SUPER HONEST!!! I had a Seagate 8 TB hard drive hub that was running, fall off my table headfirst onto the floor, and landed on the front connectors of my hard drive. It jammed the USB A, remote plug for my wireless mouse, into the front of the hard drive. After I picked it up the drive and tried to plug it into my computer, the drive would not mount. I thought all was lost, so I sent it over to Desert Data Recovery. I got a call the next day from a very nice woman, Kaylynn Ehlers. She explained that they would get to it after the weekend. They got back to me on Monday and explained the situation. They had taken the drive apart, and ran some tests, and said that although they could get the drive to Mount once they removed it from the case, they could not guarantee the integrity of the data. Kaylynn explained they could run a data recovery on the drive and quoted me a very reasonable price, but I opted to take the drive and try to recover the data myself since the drive could mount. I was actually successful and VERY LUCKY all data was recoverable. I dropped my external hard drive - dumb and careless. It wouldn't work so I took it to Desert Data Recovery and they saved me. I had photos on there for the last 20 years and was so worried. It seems in todays world finding exceptional customer service can be a bit tough, not with Desert Data Recovery. I took a 10 year old WD drive in to see if my data could be recovered. I lost all my childrens first pictures on a damaged external. I have 6 kids and when my oldest daughter dropped my external off my desk twice, I died. It held thousands of their very first images and births. It held my childhood images, I had scanned in to keep safe. Had a failed hard drive and after a week of searching and talking to different data recovery places, I decided to go with these guys. For 3 reasons: 1) Their customer service and communication right off the bat was excellent. They were quick on communication and so easy to deal with. 2) They charged nothing for assessing the problem, giving a diagnosis and giving a price for possible repairs. Many other places would've charged me just to take a close look at the problem. And 3) They do all their recovery work in-house. Nicky Homer did a fantastic job of recovering irreplaceable data and photos. My daughter-in-law came back from Ukraine a couple of years ago with a flash drive with about 32gb of family photos and important documents. It was impossible to even read or open the drive. After Thanksgiving, through a combination of rash haste and sheer idiocy on my part, I had torn off and thrown away the circuit board of a hard drive that wasn't working and had very precious memories. I wrongly assumed that any tech specialist could get the data out without the circuit board, but when I first visited DDR, Nicky and Tim told me that this particular hard drive from Seagate needed the board in order to obtain the data, specifically only one chip on that board. Distraught with despair that my rather exceptional brain fart might have destroyed the only copy of those pictures I had, I rushed back home to the unfathomable luck of finding that the bag I'd thrown away the circuit board in was still in the dumpster. Still, I wasn't certain the chip was undamaged. Yet after I'd taken back all the components of the circuit board, the next day Nicky emailed me to let me know that they had connected the chip to a new board and it was working fine. The only problem now was the drive itself. I was already told beforehand that if they couldn't fix the drive or find the files that I was looking for there wouldn't be any charge. This made me feel that they care much more about their craft rather than making a quick buck. They were able to diagnose the drive had a logical problem rather than a mechanical one, and once they obtained the data from the drive they emailed me that it's ready and Nicky even found one of the files I had told her about and sent me a picture to confirm that what I was specifically looking for was on that drive. I was able to breathe easy again. From beginning to end the whole process took only two days, surprising for the busy holiday season. They put all the information from the drive on a brand new external hard drive and charged me a very reasonable price I was pleased with. Throughout the process, I was impressed with the combination of professionalism and kindness that Nicky and Tim showed, as well as how efficiently everything got done. This was a high-quality result that surpassed my expectations. Tim and Nicky Homer are, in my estimation, wizards. They are, two rare pearls in a sea of computer servicers that is filled with toxic time wasters, predatory technicians, and a nothing resembling biological life save the most basic single-celled organisms. My drive failed to read and my backup hadn't been syncing for months, something I only noticed after failing to retrieve my documents. I nearly vomited. After spending that Saturday evening in tears, cold sweats and contemplating the quickest way to exit this mortal coil, I called Best Buy. Their Geek Squad said it would be, if possible at all, expensive (thousands), not local (sent to Tennessee) and lengthy (two weeks minimum). None of this would work for me. I then searched for local providers and on the first page hit the lovely business that is Desert Data Recovery. I called at about 1030 on a Sat night expecting a response maybe on Sunday, but likely on Monday. Within 30 minutes, Nicky had texted me back and I went to bed knowing that they work Sundays and would be at their office. They only asked that I confirm the time. At 10 AM on Sunday, I met these two lovely people. They took time with me to explain the likely problems, the basics of drive functioning and presented me with a general sense that these people know exactly what they are doing. I left my drive with them around 1030, breathed easy on the drive home because of how lovely and confident and expert these people are and, within two hours, Nicky had emailed me with a detailed diagnosis, in-depth course of action and price - which came with a "no data no fee" guaranteed. If they could find and retrieve the data, $395. If not, nothing. I think this is something you simply will not find at the big box stores. She told me they'd email me the next day with either a finished product or an update if they needed more time. My Sunday was turned from blackness and muck into light and life and my vital work was on its way back to me. I breathed easier than I had in the last 18 hours. The next day, Monday, I called to check in on the process and things still looked good, but being honest brokers, Nicky said they could see that there would be some bad sectors and they would be irretrievable. I really didn't worry as much as I could have as these people seem so incredibly capable. I left myself in their hands. As of this writing, it is 344 in the afternoon on the next day, Tuesday, and I just received about an hour ago an email from Nicky with all the available files and a short list of bad ones. I opened the secure link she sent me and I was nearly in tears that it seems more than 99.999 percent of my files have now returned. They are a mix of essential business and deeply important personal files along with a novel draft. DDR has just performed the perfect impression of a deity. They are now loading my data onto a backup drive, and will also hold onto the data in a dedicated Dropbox folder in case on the way home I crash and the only thing damaged is the updated drive. Tim and Nicky think of everything. There is a reason DDR has laudatory reviews. They are a local business owned by personable experts that provides exceptionally detailed, rapid service -- this treble perfection can never be equalled by corporate behemoths. AND they guarantee their work to a degree that a big company would never do - with a 'no data no fee' offer. I'm happily stunned and will never, really, NEVER, go to anyone else for data tech service no matter whether I stay in Phoenix or move to the island of Guernsey. Called Desert Data after reviewing them on the yelp community. I had a failing hard drive and needed to have someone look at it. There are plenty of options out there but when you have personal data that you don't want to lose, you better make the right choice. After speaking with Tim I drove to their location and dropped off my drive. Within 24 hours they got back to me and offered options, never pushy and although this is a costly endeavor they don't force you to pay a fee for the initial consult. I decided my hard drive was going to be too pricey to replace and they handed it back to me and even advised to store it somewhere in case I change my mind.
