I've seen many ig stories about WestCore for months and after hearing about it from a friend, I finally made it to the new Millbrae studio. All I can say is it was totally worth the wait! As a mom of three finding "me time" is a rarity, especially with a newborn, but I'm so happy that I used this time on finally trying this class! I decided to start with the Beginner's Foundation class with Sofia, and she was awesome! Sofia was upbeat, patient, and super attentive throughout. She made sure everyone in class had great form and she kept the energy high the entire time. The class was pretty challenging and worked muscles I didn't even know could be targeted. My abs, hips, lower back, and core were all on fire and sore for days(in the best way!) My partner joined me, and we both walked out of the studio smiling and sweaty, trying to plan our next Pilates session. The vibe was perfect for beginners as it was welcoming, supportive, and overall motivating. Can't wait to return to WestCore. We are officially hooked!

**REVIEW FOR MILLBRAE LOCATION AS THEIR MILLBRAE LOCATION ISNT ON YELP YET** I took my first class with Mona yesterday, and it was very challenging. I am still a beginner in lagree, and have taken a few classes already, but Mona recommended strongly that I should have taken a foundations class first. I understand that each lagree studio works differently and has different techniques, but she might have been right. However, Mona was really supportive of me, fixing my form throughout class and I really appreciated that! The reformers here could tilt up/lay flat, and it def seem bigger than most reformers I've tried. They have so many big dyson fans around the studio! A suggestion that I would make would be having small amenties in the restroom; hair ties, spray deodorant would be a great touch. If you forget to bring grippy socks, it will be $15 and they have it right in front of the studio.

Tried Lagree Pilates for the first time at Westcore Burlingame, took Caryl's 45-minute class. I've only done a beginner reformer class before, and this felt kinda similar but definitely different! The machine they use is called a Megaformer, low impact but seriously high intensity. It's a full body workout, but this class focused a lot on lower body and worked one side for a while before switching. Caryl was super attentive, always checking on form. I honestly didn't have the endurance to finish everything and found some of the movements a bit too repetitive, but omg... I was so sore the next day. Glutes, inner thighs, hamstrings, obliques, core, even a bit of upper body. Total burner!

Took the beginners class -- completely different than Pilates foundations classes.

Yes, yes, yes a million times recommend! For the first reason being: Latina owned -- Mexican American owned. There is not enough Latina representation in Lagree or Pilates. I came here a little over a month ago (terrified to go back) because of how intense it was for me but I loved everything about the studio! The instructor wasn't as personable but she was very upbeat with the instructions and making sure we weren't cutting corners, haha. I want to try the Millbrae location as I see the owner Sofia teaches there more frequently! Super cute merch available for sale, fans while we're dying during the exercises and bathrooms to use which is a plus because other pilates (this is Lagree) studios I've been to don't allow bathroom usage, only for employees.

I'm a wheelchair user and had been a member at Primetime for a couple of years. The equipment suited my needs well enough. However, the elevator began malfunctioning with increasing frequency -- breaking down multiple times a month -- to the point where I was once stuck inside it. On other occasions, I made the trip to the gym only to be turned away because it was out of service. Since all the equipment I rely on is on the second floor, a broken elevator effectively meant no access for me. The real issue wasn't the maintenance failures -- it was how management handled them. After several days of trying to reach the club manager, I finally got him on the phone. I made a simple, reasonable request: could they notify me when the elevator was down so I wouldn't make an unnecessary trip? Without any hesitation, he told me this was a "liability" for them, cancelled my membership effective immediately, and hung up. No acknowledgment, no apology, no discussion. I understand that equipment breaks down. What I don't understand is treating a paying member's accessibility concern as something to be discarded rather than addressed. I'll let you draw your own conclusions -- I just wanted to make sure this experience was on the record.

