I came in needed to update my glasses, and Fernando was able to see if my existing frame was in good enough shape to use and only replace the lenses (which they were!) and then helped me order my lenses and run them through insurance. My annual eye exam was due, so I decided to get my exam at West Loop Eye Care and look for some new prescription glasses. I will never go back to West Loop Eye Care ever again. They have had two employees there that are so pushy that it's a complete turn off. They try to upsell anything they can, ask for Facebook and Yelp reviews, etc. But the worst part, is that they push their contacts on you and won't verify your Rx with 1-800-Contacts. This has happened to me twice where the pushy women salesperson called me instead and tried to sell me on ordering my contacts through them. They take so long to verify with 1-800-Contacts that the contacts are eventually just sent to me w/o Rx verification (which is indeed legal). Stay away from this place. Pushy salespeople that don't care about their customers are what you will find here. I'll never go back. However, I will say that I have found their doctors to be competent and nice people so that's the only regret I'll have about no longer being a customer here. read more

West Side Loop has changed eye doctors a few times in my 15 years I have been going to them, but the person that has always been there to meet, greet, and make sure your glasses are right for you , has been Manager Areli Boyas. Areli is patient, kind, and knows how to treat people with respect. She gives you an opportunity to try on, and find that perfect pair of eyeglasses without rushing you in and out. I am always glad to see her because I feel confident in her opinions and honesty. Trust me if glasses look bad on your Areli will let you know with a small shake of the head. :) Plus, she listens to your ideas about your glasses. I recently picked up my new pair of anti-reflective glasses and sunglasses and I couldn't be happier!! Getting lots of compliments from my friends and family. I love this place. They always seem to have a great selection in stock. I continue to get my eyewear from them despite no longer needing prescription glasses. Their employees have always been helpful, especially with helping me pick out frames that look good on my face. I've been struggling with dry eyes for the past year and the staff at West Loop have been driven to help me resolve this issue. I am grateful for their diligence and patience. I also had a prescription change mid-year and was able to easily exchange my unopened contacts for contacts having my updated prescription. This is literally the best experience I've ever had at an optometrist. I had an emergency - needed contacts in my hand within 1 hour. In desperation, I found the eye doctors closest to me and this place came up. I called the store, they were able to schedule me in 10 minutes after I called. I ran to the store, the clerk was so understanding and calming... He helped me with my insurance to make sure I could get as good a price as possible, and I got an eye exam, prescription, and contacts in my hand within 45 minutes. I've been a patient at West Loop Eye Care since early 2012 or so. The staff is super friendly and helpful; on my most recent visit, Fernando and Matt were a pleasure to be around, and I think they both have a real eye (pun intended) for what looks good when it comes to glasses. I was a little turned off when, during my last exam, the optometrist started talking about the eye drops and contact solutions that I should be using (and which the office sells), but there wasn't much sales pressure, so I took her comments for what they were: recommendations from a professional, which I think (hope) counts for something. I think that's also the first time that's ever happened, so I'm not knocking the place for it. I will also say that I think this might be on the pricier side of eye doctors if you opt to buy eyewear here, BUT, 1) it's been years since I went anywhere else, so I'm not saying that with full confidence, 2) the business is admittedly in the West Loop, so it shouldn't come as any surprise if you end up paying a little more than elsewhere, and 3) they have a gorgeous selection of designer eyewear to choose from, thanks to whoever selects their inventory. read more

