Tried this place twice. Mixed feelings about it. 1st visit was dine in. Service was not bad and slightly longer than expected, the cheeseburger was better than I was expecting for a first ever visit, fries were decent. That was around 8pm, restaurant was fairly empty, the interior decor has some weird vibes that I wasn't too keen on. It was a little colder than it should have been. 2nd visit was drive through on a Saturday night about 9:45pm. There was a good amount of cars in wait, but it moved along decently.. it was kind of weird giving my credit card to a attendant who then walked it to the window to process it.. im not likely to do that again in this modern day of tap to pay.. As for the food, the cheeseburger and fries was what I ordered again this time, the experience was less than to be desired even after a short drive home. The burger buns had a hardtack consistency, which made me ponder if it was quite possibly one of the original breads brought across on the mayflower during the colonization of this fair country.. Visiting family my first time in Elgin SC. Wanting to try new food spots. Whataburger was next. The line was long so there was a wait in the drive thru. I hot a bacon cheese whataburger meal. Nice, freash and hot. The fries was perfect. Thing I found someplace that gives McDonald's fries competition. We were excited to try whataburger and it was such a disappointment. The fries were so cold and I didn't even finish my burger because it just didn't taste very good. I would definitely recommend going a little further down the road to Freddys to get some better tasting fries and burgers. With this being a New Establishment in the area, the building was very clean and the customer service was great! As for the food, it was your average burger. I waited to write this review. I love Whataburger. Will never go back to this location. Food was subpar at best. Buns stale. Food cold and meat in the burger was extremely firm. That was after we waited in line over 20 min. Right at lunch so you'd expect that but then also would assume the food would be fresh. I waited to give review because I thought it was a one off. We had company coming in and as they were on their way they stopped by Whataburger. They got here and said it was the worst meal out of any Whataburger they've been too. Described exactly what our experience was but added it was like they got their bread at a day old discount store. . NO FOOD and NO REFUND!!! I ordered and paid online when driving through town. When I arrived 15 minutes later I was told they weren't taking orders and COULD NOT or WOULD NOT make my order or refund my money. I tried getting a refund through the app and by emailing corporate with no success. The only thing they offered was to make my order another time (I don't live anywhere near there so obviously that isn't an option for me). After I explained i didn't live close enough for that to be an option they stopped responding to emails. I think this place is amazing. I think the hamburger are good. The french fries are good. The people are extremely friendly. They have everything there accessible to you. They will come to your table and ask if you need anything more the restroom is extremely clean and the restaurant really clean so I'm not sure why all the bad reviews are. I love it. read more

First time trying whataburger ever. The line was very long but that was expected. The drive thru (after ordering) is very unorganized in a sense of your food being brought to your car in phases then after that waiting 5+ minutes for your drinks. I did have an issue during my visit where I was not given the correct drink even after waiting all that time for it. I came back and brought it to their attention and they stated they were out of what I ordered (after I left and came back.) At that point I went inside and spoke to the manager and she was very apologetic and accommodating. She seemed genuinely interested in making things right. She gave me fresh fries since by that time it was about 15 minutes after receiving my food they I finally got the correct drinks. I ordered the double meat whataburger jr and it was pretty good. The bun is buttery I may opt out of the buttered bun, if possible, during my next visit. We also had the Cobb salad which received several compliments . The jalapeño ranch pairs well with the salad, burger and fries . The fries were okay. They remind me of mcd but taste as if they are baked vs cooked in grease. The apple pie was the star. This place is brand new so I'm not expecting perfection. Dining room is a bit small and with some reorganization could fit a few more tables in there. We're used the kiosk to order which worked very well but took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The chicken sandwich here is very very good. Being that this place recently opened, the drive thru and inside was pretty busy. We ordered inside a Whataburger with onion rings and a double whataburger with fries. We received our food rather fast considering how busy they were. The onion rings were good but the burger was just okay. Slowest Drive through I've ever been to. Not just occasionally but every single time. Food is nothing special either

