a bowl of soup, a plate of fried chicken, and a bowl of rice

You can never go wrong at a classic Taiwanese bbtea cafe! I haven't been back to Well Tea for ages and it's so nice to see some familiar favourite menu items like the Seafood Milk Hotpot and Chicken Nuggets! They taste just as good as I remembered! The Satay Shredded Pork Fried Noodle was a new one for me and I'd prefer a little more meat to the dish and the noodle did seemed more like instant noodles so I think I would skip that dish next time. Overall it was a tasty remincing meal!

Was recommended by a friend who comes here often to eat. Came in and noticed a refreshing spa like smell when coming in the door (I wonder if it was someone's perfume), but it was refreshing. The decor of the place is great, as it has a zen like feel, from the elevated floor, to the glass panels with the strips of green bambo with a backing of white rocks to emphasize the green. It's a very comfortable place for a place that serves bubble tea, but also serves some pretty good food. Located in the plaza on Alexandra and Hazelbridge, this place doesn't look like much on the outside, but when you enter the place, it's a whole different story. The first of the chains 3 restaurants so far, I have heard about this place, but never came to eat here till now. I was pleasantly surprised at the food. The seating area is very spacious, and not crammed, like some other restaurants. The table even has an electronic buzzer like button if you need to call over the server, or just want the bill. I ordered the spicy beef hotpot, and it came quite quickly, probably because I kept talking to my friend, and didn't notice the time of day. A little presentable pot, topped off with raw spinach, and served with a side of satay sauce (for dipping) and white rice. I must say this was real good, for about $10 and your done, this meal filled me up, as they had enough vegetables, beef, and spice (as I was sweating). I hope to come back again to write a follow-up review, but with this first experience, I'm coming back.

One word: average The thick toast here ain't that great. Very average. The wheat germ milk tea here ain't too shabby. Service is rather slow. No water was offered during our entire visit even though there's nobody else here. And they literally only have 3 napkins to us for 4 individuals. Note: free wifi here, but no pokestops

This place is very good for large groups. The food is only so-so in my opinion but they sure do Bubble Tea very good! My Ferrero Roche bubble tea tasted exactly like the Candy! I can't wait to come back and try the other candy flavours like Kit Kat. Not sure if I would come for the food. But the Bubble Tea, certainly yes I would!

If you're looking for a late night quick bite, this is the place to go. This place is super casual and has almost all the late night craving snacks that you need! I found that they give relatively big portions of food for the amount you're paying for which isn't that much to be honest. And if you're a chicken gizzards and pig ears lover like myself, this place is an absolutely must!! Everything was marinated very well and tasted great. Definitely would come back when I'm in the area at night and just want a good, chill quick bite.

Shaved ice with chocolate syrup, egg pudding, and grass jelly. Perfect for sharing

Hooray for late night Asian spots with free wifi, free parking, and diverse menus! I've been here a number of times now and it's a great spot to chill and converse with friends and family. My cousins and I got there at 9pm on a Friday night and there were plenty of tables free. We found parking right away too. I was craving shaved ice so I got one of those with chocolate syrup, grass jelly, and egg pudding. Yum yum yum. My cousins opted for hot bubble teas, which were comforting.

I got 東坡肉. It was good in the beginning but got a bit salty towards the end. It had nice combination of layers: skin, fat, lean meat. The texture was very nice. The sauce was good too, albeit a bit on the salty side. The price was reasonable and the place was clean and spacious. I would come back again if this place is closer to where I live.

Milk seafood hot pot

I come here a lot just for their iron Buddha milk tea! It used to be the only game in town for specialty milk teas as most places just had oolong and regular black tea milk teas. Now that a lot more places have opened up with lots of tea options I come a lot less often. But when I'm with a large group I come here because they have great food options and space for large groups! Other than their bubble teas I really enjoy their hot pot options! Their milk seafood hot pot is really nice and their spicy beef hot pot is another good one! Service does lack just a little and they seem to run out of stuff (like pearls and even my go to drink option iron Buddha tea this one time) a lot which is a pain and just in general long time to get things we ask for. Not that it's a deal breaker but hence the lower stars. I really come here mostly for nostaglia sake. If it's great bubble tea I crave there are better places.

