If you've been in one Trader Joe's in your lifetime, you know the layout is pretty much the same. However, this is one of the largest of the few in the area I was in, which was on Wisconsin Ave. What sets this apart from where I live in Maryland is the fact that in Maryland you cannot buy wine in grocery stores or places such as Trader Joe's and on top of that the wine/liquor prices in Maryland are outrageous. Therefore, for that moment I felt like I was in heaven when I stopped in and saw the wine selections, my heart was happy, I felt like I was back home in Seattle, WA, and for those of you who have never been to Washington State, one thing you need to know is this, you can buy beer, wine and liquor very late at any grocery store, 7-11, gas stations and/mom & pop stores in and outiside of the city and that's why I was so happy to see Trader Joe's in DC had the option to shop for both groceries libations (wine). The staff members are always happy to help you find items, and customer service is always great, in my opinion. I love me some Trader Joe's, even if I'm not able to purchase wine at my local Trader Joe's, or not is still my favorite place to shop for my groceries since I eat the same thing I already know how much I'm going to spend on griceries. and I will take the drive. However, now I will make the drive to DC to do both when I can. After all, I'm a road warrior. Again, this is just my opinion and experiences. Love U! read more

This Trader Joe's is the best in DC. It's pretty big relative to other locations in DC and has a lot of products! I regularly go to the Glover Park location so am quite familiar with the layout, but I must say this location is spacious and even when it's busy, it's rarely overwhelming. Also the staff here are what makes this location so great! They are always so friendly, fast, and efficient! I have been to other locations where there was a lack of friendliness and efficiency, and these qualities really make the difference. Trader Joe's also still manages to have reasonable prices in DC which I appreciate. Lastly, they have free parking which is always a bonus. read more

This grocery store is and always has been my go-to store for all of my grocery needs. The store isn't the closest grocery store to where I live, but I come here because of the awesome organic products that they have. I'm definitely down with their organic meat and produce. I came here today right around 3pm and the place was packed. Nevertheless, I was surprised about how most of their products were still stocked-up. I saw a couple of employees doing their thing in the produce section, and everything that I came here like apples, bananas, and Cape Cara navel oranges was here. Apart from that, I also picked-up a pack of all-natural chicken and ground beef, a half gallon of reduced fat milk, some strawberry yogurt cereal, and a prepared caeser salad chicken with salmon that I will have for dinner. I could have kept on shopping but this will definitely hold me over through the weekend. read more

I am ecstatic that Trader Joe's is located in my neighborhood of Glover Park. Unlike other locations, the aisles are wide so it is easy to shop. They have a fantastic value. The customer service is excellent; I have had refunds for two flash-frozen fish purchases where the seal broke while defrosting. This newer store doesn't have the bonhomie of other Trader Joe's with staff greeting you, asking you if you found everything you need, and wearing Hawaiin shirts. I miss that. The biggest issue is parking. The two entrances are in odd places. The parking lines are too close the large cars that people drive to shop. See photos. read more

I almost don't want to review so DC locals don't bombard my beautiful TJ secrets. It's clean, not crowded, and employees are always so helpful and pleasant. Even during COVID-19. They aren't freaking out, they are sanitizing all carts, main areas, explaining the directional arrows, social distancing, monitoring the lines, getting in and out of elevators, check out spaces, and the parking garage. I love this Trader Joe's more than life itself because I always find what I need and in addition, the customer service is out of this world. The line can be long but moves so fast because everyone is so efficient and amazing at their jobs. Literally a dream. I used to live and work in the area so I am very familiar with this Trader Joe's in particular (I frequent many grocery stores, and many other TJs) but nothing compares to this place. Also it's in DC so there is an excellent selection of wine! During the beginning of the pandemic they handled everything so gracefully and well (appropriate social distancing and capacity count). They also sanitized your carts, I felt so safe shopping there. I wished all grocery stores could match this level of customer service, I'd never complain about my life again (half kidding). read more

