Had to update because we We LOVE Dr. Ariza and Elizabeth and the entire staff so much. We came here when our daughter was one after a horrific experience at CP & A in Capitol Hill. Best decision ever. We now have two kids in Dr. Ariza's care and have been with them for 2 years. The office is more of a boutique than a sad or scary doctor's office. Decorated perfect for kids and very inviting. We have never had to wait long and both the ladies at the front desk and the Nurse Kadera (so sorry if I misspelled her name!) are great. Kadera is friendly, gentle and was able to draw blood from my 2 year old with no issues! She's seriously the best. She calls the kids friends and that in itself is such a gift. Dr Ariza is literally an angel. Very supportive of me as a mom and my kids adore her - enough that we play "Dr Ariza" every day. EVERY.DAY. She is a dream come true pediatrician and we feel so lucky to have her. She's brilliant, kind, helpful and supportive. And obsessed with her cool shoes. We have had to utilize the after hour calls a few times and she personally immediately calls back. If you have kids look no further - this is the best office in DC. read more

Flagging this place comes up as vaccine friendly but I called and they have no flexibility on vaccine schedule they kick you out if you decline a certain vaccine. Thanks! read more

We chose west end peds for our son born in November. The office is convenient for us to get to and has a warm/inviting atmosphere. Scheduling and communication is always convenient/easy. The staff are nice and responsive. Elizabeth, the NP we see, is great--professional, caring, answers our questions, never makes us feel rushed. Dr. Ariza has privileges at Sibley, which is one of the reasons we chose the practice. She is great--came to see us while doing her rounds at the hospital and did our son's checkup. She seems really on top of everything and knowledgeable. read more

My daughter was not able to be seen at this pediatrician but I feel it's still important to share our experience. I'm happy we did not end up coming here. I called the office in my third trimester to confirm that they are accepting new patients and provided my insurance information to confirm they were in network. I was told yes. I also double checked my insurances "find a provider" search just to be sure and to confirm the doctor/office was listed - which they are. The day I gave birth, I called to make my newborn's first appointment and provided my insurance information once again. We chose this office specifically because of the great reviews and because of how colorful & child friendly the office appeared to be. We are from Alexandria and didn't mind commuting into DC. We were really excited to find this place and, of course, want only the best for our child. After driving 30+ minutes into DC with an unvaccinated, 4 day old newborn to see this pediatrician - upon check in were told they were not sure if our insurance was accepted and they would call to confirm. They called and we were turned away stating they do not accept our insurance. Despite the two times it was confirmed over the phone that they did (by two different people) and an appointment being scheduled. We were not offered an apology or any recognition of their mistake or this major inconvenience caused at no fault of our own. To make matters worse, my exchange with the doctor was disturbing and I'm still not sure what to make of it. But I'm happy we did not come here. For context: I was wearing a long, flowery maternity dress. My stomach is still bloated as I have JUST given birth. I have never met or spoken to this woman (the doctor). While I was standing at the counter talking to the receptionist, the doctor was in the doorway, looked over and asked me, and I quote, "What happened to you?" I dryly responded "Birth" - as I really didn't appreciate whatever she was insinuating about me or my body's current appearance. Then she responded, "Oh, well...you look great..." and walked away. I felt this was beyond inappropriate and quite frankly insulting. Oh and lastly, we paid $12.95 to park in the buildings lot (for the 15 minutes we were there). Overall, we are beyond frustrated and would not recommend based on our experience. read more

West End Pediatrics is a new office, opened in February but the staff here have been in business for some time. While the office space and practice name is fairly new, it's self-evident that Dr. Ariza knows her stuff as she's been in practice for over 20 years. She and nurse practitioner, Brooke Slater, have been very helpful and informative as my husband and I are first time parents. We are confident our twin babies are in good hands. Parking in the area and driving across town to get here sucks but it's worth it knowing my kiddos are going to a good place for their Pediatriction. I cannot say enough good things about this practice. Office staff have always been friendly and helpful, they answer the phone right away, and I have always been able to schedule convenient appointment times. The office is fun and kid-friendly, with stickers and books in the exam rooms to help keep little ones busy. We have never waited more than a few minutes for the doctor. Dr. Ariza is a true gem. She has a wonderful warm and respectful manner with children, and communicates clearly with me as a parent. She has always taken her time and never have I felt rushed. My previous practice had sent over records that were all out of order; Dr Ariza and the nurse carefully combed through everything and reorganized to ensure that my daughter had all the right vaccinations on time. The RNP and the nurses here are fabulous too!! Shots are always a struggle, but the nurse who administered them the last time was so calm and quick that my daughter truly barely noticed it was happening! The only challenge with this practice is that you need to leave extra time to find parking, but most days there is convenient street parking, or reasonable spot hero prices nearby. It is absolutely well worth it for the positive experience and high quality of care. This practice is the best!!! read more

