We happen to be in the area for an overnight on the way home from vacation spot. Many people suggested that we try this place. It was a cute deli type place and the girl that waited on us at the counter was very nice and knowledgeable! I had the special of the day. I'm not exactly sure what was on it, but it was amazing! As was the gluten-free sub bun that they had available, but the star of the show was the sauce that came with it!! It's well known and comes with every sandwich....the ingredients are a secret. This is a local eatery. It is becoming a staple in Columbia SC.. they have sandwiches with melted cheese and various salads, The food is really good. The service is good too. They even offer a free cookie when you pay your bill. That's a nice touch! read more

I've ordered from here a few times but this was my first time coming into this location. I was greeted by a young lady sweeping the floors. There was a couple in there but the dining room was pretty empty. She asked if I had a pick-up order and I told her no. She made her way to the counter to take my order. She complimented me on my nails (which I had just left the shop) and we chatted for a moment. The young man made my salad and I was out the door. The salad was great. Made how I wanted it to be with fresh items. The establishment was very clean. It looks like other Groucho's that I've been to. I have no complaints and will return. read more

Horrible experience. Service was slow. My son's sandwich came out rock hard. Literally, it hurt his teeth when he bit into it. I couldn't even tear it apart. The other two kids got grilled cheese (because they didn't have peanut butter and jelly even though it was offered on the menu) with one side burnt and the other not even cooked. Major let down from what we have heard. Tables had dishes all over them and the seat had jelly on it along with other "goo". Groucho's makes me sad because although I love their sandwiches and sauce, the portion for the price is very disappointing. The sandwiches are pretty small with just a small pile of meat placed top of a top split bun. Then the sandwich I like most doesn't even include any sauce so I have to pay even more for a side. When I'm done, I feel like that was only half but I'm not gonna pay full price to buy another half to be satisfied. It's not just this location, it's all of them in general. read more

Apollo Dipper all turkey is my favorite sandwich from Groucho's.Another good selection if you like salads is my wife's salad bowl. Piles of fresh ham, turkey, bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese, and Colby Jack cheese cubes served on a bed of green combo salad. I normally get mine with extra turkey I'm not a big fan of ham but definitely give it a try.Friendly staff clean waiting for most part.Would definitely recommend. read more

This location was not satisfying at all. It was my first time at this location and my second time ever having them. First time it was catered from a different location and the sub was great. It made me decide to go over the weekend. The mistake was going to a different location. My sub was hard and bread wasn't sliced the toppings were on top and of course they all fell off. I paid almost $10. I called them and the young girl was nice on the phone and passed my number to the manager which I received a text. She started by stating facts of my complaint that weren't accurate. So I had to explain why I was dissatisfied. The excuse was the veggie sub was best to be eaten in the store. Hmmm never heard that before. But instead of just apologizing and correcting my sub I was told I could come back purchase another sub at a discount price. I was a little shocked bc why would I drive all the way back to spend more money? My sub was not eatable that I had and I had to toss it. But you want me to purchase another one for the bad and poorly made sub. Not to mention I heard them messing up on other orders which one worker spotted and had to have them correct it. I don't know why they didn't a have a manger on duty in the store. But anyways I was just disappointed and I won't be returning to this location I'll take the drive to the other location like I should have done.So save your money and time. read more

I truly wanted to give this place 5 stars but there were a few issues. Pros: Customer service was nice, helpful, and friendly. My daughter enjoyed her toasted tuna on white sub roll and mom said her tuna sandwich was ok. Service was fast. Formula 45 dressing was delicious! Cons: I asked for provolone on all sandwiches and got cheddar on all. I asked for cucumbers but they were left off (I do appreciate that the young lady did offer to get me some but I needed to get back to work and said nvm). Now the worst thing was my salad. I had a clump of meat that wasn't chopped up. It was torn looks like in big pieces. Not sure if that's normal but it was a hassle trying to cut the meat up and work. I honestly think they were all just tired. I will try them again and this time just make sure everything is right before leaving. read more

This place is excellent! first I got hooked on a half of Reuben sandwich after a friend offered me some. Went there the next day... I ordered the Ruben Variation. Warning! Do not get the pasta salad. You will get a tiny plastic serving of oil with old pasta and one not so green piece of broccoli. The best way to describe it is WTF... It's that horrible! My first visit to Groucho's Deli. We decide d to split a reuben. l'm glad we decided to split it. Because we if would have gotten a sandwich each we would have tossed the other half out. It was that bad. The pastrami was tuff, the rye bread was almost stale. We passed on the potato chips and got the potato sala. Another mistake. It looked and tasted like canned potatoes. Flavorless, it lacked mayonnaise, pepper and salt. It had the color of an egg yolk . When you picked up the potatoes the watery dress cascaded off. So you were left with perfectly squared 1/4 inch potatoes. The pickle that accompanied the sandwich was soft on one side crisp on the other. It tasted like a pickle that had been there for awhile. Based on this one and only sandwich, I would not return. Maybe it was this particular Groucho's Deli. So, if I was left on a desert island and this was the only store available Iwould choose to die. I went to Grouchos today and ordered the Otis sandwich. When I got home there was a hair imbedded in the sandwich. This was the second time in a month an a half that this has happened with hair being in the container that time. First time they offered a replacement at a later date that I accepted and that subsequent sandwich was fine. So after that I gave this location another chance and hair again on today. I spoke with manager Ryan or Kyle who was very respectful who offered replacement which I declined and just requested them to address a systemic issue at this location. I love grouchos! Who doesn't love a sub piled high with turkey and that coveted dipping sauce?! I make it a point to stop by Grouchos each time I visit Columbia. I stick with my favorite, the Apollo Dipper, minus the ham. I never knew this, but they offer baked chips. I overheard a table request them during my recent visit. Otherwise I try and save some of the sauce to dip my chips in. Do they bottle their sauce?? They definitely should!!! Our service is always great and there is plenty of seating to accomodate the lunch crowd. Grouchos is definitely worth giving a shot during lunch. 8 year old approved, his favorite sandwich joint. 4 year old just likes the chips...when do they stop being so picky? read more

My mother kindly offered to bring lunch and arrived with maybe the most vile sandwich (sub?) I've had in a long time. She reported they didn't have onions or peppers for the sub. That right there should have been an indication of the assault on our tastebuds to come. The "sub" was what appeared to be bread with a mass of meat atop it and some pathetic melted substance masquerading as cheese. That's it. The bread was an astonishing combo of squishy and dry, and flavorless. It was also cut and piled with meat in such a fashion that it couldn't be closed and eaten like a sandwich or sub. None of the meat tasted like much of anything it was supposed to, only the pastrami was pastrami-esque. I tired their sauce on this creation and it did not help. Their chips also did not taste like chips, but over salted thin ersatz potatoes. Their pickle was fine. But my tummy feels attacked. We shall never return. read more

Called in to order and called back and asked if this was normal because this is clearly not a "soup" the employee basically said this is what you get at the end of the day and it's normal . So displeased too bad I just moved in the neighborhood and was looking forward to a good sub shop besides Subway!
