First time trying Whataburger ever, this location in Ballentine across from Walmart. The menu for me didn't offer much variety beyond burgers but that's their name so... I went with jalapeño burger all the way. The combo comes w fries and large drink. As for my opinion, the burger was large about size of Whopper, tomato, lettuce, not soaked thru with mayonnaise; combined with fries it was plenty to fill one person. The taste I can only think of closest is Sonic, this was $9.99 for combo. The drive thru is not AI although you may be tricked as I was by the voice. Customer service was good. They're new and we expected some hiccups/delays. We opted to try them during what could possibly be "non peak hours." Arrived at 4 and followed the maze to get to a parking spot. I did not have the patience for the drive thru line. We found a spot and walked to the door...an employee was there letting people in as space was available. It wasn't really that long of a wait and we were able to find a seat right away. We ordered at a kiosk which was super easy to use. From the time our receipt was printed to when we got our food was 18 minutes. To me, it was just like any other burger joint. We Tried the burgers, fries and onion rings. Next time definitely want to try their shakes. My children's review sums it up just right: It's like getting a sonic burger at a better price. The fries are like McDonalds. So, if I want a sonic burger, but not nearly as expensive I'd come here. Staff were friendly. Only mistake with our order was they forgot to give us a milk and the soda seemed flat. I placed an online order at Whataburger for a cheeseburger, onion rings, and a drink and honestly, I'm still wondering what all the hype is about. I ended up waiting 30 minutes for my food, and when it finally came out, the drink was missing. I had to wait another 15 minutes just for that to be brought to me. The food itself? Mediocre at best. The burger lacked flavor, and the onion rings were just okay. I understand it's a new location and there are kinks to work out, but you'd expect the team to have their operations in better shape by now. We went during opening week and had medium expectations, but were pleasantly surprised! We may have even went back the next day With anything new in this area, long lines are to be expected. The drive through line was extremely long, so we decided to dine in. There was hardly no one inside! Orders can be placed at the counter or on a kiosk. We ordered on the kiosk so we could take our time and found this process very easy to navigate. Between the two visits, we tried fries, onion rings, triple burger with cheese, patty melt, Nashville hot boneless wings, the sweet & spicy bacon burger, and an apple pie. There was nothing that we didn't enjoy, but the onion rings, patty melt, and boneless wings are the items that we continue to talk about. Also planning to go back to try the Dr Pepper shake and honey butter chicken biscuit. The employees were nice and you can tell they are trying their best to not get overwhelmed. Giving them a little kindness and grace while they are the "new kid on the block" goes a long way. The establishment was clean from counter to tables to bathrooms. I finally decided to try Whataburger after driving by it many many times since it was recently built I got the basic hamburger combo with fries and a drink. The food was pretty good, but I will say the service was absolutely terrible. I had to deal with three different people to finally get my order. One person took my order. Another person rang me up and the third person had to go track it down in the kitchen. What's more, someone ordered the same thing after me and got their food before me. The people working at that location during my visit were inattentive unfocused disorganized and overall pretty slack. The service was nice. They have really good burgers, but my favorite that they have would be their banana pudding shake. The only thing missing would be some vanilla wafers to dip into the shake. The Restaurant was clean and it is conveniently open 24 hours a day. This would be very beneficial to people working swing shift. Breakfast is served from 6 AM to 11 AM and they have a really good selection of breakfast burger and biscuit. I would definitely give this place a try. read more

Dear Texas - this is a burger, no less no more. Yes - it's better than most but not the best. The service is extraordinary, they have hosts that come around and make sure your experience is good. I've been to the Whataburger in Ballentine SC #1441 several times now, and they are hit and miss at best. Very inconsistent with their food and service. Today I went through the drive-thru and waited 15 minutes and they still screwed up my order. This was my first visit to a Whataburger... what a disappointment! It took 26 minutes to get my order... 26 minutes to get a hamburger and fries. It was apparent that the staff the was incapable of doing anything. I asked for a refill on tea because the urn in the restaurant was empty. It took 5 minutes for them the eat a refill. As for the burger it wasn't much better than Burger King! The patty was over cooked dry and cold. The cheese was a super thin slice that gets lost in the bun. I'll admit the fries were good and at least they were hot. I may give them a second chance but I won't go out of my way to eat at Whataburger. I went in at around 10am, after just finding out they had opened. I'm not a big breakfast person and knowing they're 24 hours I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to get lunch food. When I pulled up to the drive thru the woman in my lane did not greet me or really say anything so I just kind of gave my order and she told me my total and sent me on my way. I didn't get a receipt nor did she verify my order, and with the price being $6 I felt my order was incorrect. After waiting approx. 