I love my pedicure. The male technician did a splendid job with my gel coat. However, I hate my manicure! They are extremely overpriced for the work done. The old woman acted as if she had never done acrylic before. Be it negligence or bad eyesight it is without saying that I won't be coming back. The nails are sideways and uneven. Having moved from the north side to University Village, I went from having the luxury of finding a decent nail salon in every city block to now only finding one within 3 miles. Unfortunately, before my experience at West Loop Nail & Spa, I had wasted my time & money trying out different nail salons in the area that either had average services at outrageous prices or below average services at cheap rates. Today I believe I finally found a solid nail salon I can count on for my Mani/Pedi needs. My experience at West Loop Nail & Spa was pretty great! I had a no-chip manicure for $35 (average price). The service was faster than I expected and didn't seem to jeopardize quality. The atmosphere was relaxing, modern, and fun. Most importantly, the area seemed very clean and up-to-date. Overall, I gave this place 4 stars. Even though it looks great now, I do not yet know how my no-chip will hold up after 2 weeks. Also, during my manicure a man (maybe the manager) was very, almost too attentive with the technicians (lots of uncomfortable hovering). i called about 7 minutes before i showed up on a Friday before a busy holiday weekend. Vanessa took me right away for a no-chip manicure, and the place was FULL of people-- i'm talking, like, two empty chairs at 3:00pm. Vanessa was VERY professional, which i feel is hard to find in one-off nail salons. she greeted about half of the clients who walked in by name, answered the phone, instructed her employees, all while executing the fastest, most even no-chip mani i've had in the west loop, without cutting corners. i was in and out in under half an hour! i actually think getting a manicure is a waste of time and kind of a chore, but I'd go back to West Loop Nail and Spa to see Vanessa if i needed some (quick) R&R. read more

My best friend made an appointment for me. I am a low key guy who occasionally likes to get pedis and add on the mani. Everything went well until I was accidentally cut by one of the manicurists. My friend, a physician, attempted to tell her to just apply pressure. They apply a certain medicine that stops the bleeding, and we were just a bit concerned about not being told what they were applying on my cut skin. I understand accidents happen and the learning point is perhaps to inform the customer and allow them to make a choice, and perhaps offer a complimentary service in light of common mishaps that could happen. read more

I never post reviews. I live in New York and get my nails done all the time, never had this problem. After seeing the first coat, asked woman to paint my whole nail to the edges on each side of the nail, she nods at me. Then does it the same way again. When I said something she replies "if I go close to cuticle it look messy" like what??? Isn't that what nail polish remover is for? If you get it on the skin you just clean it up. My daughter (Decoi Jones) bought my other daughter and I a Sport Pedicure package via Living Social. I was dissatisfied too, my nails started to chip the same day, the paint is coming off of my nails and toes and it's been less than a week. My toes are a little rough but I felt like they didn't handle them well I mean it's your job, if you can't do anything about it, give me my money back and let me go else where. I am adding one more Star with this update! I have been going here for some time now, and I have consistently gotten greats service. Last time, my no chip started to change color (they did warn me about this when I initially got it that this may occur with this particular color/brand). However, it was much more than normal shade change. I called Vanessa (the owner), and she was very nice about this and had me come back to fix my nails. She fixed my nails. Things can always go wrong, but I respect the business that handle it well. They did just that! I also wanted to mention that while I was at the salon there was a very rude customer and Vanessa did a great job of handing her with out getting worked up over the customer's unreasonable requests which can ruin the mood of other in the salon. I'm new to the area and my friend suggested West Loop Nails with the caveat that it's a little more expensive. I didn't mind because I'm always willing to pay more for quality. I was in today for a no chip removal and basic mani. *Twon* peeled himself away from his daydream to get me going, and shortly afterward, 4 or 5 clients came in and nail techs magically appeared to work. This is the second time I've come on a weekday and the place seems virtually empty. There is usually just Twon and the woman watching Netflix on her phone. Anyway, though I took the emptiness as a good sign (I can be in and out on my lunch break), I now see things differently. The first time I came, a tall and warm male tech came from the back to do my no chip mani. He was so warm his hands were sweaty and he held my fingers too tightly during my entire mani. Aside from one bubble in my thumb nail (which he denied even existed, even while I pointed it out to him), he did a good job. I just felt dirty at the end. Anyway. Today. Twon. Rough. Acts like he wasn't in the mood to do nails. Ever. Unnecessarily rough scraping of shellac. Filed. Buffed. Refused to cut or acknowledge the broken nails I pointed out and ASKED TO BE CUT OFF. Roughly pushed back cuticles. Then dropped oil on. Rubbed lotion and did hand massage. IN THAT ORDER. Confusing. Now, I wish I hadn't asked, but I did: "Are you going to cut my cuticles?" (With those possibly unsanitary cuticle cutters you've kept concealed under the dirty towel you're doing my nails on?) I wanted them cut. I love how my short nail beds look after I get a mani because the removal of my cuticles just makes my hands look better. He acted annoyed that I asked, as if he planned to do it all along. By this time, he had also clasped my hands together while wrapping them in a steaming hot towel, sprayed my nails with alcohol, and buffed again. I was confused about this process. Everything got real clear though when working on my SECOND cuticle, HE CUT ME! I guess he was trying to cut a hang nail (that I didn't know I had; there certainly wasn't one bothering me), and when I squealed in pain, he grabbed a tiny bottle of turquoise stuff and squeezed a glob on me while answering my query with, "it's antiseptic." I just about screamed in pain then, while jumping up to rinse the BLOOD OFF MY FINGER. I went to the sink and washed and rinsed for a while, but it still bled. I told Twon I was done, asked how much I owed, and told him he shouldn't have been cutting so roughly. He said he was just cutting my hang nail and that it was a tough one to cut. What? That sounds like victim blaming, so take this $5 and I'll be sure not to return. My fcking finger is still sore. read more

