It's family-run by good people, and the place has a wonderfully welcoming vibe and a full menu with lots of options (the "Hungry Man" should be famous if it's not already).

Patrick Bradshaw a…read moreday ago New $90-100 We went here for my birthday. This is a nice upscale restaurant that allows the guests to be casual. The waitress (Makala, not sure, it was May 6) was awesome and so were the servers. They put us in a private room space with a few tables. It was great until a 7 top arrived. All women and chatty and loud for the small room...fortunately, we were close to being finished when the hen club arrived. They ruined the atmosphere. My suggestion, dont put small parties in that small room when a large party is coming in also. It is too small a room with all hard surfaces for that noise level. And yes, the other two small tables noticed the noise in my opinion. The food, well the food was great! The filets we had were cooked rare as ordered. They do a french frie service instead of bread service. Those fries are fried in duck fat. So delicious! We had asparagus, lobster mashed taters and mushrooms with our steak. All prepared excellently and delicious. You've hear of Halls Chophouse? This place is better! Have you heard of NY Prime in Myrtle Beach? This place is their equal. And, I consider them the best steakhouse there is. This place is better than Millpond Steakhouse in Rembert, SC. So, take my advice, for one of the absolute best meals and services, go to Embers in Lexington, SC. ( to Embers, keep striving to improve. Never rest on good feedback. Also, one suggestion, blister those grapes tomatoes served as garnish with the steak) Oh, prices, yes they are a little higher than low end places like Outback or Texas Roadhouse or Longhorns but the price is a great price for the steaks served here. Prime meats not choice grade meats. If you want a good steak go to one of those places, but if you want an excellent steak, go to Ember... Wheelchair accessibility If you park in the rear, the only wheelchair route is aroUnd the building on public ways that seem to be a good bit steeper than allowed by A.D.A. No proper accessible route that I saw from the rear main parking area. If you are in a wheelchair, and have a driver, get them to drop you off at the front of the building.

We checked out the menu and although we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, we opted for a minimalist approach: the delicious complementary fries with dipping sauces, charred asparagus, the steak, and a bottle of Zinfandel blend. We were greeted warmly as we entered the restaurant and the good service continued with our excellent server Renée. There were no empty tables in the restaurant and everyone seemed to be having a good time without being too loud, perhaps due to the good acoustics of the unique ribbed ceiling. My wife ordered her filet medium-well and I opted for a medium ribeye. Renée explained that they butterfly the filets to encourage more even cooking. Our steaks came out after about 15 minutes, followed by our asparagus. I thought the timing was perfect. Our steaks had a deep char, but managed to be cooked to our liking. We were pleased with the meat. It was very flavorful. The asparagus spears were quite thick, and I was worried they might be woody, but most were tender even at the base. We saved room for dessert and we're really happy with the lemon cake. We also had some caramelized peaches with ice cream and whipped cream. We enjoyed our dinner very much, and look forward to sampling some of the other menu items.

Jazz is playing and the servers and wait staff are super nice. Once our reservations were confirmed, we were sat shortly after. We sat and our waitress Avah, or Ava was great. We order a mojito and an eighteen elven as drinks. The pimento cheese and shrimp for appetizers. 12oz NY Strip with French fries and cream fried corn with a 16oz hand cut ribeye with mashed potatoes and string beans. We added on 3 scallops and were happy that we did. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, steaks both medium rare and the drinks were made well. No complaints, probably the most quiet dinner date, but it was for great reason. Please do yourself a favor and grab a reservation.

Well walked in and see plenty of two tops open and the hostess made me a reservation anyway. Yes and then asked me to please wait for five minutes and then she would seat me. Sure enough after five minutes almost to the dot she took me to one of the many empty tables. Several were two tops. No by the time I left many were full but still trying to force the reservation issue on a rainy, humid yucky Wednesday night is a bit much. The waitress was very nice and very professional as you would expect in a relatively upscale restaurant. She took my drink order and my she crab soup. The ole fashioned was ok. Not great and if you look at the pix it is a bit short. The she crab soup was thinner than most and had an excessive amount of shell in it. Some rather large pieces. Some shell is to be expected but this was a bit much. The bread for dipping was delicious and the soup had plenty of crab in it to go with the shells. Then came time to order main course. I have had salmon, reddish and tuna this week so opted for the scallops. I asked to swap both sides for a side salad and was told no. They don't do that. Hmmm. Usually for a small up charge yes. I have never been just told flat out no till this evening. She advised her manager said no when she went and asked so I had to choose two sides so went with the green beans and the Cajun coleslaw. The scallops were a bit small but ok. The green beans were delicious. Best part of the whole meal. The Cajun slaw was nice and creamy by a bit too spicy so it was left. The place is an old house that has been converted into a nice restaurant. It is nicely decorated and has upscale feel but it is lacking. Had high hopes but trying too hard to be something in an area with lots of restaurant choices. No is what I will say when asked if I will return next trip.

It's also part of the experience when we go dine out and every time I've come with family or on my own I've always seen a friendly face who takes the time to greet, chat and just be a little extra thoughtful. I've taken the time to notice that the general manager works tirelessly to check on patrons, introducing himself and ensure orders are enjoyed. He has also hired some of the most out going and kindest staff, I truly enjoy their smiles and feel welcome when I visit for my next order. It's one thing to go out for a meal but it's experiencing good food with a pleasant environment. I believe that making this an extra stop for a fresh ice tea with their tea pass or a healthier option for lunch is worth it. If I could suggest one improvement , while it is big, I'd love to see this location get a more updated facelift though, the seating, walls, floors and bathrooms are functionally obsolescent. This McAlisters is in a great location and has a lot of business, it would be so nice to see it updated with more of a cafe and deli feel to it.
