Authentic food with a very slow service. There is just the owner and someone else in the kitchen while there are multiple people ordering from this place, so when you go expect to wait at least an hour. The space doesn't have a lot of sitting so if you have more than 3 people, is best to take it to go. Be aware that everything is spicy!

Love that Wee's has a following, especially bc Malaysian food can be hard to find. The ordering station is right at the front when you enter into Royal Blue Grocery. There wasn't anyone manning the station, so we were told to order online and wait. When we returned, our food was there but no one to thank or say hi to! There are two small tables inside and extra tables/seating on the patio outside. We took our food to go and the boxes survived the few blocks of a walk home. We got: - beef rendang - good, just a little hint of spice that was perfect. I'm not too big a fan of pickled veggies or shrimp chips so the accompaniments - char kway teow- very mild flavors but good for your less adventurous friends Overall, underwhelmed but glad they have a home downtown

It's moved. Their current and only location is now inside Royal Blue Grocery at 609 Congress Avenue. The grocery is small but very cool. It's got seating for five inside and additional tables outside. For beverages, Wee's offers an absolutely amazing Thai green tea, and you can also buy any beverage you want from the grocery store, including beer, wine or hard kambucha. There's a parking garage on the backside of the same block. But bring your smallest vehicle. It's tight and most of the spaces are compact spaces. Don't come here for the service, but for the food. We tried beef rendang. A chicken vermicelli bowl and a chicken satee plate. Everything was awesome. Fine dining Malaysian cuisine in a tiny grocery store!

I will admit we didn't explore much with this order, but it was still impeccable. The wings and satay were flavorful and juicy with amazing sauces and just the right amount of spice. Wee's will always feel like home cooked food, and despite it being in royal blue, their small corner has three two tops for people to use. Don't expect a dine in experience, but expect amazing food and the most amazing woman - if you're able to catch Wee when she's not hard at work!

Decent food. We ordered beef fried rice, beef vermicelli, beef rendeng, beef char kway teow, and sweet sour chicken. The char kway teow tasted the best. The service was great: very polite. It's literally inside a gas station store, and the store sign says Foodie's Kitchen. There are parking spaces outside the store. Three little tables. Best to take the food to-go.

Serving up delicious Malaysian food, Wee's Cozy Kitchen is the very definition of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Located inside a Shell gas station near the UT campus, this place is one of Austin's best kept secrets. The portions of food here are so generous, the service was friendly and accommodating, and there is seating available. I believe they're only open in the afternoons, but be patient as this is a two-person operation so you're guaranteed your food is made to order. And you won't be disappointed! The beef rendang was tender and flavorful. I would easily order this again. The seafood nasi lemak was filled with different kinds of protein, like shrimp and squid, and each bite carried a wave of satisfaction. Each of these entrees came with a side dish of dried anchovies, which provided a nice contrast, and cucumbers, for freshness. Not pictured is the kaya toast, which was my personal introduction to Malaysian food years ago. The flavor was nostalgic and delicious, although next time I'd probably have it as a toast instead of a croissant as I would much prefer the crunch. Don't forget to wash it all down with the green Thai tea! I can't wait to come back and try all their other offerings.

Wee's Cozy Kitchen is indeed that--a tiny space inside a Shell station in West Campus. Don't let the location fool you, it's the only place in town for decent Malaysian food. Wee, a really sweet person, is the only chef and cooks every dish herself. Be patient. When your order is ready, you'll know it's straight off the stove and piping hot. The char kway teow (fried rice noodles) is tasty. It's not exactly what I'm used to but if you love stir fried noodles, you'll like it. But omg, the beef rendang! Looove the beef rendang. Gonna order nasi lemak with chicken next as I find myself craving a taste of home. Happy to see that Malaysia's national dish is on the menu here. If you're looking for something different for dinner and want to support a local business, give Wee's Cozy Kitchen a try!

