Our family had good experiences with Dr Washington and feel that things haven't been quite as rosy with her gone from the practice so we'll be switching to another pediatrician. A few months ago we were about to travel out of town and my son had developed a rash. We were seen by a nurse, who didn't know what it was. She refused to take a picture for the doctor to see and diagnose it, and the doctor was unavailable to see him, so we had to see a doctor after we got to our destination in Colorado at great inconvenience and expense. At our latest well visits for my daughter and son (1 combined visit), we were informed that for the office to complete their required DOH health forms, which we had paid for previous years and which I filled out partially myself, would be a $50 charge. All for a few minutes to fill out forms. This was the final straw for us after giving them three years of business for both of our kids. So we will be going elsewhere. read more

Not sure why there are negative reviews for this practice. I can only speak on my personal experiences. Worry and concern are ever present as a first time mom during a pandemic. Dr. McCuiston is phenomenal, responsive and spends the time to address any concerns my husband and I may have. The administrative staff have always been professional and kind when we call and come in. There is a patient portal, responsive on call line (that I've used during non office hours), and video/photo messaging capabilities. COVID 19 safety protocol is also in order and enforced. It's great that when I leave an appointment I can rest assured that my son is healthy. Everything else is icing on the cake! read more

Normally I would not leave a 1 star review but after several bad experiences with the McKnight pediatrics, I decided it's time to let them and others know how despicable this place is. First off, service = disrespectful and disorganized. I've had this one staff member give me a stink eye and spit the words, "ma'am, you are not listening to me" after I asked her to clarify the next steps. Is it too hard to repeat things to your patients? Every time I go to their office, they drown me with a bunch of information verbally and it's easy to miss key information when you're also trying to attend to or calm your 3 year old down. Second, except for our very first visit, I have not seen THE Marjorie McKnight herself in 3 years. I mean, does she even practice? Third, I've noticed that there is a continuing trend of employee overturn. No one seems to stay at this place for more than 8 months. I'm desperate to find a new pediatrician at this point. It's truly disappointing that there's a lack of good clinics in the DC area. read more

I really like Dr McKnight. When she walks in the room, her focus is on my baby, which is where I want it. Its apparent she loves children, and she discusses issues and answers my questions in a way that respects my intelligence. Dr Washington I do not really click with; she appears awkward and humorless, and I don't know if it's me or she's generally not a people person. However sometimes when I call I get a busy signal. And the Med Center is a chaotic and depressing place. The buildings are not clearly marked. You have to sign in at the front desk, which I find annoying and unnecessary. Their office was (maybe still is?) listed incorrectly on the directory. The parking garage is often a nightmare to navigate, with long backups of cars and inconsiderate drivers parking diagonally across 2 spaces. read more

This is the 2nd time I bring my newborn son to see Dr. Mc Knight and I've been really happy with the service, from the receptionist at the front desk to the doctor's bedside manner. She's been giving us great advice on how to care for our newborn. I'm also happy that we were seen at the time of our appointment, without too much wait time. We will keep on seeing her. read more

The office manager helped sort through this issue. While I believe it should not have gotten to the point of needing the office manager to intervene, I appreciate her attention to the matter. The front desk staff never returned our calls after they took our number at least 6-7 times promising a phone call back. Just a very disappointing experience with the front desk staff. Staying with this practice for 4 years was one of the worst parenting decisions I've ever made. Dr. McKnight and her associates dismissed my concerns (which were found to be warranted by other doctors) and delayed getting my child help. This has permanently harmed him and hurt my mental health. read more

My son has been a patient of Dr. McKnight's practice since he was born in 2015, and my twin girls have been going since their birth in January 2018. While I was pleased with the practice with my son, we have had two incredible experiences with them since then that cemented my love for this practice and the staff. One of our twins had a serious medical condition that was difficult to diagnose. She was losing weight rapidly in her first week of life without a lot of obvious signs as to why. The doctors saw us almost daily that first week to monitor the situation and sent us to the ER when things weren't improving. At the ER, they discovered an issue that required emergency surgery on our 9 day old baby. The surgeon and anesthesiologist told us that we shouldn't let our pediatrician go -- that most doctors would not have recognized the signs of this emergency situation. Since then, we've been to the office several times for both babies and have continued to have wonderful experiences. We were there recently when the building was on lockdown and had to be evacuated -- a terrifying experience for any parent! -- but the staff were so incredibly helpful and kind to my family during the entire ordeal. We are so grateful for Dr. McKnight, Dr. Cohen, and all the nurses and staff. read more