I had been here once before and the lady did a great job. I was in and out in an hour for a no chip manicure and loved the results. I went in again yesterday and the experience was awful. I was the only customer in there but they had my nails wrapped to take off the no chip for 25 minutes. The man doing the manicure was awful. I kept telling him he was hurting me and he just ignored me. I have had many, many manicures and never been in this much pain. My fingers are raw, hunks of skin missing, and I was there for almost 2 hours. He cut me several times. I will never go back! read more

Went here for the first time this weekend & was really looking forward to getting a no-chipmani/pedi. I had an appt. w/ my sister and her friend at 3:15PM. It was the middle of the day on a Saturday and there were a few people there. When I arrived I let them know I had an appt. and was meeting w/ 2 other girls. I arrived a little earlier than them about 10 mins. I was greeted but was never instructed to pick out any colors in the mean time or shown the no-chip color options. The rest of my party arrived and when they did they let us know they only had 2 foot spas available and then they would take me next. I thought ok fine..I don't mind waiting so we can sit next to each other. However after waiting about 10-15 minutes and my sister and her friend were well into their pedicures I still was not helped. Finally they sat me next to my sister and then I was left waiting with my feet in cold water and I had now been at this salon for a good 45 minutes without receiving any kind of service. Finally they had someone come over and put acetone on my nails to remove my previous no chip and then they finally decided to start on my pedicure when my sister was basically done with hers. I was clearly upset about having to wait and they did not apologize for making me wait. Might I add that the pumice scrubber they used looked very worn and dirty and was clearly not new. When they started my manicure I wasn't even seated next to the rest of my party and in the process the male who was doing my manicure was not very gentle at all and actually nicked my finger. He asked "oh sorry does that hurt?" WELL OBVIOUSLY. ugh fine! Do what you gotta do and let's just get this mani/pedi from hell over. After he finished cleaning up my nails they then moved me so I could sit w/ my sister and were trying to be nice when they could tell that thus far I was really displeased with their services. Before that though..I had to go out in the pedicure flip flops and REFEED my meter although I had put 1 hour and 40 minutes in it thinking that would be more than enough time. NOT. The price was $62 for a no-chip mani + pedi which before coming here, I thought was a pretty good deal but after it was all said & done I think you get what you pay for here. While my mani/pedi turned out fine and what I expected..it was my overall experience that merit 2 stars. The customer service was not great and I've definitely experienced better at the usual nail spa I go to in the S Loop (Spa O).They didn't give a massage like they do at other nail spas & their hot towels looked very worn. I am really tired of these sub-par nail shops. I came here because my regular place was booked up and my sister and friend were coming here. I was getting my beloved no-chip and pedi and they were getting regular mani/pedis. I should have gone first because I was going to take the longest but I went to the bathroom for a sec and they had already started with my sister; it was very confusing and we ended up being there for 2.5 hours. No big deal, but I got the OPI no-chip, and they kept trying to get me to do the Shellac (which looks streaky) or the Gelac (which chips fast) because I think they are faster. I had to micromanage the whole process which was annoying, and in the end, the next day one of my nails chipped. For the first time ever with OPI for me in a year of getting no-chip. I came back two days later and they fixed it to their credit, but the guy rushed it and there's bubbles in the nail. All in all, SUB-PAR. LESSON LEARNED. I will start making appointments at my regular place and pay more to get a good, reliable job done. I'm tired of paying for garbage. read more

