Several people had recommended this place so I was excited to try it out. It wasn't what I expected. If Burger King's Whopper and McDonalds Big Mac had a happy marriage, it would be the burger I had. Let me say it this way. If McDonald's or Burger King were a car, they'd be a base model sedan. Let's call WeeBees the LX model of the same car. It looks better, it has a few more bells and whistles, it tastes a little better, but it's still basically the same. The hamburger patty didn't strike me as a superb meat. The chopped lettuce and "special sauce" reminded me of a Big Mac. Still, the roll was fresh and soft and a good size. The fries were okay as well. They struck me as soft, almost soggy. I really like that they offer buffalo burgers and have homemade buns. I do not like the wait or customer service. Each time I go the wait is long even if it's just your order. But I thought good food takes good time? Not when they forget items in your order. I have gone a few other times with no items added to the order even though they have repeated it back confirming then once I ask why it's not in my order and get a response, "we didn't add it to your order." I'm sorry Anchorage, I just don't get why this place seems to have a cult following. I ordered a kids cheeseburger meal because I wanted a smaller portion. The burger was....adequate. Not bad. Not amazing. Nothing I'll remember in a couple days. I didn't know that it comes with the special sauce so I spent 25c on a cup of it, but thank goodness I did because the fries were lifeless without that sauce for dipping. They were warmish, not salted enough, and really floppy. The kid I was with also got the kids cheeseburger meal and got half as many fries - definitely could have turned into a sibling squabble if the second kids meal hadn't been for me! I tried one of my friend's onion rings and it was the highlight of the meal - batter on point, golden delicious, decent portion size. I can see why this place has lasted here so long. First timers, we ordered a ton of things to try. I didn't know they made their own buns (and fries it appears). The cheeseburgers were very good although a bit greasy. I split mine with my toddler and we couldn't finish it (because it was so big). We also shared chili cheese fries, plain fries and onion rings. And then, have to go in a land get the order because they are too busy being unorganized. 1 person dining inside. 1 other person in the drive through. Rude service. After the fiasco of my salad lunch at Natural Pantry yesterday, I felt the need for a bacon cheeseburger to sate my suffering appetite. Wee B's is located at the corner of O'Malley and Old Seward next to the AK Club (in case you regret coming here for a 1/2 lb. burger and a thick milkshake, plenty of treadmills are conveniently located next door). Wee B's reminds me of the locally-owned burger places that were predominant in Anchorage back in the 80's. The seating area has old-school style booths and tables with a couple of arcade games and a pinball machine to pass the time while you're waiting for your order. This type of setting might not be for everyone, but I like places like this that bring back memories as a kid especially when you have Huey Lewis and The News playing on the radio. I decided to place an order for a 1/2 lb. double bacon cheeseburger and a side of onion rings to erase the bad memory of that pitiful salad I had yesterday. This time around, lunch was a lot better food-wise and money-wise. The burger was delicious with thick cut bacon and cooked at a perfect medium with melted cheese, diced onions, lettuce, and mayo. The onion rings were also superb with the batter crisp and not crumbly as well as the entire onion not slipping out of the batter like certain places that make it where you can't even hold one without falling apart completely. All of this came up to a lot less than $15.00 for the salad I paid for yesterday. This certainly made up for the poor meal I had from the day before and Wee B's has always been a reliable place for me to get a good burger. They also serve burgers made out of buffalo or elk if you want to try something off the beaten path for a change. The buffalo burger I had was delicious on a previous visit, very similar to the ones they serve at the AK State Fair next to the midway. In addition to the burgers, they also serve rotisserie chicken and fish sandwiches, hot or BBQ chicken wings, chili cheese nachos, and milkshakes with a choice of flavors like butterscotch, blackberry, raspberry, pineapple, caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I often hear this place mentioned as a stand-out burger joint in Anchorage, but usually after mentioning a couple other spots first. It seems like it's no one's "#1" spot, but it's in the "top 5" of many. And...I have NO IDEA why! This place is fantastic! They serve a fast food-y, malts-and-fries-y type of burger. And for that type of burger, I think they may have the best in town! What I love most about this place is the location: It's located right off the hwy, right before heading into the Turnagain Arm. Perfect for when you want to spend the whole day outside but realize on the way out that you are chronically hangry and didn't bring anything with you but trailmix and water! AND they have a drive-through! I got a 1/2 lb buffalo jalapeño cheese burger. It was perfect. I think the mayo adds a ton of bonus flavor to the burgers here (not for everyone though, lots of mayo haters out there). The burger had two ¼ lb patties and a perfect mix of toppings for that satisfying burger meat/pickle-crush mouthfeel. I didn't get any fries, so I cannot vouch for them either way. I *DID* see big boxes of Idaho potatoes through