This was awful! I ordered the Bronze Coast Hash, the eggs weren't cooked all the way, the has browns were so soft that you thought they flashed them in the pan for 2 seconds and served them. I was looking for food at 6am in alameda and I did not want Dennys. Yelp showed me wescafe. I was like hmmm why not check it out. It's a very cosy breakfast lunch place. Very neat and clean. Prices are okay as well. I have tried the eggplant sandwich and I must say if you reading this and have not tried it. Plizzzz do. It's so yummy. I paired it up with a Caesar salad. ( they don't offer combo prices ). Paid like $16 for this. Also got a chicken sandwich (not a fan) coz the eggplant sandwich was way too good. Do recommend this place. read more

I got the everything bagel with salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber. It was DECENT. I could make it at home. The bagel was very simple. Servers are kind of rude as they try to take away your plate when its more than half full. Not the best place! read more

My husband and I both really enjoyed our breakfast here today! I ordered the Belgian waffle, he ordered the breakfast burrito with ham & we got the banana beignets because we just couldn't help ourselves! In retrospect the beignets were too sugary and way too big to have as an addition to breakfast, although they were delicious! I loved my Belgian waffle, especially with the fresh fruit on top! I also enjoyed the bite (okay maybe three bites) I had of my husbands burrito! We will go back just for the food! The service wasn't the best, though. My husband got his burrito, then 10 minutes later I got my waffle then an additional 10 minutes later we got our beignets. We usually like to have all our food at once so that was a bummer. That atmosphere is a bit noisy, as expected. But still all around a good experience! read more

It's a cute and quaint cafe, it wasn't very busy when i visited but it wasn't completely empty either. I couldn't decide which soup to get, so the cashier gave my cousin and I soup samples, I thought that was very kind of her. I ended up ordering the lentil soup and a hot chai latte. My cousin had the cream of asparagus which was also tasty, when I tried it. The lentil soup was delicious and hearty and had a little bit of a spice/kick to it and was served with 4 slices of bread. It was very bare bones. I would not recommend the chai latte, the flavor was very weak, there wasn't a spice to it as the cashier had stated and it was cold. Based on my recent experience, I don't know if I would return, I was not impressed with the overall vibe. read more

I can't believe I have not written a review for this place.... This place is really as good as it gets. I've been here countless times, breakfast, lunch, and when they use to serve dinner. Their breakfast burritos are to die for... My favorite is bacon. For lunch, the or soups are fabulous, the steak sandwich is one of my favorites. I often get the combo soup and half a sandwich. They will make pretty much anything for you. When they use to serve dinner, their rib eye steak was the outstanding. The best part is they accept the Localize It Card, and I get half off my second beer every time. Plus they have pretty awesome beers on tap. read more

I like the feel of this place and their backyard seating is very nice. I was not very impressed by the food though. My waffle was definitely from a box mix and was very dry with a sandy consistancy inside. We always come here for breakfast when in alameda. Great breakfast croissants and several other great items to pick from however tonight we are having sandwiches!!!! They did not disappoint!!! We had chicken and tuna both were excellent sandwiches !! They were closing in 15 min and we never felt rushed and another couple came in after closing and they took care of them and made them feel like a guest in their own home. Great ambience I love the Paris cafe vibe and this has it. Music playing in the background and the Warriors game was on earlier very calm. Love love it here would recommend to all ! read more

This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast in Alameda! I like to get the vegetarian burrito with soyrizo and veggies and a chai latte with Almond milk. When I ate dairy their feta and spinach croissant was my go to item-so good! This place is extra special because there are so many different places to sit. My favorite spot is in the back garden by the water fountain. The service here has always been great and orders come out fairly quickly. We stumbled in here while waiting for another store to open up across the street. The restaurant is very cute and clean. The people are very nice and we were taken care right away. My husband had the spicy sausage sandwich. I tried a bite and it was soooo good! I instantly wished I had also ordered it. I ordered the spinach and feta spanakopita special. It came with a side green salad. It was good, but it was no spicy sausage sandwich. Over all, everything looked fresh and home made which I love. I've been coming to Wescafe since moving to the west end several years ago and I love the food, the patio, and the general ambiance. It's a great place to get a bite with friends, work on your laptop, or get some reading done. You really can't beat the outdoor space and I love the new biergarten tables they've added to the back. It's definitely my favorite neighborhood place to chill with a coffee and snack on a nice day. The service is really hit or miss, though. Everyone is really nice but they regularly forget and mess up orders, and there are odd delays in getting food to your table. I've been there several times where a toasted bagel took over 20 minutes to get to me (it was not crazy-busy, btw). I've had to go back tot he counter more than a few times to check to see if my food was still coming, and I'd say 50% of the time I can tell they lost the order. If you want to be nit picky, one of my big gripes is that "The Works" bagel (bagel cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, capers) costs $6.75, whereas a bagel with cream cheese is only $2.25. Wha? Their sign says add-ons for sandwiches are $0.50 each, so technically it's cheaper to get a bagel with cream cheese and just get an "add on" for everything else and save yourself $2.50. The math is definitely off on that menu item. They recently reduced their hours which is a bummer. I really wish there was a cafe or coffeshop on Webster that would stay open past 7. I'd love to walk down and have a coffee or a milkshake after dinner, but I guess that's what you give up when you leave the city. I can still hope that they'll have a change of heart and stay open later, even if it's just one day a week. read more

Must visit for the best hash scramble in Alameda! My boyfriend and I bike here from Bay Farm usually on the weekends and enjoy their large patio. They have healthy options for breakfast (green smoothies, basic protein breakfasts) and some more indulgent (Benedicts, huevos rancheros etc), so there's many options for every diet. I came to eat here for lunch yesterday, and I got toast which was brown and it was burnt, and the white toast was stale, with the end pieces of the bread. The food looked like it took a minute to cook, and it showed no love of it being made. The Eggs seemed to be just thrown into a pan with everything else and just thrown onto a place. I will not be returning to this Cafe, due to the poor service and the food was poor as well. I was excited to come here, until I saw my plate and I barely ate it. If you come here beware of the food and how it is cooked and how they give stale pieces of bread. They look like they are tired of working. read more

I did not try the food, so I can't say if it's any good or not. I tried my favorite cafe drink, a matcha latte, and it was the worst matcha latte I've ever had anywhere. I had to throw it away after just a few sips. My husband's hot chocolate was awful, it was as if they put a packet of Swiss Miss in some warmish water. My friend's coffee was not worth ever trying again. This kind of experience puts me off trying any of the food, but I don't know, maybe the food is just fine. The service was good, the staff was friendly, but I also didn't like having to stand in a line that stretched straight back into the tables and chairs where people are trying to sit and enjoy their food/drink. It's not comfortable for anyone. The line should have been formed down the counter, but it was vague and no one was doing that. I'm sad my experience wasn't better because it's important for me to support local business, especially local west end Alameda business because that's my neighborhood and I want local business here to be good and successful. But if a place can't get these simple drinks right, well, I don't have a lot of faith in the other stuff. read more

The potatoes had a strange after taste that was not pleasant nor something I notice when I have breakfast potatoes elsewhere. I also had an Almond milk latte. Their coffee tastes burnt.