The Burlingame studio size is slightly bigger than the Milbrae location but has no windows so it gives more of a dark room with pulsing music, Barry's type of vibe. As with Barry's workouts, the music can get pretty loud (my Apple Watch always gives me the noise decibel warning) so I would recommend earplugs. Ownership aside, the workouts are consistent throughout the different studios. The format of the workouts alternate between assault biking and floor exercises (which can be strength movements using barbells, dumbbells, or kettlebells, or more plyometric/cardio focused movements) for 35 minutes, followed by a short core workout and stretches at the end. The fast pace of the intervals and switching between the bikes and the floor can be a little chaotic at first, but after you've taken a class it's pretty easy to follow. I think it's a great format for those who want a good balance of cardio and strength training in every workout. If you want extra butt kicking, I recommend taking Coach Euni's classes. Your legs and abs will be crying after her bike pushes and core exercises, but I love it! A few things to note about the Burlingame studio: -It seems to be the most popular so there are the most class time options but classes fill up quick. If you want to sign up for the weekday early morning ones, you usually have to do it a week in advance when they open (though if you waitlist, you do usually make it off the waitlist). -Because the classes are so full, the studio can feel crowded, especially during transitions as you are trying to grab/rerack weights or dodge people to get to/from your bike. -The popular class times (weekday early mornings, many weekend classes) are blacked out for ClassPass registration. -It's in downtown Burlingame so parking is a B unless you're taking one of the early weekday classes. If you're going for a weekday PM class or weekend 8:15 or later class, good luck and factor in parking time.

Let me count the ways how much I miss and love Equinox…read more Yes, I know--it's a high-end gym. But you truly get what you pay for. I was a member of this location for over a decade, and since moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, I can honestly say there is nothing quite like it. The nearest one to me now is in Atlanta, and I still miss the San Mateo club regularly. This location has everything you could possibly want in a fitness facility--and then some. The Fitness Floor Downstairs is a beautifully air-conditioned workout space designed for people who are serious about exercising. No distractions, no crowds hovering by the windows--just a clean, focused environment. You'll find: * Full weight training equipment * Recumbent bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills * Dedicated spin, Pilates, TRX, and group fitness studios * A large open stretching area with foam rollers * Cold, filtered water stations throughout * Staff available for spotting if you're training solo It's efficient, professional, and thoughtfully designed. Locker Rooms & Amenities The locker rooms feel more like a boutique hotel than a gym. They are consistently spotless and fully stocked with: * Plush towel service * Spacious showers with teak benches * Steam rooms infused with eucalyptus * Complimentary razors, Q-tips, and personal care items * Premium Kiehl's products It's luxurious, yes--but also incredibly practical. You can comfortably get ready for work, dinner, or travel without feeling rushed. The Rooftop Pool One of the standout features is the heated rooftop pool. It has multiple lap lanes, cabanas, and water aerobics equipment, and it truly feels like a mini country club in the middle of downtown San Mateo. The pool is heated year-round, which means you can swim in any season--something you quickly get spoiled by. They even provide sunscreen from Supergoop!, along with full towel service. It's those little details that make the experience feel elevated. Classes, Spa & Services The class offerings are extensive and easy to manage through the app. Signing in is seamless--just scan your phone and go. Highlights include: * Yoga in a beautiful bamboo studio with HEPA filtration and ceiling fans * Pilates (available as private, duo, or small-group sessions) * A full-service spa on the upper level * A juice bar and retail shop featuring premium fitness apparel Everything feels intentional, polished, and well-maintained. Location & Convenience The club is located right in the heart of downtown San Mateo, making it incredibly walkable. There are restaurants, grocery stores, and cafés nearby, including one of my favorite bakeries and specialty markets. Parking is also surprisingly easy for a downtown location: * Two-hour validation * Surface lot, garage, and rooftop parking options That convenience makes a big difference in daily use. Value & Membership Yes, membership can be expensive. However, many employers offer corporate discounts, which can make the cost more manageable. In my case, the value absolutely justified the price because I used the facility regularly and took advantage of the amenities. Even when I relocated, canceling my membership was straightforward and professional--no pressure, no hassle. Bottom Line Equinox San Mateo set the standard for what a fitness club should be: clean, thoughtfully designed, service-oriented, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