Customer service is great! Everyone working is very nice asking if you need anything. Place is busy and very clean. The food is definitely the biggest opportunity. Staff was extremely pleasant and trained very well, kind of like a old school Chick-fil-A vibe. Burger was made well and not cold or under cooked, fries were fresh and warm, tea was good quality as well. I see people are upset about the wait and how long it takes to get a burger here at times but you have to think about it, this is the first one to open in this part of the country so people are driving 80 miles to come eat here. The order taker was very pleasant and she even made a suggestion of cheese patty melt and she said I had the option of fries & Onion rings. Well, this is where it goes down hill. The had runners take ppl there food and drink. Well the runner brought me my drink and it was supposed to be Starry but tasted like seltzer water. I stopped the runner and told him about my drink. His response was do I want something else because it takes a while for someone to change the carbonation box out I said ok give me dr. Pepper, he went to get it but when he returned I tried to give him my other drink back. He said no I can't take it, we not allowed to bring food back in, I said you don't have a trash because I don't want an extra drink that I am not going to drink. He said there was a trash can around the corner when leaving out of drive-thru. I politely opened my door and poured the drink out. He said that works. I was then told to pull up, I guess my order was taken a minute. It was me and another car but a line of cars behind us. Like I said, they looked very unorganized. When I finally got my food it was hot and the burger was big but tasted like it was frozen are something didn't have any flavor but that cheese I didn't like, it was spicy. The onion rings were fried right but when I bit into it, the onions were soggy and that dr. Pepper was flat. That was a waste of $16. That was my first and my last. My recommendation for this location in particular is that before you leave the store, stop, check your order, make sure it is correct. The employees here are top of line service fantastical. However, unfortunately, they sometimes feel rushed and may give you the product not quite to how you ordered it. So say you order two burgers with added avocado. Well, before you leave the store, make sure both burgers have said avocado. If one of the burgers does not have the avocado, no problem! Politely request a side of avocado, which they will glady give to you. If you remain courteous and polite with the employees, they will gladly correct any mistakes that may have occurred. So what I am saying is, do not be in any kind of hurry when ordering from this Whataburger location. This shall sound ridiculous, yet you must have a total amout of 30 minutes or less to double check your order before leaving. I am not trying to be rude in any way. Called back again and spoke with manager "Bernard" who told me the only way he could refund me was for me to drive back out to their location. We were road-tripping it to our destination when we saw an exit that had a Whataburger. I have not had a Whataburger in decades and my husband had never tasted Whataburger, so we took the exit and got in the drive thru line which was quite long, but the worker taking my order was sweet and polite. I was super excited to have a tasty Whataburger after all those years, and it did not disappoint. The fries were great. The Coke was great. The burger was a little salty, but, whatever. I think it's the mustard that makes the Whataburger so good. Now, my beef with this particular location has to do with the management. Apparently management did not do a good enough job in training their outside employees with the whole missing-parts-of-an-order thing. Or perhaps the employee hanging on the outside of the window did NOT CARE. Anyway, I got my order, but in front of me was a very entitled white woman we shall name Karen, who was waiting on her onion rings. She had not pulled up into one of the drive thru spaces, no. She simply sat there just beyond the window, so no one could leave once they received their food. I honked and yelled for her to move. She yelled at me with expletives. Five minutes, I'm waiting behind this woman to move, which means I got my order five minutes ago and it's beyond time for me to be driving away, happily with my Whataburger. My husband got out of the car to go see if she was going to move, and knocked on her driver's side window. She rolled down her window and screeched like a loon, "Don't touch my car!" Finally, the very unenthusiastic and wishing-he-didn't-drop-out-of-college manager comes walking out holding the precious onion rings in a little bag in his hand and is not aware of the commotion going on. Again, I blame the employee who didn't tell the woman to move to a drive thru spot. I even told her to tell the onion ring lady to move! I'm still honking and trying to get her to move after she gets her onion rings, but she still WILL NOT move. The manager is trying to deflate the mood, to no avail. He is pretty much worthless, as are his employees. The woman finally moves, and the manager tells me five minutes is not a long time to wait. The first time I ordered a basic sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit but received a chicken biscuit (which tasted phenomenal but not my order). The second time, they forgot about my order/me, and after waiting in the drive thru and a waiting position for 16 minutes, I went inside, where they admitted they forgot about my order. Then, they told me they had to cook the sausage patty, so it took another 8 minutes. In total, I spent over 30 minutes, at 8 o'clock in the morning, to get two breakfast sandwiches - a sausage, egg, and cheese on a jalapeno cheddar biscuit and an egg and cheese biscuit. Generally, restaurant and fast food service is poor Columbia, South Carolina, but this Whataburger has exceptionally poor service. They opened about a week ago and thought they would be great for the area. My wife and I went there and they have a weird system that is almost trying to copy ChikFilA but fails. We waited in the drivethru for about 40 minutes and it wasnt even that busy. We ordered two burgers, fries, and a soda. They brought us a burger and fries and said have a great day. The fries were about halfway full and it was a large. Then I told them we were missing a burger and drink, they said they will get the other burger...finally they brought us the other burger but it was wrong and had something on it. We were almost out of the horrible wait in the drive through and we told them we didnt have our drink yet and they said pull ahead.. we waited another 10 minutes for a soda. Will never go back.
