It jammed the USB A, remote plug for my wireless mouse, into the front of the hard drive. After I picked it up the drive and tried to plug it into my computer, the drive would not mount. I thought all was lost, so I sent it over to Desert Data Recovery. I got a call the next day from a very nice woman, Kaylynn Ehlers. She explained that they would get to it after the weekend. They got back to me on Monday and explained the situation. They had taken the drive apart, and ran some tests, and said that although they could get the drive to Mount once they removed it from the case, they could not guarantee the integrity of the data. Kaylynn explained they could run a data recovery on the drive and quoted me a very reasonable price, but I opted to take the drive and try to recover the data myself since the drive could mount. I was actually successful and VERY LUCKY all data was recoverable. I really want to thank Kaylynn Ehlers over at Desert Data Recovery for her honesty and for helping me with the situation without a cost. I really trust these guys as they were honest with me and also quoted me a reasonable data recovery price. If I ever am in a situation again, where I need data recovery, I will not hesitate to give these people my business. They charge nothing upfront for an estimate with some analysis. A lot of companies do charge an up-front fee. Additionally, you don't have to send out your drive. You can drop it off locally, either in Mesa, Arizona or in Peoria. Nicky, one of the co-owners, explained what they could do and how the whole process would work. I never wondered about it because it was so clear what they could/would and could/would not do. The price is not cheap but it's reasonable considering what DDR is doing for you, In my case, in was bringing back 20 years of photos. (By the way, I learned to back up everything - redundancy!) I recommend this service without hesitation. They are transparent and customer-focused. If you have this happen, don't try to fix it yourself because that makes it harder for DDR to recover your stuff. Just take it in and explain what happened. They are not judgmental at all. I could see some of the laptops "guts" through the gap. Wires, etc. for most of the computers components are "routed" thru the bezel. Apparently this is not an uncommon problem for laptops. John the technician initially indicated the repair might take a couple of weeks since the part is not a common one for an older model. Long story short, the part flew right over, John jumped right on it, and the laptop was ship shape in just 4 days. I commend John for his technical expertise, communication, and hustle. I offered to meet him halfway as his location was around 20 minutes away and he was very grateful. I am not one to typically leave reviews, however Sean was so kind, well meaning, respectful, and gave me live updates about how the repair was going. This was the best customer service experience I have ever received in tech. The apple store quoted me at $1300 and sean completely repaired my water damaged 2017 macbook pro and was able to recover all of my data for just $400. My computer was under reasonable use conditions and slightly dirty when I gave it to him. He returned it back in sparkling condition having cleaned thoroughly the interior and exterior. He even cleaned my dusty fans even though they had nothing to do with the repair. Above and beyond service. 5 stars

The document they send you looks like a legit bill, but nowhere on it does it say "Invoice" and they want $70 for a "website backup service plan" and cleverly lists your domain's URL. I pay all bills for my company and was confused to receive this, a company we have NEVER done business with. I double checked with our IT consultant to see if he had changed something with our website and he said no. I tried calling the customer support line on here and they say there is a "30 minute hold time" and ask you to leave a message in their general mail box. Don't waste your time calling, just ignore the document and don't pay this! Again, DO NOT PAY. FRAUDULENT. P.S.: YELP keeps deleting my picture of the false invoice, and apparently is deleting other user's reviews warning others about this malicious company.