10 minutes in line for my food, I did receive the incorrect order. I felt bad because I know this technically was the order I paid for and was "mine" and there was a price difference so I brought this up as well but she was very nice and said they would just fix it for me. I already felt really awkward but then I could hear the workers in the window talking about me saying, "tell her she needs to pay." Honestly if I was told to pay I would've I don't really care, I just wanted what I tried to order originally. But the feeling of them looking at me and talking about me made me feel pretty terrible tbh and I just wanted to leave at that point lol. Eventually the same worker brought out the revised order which again was incorrect but at that point I just wanted to hightail it out of there so I didn't say anything else. For reference I originally tried to order the honey bbq chicken strip sandwich meal, but received the honey butter chicken biscuit. After revision I received a honey bbq chicken biscuit(?) Never been to a Whataburger so when this one opened we decided to visit today. Wife ordered a chicken nugget meal with onion rings. I ordered a #1 with a shake. Noticed on the receipt I was charged for a meal along with the full price shake. Brought this to their attention. After a few minutes she was back and told me to change the order would cost me more. I can not explain how ordering just the sandwich and shake was more than ordering a meal and a shake. Left it as it was. Ordered 4 times they got it wrong all 4 times. Each time ordered 2 double meat meals twice I get both as singles once one was 3 meat the other a single. Ordered delivery once DoorDash delivered with no drinks then tried to lie to me by saying there aren't drinks look at receipt lo and behold drinks were listed. Tried to call store manager but was told it's a hipaa violation to tell me when manager is in to call. Seriously I've worked fast food someone is in charge that's there. We waited a few weeks before we tried it. We were able to park just fine and we ordered at the register. We received our order in 12 minutes. The only issue is we thought we order a single burger but actually we ordered doubles. They were very good but I will order with no butter on the bun next time. Very friendly and attentive staff. I don't usually review restaurants, because we all have our off nights and i was in the industry for several years, but......We went to dinner here with some friends and our experience was not great. Our server did the best she could, but it was obvious she didn't know the menu well and disappeared from us after the food was delivered until it was time for the checks. We had a group of 5 and we got 3 different kinds of fries, ALL of them were cold. The calamari is more of a single serving than an appetizer portion. The fish and burger were okay, but nothing that I would crave again. As an added bonus we got the on tap cocktails (Margarita and Lemonade/Vodka) and they were awful. After paying and walking out the door, the owner stopped us to give us free shirts (very kind of him), but when I approached him and told him about our drinks- I wasn't going to say a word, but he was there and I thought as an owner he would want to know....well he didn't, because he responded with "well you're the first to complain and we sell a lot of them so I won't be changing the recipe!".....was not looking for the abrupt rude response and thought he would appreciate feedback. clearly I was wrong. if I was ever to go there again, the conversation alone with him made it a definite never again. read more

I visited on opening day at about 11:45 AM. It is worth noting that they are open 24 hours. Of course, it was very busy, and I parked in a nearby business's lot, so their grand opening was very grand. Not unexpectedly, it took a while to get my order. One of the managers noticed I had been waiting about 20 minutes, so he went to check and brought my meal back in just a few minutes. He said my ticket had gotten lost. I had already gotten my drink, which is self-serve. The drinks are Coke products. The fries were hot and crispy. The burger, however, was cold. The meat was barely colored tan on the outside and the inside still had a bit of pink. I don't mind a bit of pink, but I would have preferred the outside a bit browner. That said, the meat and bun were cold enough that the cheese didn't melt, so on that part it could have been better. The lettuce, tomatoes and onions were fresh, and the bun was good. There was a generous amount of fixings on the burger, including three pickle slices. It was neatly made, and a nice-sized burger. More like a BK Whopper than a Big Mac. Another manager asked how my food was, and I told him the food was pretty good, but the burger was cold. He offered to bring me another, but I had already eaten about 3/4's of my burger and I didn't want more. He gave me a card for a free sandwich on another visit. He really did try to make it right, which I appreciated. I didn't look over the menu thoroughly, but they do have a chicken sandwich, some spicy options and iced coffee.