Rude and unaccommodating front desk staff. Tried to make a sick appointment and was told they could not book until I paid a balance- less then 3 weeks old. Another time was denied a same day appointment- called as soon as they opened- and told they were overbooked and to go to urgent care. Final straw was them being unwilling to mail a medical form- which they also were unwilling to fill out the same day. They require a self- addressed stamped envelope. Never even met Dr. McKnight. Was always booked with someone else. Thankfully are insurance switched and we can go back to the wonderful Dr. Ahlstrom at Chevy Chase Pediatrics. read more

Been taking my two kids here for the last 8 years since they were born, but the practice has started to nickel and dime their patients. They have expanded, added lots of new doctors, and now have two suites on the same floor, which seems to have made them greedy. I had a few visits last year which they charged me a co-payment that per my insurance was not necessary. Then they raised their school DOH form to $25 this year. They fill out two lines and attach a vaccine print out for $50! Today, I was late for my kids appointment, and they could only see one kid. Ok, that's fine, but they still charged me a missed appointment fee of $25. Enough is enough. I will be looking for another practice. read more

Dr. McKnight and Dr. Washington are just wonderful. We have been taking our son to them since he was 2 days old. (We even met with Dr. McKnight before he was born.) Virginia, the office manager, does a great job of making sure they have all of your insurance information and that the file is up to date. Once you arrive, they immediately send you to an exam room. We have never waited in the waiting room, nor have we seen others waiting there. (We usually just pass each other going to and from exam rooms.) The nurses are nice and they do all of the weighing, measuring, shots, etc. And, they log everything in the computer for the doctor. Once Dr. McKnight or Dr. Washington come in, they do a full examination and also ask lots of questions. Additionally, they encourage questions from us and take the time to answer them fully. They also don't make you feel that a questions is stupid. For a first-time parent, this is great! Finally, when you leave, you get a print-out of everything that was discussed, the next steps, and all the current information about your child. This is great because you don't have to try to remember what they said because you know it will all be written down for you. I would definitely recommend them. read more

My son has been going to Dr. McKnight since 2012 only due to Dr. Fisseha Tekle Wold passing in 2011. I still miss her no other doctor can replace her. Back to my review; I made a appointment for my sons wheezing he has asthma and needed a refill. My apportionment was at 7:45am December 1, 2017. I called at 7:20am informing the staff I maybe 5 minutes late due to traffic. I was told there is no grace period and I would need to reschedule. That Dr. McKnight had a flight to catch at 9AM. I informed the staff I would still come because I may make the appointment. I got to the office at 7:50am. I was told to sign in and fill out paperwork and they will see if she will see him. "She was supposed to be leaving at 8am to catch her flight." I'm at the front desk still conversing with the front desk about insurance and updating my address it was 8:15am. At that time a woman had come in with her newborn baby; stated she was running two hours late for Dr. McKnight!!! And who comes to the front desk with a mad look and demanding the newborn babies chart no other than Dr. McKnight!!! They take the baby back to see her but me and my son has been here since 7:50AM waiting to see if she would see him. At 8:20am I was informed she would not see him and has left the building and that I could wait to see if the other doctor Dr. Washington could see him instead. At 9:30am they take him back to get his vitals and take us to a room. At 10:15am I am informed that Dr. Washington's next opening isn't until 12PM!!! I said ok, I'll take him to the ER and find a new doctor. Upon me leaving at 10:15am who do I see no other than Dr. McKnight!!!! What happened to her leaving at 8am to catch her 9am flight??!!! The time that me and my child where in the waiting room she could have seen him and prescribed an inhaler and we could have been on our way!!! I found a better doctor and I advise anyone to stay away they don't have your child's best interest in mind. Not to mention they tried to charge me a $25 no show fee. read more

Dr. McKnights and her practice are excellent. My toddler and infant are patients. I find Dr McKnight to be extraordinarily knowledgeable, never rushing like most doctors, never condescending to the dumb questions new parents ask. She makes babies so zen, I think she's a little magical. The staff are excellent, efficient and friendly. This place runs like a tried and tested machine. Also - when we've called in the middle of the night, a real nurse talked to us about our concern. read more

My 10 year old daughter had a broken toe and we had to be sent downstairs for X-rays. While awaiting the results in the radiologist office downstairs the office manager couldn't get me on my cell phone so she ran downstairs to catch me to let me know she had made an emergency appointment with the Orthopedist upstairs. I have been taking my son to Dr. McKnight since he was a newborn. I absolutely love her! They are always prompt which is so hard to find. She is so good with my son and she shows good judgement and I am always confident that her advice is good. I'm glad I tried her despite some reviews I had read saying she lacked bedside manner. I think she is extemely attentive to my son and his needs and I love that. Dr. Washington is pretty cool too but I prefer McKnight. I just think McKnight is more personable and she interacts better with my son who is 1 yr old now. read more

