I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

Compared to the classes I took in the past I didn't find the instructor to be helpful. When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

During a session, I barely work up a sweat, but I know I've worked plenty when I feel a just-right amount of muscle soreness the next day. Due to a back injury, this is important so that I don't create more problems from over-doing the workout. If I have a sore spot when I arrive, the workout is modified to accommodate the issue. Purifying Pilates has been a fundamental component in healing, strengthening and maintaining my back. During my workouts, we target all of my muscle groups, not just the core. As a result, I have occasionally surprised my husband with my arm strength, and I've got better posture than him. Rene and Martine attend supplemental Pilates workshops, which shows their commitment to keeping up-to-date on the latest techniques. They bring that knowledge back to the studio, which helps to change things up a little during the sessions, and keeps it interesting. I look forward to my time here; it's private and relaxing. The studio has it's own restroom, a space to prepare and enjoy a cup of tea, and it's convenient with cheap downtown parking directly behind the studio. Rene and Martine are very friendly, and make me feel comfortable exercising there. They also sell things like yoga socks, toe-stretchers (feels really good!), exercise balls, thera-bands, microwave hot pads (Smart Spine, I think it's called), etc. to use at home. There's a small selection of nutrition bars and drinks for sale, too. Thanks to Pilates, I'm pain-free and active, two years and counting!

Sarah was extremely knowledgeable, creative, and a very great educator. She was thorough in her explanations of the different moves and created modifications based on what my body was needing at the time and continued to provide modifications as my body grew stronger. Her classes flow seamlessly and progress in a way that is balanced. I always feel as though I'm getting a well rounded workout and Sarah has focused on the entire body. I always leave feeling as though I've had a great workout and moved my body in a way that is healthy and strong.

I attended a Lagree class a few weeks ago, became sick during class, and had to leave early. Unfortunately I left behind a pair of designer sunglasses. Since then, I have tried repeatedly to get in contact with the studio by text, phone, email, and even by physically going there multiple times. Their phone number appears to be disconnected, my texts and calls went unanswered, and after multiple emails I finally received one reply with a blurry photo of a pair of sunglasses that were clearly not mine. I responded immediately to clarify, and once again received no response. I have also gone to the studio in person multiple times hoping to simply speak with someone, but despite the studio operating classes, I have not been able to get anyone to answer the door or help me. At this point, the sunglasses are almost secondary to how bizarre it is that a customer has virtually no reliable way to contact this business. For a fitness studio where people regularly leave personal belongings while taking class, having a functioning phone number and some kind of responsive customer service feels like the bare minimum.

As a mom of three finding "me time" is a rarity, especially with a newborn, but I'm so happy that I used this time on finally trying this class! I decided to start with the Beginner's Foundation class with Sofia, and she was awesome! Sofia was upbeat, patient, and super attentive throughout. She made sure everyone in class had great form and she kept the energy high the entire time. The class was pretty challenging and worked muscles I didn't even know could be targeted. My abs, hips, lower back, and core were all on fire and sore for days(in the best way!) My partner joined me, and we both walked out of the studio smiling and sweaty, trying to plan our next Pilates session. The vibe was perfect for beginners as it was welcoming, supportive, and overall motivating. Can't wait to return to WestCore. We are officially hooked!