I realized I had run out of contacts for my right eye way too late in the game. I panicked, jumped on Yelp, and found West Loop Eye Care right around my new office. The scheduling and intake over the phone was really easy. They also went out of their way to ensure my insurance was all set. I came in for my appointment and aside from having to fill out a few papers I was taken back to get the stupid eye puff test (I just hate it) and all the other eye measuring tests very quickly. Immediately following I met Dr. Faye. She is just adorable and super helpful. She was blown away by the fact that I had been in the wrong prescription for so long, which it appears previous doctors were just trying to make a bit more cash off of me. She spent extra time with me to make sure I was happy with the prescription I should be in. I then met with Fernando, the nicest man alive, and he put together my contact order, explained my benefits thoroughly and then discussed my glasses options. He pulled about 15 pairs of glasses for me to try based off my taste. Of course I went with the most expensive pair of Tom Ford glasses but they're super cute and Fernando threw me a little discount so I was like... YOLO. The best part of the experience was I never felt pushed, overwhelmed, or ripped off. They set me up with a year long supply of contacts and invited me back for free glasses adjustments. Medical appointments are something I absolutely dread. I know that I don't HAVE to do it, but I should...Adulting right? I made an appointment to have my yearly check up with Dr. Faye Gamboa. Dr. Gamboa is polite, personable, intelligent, and confident. I have never had such a pleasant and thorough eye exam before. I have had multiple issues with my right eye, contact discomfort, and blurred vision. Dr. Gamboa gave me preventable advice, suggested an amazing brand of contacts, and corrected my prescription. Check, check, and check! In addition, Fernando was amazingly patient with me when purchasing contacts and sunglasses. To be honest, I walked away thinking I paid a lot more than I should have. I called Fernando and again, he went through the prices with me and even offered to price match. In the end, I found out that the price was justified because I forgot that I had to purchase the double amount of contacts because I have two eyes (face palm). Also, I have compared their prices to other big retail stores. Trust me, especially if you have vision insurance, you are paying a fair and discounted price here! Also, Matt was extremely pleasant when helping me pick out a pair of glasses even though I didn't end up buying any. Dr. Margaret is outstanding, very professional, friendly, and spent a lot of time during my eye exam explaining everything she was doing and what she found. Matt, the optician, was awesome, and helped me pick out new glasses and order my year-supply of contacts. He worked with my insurance plan and some promotional codes to get me a great deal, and put a rush on my order so that I could get my glasses sooner. What a disappointment!!! I was a regular patient at this eye center but after my recent visit I couldn't be more dissatisfied. My go to person Areli is no longer there and now I hate this place. So different!! They are so rude and slow in helping you. They're so insistent on getting you to add something that is unnecessary to your purchase or purpose of the visit. Have been going to this place for many years now, maybe 9. And everything was great. Doctors have seen different ones during the years I have been going to them. However they used to, yes USED TO, have the best customer service ever. Areli was the best thing they had. Alejandro is great too!!! However I called to make an appointment and asked for Areli to find out she had been let go. Very disappointing. Seems to me maybe prejudice or maybe doctors just didn't like her but they are so wrong and I am sure many will agree with me. Doctors should worry about the customer service than their service. Areli and Alejandro spend more time with patients than doctors themselves. Result of this..... West Loop Eye Center has lost not only myself, but my husband and my daughter. 3 less patients they have. Too many places out there that are not prejudice that all people white, hispanic, whatever nationality or race they are get the same offers and coupon specials. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

I was informed that Local No. 1 and other union members are to be treated "differently" according to new management. This entails inflating prices, and poor customer service. I had the most amazing and wonderful experience at West Loop Eye Care! I recently moved to the West Loop and was looking for an eye doctor. I found a few places and called around. I then spoke with Matt from West Loop Eye Care and couldn't believe a human as kind as him existed! He helped me book an appointment, checked my insurance, and walked me through everything. When I arrived at my appointment I was greeted by such kind people. Dr. Malgorzata Kiwacz was so knowledgeable about eyes of course, but also chatted with me about other factors I had never been asked before by an eye doctor (i.e. my eyes are a little dry because I don't drink enough water, etc.) It was all very interesting and appreciated. Dominique the technician was so great with my exams and explained everything to me so I understood what she was doing. After my appointment, Matt helped me try on some new frames. I arrived so late to my appointment due to getting lost and taking the wrong exit in the freeway, I thought I was going to have to cancel but the staff was very accommodating.