Definitely on the small side but they are well stocked. Parking is cramped but easy, especially if you enter behind the building off of Whitehaven St NW. Same way you would exit the garage. They did a great job of having a ton of cashiers at small counters to get you out of there quickly. read more

I left my work bag in my cart, with my laptop and other valuables inside. I called Trader Joes about 10 minutes after I left, and someone answered on the first ring (shops never answer their phones in the US anymore, and if they do they put you on a long hold). They said they had my bag, and they would hold it for me. When I came back, they were so kind. This really made my week. I want to give a specific shout out to Dominic and Darius!! They SAVED me! I love the Kringle and needed 40 of them for gifts. When I got to the store there were none I foolishly did not call head. I asked Dominic for help, he enlisted his co-worker Darius and they went to search. They came out of the stock room with 3 large boxes...my 40 Kringles! I went to tip them and had no cash. I was embarrassed and they were gracious and kind! They were FANTASTIC!!! And my friends who received the Kringles loved them! read more

He saw me walking with a large cart and he walked away. No one was in front of me and he's register was empty. I guess he was waiting for another registers to take me. This is a great Trader Joes. I find what I need and of course things I have no business getting and didn't initially walk into the store for. The staff are super helpful and help direct me when looking for something. I also love being able to try things before purchasing. Last week I found an Indian style bread I've been looking for and I experienced super nostalgia. I also love their quick vegetarian Indian dishes. PARKING AT THIS LOCATION IS LITERALLY TERRIBLE. That's the only reason I couldn't give a 5. It's not their fault but more so the style of DC and how they are ill prepared for literally everything. I love Trader Joe's - this location did not disappoint! First, the set up - it's a fairly large TJ's, and I can imagine even if it was busy it wouldn't feel terribly crowded. I have never seen that much open space around the produce! It was wonderful. The workers, as always, were super kind. Second - and this info will hopefully be null and void soon - I was extremely impressed with the way they were functioning during the pandemic. They only allowed X into the store - the protocol was one in, one out. Someone came outside to explain that every five or so minutes, and to request you wear a mask inside as well. We only waited about 15 minutes. Once you were in, there was plenty of space and a small checkout line. They also sanitized each cart after every use. i have never felt so loved by a stranger in my life. this location has amazing staff! I remember a few weeks ago, it was the end of the day and I was on a college tour, I stopped in to get a bite to eat and met a stranger who made my day. i can't remember her name but we started talking and she offered to buy my snack. the feeling of love from someone you've never met before is quite comforting. one never knows how far their simple act of kindness might extend. i was so thankful for her kindness as I got lost on my way to the hotel. I love going to this store but the homeless guy out front has got to go. He blocks the door and demands money from people. He's very aggressive and obnoxious. "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE ME MONEY!" and then calls people names when they refuse. I know his presence has been mentioned many times to your associates. I'm sure there's nothing you can do if he stands on the sidewalk but most times, I see him he's actually standing in the vestibule. If nothing's done about this guy, I'm just going to start going to Safeway. I do fear for mine and other's safety. read more

It's finally here! I work nearby and we had heard the speculation for months and it was a very happy occasion to hear that it was true, and visit once opened. This TJ's location is easily accessible and located on Wisconsin Ave. between Whitehaven and 35th Streets. There's not a lot of parking nearby, but they do have a garage attached! The inside is such a delight. The location is huge, much bigger than other locations, and as clear as can be (given that they just opened). There are elevators to the garage too and open up to the main entryway. The aisles are organized well and have plenty of options - many that I have never seen at my local TJ's or items I thought were no longer available. Their wine selection is large, they even have upscale brands and half bottles available. Their cheese is plentiful and they have tons of premade/frozen meals available. The produce is fresh and inexpensive. I'm looking forward to making this a staple in my lunch and grocery routine! Also, during week one of being open, they handed out free reusable bags, themed for DC! This was a nice treat and much appreciated. read more

