I've shopped at this Wegmans numerous times, both in person and via Instacart. Generally speaking, the produce here is fresh, reasonably priced, and the overall experience is unproblematic. I am part Russian and occasionally crave pierogi (vareniki); Wegmans is one of very few stores that sell fresh refrigerated pierogi (these are much better than the frozen ones). The last few times I instacarted these, I put them in my fridge and a few days later, after opening, I noticed they were moldy. One time I even put them directly in the freezer, and when I opened them they were moldy. I kind of gaslit myself and figured it was my fault for waiting too long to cook them. Well, yesterday I went to Wegmans in person and saw stocked moldy pierogis!! I mean several of the packages had visible mold. I cannot believe Wegmans is selling these, and clearly this is an ongoing issue for months. This really makes me question buying fresh food from Wegmans, given this wasn't a one off. Hopefully this is just limited to the pierogis, which is a specialty product that I assume doesn't have high turnover. Nonetheless buyer beware!! Wegmans, please fix! read more

This location is very spacious and offers a wide range of items, including pre-cooked meals, flowers, fresh baked goods, hot bar, and produce. While some items, especially the ready-to-cook meals, are on the pricier side, you can still find great deals with their private-label products. I really enjoyed the alcohol selection. They carry everything from casual everyday wines to reasonably priced bottles that are actually quite good. The section is well organized, which makes it easy to browse. They also have hard liquor and beer, so most people will be able to find what they are looking for. Another big plus is the number of self-checkout stations, so I did not have to wait in line. The parking lot can be a bit confusing and chaotic depending on the time of day, so keep that in mind. Do not forget to get your parking validated before leaving the store. read more

This is quite the Wegmans. The prepared foods area is much larger than what I'm used to. Produce section is quite large with plenty of options. Folks working there engage with customers and ask if you need anything. Very well organized and nice layout. They sell actual booze, like vodka, tequila. Not in VA, lol. Only problem, if you misplaced your parking pass, which is free for first 2 hours, then you gotta pay. I could not find my ticket to validate, so I had to pay. Sucks. In VA, you can park all day. I used to go to Wegmans after work, get a meal and study for hours. Not here. Gotta pay to park. I think they ought to revise the parking situation. read more