Been here for dinner twice and had a great experience both times! Came on a weekday and weekend evening and didn't experience any wait to order each time. With that said everything is made to order, and there is a super small staff, so I wouldn't come here in a rush. The staff is super friendly and very willing to help if you're unsure on what to order I've tried the Beef Rendang, Chicken Nasi Lemak, and Pandan filled Croissant. Both entrees are super flavorful and have a very different flavor profile from other Asian cuisines I've tried. I'd describe both dishes as rich and nutty, with the rendang leaning more rich and nasi lemak more nutty. Both are absolutely worth trying! They have a couple different filling options for the croissant/toast that I'm sure would also be delicious, but the pandan croissant was good enough that I had it for dessert both times. the filling is super creamy and reminds me a little bit of taro desserts I've had Particularly given its convenient location this has become one of my favorite spots in town. The novelty of having a sit down dinner at a gas station is fun, and the food is top notch.

It's a fun little eatery, housed with the Royal Blue Grocery. I wanted something small so I got the Roti Canai and the soup was delicious. It is peppery but not overwhelming. You can sit behind the cashier or along the counter. They're a chill group of people, Wee surprised me by coming out to meet me as I was receiving my order. What a nice personal touch to the customer experience! Check out this spot for Malaysian food and support a women-founded and women-owned business!

Located inside Royal Blue on Congress with minimal seating inside but lots of outdoor seating. All the food came out steaming hot and fresh. The Char Kway Teow w/ Chicken was good, but the chicken was salty and I would have liked more veges. I don't know if they do a spicy version, but it's quite bland spice wise. Flavor was good. 4/5 The Rendeng w/ Beef was good flavor but the beef was dry and chewy. Requested spicy but it was not spicy at all. I think they just don't do spicy? Flavor was good again but the meat did not taste freshly cooked to me. 3/5 The vege rolls were steaming hot but one of them came out burnt. 2 for $6 seems a bit steep imo. but had they not been burnt they would be a 4. 3/5

Wee's Cozy Kitchen has been on my radar for a while -- and I'm happy to report that it lived up to my expectations. :) My dad and I shared the beef rendang: the meat was tender and complex in flavor. It paired nicely with the rice, which tasted similar to the rice served in Hainanese chicken. The pickled vegetables added a refreshing, acidic contrast. And the peanuts, cucumbers, and shrimp chips was the cherry on top. The owner of the place was so sweet. She chatted with us a bit before going back to work. Truly, a humble joint that everyone should stop by if they are in downtown!

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

The restaurant itself is clean, bright and welcoming, the decor is nice with a good selection of those Burmese puppets and other charming doodads, and the people who run the place are lovely. Of course, the real test is the food, and judging from the lunch I had there today, this place should be a winner. My friend and I shared a tea leaf salad as appetizer, and it lives up to the best I had in Myanmar. We both tried variations on the Shan noodle entree, dry (as opposed to a soup-based version) and both the chicken and pork types were delicious, with a wonderful complexity of flavors and textures. So far, the only concession I noticed to American tastes was in the portion size. The entrées were huge, which is OK by me, as I am already looking forward to dinner and maybe breakfast! The service was very friendly, and we got to chat with mom, the genius behind these great flavors, and she is as wonderful as the food she cooks. I immediately knew we made the wrong choice when I ordered a "Banana Old Fashioned" and the only thing "banana" about it was a tiny banana chip that got tossed in a normal old fashioned (no joke, see pics) The prices on each of the items are also way too high for what it is. And the amount of food they give you is like ordering a side dish. You could get better bang for your buck at a food truck, and I'd argue that you can probably get better tasting food at a food truck too It's not even about the amount of food. If the quality was good, the price can be justified, but just because a waiter tells you how to dip your food in the sauces that it comes in, doesn't make it "fancy" You can tell this place loves their fish sauce, cause that's the only flavor you're going to get here Dessert was an absolute joke. I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth.