Dr. Mcknight. & Dr. Washington have been my daughters pediatricians since she was born. Mcknight is a great Doc. Dr. Washington is good too. She is very clinical but good. Unfortunately, over the last year we have had really bad experiences with her office. Earlier this year, my daughter was sick with a very high temperature. I called her office at 8:00 am to tell them we need to be seen immediately. At that point, E was running a temperature of 102. The woman at the desk said they could squeeze me in at 10:30. I told her fine, but we needed to be seen ASAP so we were coming straight there and would wait. I got to their office at 8:30 and literally sat in an empty waiting room with E crying, coughing and very sick for 2 and a half hours. They were seeing people with appts only according to the staff as they were casually laughing and doing NOTHING. At this point I was in tears. Afraid to leave, because what if something happened. My thought was that at least we were at a doctors office. One staff was kind enough to tell me that if it is an emergency, I should know to go to the Emergency room. It was outrageous. E was eventually seen. By then, her temperature was 104. We left that day with her medical records swearing we would never go back. After I cooled off, I decided since Dr. McKnight & Washington have been seeing E since she was born, we would give them another chance. Well, fast forward to today. My daughter starts school next week and we need to have her shots and check up before next Wednesday. I called weeks ago, but today was the first available. E's dad left the School medical forms that the doctor needs to fill out at home. No big deal, I emailed then to him and assumed he could have the office print the forms out. NOPE. The staff refused to print 2 pieces of paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead, they want us to mail them the papers, include a SASE and a check for $15. They will then mail us back the forms in 10-14 days. I almost fell out of my chair at work. WE will never go there AGAIN. This may be a staff issue. Whatever it is, it is an issue that needs to be resolved. read more

I logged into yelp to write a review for McKnight Pediatrics and was really sad to see one star reviews. I've had nothing but very good experience with them since my daughter was 4 days old. I've very high standards for everything and everyone, including my daughter's doctors. I initially started seeing Dr. McKnight when my daughter was born in 2016 and then Dr. Washington. Both are great and was happy with their diagnosis and patience. Lately I've been seeing Laura Eleazer, the new nurse practitioner, and she's just amazing. Like truly amazing. She has been spot on with my daughter's Asthma diagnosis and has been so caring and loving. She gives my daughter her undivided attention and really takes the time to understand and get to the root cause of the issue. For example, this one time she caught the ER doctor's wrong diagnosis.I was going to put my daughter through some horrible intense oral medication but she (not us) followed up on our ER visit and made sure my daughter was taken care and in good place. I've not seen this kind of service in a very long time. I also found the front desk staff very nice, empathetic and personable,...definitely makes my visits more stress free!!! read more

We have been patients of Dr. Mcknight and Dr Washington for the last 12 months. We switched from Dr. ARiza and we are so pleased with the move. Both doctors are excellent and very nurturing with children. My kids do not mind going to see the doctor anymore. I highly recommend both. read more

I wish I could give 2 and a half stars for a few reasons. The Administrative Staff is great, as well as the RN's, if you have been there for a while they really treat you like family and remember info about you. Dr. McKnight and the NP are a different story. I've been going to Dr. McKnight's office since I was born. I had no issues with anyone until I went to college. I normally saw Dr. Washington when she worked there and she was very thorough with me. I felt as though sometimes I got the short end of the stick if Dr. McKnight saw me. Ever since they hired the current Nurse Practitioner, I have had so many issues with her. Her attitude is despicable and she thinks she runs the office. Since she has been in the office, she has made it very difficult to get the medicine I need and made some very unrealistic suggestions in regards of my obtaining it (I'm very aware of the regulations in regards to certain medications ie. Controlled substances, etc.) I NEVER had these problems when Dr. Washington would see me or even Dr. McKnight for that matter. And it seems clear that the other nurses and admin don't like her either. Because of her distrust in my word and her disrespectful attitude as well as my family not feeling as though I'm getting the care I need I will finally be transferring. Maybe this was a sign to move on. read more

Dr. McKnight has been my son's pediatrician for the past two and a half years. I can't say enough positive things about her. She has THE fastest waiting room times I have ever experienced from any doctor. We are always taken back into a treatment room as soon as we arrive in the office and the doctor comes in literally five minutes later. She is constantly staying on top of changing trends in the pediatric world and she only uses medications when absolutely necessary. Her associate, Dr Washington, is also extremely good.