I went back and forth on what to rate this place. I like how close it is to my place and how pretty and clean the salon is inside. The decor is girly and pretty and seems very clean and up kept. I have been there twice now. The first time I got a no-chip manicure and a pedicure. I showed up an hour before they closed and was there for almost 2 hours. I didn't mind because I wasn't in a hurry, but it was a really long time. The gentleman that did the no-chip manicure did good except he didn't paint all the way to the cuticle so the grow-up was evident pretty quickly. The manicure was ok... not much of a manicure... they basically rub your arms with lotion for a minute or two and then put a hot towel over them The no chip is $35. The pedicure was ok. The chairs are nice but the woman couldn't understand me very well (and vice versa) so when I told her about a couple sore spots on my feet she kept forgetting about them so it was kind of painful. The polish still looks good though after several weeks so I can't complain but it could've been a more enjoyable experience. The pedicure was $35 also. Today I showed up at 4:00 (an hour before they close) and they asked if I had an appointment (which I did not). She told me I could either come back or wait till 4:30 as people had appts before me. I was ok with that as it was the weekend so I expected them to be busy. I waited and relaxed and read magazines. Promptly at 4:30 someone helped me. I got a no-chip manicure. The lady was nice but when shaping my nails I repeatedly told her I wanted round. She filed my nails into true squares and I almost had to grab the file and do it myself. Finally she got it right. She started cutting my cuticles, which I really don't care for.... I wish she would've asked first. She cut them down so much that my fingers are still red. She even made my finger bleed and another one very sore. After she realized how unpleased I was she seemed to be a little more attentive. After that, things were great. My manicure looks incredible and I'm much more pleased with the application than last time. I'm hoping my next experience will be a little bit better. If it's not, I'll definitely be looking for a new salon. Oh yeah, they do have a frequent visit card (which I forgot to get punched today) where you get a free manicure after 10 visits. People are always walking out super happy. I just moved from St. Louis and the places I went to there completely pampered me so I do have very high expectations. read more

I came in for a pedicure. Typically any nail technician will ask you whether or not you want your nails filed down or clipped. My technician did not ask and just cut them super short - I was not happy. The leg/foot massage was, at MOST, 3minutes total, which in my opinion is unacceptable. I would expect to have EACH leg/foot massaged for AT LEAST 5 minutes. Its not like they were busy and were trying to get me out of the chair. read more

After being a devout customer to Allure Nails in the West Loop for over a year now, I decided I needed a change after the quality had went drastically downhill. It's hard to find a place that does acrylics anymore, much less good acrylics for a good price but I took the plunge after hearing many good things about West Loop Nail. $32 for a full set, $22 for a fill fit well in my budget and they did a great job! My nails are shaped well, painted nicely, and the customer service is just wonderful. They had E! on the entire time which made the service fly by and the whole salon is very clean. I've gotten endless compliments on them in just the last few days and this will definitely be my go-to nail place in the West Loop from now on. read more

I have been a customer of Tina's for a few years now. She does a great job with my acrylics/no chip. This review is for the salon itself. Please hire more people that do acrylics!!! When Tina leaves for vacation (sometimes up to a full month) it forces me to go somewhere else and i probably won't return as a customer if I end up liking my nails. As a business owner you should never rely on one person for a specific service. Either train the other staff members or find someone else that has experience. Thanks read more

Right now, you can get a free manicure with a purchase of a pedicure and $10 off most services (fill in and pedicure, spa mani pedi, gel set, full set pink and white). I came here with my friend Gloria and I was happy we didn't have to wait, but said to see there weren't more people enjoying this brand new, beautifully designed nail salon. I haven't had a mediocre pedicure like this since I stopped going to the $13.00 spots. For $28.00 the foot scrub was about 30 Seconds per foot , the message not worth getting oily and the saddest part was my square nails got rounded off. They were perfect before and I asked her to keep them square ! The paint job left too much cuticle and btw she really didn't trim my cuticles. I'm so disappointed . I was hoping to find my local spa. Came in to get my nails done for my wedding in 2 days. Let the lady know so she could - oh I dont know, make an extra effort to do a nice job? Asked for rounded toes, got weird square half assed filed toes. Missing polish on parts of my nails and all over sloppy. Manicure was OK minus the fact that 3 nails had bubbles due to the lady just globbing on the top coat to rush us out. Very disappointed. Won't ever go back. Was extra concerned that the lady next to me told the manager her nails chipped after 1 day the last time she came in- so the manager had to tell the tech to do an extra good job this time. The manager was nice about everything but it was one of the worst mani pedis I have ever gotten. I wish I could remember the girl that did my no chip manicure and pedicure. I came here because my friend had a groupon and I read all the great reviews. When I sat down in the great massage chair my feet were first scalded with burning water and then reimbursed in ice water to make up for the burn. The actual pedicure was pretty good. I had previously had an opi no chip manicure and I assumed that I was picking another opi no chip manicure but it turned out to be gel that was put on very thick and streaky. My cuticle was cut so badly it took a week to heal, I get manicures a lot and I've never had a one star experience before. The portly girl was very nice, but did a horrible job and also changed the price when I was checking out. Not a big deal but kind of annoying since I asked her about the price before I sat down. I am guessing I just went to the wrong tech, but either way I'm not coming back. read more

