I go to Golden Chick at least once a week if not twice . The chicken is great. It's always hot and fresh when I order it. One of the things I like best is the staff as they seem very receptive. I cannot remember a bad order that I picked up that was wrong. I also like the fried fish, which is always hot and fresh. It is one of the better places to get fried fish in this area. The place is usually clean and well kept. I'm sure every now and then an order gets messed up. It happens,However, the staff appears to be willing to make things right if something goes wrong. I was driving to Texarkana from Houston for business and I wanted something different than the same old Whataburger. Sonic, ect. and I saw The Golden Chick and thought I'd give it a try. I'M SO GLAD I DID!! This was my first time at Golden Chick, but it won't be the last!! I had a Drumstick, Fried Okra, Roll, and a Tea. Y'all it's the BEST CHICKEN I've ever had!! It was crunchy, hot, and the spice was just right. Whoever was cooking that night deserves an award, WOW!! The roll and okra were great too!! Win Win!! Went for a late night dinner yet for some reason they decided to close early and give no explanation. If you're short staffed then the management team is supposed to step in and pick up the slack. Too often now you have bosses and supervisors who don't know how to be leaders and have no reason to be in that position. If you can't lease by example you don't deserve to be a manager and if you can't pickup the slack then you shouldn't have taken in the responsibility. Pulled in the drivethru for a 2 pc meal, 3 fried shrimp and a Fletcher's Corn Dog. Received our food and got halfway back up the road and my wife realized she didn't have her 3 shrimp we ordered. We also like the chicken salad especially on their rolls. This food is good. Chicken Tenders here are actually 3rd behind fish and baked chicken for us. The atmosphere is nice. It is a lot better than many fast food places. They do have fountain Diet Dr Pepper! The service can be the weak link here. First time to go inside. I have never asked for a refund of my food before l left the register. I know we shouldn't judge those who look like they are on drugs and along with their behavior in front of customers. I was the only customer and l ordered more than normal which took several minutes to prepare by the friendly helpful staff. Then this rocking back and forth manager hitting one hand into another repeated over and over if you don't want to be here, l can fix that. You all need to be busy. He kept telling 6-8 people if you don't want to be here. If l go into a place warmly welcomed then poof. The air changes. l am not spending nearly $40.00 on chicken. I dont care if fresh paint, shiny windows. I chose a place that l should feel the same going in as l do leaving! I got my bag and he finished with his rant. I asked could you have waited for me to leave? He then said don't give me a lecture. I said no, just give me a refund. Tuesday at 6pm there were more workers there then the local Chili's. We order a 16 piece meal, half and half, drive-thru window. Half regular, half spicy. We get home, I open the box, take out the regular figure the spicy is on the bottom. My friend gets into it and can't find any spicy chicken - because - there is none. At the store, she - my friend - heard and watched the dude at the window stop and ask if this is half and half to the cooks? Now, she calls over there. We didn't get any spicy chicken. "Well, you can come back here and get some spice packs". She goes back with receipt and is told that they aren't going to give her anything because "there is no proof". They gave her a back of spices and sent her on her way. What kind of retarded, lame, stupid people are running this business? Who drives clear back up to a fast food restaurant in order to try and pull some kind of deception? This drivel from this manager intoned that she is a liar. When you are going to spend $26 on a meal, you want what you paid for! We aren't poor or broke, we weren't trying to get tomorrow's lunch ie: leftovers for free. It's the principle of the thing. You don't get what you ordered - she is pregnant btw, my friend and has cravings for spicy food - you want them to honor the fact that they didn't give you what you ordered. My husband and I ordered a 3pc chicken and 4pc tender combos with sides of dirty rice. We received meat and rolls shortly and was informed that the rice was cold and was being heated up and she would bring it out shortly. 14 minutes later we still hadn't received it. I took I untouched plates back to the counter and asked for the manager. I explained the situation and was informed they bought our meat to us to eat and we could eat the sides when they were bought out.