In the alignment chart of DC grocery stores, the Glover Park TJ, without a doubt, represents lawful good. I have only ever had pleasant experiences here. Bald 'supervisor' (I think Micah?) reeked of cigarette smoke when he helped my cashier with a refund for my flowers. I was especially disappointed as my toddler grandson, who was with me, had to experience this as well. 4 stars for the rest of the store though! First off, staff members are SO friendly and helpful, which is so appreciated. They really go above and beyond to make the TJ's shopping trip a pleasant one every time and have excellent customer service. The store is always well-stocked (pre-pandemic, I have been ordering since then) and quality is always great. The single thing I do not love about the store is the really strange parking entrance - but I've encountered weird TJ's parking lots in pretty much every state I've ever shopped in. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Who that is? Besides me. Yet, no matter how decrepit the thin link is, it will hold because of one woman--Maya. A genuine spirit lifter, she showed concern when I lifted a bag full of fractured carrots from my cart, compassionately offering to swap the bag of spineless fragments for a bag filled with its more fortunate, cohesive carrot brethren. Wow! Then, with an eagerness to preserve her favor or just by her selfless nature, she repeatedly offered up a prude peanut butter cup package that had not yet been marked with the kiss of the floor. Finally, with my hands occupied, she helped open the front door! Pleasantries like that unburden my mind and guarantee a return to this Trader Joe's after the pantry empties. Thank you! read more

Why do I forget to patronize this gem of a grocery, wine and beer store. The workers are uniformly pleasant and helpful. Some of their lower priced wines are simply delicious and worth far more than their prices. In my opinion both GIANT and SAFEWAY have gone down in quality, cleanliness and courtesy. I love this store, however, my girlfriend and I have noticed some weird things recently. They're being cautious about social distancing, which I support, but are making my girlfriend and I take the elevator up separately, and only one of us is allowed to pay at the cash register while the other waits at the elevator. I understand these precautions but they aren't implemented for everyone. We've only been here a few times, and two of the times we've been here we've seen employees allow heterosexual couples pay/ride the elevator together. Maybe they perceive my girlfriend and I as friends, and separate us because of that, but I don't appreciate that assumption. read more

Finally! I am still working the TJ options to find the sweet spots, for now: frozen veggies, grilled chicken slivers, great variety of nuts--raw & unsalted option as well as others. Still stop by convenient Safeway to pick up specific brands, but this is large, clean & full of good stuff. And to echo a previous commenter, I have NEVER had such universally nice staff & cashiers. Good citizens who shop at this store: I worked here for a brief time. I went into store last night and the shelves, freezers and refrigerator shelves were barren. This morning at 9:15 am everything, yes everything, was restocked. There were at least 80-90 people in line. Do not under any circumstances think that the TJ management and staff are not working hard--it's not easy work. So pleased that this store on Wisconsin Avenue has opened. It is clean.! The workers who stock the shelves and counters were very helpful. The prices are lower than GIANT (and you do not need a card or a parking ticket) and SAFEWAY (again you do not need a card). Despite the fat that the store was very full the checkout was a breeze. The cashier, David, should get highest marks for efficiency, competence and friendliness. Highly recommended. read more

Love this location!!! Always well stocked, neat, and the crew is sooo nice. I honestly hated grocery shopping before they opened (sorry safeway you suck) but now I am here 3-4 times a week and my fridge is always stocked. I've never had such a good experience with the crew members as I have here, if you ask for help they are more than happy to show around, and more importantly they all look like they actually like their job! Trader Joe's is typically a great place to shop and I've been really happy since this one has opened. I just feel it's important to let customers know how truly helpful and kind the employees are at this location. With everything happening due to COVID-19, I have been unable to do my weekly shopping, as I get sick easily. TJ's doesn't do online or curbside, so I've been struggling to find a way to food shop (online p/u and delivery through a variety of stores has not been available, as you probably have experienced, too). I just want to give a shout out to Didi for being extremely helpful and going above and beyond in answering my questions, helping me figure out best times to come, etc. I am definitely in the immunosuppressed category so I am grateful for Didi's taking the time to guide me through the process.