OMG! A nail salon spa CLOSE to home that does everything I want in a mani/pedi....for a great price...considering the area. Yay, Yay and YAY!!! After leaving an hour later than planned (typical) to head north to get my nails done...I found myself face to face with evil traffic. While I was cursing to myself and already filling up with road rage...I suddenly had an idea...yelp locations NEAR me....oh IPhone, how I love thee. After sitting in miserable traffic (there was a line to get on 94 for crying out loud!), I checked out a few places in the area. This caught my eye (since I was driving local and approaching it) and after reading the great reviews (I was barely moving, ok!), I called and asked about prices, colors, etc. They seem to fit the bill and lucky for me, they do mani/pedi for $32 on Wednesdays (and Mondays too, FYI)! SCORE! 15 min later, I found myself in a cozy chair, getting my feet soaked, relieved to be out of the ugly Chicago traffic. Now, that itself was relaxing. The service was fantastic! They did the pedi the way I like (picky girl here) and their massage chairs are pretty damn high tech. Very friendly and pretty fast too - I coulda saved me .75 cents dangit. Oh well...better safe than sorry :) I got there at 6pm (only cuz I had to wait for the meters to work again) and was out by 7:20 - dried and all. I noticed that more people started rolling in closer to 7 so I came at a great time. But keep in mind, there is no meter parking from 4-6 on weekdays- other than that, looks like parking won't be too much of a problem. I am so so so so so so HAPPY that I found a place closer to home! I'm pretty loyal to my guys up north since they cost less I'm picky, but for a measly $2 bucks more than my usual, West Loop Nail and Spa got it down pat and they are closer, saving me a 30-60 min drive round trip. I have come here a couple times but my experience a few days ago was horrible. I made an appointment to have a pedicure and just relax while having it done. I was trying to decide on the nail color and I was literally rushed to pick one. I carried a few with me to the chair and I felt i wasn't satisfied with the nail colors I picked.  The lady (had glasses) was so much in a rush while doing my pedicure. I just wanted to relax while getting a pedicure but i had to pay attention to make sure she wouldn't forget to scrub the bottom of my feet. Thats how much in a hurry she was. Im not sure what the hurry was especially if you are paying for a service and there wasn't anyone waiting.  I have had a better experience and next time i will definitely be picking a different nail tech. read more

I absolutely love West Loop Nails. I have been coming here since right after they opened, and their service has remained consistent the whole time. Andy the manager is the best, and really takes pride in what he does. The pedicures here last FOREVER, and the no chip manicure is cost effective, and will last until your nails grow out. They are not overpriced, and do a great job. Depending on who you get to do your pedicure, you'll either get a super relaxing leg massage with salt scrub, or just a quick one-two pat down. read more

I have had my no chip done at least 4-5 times and I am not very impressed. Twice i have had to go back and ask them to fix my no chip within days after getting it done. My no chip should last two weeks not a couple days. The third time i went they didn't cut my cuticles properly. I will say that the pedicures are always nice, but I don't think the no chips are done very well. Also, this may be a matter of preference but I am very tired of having to leave a tip in cash. I like to get my no chip done every two weeks and I don't always have cash on me. They need to get a square machine or start incorporating the option for tip when i pay with my credit card. read more

I'm definitely a little disappointed with the dip manicure I got today. I've been here before and the last dip manicure I had was great. The dog is also insanely cute. Today after leaving though the dip polish on top of my nails is so thick and uneven. You can feel lumps and ridges over my nails and you can see the unevenness as well. After lunch with the boyfriend, I decided to call around some spots in the area to see where I could get in. They said they were pretty empty and had no problem taking a walk in.
