My dad came here about 10 years ago while visiting some friends in the area, and wanted me to try it. It did not hold up to standards from last time, but was still fairly good. Pawleys Front Porch is a dive bar, and has been featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened, and were the first to arrive. Even after us being in the restaurant for an hour, only two other parties arrived to dine. It honestly felt like a ghost town, and hope that it is not like this every day. Their fried pickles are actually pretty good! They are crispy, hot, and have a good dill taste (good pickles). The chicken tenders are good! They aren't frozen, are crispy, and have good taste. The burger was supposed to come with a pretzel bun, but apparently they haven't had a pretzel bun in three years lol. Why is it still on the menu? We don't know. His burger was a bit overcooked and toppings weren't quite as high quality as last time. Our server was wonderful, and constantly came around to refill our drinks and get us anything we need. It did take a bit of a long time for our food to come out, but that's alright. As long as the food is good we don't mind. Does not deserve to be on the DDD list! Traveling through and we were excited to find a Triple D restaurant in Columbia but it should not be on the list. We waited an hour or more because they said there was only one cook. We got our burgers (ordered medium) and they were completely overcooked. I wondered if mine was even beef. I stabbed the meat with my plastic knife and lifted the whole rock solid patty puck. Cocktail was decent and they stock Fever Tree ginger beer so stay with the cocktails. read more

We waited 15 minutes at a filthy outdoor bar. The bar-tender finally came out and looked at us but instead of getting our order got others orders and went back inside. I went inside and said, " excuse me sir" he barely turned around. I continued with, " my husband and I have been sitting outside at the bar for for a bit now. " "Well. You were just out there so I was wondering if you would please take our order?" He fully turned around this time and glared at me and said in a rude manner and loud voice, " Yeah, when I get a second chance!" Then turned around and went back outside to deliver the others ( that he did not blatantly ignore) their drinks. I walked outside and told my husband we were leaving. Between the filthy tables , broken tables and cold food , they were out of all the special items, especially the seafood, which now I'm grateful for. Margaritas were good, service was ok, there was one guy, he was a host, bartender, server and busser all in one, so he was busy, Can't blame him. Poor quality of everything. Went to get a burger for lunch with a friend today and what we were served was NOT ground beef. It was something else and it was absolutely inedible. It was like a piece of a seasoned rubbery substance. Go to a real burger joint if you want a real hamburger. Used to be great, but not anymore. Service was also poor. read more

Pawley's Front Porch is one of those restaurants that has a lot of potential, but hasn't quite reached it yet. I went on two (2) occasions, once on a Tuesday night, and once on a Saturday afternoon. On both occasions, the bartenders and servers were nice, but slow and inattentive. Both times I went, I had to flag them down for more drinks and to close out. I got the impression that others were having the same problem, as one patron just asked for a refund rather than their order, and another guest looked annoyed and walked down the bartender to close out their tab. The first night I went, on Tuesday, I enjoyed the outdoor patio, but it was a little dark and felt a little too much like a nightclub. Because of this, it's probably not the type of place I'd go if I wanted to converse or interact with friends. I will say however, that the chicken tenders and fries were very good, and well above average. On Saturday, I sat at the indoor bar, and tried all of the establishment's IPAs. I'd say that two out of the three (2/3) were pretty good, and that they had a nice indoor setup. Again, the bartender seemed like a cool guy, but I feel like my beers were underpoured and I was missing out on a sip or two (2) of my drink. I think they were well understaffed, as there was a line outside the door when I left, but many tables left empty as well. All-in-all, I'd say that Pawley's Front Porch is a high-quality restaurant and bar, but they need to get their staffing problems in check, as well as perfect the little details that go a long way in maximizing the restaurant experience. read more

This place lost there way, they were missing some many ingredients, no pineapple no brie cheese, the berger I got the cheese was freezing cold the table was disgusting, we asked to clean they gave its a towel, to clean out selves - such a disappointment, we were excited amd it was a huge let down read more

