Big Dave's never disappoints. I got the Big Dave's cheesesteak (18 inch) and added mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce, and baby... it was SO good. Super flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and packed with meat. The bread was soft, the flavors were on point, and every bite hit. The portion size alone is worth it -- definitely enough to share (or not ). Everything tasted fresh and made with care. I tried the classic "Daves Way" philly and it was just as amazing as the pictures. Next time I will add hot peppers. The bread was nice and soft. Definitely a hefty meal. This location is locally owned and operated! We checked them out for lunch one day and were not disappointed. We ordered the original Dave's way, salmon egg roll, buffalo chicken egg roll, and strawberry lemonade. Service was friendly and food was prepared to order and came out quickly. This is a bit more expensive than other options in the area, but they are using fresh, Halal ingredients and you can taste the difference in the product. read more

I visited Big Dave's on 05/02/26 at approximately 7:50 pm. I placed an order and it rang up $3.00 more than the price on the menu screen. The manager by the name Rayne said the price on the menu was wrong and she could not change it. After bringing the false advertisement to her attention multiple times, she still refuse to honor the menu price. Big Dave's missed a sell up to $40.00 because I refuse to patronize the business. On this night in Columbia we had just landed, and places start to close early here. At the airport as we were leaving the attendant at the rental car place mentioned that a cheese steak spot was a good place to go at this time due to limited options. We got to the place about an hour before closing. I admit I had that "really" look when he said this place served up a good cheesesteak. Looking at the menu I went with Classic Dave's Way Beef Cheesesteak. Some say blasphemy but I do like mushrooms on my cheesesteak. This one came with onions, sweet peppers, banana peppers, mushrooms, and three cheeses. Yes, one of the three cheese option on the it is Whiz. They come in a few sizes starting at 6 inch, 9 inch and 18 inches. Flavorful is all I can say. The food is cooked right there when you order and none of that sitting on a warmer and thrown back on the grill stuff. The type of bread use can make a difference but it should not be the star of the show. The steak was plentiful and just the right amount. Not enough so it is bursting out and overflowing, making your hoagie a mess that falls apart picking it up. Still it was not a miniscule amount where you say yeah this going to get a bad Yelp review along with a one and done. No beef with what they are serving up here. See what I did there. I visited Big Dave's Cheesesteaks at 924 1/2 Harden St, Columbia, SC 29205 on 04/17/2026 at approximately 8:21 PM, and the customer service I received was unacceptable. The cashier, identified on my receipt as "KY S" (black and gray hair), was rude and inattentive while taking my order. As I was clearly reading my order, she was not paying attention and made me repeat myself, which came across as dismissive and unprofessional. When I asked a simple question about making my order a combo, her attitude remained rude and unhelpful. What made the situation worse is that other customers in the restaurant were also complaining about her attitude at the same time, which suggests this is not an isolated issue. Due to the poor treatment, I chose not to complete my full order and left the establishment. As someone who works hard and spends their money expecting basic respect and professionalism, this experience was very disappointing. Management needs to address this issue immediately, as this level of customer service reflects poorly on the business and will drive customers away. read more

A Cheesesteak worth trying. If you're a fan of cheesesteaks then this is your next stop. BD features all the cheesesteak options, they have steak, chicken and even salmon options. Cheese wise they have wiz, white American, and provolone. Side wise they've got fries, eggrolls, and some tasty looking banana pudding. Price wise BD is respectable and when it comes to price per value this is a home run. Easily one of the best Cheesesteaks I've ever had. I've only had one issue where my bread wasn't as soft as I'd like and the next time I visited, they threw in free egg rolls to make up for it. Let me start by saying they're newly opened. We had the classic cheesesteak but with different toppings. The bread was soft and fresh and the meat itself was seasoned. The seasoned fries were flavorful but they were lukewarm even though we ordered at the counter. The time it took to order and then the wait was a little long so on a Saturday you would have to be very patient. I've been to this establishment multiple and the customer service isn't great. The managers needs to be better managers to employees. There's one particular young lady that I come see weekly to check up on her. The male manager that has dreads treats her poorly. My husband I needs to be the one to put it out there because she's so quiet. This young lady asked if she can step outside to take a phone call regarding her daughter. He told her it was fine. My husband was outside and overheard the conversation. As I'm waiting for our food the male manager talks about her like a dog. My husband outside and she's in tears. He walked up to make sure she's okay. She just explained that her daughter has seziures real bad and they were trying to release her from the hospital due to insurance issues. You never know what your employees got going on. Every time I come it's the same manager treating her poorly. My husband asked her name and she said Kiara. Even after her phone she walked in with a smile and still did her job. Yesterday I came in and she was the topic again. Please treat your other managers how to treat people it's sick. My husband and I come weekly and check on her to see if there's anything we can do to help her in any kid of way. Whether it's a conversatio, helping her find the resources she needs for her child. She's the best manager you guys have and you don't want to lose her because your other managers are bullies. Please check the situation out. I will be reach out to corporate as well. Was excited to try this place out. We actually drove 45 minutes just to go there. It was just ok, not bad, but nothing to write home about either. Prices were very high for what you got. I ordered a classic and it was much smaller than expected (not like what you get in philly). The place itself is very small. They do have a few tables, however. It was also very loud. I moved to Columbia 7 years ago and haven't been able to find a good cheesesteak that taste like home. I think I've been here at least 4 or 5 times since they opened. I came to town to visit some family and stopped by to grab something quick. While walking downtown we came across Big Dave's. The atmosphere is AMAZING and FRIENDLY! Great music. Clean restaurant. Went for the first time. Food was pretty good, not great tho. My expectations might have been a bit high in that we are very familiar with real Philly cheesesteaks. For the portions we fairly small for the price compared to what you get in Philly. Place seemed a bit dirty and people just hanging around. Visiting from Philly and wanted to try. Amoroso roll is a Philly standard but this tasted like a day old roll. Standard Philly cheesesteak is 12 inches but Dave's was 9 for about the same price.
