I've seen many ig stories about WestCore for months and after hearing about it from a friend, I finally made it to the new Millbrae studio. All I can say is it was totally worth the wait! As a mom of three finding "me time" is a rarity, especially with a newborn, but I'm so happy that I used this time on finally trying this class! I decided to start with the Beginner's Foundation class with Sofia, and she was awesome! Sofia was upbeat, patient, and super attentive throughout. She made sure everyone in class had great form and she kept the energy high the entire time. The class was pretty challenging and worked muscles I didn't even know could be targeted. My abs, hips, lower back, and core were all on fire and sore for days(in the best way!) My partner joined me, and we both walked out of the studio smiling and sweaty, trying to plan our next Pilates session. The vibe was perfect for beginners as it was welcoming, supportive, and overall motivating. Can't wait to return to WestCore. We are officially hooked! read more

I am still a beginner in lagree, and have taken a few classes already, but Mona recommended strongly that I should have taken a foundations class first. I understand that each lagree studio works differently and has different techniques, but she might have been right. However, Mona was really supportive of me, fixing my form throughout class and I really appreciated that! The reformers here could tilt up/lay flat, and it def seem bigger than most reformers I've tried. They have so many big dyson fans around the studio! A suggestion that I would make would be having small amenties in the restroom; hair ties, spray deodorant would be a great touch. If you forget to bring grippy socks, it will be $15 and they have it right in front of the studio. read more

I took my mom and sister to try a lagree class here and we took a beginner's class. We took a class with Trisha and from the very beginning I felt like the class was unwelcoming from the instructor. Having taken many lagree classes and solidcore classes as well as other fitness classes, I know what good cueing and coaching can be - and this instructor really lacked that. Literally night and day between all the other classes I've taken at other studios in terms of quality of instruction and energy. Instead of being motivating, she came across as irritated - each correction felt like we were really being scolded. Her descriptions of exercises weren't explained well at all, and she offered no encouragement. Usually at lagree studios, instructors will explain exercises with so many details that you could figure out the movements and know which muscles to think about in the exercises without looking up. Comments like "good." or "keep your hands by your sides" were said in a way that felt very dismissive and sharp rather than supportive. The vibe reminded me of a strict coach who's frustrated with you lol. This was disappointing because it was my mom and my sister's first time trying out lagree, and I wish their experience had been with someone more positive and patient. The studio space seems nice, but I'd definitely reccomend taking the beginner class with a different instructor if you're new. read more

A great challenging workout! They have the new mega pro reformers that have a sectioned carriage and can tilt up, which I haven't really seen at a lot of other Lagree places. Highly recommend Mona, who I've taken a few classes with. She always has a killer workout in store for you, but is great about giving options for modifications/amplifications depending on where you're at physically. She's also great at helping you set intention for your workout and being mindful of your body. It's one of the few Lagree studios on the Peninsula - located in downtown Burlingame, so super convenient if you need to stop somewhere nearby. Street parking - easier to find a metered spot, but there are also some free spots if you have the time to look. They're on ClassPass for drop-ins, but have a lot of regular clients as well. The classes tend to be booked out about 2 weeks in advance, but people usually will drop so recommend waitlisting! read more

