I purchased abquarter pound of wild blueberry granola, and vegetable chips mix. There is a sushi section, and believe it or not ready-made lunch sandwiches. I purchased a turkey croissant sandwich to eat for lunch. I couldn't resist a Kioa cold brew coffee as well. I especially like the authentic peanut butter machine, where you can make your own. Everything is totally awesome about this store, and I do believe it's even more affordable than the big chain organic grocery store.

Sometimes, there will be a fun bargain. They have limited clothing, seasonal items, toys, gardening items and more. The produce is decent. The bakery selection is varied. There are Virginia locations with more inventory but this place will due when I don't want to drive as far. The prices are cheaper than Harris Teeter and Safeway. I still prefer some brand items (ketchup, soup) but I like inexpensive items. Aldi is regularly in our rotation. Just remember to bring a quarter for the shopping cart.

The market is anchored by Mike and his Licking Creek Farms team, who bring bounties of fresh, quality, and (most importantly) affordable vegetation. I'm talking heirloom apples and tomatoes for less than you pay for basic shit at Giant. Plus, Mike will usually be walking around cutting off sample pieces of whatever he's particularly proud of that day. Admittedly, I've been convinced several times to buy something I hadn't intended to after he gave me a piece of succulent produce. The other vendors might have baked goods or herbs or artsy handy-craft stuff for sale; to be honest, I would trade all of that to have someone hawking animal flesh, but so far my wishes are unfulfilled. For people who think Eastern Market or DuPont market are the coolest things ever: stay away, you won't like the Brookland version. Mike and many of his guys are still covered in dirt; you might have to walk in some mud; there isn't a huge selection; no one is impressed that you're trying to make a lifestyle statement by buying "local" or whatever; it's not a place to socialize or people-watch.
