I was amazed that this store is rated so poorly. I like it. Yeah, it's expensive, but hey it's DC. The variety and quality are very good, I would say a step above Whole Foods. I don't think that I would shop here regularly for staples and such, but it's great for a quick pickup meal. Store is pretty big, airy, and brightly lit. Parking is abundant and validated. I haven't had that many interactions with the staff, but interestingly other customers have been quite friendly and helpful. read more

Very disappointing, especially considering that it's a Wegmans. They often run out of basic items in stock! Makes me not want to give my money to an establishment that does not put in the effort to do the bare minimum. Extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Wegmans has a cult following, and I really don't get the hype. I appreciated that this store has a manageable size unlike the Glenarden location and a parking lot not designed by someone on LSD (I'm looking at you, Trader Joe's). Once you scratch the shiny surface, you realize this is just another grocery store, but one that gives Whole Foods/Whole Paycheck a run for its money. The prices seem competitive for produce, maybe a bit high for dairy and dry goods, but the meats and seafood are crazy expensive. Prepared foods are right up there too, most of which didn't look very exciting to me, and $13 for a small portion of pasta in tomato sauce seems beyond crazy. After hearing so much excitement about this place, I guess I expected more but I don't think I've found any reason to go out of my way to shop here. read more

I can say that I understand why Wevmans is voted the best grocery store. From the time I walked through the door , I was greeted by a rep & asked what could they do or direct me to. The buffet & other food stations was on point. From the fresh order sandwich's to the fresh hamburgers & pizza was good. The lounge area had tvs & an ice & water machine. Surprisingly more expensive compared to other Wegman's (such as at Tysons or Germantown). Wegman's Almond milk is $2.69 vs $1.99 at Germantown. Canned beans are $0.99 vs $0.79. Wegman's ice cream is $3.49 vs $2.49. Additionally the aisles are narrower than the suburban Wegman's. And that garage is not that easy to maneuver through (similar to the Tyson's location). I'll probably stick to the suburban Wegman's and avoid this one. read more

The brand new Wegmans on Wisconsin takes up the basement of the Fannie Mae building, yet one has to walk around the building to access it on foot. The store has a large prepared food section, offers great flowers and bouquets and an eclectic collection of foods. The cakes and psasry look great,brad appears to be overpricedAlcoholic beferages seem to be a focus area. Despite the large store area, carts get stuck in the aisle, which are a bit too narrow fro two carts to pass comfortable, all the time. Other than very few sale items, everything is more expensive than in other stores. The burger counter is a bust. I tried Danny's Favorite Burger and found a small burger without much dressing; a slice of american cheese, a sprinkle of dill relish that was hard to find, some 'sauce' that didn't contain liquid on the side. No letuce, no tomato, no onion. The bun was totally unremarkable and decidedly not toasted. The burger was probably the size of a MacDonalds burger from 1950 or so. A couple of bites and it's gone. The fries were ok, but the paper bag only reached the top part of the cardboard holder, so was actually much less than one would expect from the packaging. All over, it's nice to have another store in the neighborhood,. If one needs to pre-prepared cakes, burger patties, booze for a surprise party the shop will provide everything one needs, at decent quality and at a cost. Ready to eat food is vastly overprized and not something I will spen money for. Based on my burger experience, I will not spend money on it again. For daily errands Wgman's likely is too pricey and too dificult to access, especially since Whole Foods and Giant are in easy walking distance and Trader Joe's and Safeway a 5 min drive away. read more

Based on reviews, I've wished for years to have a Wegmans nearby. Then this store opened on Wisconsin Avenue several weeks ago. Wanting to beat the crowd, I came at 6:30 this morning, a half hour after opening. The very first two things I looked for, sushi and breads, showed long empty counters. Staff were working behind the counters, but nothing out yet. I passed two more specialty counters in the same condition. Otherwise, I found almost everything on my list. Then at check-out, only one of the many lines was open. I was fourth with two bulging carts in front of me. I found a manager and told him my disappointments (although I forgot to mention the check-out). He explained that the specialty counters I mentioned are ready by 9:00 or 10:00. I expressed surprise that a retail establishment would open to customers hours before they are ready to service the customers. So if you go to this Wegmans, wait until mid-morning. I probably won't return. read more

I go 90% for the sushi bar. It's kind of out of the way for grocery runs and is on an awful part of Wisconsin avenue, so I wouldn't be jazzed to go there often. The cafe seating area is usually clean enough as well (like a mall food court). Also they have cheerwine which is a plus. read more

I've been to other Wegmans. Germantown, Columbia, New Jersey, and Ny. The new one in DC? Never again. Empty shelves (the truck comes tomorrow), cold reheated pizza, and an overall unclean feel. $10 for a pre-wrapped tuna salad on whole wheat, REALLY?! I've lived in Co, Md, Fl, Ca, Ny, Dc, Nj, Tx and have shopped in many gormet grocery stores over the years; Wegman's is a total disappointment to me after hearing all the hype over the past 6+ months. I left the store without buying anything. Their uninspired venue (IMHO) reminded me of the refurbished Amazon in Glover Park where I also won't shop. If you are not like me, and prefer to spend your income on overpriced (IMHO), uninspired-looking (IMHO) foods, you may love this store. You may be happy to shell out $19 for a dozen meatballs or $11 for a dried-out looking half breast of chicken parm. To be fair, the house-brand, bottled, spring water was $1.18 and Wegman-brand potatoe chips were affordable. The booze section looked promising, but I don't drink alcohol, so perhaps you'll appreciate their selection more than me. Another thing I noticed was that I did not see a single employee handing out prepared-food samples (big mistake) nor did any of the dozens of employee speak to me, Many of the employees I did take note of were instead "yucking-it-up" with one another and in the process, totally ignoring the shoppers. Lastly, they might consider introducting scooters to navigate the expansive and somewhat chaotic (IMHO) floorplan. There is little to no chance that I'll return to the Weg. Luckily, for the "Weg" they don't need my patronage, they will soon have a captive audience of several hundred CityRidge apt dwellers who will gladly pay extra rather than leave the CR "compound" to more judiciously spend their money. read more