I did my very first class at WestCore on 9/2 -- the Foundations for Beginners class with Aurora -- and it was such a great introduction. I'm a total novice when it comes to Lagree, so I was definitely nervous walking in, but the vibe at WestCore was so welcoming that I immediately felt at ease. Aurora was amazing. She explained everything clearly, gave small corrections that never made me feel awkward, and kept the energy up with a playlist that was so on point. Even though I was brand new, I felt guided the whole time -- never lost or left behind. The workout itself was tough (my legs were shaking!), but in a way that felt empowering rather than intimidating. I went with one of my friends, and we both agreed it was challenging but worth it -- we were sore for days afterward, which made us laugh but also showed just how effective it was. Street parking nearby was easy, which made the whole experience even smoother. I've tried other studios like XCORE (which I'm currently doing) and even Criminal Fitness, but WestCore honestly surprised me. As a beginner to Lagree, this class gave me the confidence to keep going and reminded me that starting something new can actually be fun. Tried Lagree Pilates for the first time at Westcore Burlingame, took Caryl's 45-minute class. I've only done a beginner reformer class before, and this felt kinda similar but definitely different! The machine they use is called a Megaformer, low impact but seriously high intensity. It's a full body workout, but this class focused a lot on lower body and worked one side for a while before switching. Caryl was super attentive, always checking on form. I honestly didn't have the endurance to finish everything and found some of the movements a bit too repetitive, but omg... I was so sore the next day. Glutes, inner thighs, hamstrings, obliques, core, even a bit of upper body. Total burner! read more

If you're looking for a killer workout and a great community, look no further than Westcore. It's one of the few Lagree studios located in the Peninsula with the megaformer machine. Rumor has it that the new mega pro machines will be coming soon - fingers crossed! Sofia and her team of instructors are all so friendly and welcoming. The studio is also super cute with fun mood lighting and plenty of cubbies to store your personal items. Classes can be easily modified for beginners and those familiar with the method, so you'll always be in for a challenge. Each class is 45 minutes long and there's usually a focus on core, legs, and arms. Personally, I find some moves aren't "traditional" Lagree moves and they tend to add in cardio bursts, but I appreciate this because it gets my heart rate up more than a typical Lagree class would. The studio is pretty popular and classes often book out 2 weeks in advance. I recommend adding yourself to the waitlist because I've found there's always cancellations and I'm usually able to get into the class I want. Parking can be hit or miss depending on time of day. There's metered parking, but also some free 2-hour spots nearby. Bonus: first class free and you might see the resident pup if you're lucky! Yes, yes, yes a million times recommend! For the first reason being: Latina owned -- Mexican American owned. There is not enough Latina representation in Lagree or Pilates. I came here a little over a month ago (terrified to go back) because of how intense it was for me but I loved everything about the studio! The instructor wasn't as personable but she was very upbeat with the instructions and making sure we weren't cutting corners, haha. I want to try the Millbrae location as I see the owner Sofia teaches there more frequently! Super cute merch available for sale, fans while we're dying during the exercises and bathrooms to use which is a plus because other pilates (this is Lagree) studios I've been to don't allow bathroom usage, only for employees. read more

Truly a great (and humbling) experience. While I'm not claiming to be in the best shape, I am a regular at OrangeTheory and have gotten back into running despite a myriad of injuries. Therefore, I came in excited with an "I got this - should be easy breezy" attitude only to feel like I got my arse handed to me...in a good way. Although it's not high intensity, you definitely will feel all of your muscles engaged with a whole lot of sweat dripping everywhere. Sofia is as delightful as she is knowledgable, a fantastic instructor who makes sure your form is good and that you're having fun. The playlist is fire and really gets you going. But what is the best part of this entire experience? Gatsby! The resident pup is there to help motivate you to keep going and pumping you up before and after class. I love weightlifting and being in the gym, but I felt myself plateauing when it came to my goals. I pride myself on being pretty strong, but every single time I come to westcore I get humbled in the best way. The instructors are amazing (catch me here on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays!!) and are incredibly personable. If you start coming often and have a schedule, they will absolutely know your name and know your specific strengths and what you want to work on. Shoutout Rebecca yesterday for calling me out to add another spring when she KNEW (and I doubted) that I could add more weight... she was right. The owner, Sofia, is also amazing. Any issue you may have she is there helping to solve (Gatsby is also helping to solve). I have been stronger than I have ever been from 5+ years of weightlifting, my core is strong, and I'm dropping weight. Don't come here expecting traditional Pilates (I've done both and this is extremely different but a common misconception). They work on time under tension, to the point where my whole body is shaking after the first 5 minutes of class. It's 45 minutes long and they give you all 45 (no cheating and cutting corners) Overall, this is a great community and a great workout. read more