Chicken skin

Wow how do you mess up deep fried foods and simple Taiwanese food? So I came here for their box toast and left... with no box toast in my tummy. Very sad. In all fairness the server did say it would take 20-25minutes, but I waited 45 and still no toast so I had to leave, no biggie but the other food ticked me off. Had the deep fried chicken skin and the sweet and sour pork combo that came with three SMALL dishes, which were smaller than Korean SMALL dishes by the way. Chicken skin was severly burnt from over-frying and it was so salty, beyond belief. It's pretty hard to mess up deep frying chicken skin ok? The sweet and sour pork was probably the worst I've ever had, even worse than the sweet and sour pork I tried in texas.. can you imagine? The pork was boiled and thrown into a presumably canned or bottled sauce. Ew. Anyways so we waited for the toast and waited, gulping down water and tea to counter the salt overload. And we waited again and asked at the 30 minute point and the girl said, it'll be around 10 minutes. So we wait. And 15 minutes later... um where's my toast I have to go. And she runs and check and comes back with a toast that is... not for my table... great. I'm a bit reluctant though to not have eaten the toast because I saw the "cook" bring out an unprepared toast, cut it in the middle of the dining room with his bare hands and a knife and throw it on a possibly unsanitized table. Yum.

Food for two people. Definitely got stares

Nice quiet Taiwanese eatery in Richmond. We went overboard and ordered 4 main courses and 2 snacks for 2 people. Check photo for reference. -Honey Black Tea with pearl -Ma Po Tofu -Sliced Pork -Fatty Pork -Turnip Cake -Fish balls All decent. I definitely noticed the waitresses look of astonishment and we definitely got some stares from the other tables. I would definitely recommend it if you are craving Taiwanese food BUT the only major complaint I had was that the drinks were too sweet and it was pretty obvious that it was not naturally flavored! BTW if you are looking for a sophisticated environment please avoid this place!

Ah yes, the best chicken nuggets out there! Not a big fan of their soup entrees, would definitely prefer to have Pho BUT their rice meals though. Huge bowl of Chicken Nuggets - I just can't get enough of it. My boyfriend and I always come back for the nuggets. Very tender, juicy and crunchy on the outside. Try pairing your meal with the Ice Age drink - better than bubble tea, guys!

The interior is big, clean and modern decor. Menu is big with delicious options and reasonable prices. Food also came out quickly! My only feedback would be is if they had some photos on their menu to be more clear as to what the dishes are and how they are prepared.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

We stopped by at lunchtime at first, but they weren't open yet. Since we really wanted to try it, we called again in the evening to confirm their hours before heading back--and we're so glad we did. The service was excellent from start to finish. They were incredibly patient and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food did not disappoint. All the Taiwanese snacks we tried were delicious and full of authentic flavors. Our absolute favorite was the shaved ice--it was refreshing, perfectly textured, and just amazing! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine Taiwanese food and warm, attentive service. At first glance, the prices are average for this type of food. However, once I saw the humongous portions, I believe this vendor should clearly be categorized as cheap eats. For example, for roughly $10, you get three large pork chops (fried or marinated, I slightly preferred the fried more), sautéed cauliflower in XO sauce, soy braised tofu skin (so good I paid for extra $5 portion), crunchy pickles, stewed fish tofu, marinated egg, and a whole separate box of white rice. This is easily $15-20 in NYC. Same price for the crispy, tender, and juicy Chicken Nuggets (aka Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken) with all the trimmings. The quality of every item in the box was top notch and all very delicious. What many customers ordered that interests me for the next visit was the Salt & Pepper Chicken (椒麻鸡), which was basically a huge piece of pounded chicken thigh, battered like the popcorn chicken, with a mala sauce on top. This is a gem for the people who live locally in the area. Such bang for the buck!