Dr. Ariza has cared for our 4.5 year old and 1.5 year olds since birth. We have followed her to her new solo practice and are so grateful for her extensive knowledge and experience. She was especially helpful with nursing techniques after our baby started to prefer the bottle and will take the time to listen to all your concerns, without any judgment at all. She has returned our after-hour calls immediately, and we appreciate the weekday and new Saturday morning walk-in hours. She is the pediatrician who can convince your kids to take their medicine, always dresses up on Halloween with hilarious costumes, and has the amazing gift of drawing blood herself from the hardest to find veins in babies. She is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, kind - and most of all, absolutely wonderful with our kids. We think the world of Dr. Ariza. read more

My daughter is 6 months old. At the beggining I was so happy with Dr Ariza and her team, but as time has passed by I have been a little bit disappointed. I called at 9 am saying my daughter has fever and I need advise on what to do and didn't get an answer until 3 pm when I called back. All this time, me nervous on what to do with my baby. I do have to say they have an assistant called Brooke that is very nice and patient. Dr Ariza is amazing if she has time... if not, she comes very quickly. I am a first time mother and west end pediatrics is where my sister referred me too. The office is very far from where I live and but I liked the place and the staff so much that I decided to stick with the office despite the distance. This past week I came late to my appointment and Dr. Ariza was not able to see me which I was upset about because i travelled so far and had missed her appointment, which was understandable. However, when I arrived to the office and stood at the front desk, I was talking to the receptionist about my appointment and about an antibiotic that there was some confusion over. As I was standing there Dr. Ariza comes to the front acts like she is looking for something and as I am talking to the young lady at the front desk she makes a comment along the lines of "its been almost a month now, you still need that antibiotic" almost stating that I should just forget about the medication. Well i think if it was not important I would not ask for it and be trying to follow up about it. Her tone and demeanor was one that I would not be okay with anyone like that providing any type of service for me or my daughter. She did all of this while not even making any eye contact and pretending to look for what she was looking for and then walking off. It has been almost year of me trying to make appointments and missing them or having to reschedule because I live so far. I have to wake up at 6 am if i know I have a 10am appointment because I have to get my daughter ready and be prepared for traffic driving into D.C. While I appreciate the friendly staff in the office and my time with them. I did not appreciate Dr. Ariza and the distance along with her behavior that day made me realize that I would be better off finding a new closer office for my daughter and I. read more

Dr. Ariza has been my now 9 year old son's pediatrician since he was born and she met him at just a few hours old. She has been such a tremendous steady presence seeing us through the many bumps of childhood from easy fixes like stitches and RMV to managing behaviorial and academic issues. With a sense of humor and an ability to deal with each of us at our level, very happy with her care. Now, her advice to my son that he could only get a dog after walking with me twice a day for two months as a trial was a gift to me. When I was pregnant and looking for a pediatrician I was completely overwhelmed. I called a well-known practice in DC first, but was turned off by the automated system I had to go through just to speak to someone. When I called West End Pediatrics, I was immediately impressed with their friendliness and customer service. I was even more blown away to learn that Dr. Ariza visits newborns at the hospital I was delivering at. My daughter is now almost six months old and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ariza, Brooke Slater and the whole team at West End Peds. They are amazing. So knowledgeable, so warm and SO comforting - which is key for brand-new parents like me and my husband! Their ability to put you at ease with all of the challenges of navigating life with an infant is so wonderful. We fortunately haven't had to make too many after-hours calls, but when we have, we always get a quick response.