The gang did a 7:30 full body class with Cat, and it was no joke! My first pilates class ever and couldn't believe what a good workout it was. I knew it was going to be hard, but I thought 45 minutes wasn't too long, so I'd be okay...My legs were shaking the entire time. That being said, Cat really knows when to push you, and I appreciate all her words of encouragement! The studio is beautiful, and I love the mirrors and cubbies in the back. I learned about WestCore Studio through social media. I signed up for a free first class on their website. I'm happy that I discovered WestCore because it's a great option for Lagree outside of SF! You can easily spot the studio with a sign in the front, near the cross streets of Primrose and Howard. There is metered street parking around the area. As I walked in, I was greeted by Gatsby as some may refer to as Head of PAW-blic Relations! Along with the cutest dog, I met Sofia who is the owner of WestCore. She's sweet and very attentive. I enjoyed the 45 minute workout on the Megaformer, and I appreciated her modifying my form to ensure proper technique. The studio is clean and bright with a nice addition of plants throughout the space. There are two rows of Megaformers, cubbies to store your belongings behind the mirrors, and two restrooms with products to freshen up after a good sweat. Overall, this is a great studio for those who are looking to begin their Lagree journey or if you're more experienced! I am excited for WestCore Studio to grow their community. read more

TL;DR - A super efficient strength building, core focused 45 min workout in a clean studio taught by an encouraging group of instructors with diverse and unique teaching and programming styles. I've been doing Megaformer workouts for several years and worked out at many different studios in around the Bay Area. Westcore is one of the most welcoming studios I've been to. Sofia is the owner and also teaches a lot of the classes. She is sweet and really connects with all the clients and I feel a sense of community every time I walk through the door. I met both Sofia and Elysha when they were teaching at Heartcore and I'm so glad to still be able to work out with them at Westcore. Their classes are definitely ones that get you sweaty and leave you feeling sore for days after. Lagree fitness is usually called "pilates on steroids" which isn't totally accurate. The megaformer is a machine with springs that can be added to increase resistance and weight. The workout is low impact so it doesn't strain or hurt your joints but your working your muscles increasing strength and muscle tone and most of all, sweating and working hard The classes are also suited for beginners, so no matter where you are in your fitness journey, I think this would be the perfection addition to your workout regimen. I took my first ever Megaformer workout at this beautiful studio! Right when I walked in, I was instantly greeted with theeee most adorable dog Gatsby :) I was so nervous for my first class, but Sofia made the whole workout enjoyable. Sofia is not only an awesome trainer but she is also the OWNER. Her energy was beyond positive and you can tell she was extremely passionate about helping people gain confidence in themselves. She knew I was a beginner and made it a point to help me get through each movement while still teaching a full class. I exercised every part of my body and it was great!! The Megaformer machine is no joke. Lastly, not only was the studio and workout a great vibe, but they had such great music from a LIVE DJ on site during the class. TLDR - killer 45-min lagree workout on the megaformer with instructors who really know what they're doing!! I love love love this studio and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone even slightly interested in lagree! Tough 45-minute workout on the megaformer for sure, but makes you feel so good and STRONG after. I've taken class with Cat who is so sweet, and really motivates you to get the correct form down! She heavily emphasized sloooow, controlled movements until your booty is shaking!! (And not cause the music was bumpin'!) Really knowledgeable and definitely knows how to target areas you've never had sore before! The studio itself has cute aesthetics with a motivational mirror. The check in process is easy, there's awesome music, a killer workout and they have you wipe your megaformer after every session! A+ for cleanliness! Parking isn't hard and the studio is close to so many good restaurants. I like getting an açaí bowl at Palmetto Superfoods down the street after :) BONUS star!!