Just one example, I realized I had not validated my parking ticket and when I abruptly turned around in the lot I said to an employee -- forgot to validate. What a disappointment. Shopped on Friday, mid morning. Old wilted greens, prices are higher than at Whole Foods. Staff only knows their section, not the whole floor. ( I didn't see the price for ciclamen pots that were in large numbers in the middle of the veggies section. Ask a lady who was stuffing a shelf near it, she had no clue, said I need to go to the fliers section and find a lady who works there and she would tell me the price. Seriously? I honestly don't know how Wegmans can be less than a 5 star review. This grocery store is so fantastic on many levels. The food here is so delicious with it's many food stations, especially the Chinese food bar. My kids can't get enough of it. The service is on point. In particular, this shop has a fantastic wine shop. The wine curator is a massive fan of French wines and has extensive knowledge of the best wines from the French region. He also can talk about other areas, but France is 100% his expertise. I mean, the French do know their wines. The ambiance of the store is welcoming. I love the layout and selection. I'm about a 15 minute drive from the shop. If I was closer, I'd be here every day of the week! lol. There is ample parking and I always feel so happy to shop here. Obsessed with this supermarket, they have everything and more. What I loved the most is that they have high quality prepared food ready to go. The cheese platters are great, the roasted rosemary chicken too. I also really like that they have guides of where everything is hanging on the corners of the aisles. I had a very disappointing experience at Wegmans this morning, and it needs to be addressed. I came in to return frozen peaches and pineapple that made me sick. As a transplant patient, I take food safety very seriously, so this wasn't a casual complaint. I explained this to the customer service representative, Holly, and was met with a dismissive attitude right from the start. She initially told me they don't accept returns on perishable items, barely listening to what I was saying. Even after I explained that both I--and my dog--became ill, her response was indifferent. It wasn't until I mentioned my dog that she suddenly began to engage and told me I needed to fill out a foodborne illness form. While I was still being helped, a white family walked up and began asking questions. Instead of asking them to wait, she shifted her attention to them and left me standing there mid-transaction. I had to speak up and ask if they could wait their turn before she called another employee. Then, during the refund process, she questioned where I purchased the items. When I told her it was the Woodmore location, she made a dismissive comment implying she wasn't surprised there was an issue based on that location. That comment didn't sit right with me at all. Let me be clear: the difference in how I was treated versus the other customers was noticeable. Wegmans has built a strong reputation, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Customer service should be consistent, respectful, and attentive--especially when someone is reporting a potential food safety issue. This interaction fell far below that standard. I absolutely love Wegmans !!!! And this location happens to have an amazing alcohol section so it is definitely one of my favorites. They literally have liters of tequila for $50. You can't beat that!!! They also have a great hot bar, burger bar, sandwich bar, sushi bar, and pizza bar! I've tried them all and honestly have no complaints. There is also plenty of spaces for you to sit down and enjoy your meal if that's what you choose to do. I also love the quick meals they have put together in here. I got a seafood boil for $30 and can't wait to add my seasonings to it later. I also love their cheese, and olive section. They have so many amazing cheeses, nuts, and olives. The fresh fruits and veggies are also a plus here and there is so much meat. I love fresh meat and they keep an abundance of it. Lots of organic and healthy options as well. The bakery is to die for with all the yummy cakes, and desserts. My personal favorite are the double chocolate chip cookies! There's also a great plant/flower section with lots to pick from. This review is strictly for the Burger Bar in their hot foods section! I got the Maple Onion Burger, only $11, coming in a box with a fun Burger Bar logo design. I think it's a pretty good deal for the area, if you don't want to go to a fast food joint. Among the eateries that cook food to-order in Wegmans, I also think it's one of the tastiest. The Wegmans has a large dining area inside, so plenty of space to eat your freshly made burgers. There's also a sink area to wash your hands! I love this store. It feels like a less expensive version of Whole Foods (with less plant based choices). There are lots of prepared food items (pizza, soup, hot bar stars like macaroni & cheese, etc) that you can enjoy while sitting in the dining area. You can charge your phone at most of the tables. The plugs by the booths are hidden. If you have a small child with you, have them crawl under the table & plug your cord in. Otherwise, you will have to feel for the plug or look under the table. Something was omit such as cut vegetable counter and volume of bigger Wegman's but this is good enough for town life. Though, some items feels like little more expensive than other stores but it's kind of acceptable range. We can get all what's needed here for our patio BBQ or even backyard BBQ party. Many variety of eat-in foods and take out items and big seating spaces in and out is I think so useful. I bought prepackaged lamb chops from the Wegmans on Wisconsin Avenue and when I opened them that same day at home, they smelled bad. I returned them the next day and Wegman's says they don't accept returns and don't give refunds for perishables. I complained and started writing this review and they gave me my $15.88 back. My sister finally took me here! I've heard so much about this grocery store. I love to cook, so it's always fun exploring different grocery stores that we don't have in California. I don't think anything will measure up to HEB in Texas, but it's good to check out nevertheless. :) This place is clean, new and definitely tailors to people who don't have a lot of time to cook. Lots of prepared food, and just from what I've tasted like their crab cakes (very reasonably priced at $7 for a huge one), and small tray of lobster Mac and cheese for $28, their food is better than Whole Foods. They had different size trays of charcuterie boards as well. It was right before NYE, so lots of choices for entertaining. I would have loved to grab a sandwich and walk up to the International Baccalaureate grounds and sit by the enormous Christmas tree up on street level. It was such a nice day when we went. Prices are pretty good, but I wasn't able to find a few things that I needed. Had to go to Safeway for that. 18 count eggs were less than $3!!! Omg I'd shop here all the time. As you probably know the Wegmans in Rockville opened yesterday and it caused quite a stir with many many people crowding the aisles. I know that will die obviously with time but today I brought my son to check it out and he and I both got food from the wing bar and the Asian bar. He got six chicken wings and some macaroni and cheese and I got a Takeout container of Chinese food. It was $34. I think there were six chicken wings, a small portion of macaroni and cheese and with mine I got five different types of chicken, some rice and an eggroll. I have to say $19 for basically one portion of Chinese food..... very overpriced!! It was all very bland and looked like Chinese food, but it tasted like it really hadn't been marinated or I don't know what. It just tasted very bland and since I paid double what it should cost, I don't really understand why I would have cause to get anything from their prepared food section again. read more

The best seafood selection, meat and cheese selection in the city hands down and they sell liquor and beer. But there are some drawbacks too. The hot bar/salad bar still needs management attention. I visited mid-afternoon on a Sunday and the hot bar was half empty. I posted pictures so unfortunate. The prices are also hit and miss with a lot of price gouging. For example, a single bagel is $1.29 where nearby stores run about $0.79...that's 63% higher for you math nerds. But then to balance large cans of crushed tomatoes are 2 for $3 which is a great deal so better to go with a price conscious mind set and select those items with a good deal and avoid impulse purchases. The parking situation is still embarrassing and off putting, but in fairness to store probably a greedy landlord situation, however the checkout girl asked if I needed a validation which is a positive development because if you don't get validated you get slapped with an $8 charge. This was my second experience here. I placed an order online for curbside pickup thinking it would expedite my shopping experience but it seems there's still a need for improvement with this process. Instructions are provided when you select the pickup option but it still was a little confusing to me as to where to go and how to get there. The garage is like a labyrinth but there are signs to guide you to the curbside pickup area. You're supposed to check in and provide the number of the parking spot you're in but my phone service must've been shoddy because it did not recognize I was there for the app to give me the option to check in...it thought I was still 2 minutes away. (I can't be the only AT&T customer to have run into this problem) The signs in the parking spots instruct you to call a phone number if you have any trouble so I did, but nobody answered! It went to a voicemail that hadn't been setup. I had to call the direct number to the store and speak to someone with customer service. Thankfully, I wasn't placed on hold for an eternity and she was friendly and let someone know I was outside. It took a few minutes but someone finally came out and loaded everything in the car. This experience wasn't a deal breaker for me so I'll be back. I just won't be a frequent customer and know what I'm up against until improvements are made. read more