the drive-through window though, so I'm betting they are pretty legit. PROTIP: don't try to drive and eat one of these burgers at the same time. If I could survive on burgers alone......I would Wee B's has a pretty fantastic burger but I would suggest dining in as the burger gets pretty soggy and messy in the bag so by the time you get to where you are going its not up to par. They have a great variety of toppings and meat which I love. The fries are real hand cut fries which many people are not used to but they keep some of the skins on and I like that as well so this place is pretty good as burgers go, not the BEST as I am still looking for that. Just FYI the owner does NOT like you to hold items off or change the burger toppings in any way and will actually tell you no if you ask to hold the pickles, or lettuce or whatever you don't like so you have to pick them off later, luckily i live my burger with EVERYTHING!! read more

I passed by this place and was intrigued by the old school drive thru appearance. I came back to check it out and ordered a 1/4 lb elk (you can also get beef or buffalo) jalapeno cheese burger (no sauce, which they say is like 1000 island), a small order of fries, and a small blackberry shake. Wow, it hit the spot! The burger was pretty good...it was hard to tell that the patty was lean, which is a good sign. The pickled jalapenos were good, but a bit overwhelming, and the cheesiness was lost. So maybe I'd go with a simple cheeseburger next time. The bun wasn't toasted, but it was soft, and I could tell that it was homemade. The fries are some of my favorite sort: darker, pieces of peel left on, and crispy. The shake was pretty good, but I got a big chunk of ice (maybe from frozen blackberries?) that kind of detracted from it. They have so many options though! Blueberry, raspberry, mocha, chocolate, peanut butter, pineapple, butterscotch. Definitely would try another shake, and would recommend the food overall. The only real downside is $16 for three items at a fast food place, but Alaska is not cheap. read more

For someone who doesnt like fast food and cant digest what McDonalds or Burger King puts out, this place is exceptional at making good quality burgers. They also bake their own bun! That in itself is half of the reason I come here. Fresh veggies on the burgers and adding cheese, mushrooms, or another extra isnt a hassle. Their burgers are fairily large as well; decently priced for what you receive. My dad and I usually share the half pound reindeer burger with mushrooms and cheese. It fills up both of us. Always loved wee bees for there buffalo burgers and how fresh the food is made to order. We did not dine in we drove thru and the service in drive thru was horrible! We were constantly asked if we're done ordering, she would rudely interrupt us after every burger we ordered, mind you it was only for 3 burgers. When she rudely asked the 3rd time if we're done ordering we said No and if she could stop being so rude! An then says uh shit! So we asked to speak to a manager an she then mocks us and says hey DESIRE THEY WANNA TALK TO A MANAGER, but she's saying it in a whiny tone. So the managers excuse for the rude service from her is because they are short staffed. I told her that's no excuse, we're the only ones here and no one's dining in. They had about 3-4 of them in there working, an she was rudely brushing us off to not order 3 burgers!. Service there is so horrible, I will never go there again. This place has gone down hill since the owner passed. My Bacon Burger had to have been made in advance. I drove down the road 5 minutes and it was already cold. The onion rings were piping hot. Which was great except they were cooked in old oil.. like it stunk and the onion rings... I ended up throwing them away along with the burger. Won't be going back. I could have gotten that quality of food from the Burger King on Penland Parkway. I gave them a two because of good meet and greet and food hand off... my burger also had a package of salt stuck to the cheese... an indication no care for the product. We just moved here in August and found Weee Bs. The first time we loved the burgers and fries. It did take a little bit of time but was worth it. We came a second time and it still took a while but was good. This third time to put it mildly sucked. Burgers were over cooked, shake orders wrong and not really shakes more like runny ice cream and the meal took forever. The server moved slower than a turtle and there were only 3 workers. If I were the owner I'd think twice about who I hire. We saw two customers leave because wait was tooloony and another almost ask for a refund because their order sat on the warmer for a good 5 minutes before we found told the server to take care of it before taking our order. We spent almost $40 for two burgers with onion rings (sysco bagged onion rings mind you), a large soda and a child sized milkshake. $40!! We finally got home to eat and my husband's burger had a long brown hair in it. I'm a red head and my husband is bald. For $40 he decided to pull the hair and try to at least enjoy his food. This place is a decent little burger joint. Menu is limited but there's enough choice to make a good meal. Also offers shakes, floats, smoothies and cones, but we were too full to indulge in any of those. The buns were excellent on the burgers and the fries were delicious and homemade (I think lol). We also ordered onion rings (average), chili dog (really good) and a chicken nugget kids meal. The nuggets were really good in the meal. The kids meals size was perfect for my 8 year old boy and it came w a big ol cup of milk. My son also left with a .50 bag of popcorn which made his evening.