If you love a grimy dive bar like me, this place is for you. It's an absolute no-frills establishment with cheap drinks and funny characters on both sides of the bar. I unfortunately visited this bar during the winter, but I'd love to come back during the warm months and hang out on that excellent patio space. I was so excited to return, but it's nothing like the "awesome" spot I remember--it's now run-down, dirty, and a total shell of its former self.To make matters worse, the menu was a disaster. I was dying for one of their burgers, only to be told they weren't even serving them because the cook was out. I settled for a salad instead, but it was completely inedible; the greens were a mess and the strawberries were actually rotten.The wait staff was polite and quick, but honestly, with only a few other guests in the building, they didn't have much else to do. The bloom is off the rose. I used to love coming here for a great interesting meal. Today I got a sandwich which was underwhelming and did not even have the advertised ingredients on it along with sweet potato fries that were inedible. They tasted like yesterday's fries recooked. All for $14!! Well I learned my lesson. It's a real shame to see one of my favorite little spots go so far down. Had out of state clients who were thinking of moving to the area. I thought I'd take them to a family friendly burger spot to give them a taste of Columbia. Food was good, even though they should bring the pretzel bun back. The issue was the explicit music blasting from the kitchen. You would think a manager or other foh member would make them stop. This place is so nasty I am writing my first and so far only review on Yelp to steer folks away. I'm sure its a college student bar because nobody else would put up with the filthy appearance and smell that greets you on entry. We sat outside on the porch mostly because it's marginaly less ghastly than the interior. The service was fine but the food was awful. Worst Greek salad I have ever been served, and the iced tea was barely stronger than tap water. $32 I will never get back. Do yourself a favor and stay well away. Arrived and were the only people there beside employees. Waited at the front area in direct line a site of several employees sitting at the bar with their iPhones. I asked if they were open (2pm) and someone reluctantly came forward to seat us. The table was extremely sticky even after a wipe down, we ordered food and it was brought to us in a respectable amount of time. However the burger was bleeding in the center at that point we decided to wash our hands because of the extreme amount of grease. The bathroom was disgusting, the overall appearance of the restaurant was disgustingly dirty. The health department should be brought in for an inspection. My opinion the owner sets the precedence and it is reflected through its employees. Filthy, unprofessional, disgusting are just a few adjectives I have for this place. Maybe it was that our expectations were too high knowing that this spot had been featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, but Pawleys was a pretty mediocre experience. It had highs and lows. The highs were definitely the appetizers and drinks. The loaded hush puppies were incredible. The hush puppies themselves were the same variety you would find at Cookout. The beer cheese and bacon on top were the perfect complement. If I had just ordered the pups, this would be a five star review. We also ordered the crawfish tails. These were ok. Nothing special. For my main course, I ordered the Wadmalaw burger. I am not sure if there was a mixup in the kitchen or if they were just out of the ingredients but I am 99% sure that they just gave me a bacon cheeseburger. It was supposed to come with chipotle barbecue sauce and fried pickle chips. The more I ate the burger, the more I searched for these two features. Unlike Bubble Bass in SpongeBob, they genuinely forgot my pickles. The burger itself was alright. The meat was pretty good but for the ~ $15 price it was not really worth it. I had a $11 burger from the Gamecock baseball game a few nights later that was 100x better in flavor. Finally, I will highlight the drink selection. They have a wide variety on draft. Service was kind of slow and the place was empty. The chips were stale and it looks like they microwaved the cheese in a foam cup. The chicken on the wrap was so dry. Traveling through and we like to check out DDD places. Disappointed in our experience. Got my husband's order wrong 3 times so he just gave up and ate what he was served. Couldn't bare hearing the cook chide the poor waiter one more time. It wasn't the waiter who cooked a medium rare burger as a well done burger twice. The first time he served him a wrap. The second time it was a well done burger with fixins he didn't order. Additionally, the couple in the next booth sent back a wrong order too. The onion rings were great! Went for a mid afternoon lunch with the family. Waited 15 min to be told it was busy (3/4 of the tables were empty). The students who came in after us "knew the bartender" and went to the bar for what certainly was a legal beverage and no mention of a fake ID. Left and went to 77 where they have real food. The burger was fabulous, cooked perfectly the way I like it, medium rare. The bar keep was very attentive and the ambience was delightful. I took my dog there, a blue tick coon hound and there was a table of college young women sitting there and they were all so excited to pet her and give her some lovin'. We recently did a fun road trip and we always go to places that Triple D went to. This was a bit of a disappointment. The staff was friendly but the fried pickles were so very salty! My grilled chicken burger with grape jelly left something to be desired. My husband ordered a medium done burger and it was so bloody I could hear the cow mooing. Too, there was an employee that was walking around to and from the restroom ( which we have no problem with) but she was wearing a trash bag over her clothes. A large trash bag that didn't cover her shoes either. We were left to wonder what was going on in the restroom and why she had to keep coming out and walking to the bar several, several times. I had the Beaufort burger the other day. I have to admit it was just OK. The burger was dry throughout and the slice of ham that was part of the burger was super thin. The tomato and lettuce were wilted and there wasn't any special sauce as part of the burger; just a plain bun that wasn't toasted or even grilled.