The creme brûlée cheesecake was very good, but it is a very, very small slice. The gingerbread cake may be the most moist cake I've ever eaten. It is worth it! Sadly I hate to agree that this has become the worst Wegman's ever. They hired good people, offered mostly good quality food (the beef and lamb should be avoided), and then apparently decided that regular consumer customers were much less lucrative than Instacart buyers. And the too narrow aisles are regularly blocked by loads of more to be shelved that the instacart buyers barrel through while knocking into the poor lone customers. There are so few cashiers, with no express lanes for example for fewer than 15 items, that it takes 20 minutes or more in a line while buyers push 1, 2, or even 3 packed carts ahead f you. Self checkout is now a necessity and a nightmare, with constant missing Codes freezing the machines with a help on the way announcement, when usually no helper is available. Wegmans is by far the best grocery store chain. Nothing comes close. So many people are thrilled that Wegmans has opened up in the area. There is ample garage parking here. Prices are on par with other grocery stores in the area. Checkout lines are extremely quick. This store has everything, even Wagyu beef. So this review is specifically for this store. I'm a regular customer of Wegmans in Fairfax and that one as well as the one at Leesburg are five star operations. Unfortunately they cannot convey the same standard in DC. I gave the store four different occasions to make sure that my experience wasn't a " one of " type thing. So for the small positive part, they do offer most of the things that you can get at the other stores but less maybe due to space constraints. The parking lot is fairly large, and yes it's tight but you're in the city so no complaints there. It's fairly easy in and out. This is kind of where things fall apart. One thing I hate to see when I walk into any type of a retail store or when employees are just talking to each other, on their phones, or just doing nothing. I've always been under the idea of if you have time to lean you have time to clean. At every occasion people at different places within the store were just standing there talking to each other or on their phones. That's OK but my issue also is when you ask them a question they almost act like they're doing you a favor by giving you an answer, again this is at Just this location. So they close at midnight, and going there at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, notice that they were out of many things for example in the seafood department, and when I asked them if they had any available, something simple like salmon, they were just say nope. Which I find very interesting because at any other location they would go to the back and just cut a fresh piece. The same thing happened to me at 1 PM, 4 PM and 5 PM three different visits. I can go on and on but the general atmosphere of the store is just not a typical Wegmans, and Safeway and of course Whole Foods employees are much more responsive and friendly towards customers. This place is fine if you know what you need just a run in and grab it but otherwise I wouldn't recommend going here as the prices arent any lower and mostly higher than other places, And employees for the most part could really care less being there. read more

First the prices are way up there : meat, fish... sky high . Then the produce . The organic and non organic seem mixed up and very hard to find the price .We decided to go once more to try the Asian bar last Friday evening. 45 dollars for 3 smaller eaters and honestly the food didn't seem fresh at all and was so over salted ( yet I do like salt ) that we had no choice but to trash the food. Sadly we will be going back to Giant for most groceries and Whole Foods for the fruits ( better and clearer to know what we are buying ). All the hype for nothing. read more

I'm not a big fan of huge grocery stores and this place is way too big for me. It's much easier to find things when the store is a reasonable size but here you could be walking around in circles forever and still not find what you are looking for. I think their main feature is the abundance of prepared foods - they do have nice sandwiches and some of the prepared Asian foods are not bad although pricey. The bakery's ok with some good breads but the desserts are disappointing, but they do have a pretty extensive liquor store. Despite the massive store size it doesn't feel spacious. The shopping carts they have seem to be unnecessarily extra wide so people bump into each other a lot which is something that never happened anywhere else. OMG - these early reviews are hilarious! Narrow aisles? Reduced selection? You do realize that this store is on the ground floor of an apartment building and not sitting in a 10-acre field surrounded by parking, right? It is about half the size of a traditional suburban store, but it is still a welcome addition to upper NWDC. For those of us who have had to endure the ordeal of the Wisconsin Ave Giant, or (even more horrific) the Safeway down the street, this Wegmans is a refreshing alternative. I especially appreciate the helpful overview of the liquor department from a shopper who admittedly doesn't drink alcohol. I am familiar with the Wegmans store brands and I think they are all great. The produce department has summer items that I have never seen in any other grocery store. The meat selection in the butcher case and prepackaged section are terrific. I avoid seafood and sushi, so I will keep my commentary to myself on those departments. Haha! I do agree that the price on prepared items is too high. I don't think $13 for one serving of pasta seems like a good value, or something that you would buy for lunch regularly. $23 for the same 'family size' entree seems better if you can get four servings out of it - but not the way my family eats pasta! I think the management should take a look at the pricing on those individual entrees. I think Wegmans has always had an unconventional layout. If they are like every other grocery store, they will keep moving stuff around and hopefully, they will come upon a merchandising flow that seems more intuitive. You do have to pay attention to the endcaps and islands - you may find some cool stuff on those that you might just walk right past. I am willing to give them some more time to get settled and make it all work really well. read more