Poor selection, mostly low quality private label. Low ceilings and thin isles make it feel cavernous, crowded and tough to get around, especially with so many on-line shoppers. Prices didn't even seem good. read more

I went to Wegmans today to check out this new establishment near glover Park area, it took over the building that was once Fannie Mae. I was excited because it is the first in DC and it is a nice big space. Parking is great but stepping into the shop, some.phones will not have reception, which is unfortunate..they do offer wi fi but it doesn't let u do normal.things like soon into your wegman app. I had to step up to do that, kept the screen on so I could scan it. In general, there are a lot of good variety of prepared meals which I love..I bought a few meals and I have not try them yet but looks good. But it is expensive. Unlike trader Joe's, it lacks the nice fun, ambience. Things look stale in terms of the look of the interior for something so new. Many may not care as long as the produce is good. But for me, it is as important because there are other good choices in that neighborhood. Things just cost a lot more, even when they don't need to be, like Scallions I was still content until check out time, I tried buying something and it requires a code, so they said help Will come. But no help cam until.i asked and signal for someone. One staff just walked passed me and said I can't help you, someone else will..the staff who helped..she looks angry, no smile, nothing, she doesn't even try. Just point at the code. Customer service to be should be decent at the very least, a smile goes the long way. I wouldn't want to even give it any stars because the experience made me sad on a Sunday night. But since I did buy some items, I gave some stars..I could even get a loaf of bread for less than 6.50. That is expensive for bread. I could afford it but some prices are hard to swallow if the are supposed to be their own brand. I would go back to trader Joe's or giant or Amazon fresh. They really could brighten the atmosphere and have their staff go through some good customer service. read more

This is the first and only Wegman's I've visited. Prices are extremely expensive for meat and fish. They sell the exact same brands as other supermarkets but charge substantially more. The bread I usually buy for $3.50 was over $6 here. I dislike the layout because the entrance is cramped (one door to enter and exit) and the aisles take forever to get to from the entrance. Never liked supermarkets where the aisles aren't facing you vertically as soon as you walk in. Prepared food is prohibitively expensive. More than Whole Foods. I suspect once the novelty wears off, this Wegman's will lose it's appeal given inflation and high gas prices. There are too many other less expensive grocery options in DC and the suburbs. read more

Wow. Wegman's really blew it. What an awful design for a new store. Way too much stuff, squeezed into way too small a space. I went for my first visit on a Monday morning around 11:30am. It was moderately crowded, but so difficult to navigate through their ridiculously over-crowded aisles. From what others have told me about other Wegmans, I expected a cavernous space with an outstanding selection of offerings. Neither is true here. I found the product selection no better than the average Giant or Safeway and not half as good as Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods. The design is so bad. The entrance from the garage throws everyone into the end of the checkout lines. There's no sense that anyone thought through traffic flow or management. It's annoyingly chaotic. And that theme repeats throughout the store. A terribly inefficient use of the space. You'd also think that a new store could have trained new employees to be friendly or helpful, but the entire staff acts as if they've been working there underpaid and under-appreciated for twenty years. no thanks wegmans. go back to fairfax. i'll shop elsewhere. read more

Five years in the making and the floor plan is a dud. The smaller urban footprint stores might as well not exist. (Same is true for Target stores.) The shopping experience is reduced to zero. Upper NW DC deserves better than a slapdash, half-hearted effort. This store design failed out of the gate. If shoppers have to fight through short, congested aisles, lost or belligerent shoppers, and an incomprehensible floor plan, then it may be worth the extra gas money to shop in the 'burbs. Their fresh products may be high quality and their prepared items great, but why would I expend the effort for a horrible experience? read more

It may have taken so long for a Wegman's to open in DC because it turns out to be superfluous. The much-vaunted selection is closer to a Giant than a Wholefoods, and I see no reason to go further for lesser quality than the seven minutes it takes to drive to Wholefoods. The supersized store on Wisconsin veers from daunting to horrifying. Virtually everything is packaged to facilitate self-checkout. Perhaps it is convenient for those missing the closed Wholefoods on Wisconsin, but I think the one exploratory trip this morning may do it for me. read more

Just left Wegmans. Handed my parking ticket to cashier to validate, but apparently she didn't. Exit reader charged me 12$. There were 4 cars behind me, so I didn't want to make all of them back up. So I paid the 12$. Called Wegmans customer service and they said to call Colonial Parking about it. I don't know if the exit reader was broken or if cashier didn't actually validate ticket. I was using Instacart, and my shopper ran into obstacles at so many sections. she was shopping early, but I assumed the store would be stocked by 7:00 am. The most egregious instance was in the meat department. I wanted two pounds of beef stew meat and I didn't want the prepackaged meat because it is full of muscle and not very good. I had her ask the butcher to cut stew meat from a piece of beef in the case. Nothing doing! They first said they didn't have any scraps from which to cut the stew meat and THEN they wouldn't cut anything from the case! I expect much more from a store like Wegman's. when I called and asked to speak with the manager, they connected me with the "team leader" of the meat department. No luck there either. From now on, I will buy my meats from a local butcher and the remainder of my groceries from Giant. I won't even go into detail about the other items they didn't have. Poor service and poor choices. read more
