    German pork knuckle
    Will M.

I've been eating here more often recently because I've been busy moving, and by the time I finish for the day it's usually pretty late. One of the reasons I keep coming back is that they're open until 1am, which is a lifesaver when most places around the area are already closed. They mainly serve Cantonese cafe style food, and so far I've tried quite a few items including the pork chop and chicken steak with scallion oil, salt and pepper chicken wings, scrambled egg and beef rice, scrambled egg beef chow fun, beef stew noodles, curry dishes, bitter melon with beef, German pork knuckle, and of course the lemon tea. Overall, the food is pretty decent. The chicken wings are good, and I really enjoy the scrambled egg beef chow fun. The chicken steak is another favorite with crispy skin and juicy meat. I was also pleasantly surprised by the German pork knuckle. The only complaint I have is that some menu items seem to sell out fairly often. We went twice in a row looking for the same dish and it was unavailable both times. Other than that, everything we've had has been solid. It feels more like a local neighborhood spot than a trendy destination, but sometimes those are the places you end up returning to the most. I'll definitely be back.

    Dirty water glass

The place lacks maintenance. Water glasses are old and dirty. The food is ok and price reasonable. So this is one of those Chinese restaurants where you come for the food but not for the setting or atmosphere. Not a place to meet with friends.

I haven't been to WeChat Cafe for a long time. Today I am back to try the afternoon tea. And I found out it has another special rice dish. For $8.99, the baked pork chop rice is delicious. The sauce has a balanced flavor, and they didn't skip on the pork chop. As you can see in the photo, there was a bunch of pork chop meat. Service is okay, and it is a great value.

You absolutely get what you pay for and then some at this WeCafe. I don't understand the name but let's Chat about the food! Man that barbecue pork rice and the Thai basil minced pork was fire! I enjoyed every bite of both. The service was meh but that's exactly what I expected when I stepped into this restaurant. It's true to culture. Less words more food. lol if you're looking for a hardy delicious meal for a great price I suggest you stop by. We heard about this place from social media. When I stepped into the restaurant I felt like I was in another country. The smell, the decor, and patrons let me know I was about get some good eating! Stop by and get yours. You're losing money if you don't go. Lol

The pork rice with eggs is so good. You can't get this somewhere else. They homemade it themselves with special recipes. It comes with two eggs too. Their price is so reasonable and very affordable. Their service is very nice and friendly. Alan is the best and very professional. The restaurant with TV and we just watched World Cup here. Thank you Alan! My daughter and grandma love it. You are the best! Highly recommended.

When I say this is an authentic Chinese restaurant, I mean authentic. They still using plastic water cup. Which is not a dig. But also wouldn't be too bad if they upgraded a little bit to modern times? As far as their food goes, I saw that they had a little lunch special from my Facebook group that I am in- so I decided to stop by. Definitely did not disappoint. A fresh crispy fried egg on top of both dishes? 10/10. We didn't get to finish both dishes because the portion was big, and when we took it home and reheated it? It was even better. Not bad for $8 to $10. The customer service is very typical for your everyday Asian restaurant. Do not expect too much. I really do believe, that good food doesn't necessarily come with good service. Especially for Asian restaurants. The ambience itself is very Asian. They offer booth and chairs. I can tell they have loyal customers who come here to enjoy family style meals.

WeChat Cafe has been promoting the special n it's very attractive ... the Char Siu roasted BBQ pork was delicious n tasty, half fat half lean!!! Mixed with sunny side up eggs n Choy sum vegetables... with rice!! Look good n delicious!!! However, the services level was still not up there n waiting time was too long due to their inventory control are fairly not consistently... hope they can improve... I was waiting 25mins for my foods...

This is actually the first time I've ever left a 1-star review for a restaurant. I normally don't leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt I had to share it. We ordered the Scallion Oil Poached Chicken Leg over Rice and the Minced Pork Rice. The poached chicken had a strong unpleasant odor that made it very difficult to eat. It was extremely overcooked, falling apart, and the texture was nothing like good poached chicken. The scallion oil was overloaded with green onions and was surprisingly spicy, which completely overpowered the dish. The minced pork rice was just as disappointing. It was almost entirely fatty pork with barely any lean meat. The rice had almost no flavor except grease. Even my daughter couldn't finish it because it was so greasy. We ended up throwing most of the food away. I've eaten at many restaurants over the years, and this was honestly one of the worst meals I've ever had. I sincerely hope the restaurant pays more attention to its food quality, but unfortunately, we will not be returning.

I can't believe the BBQ pork rice is only $8.99. The char siu was juicy and flavorful, especially mixed with the runny egg and rice. I also loved the steamed pork patty rice, super tender and comforting. The baked mussels and fermented tofu lettuce were delicious too. Great prices, generous portions, and everything tasted so satisfying. Definitely coming back!

Ambien is a hole on the wall. Service is friendly, price is very cheap and the food was great. We ordered everything from the special menu and it is served all day. Definitely will come back with friends.

    AC is only a decoration

It has been years that WeChat did not turn on the AC, and even when it's in the summer with over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, it literally felt like eating in an oven. Never again!

First time at Boston Lobster on Lower Azusa Road and I was impressed!…read more I went with my son for a one-year-old's birthday party and somehow managed to arrive an HOUR late ‍. Thankfully, they were incredibly gracious and accommodating when we showed up. The food is served family style, so we got to sample a little bit of everything. The filet mignon medallions were delectable--tender, flavorful, and perfectly marinated. And the Lobster Noodles! This was my first time trying them and they absolutely delivered. The lobster was cut and fried in a way that made the meat tucked inside the shell really easy to get to, which made the whole experience so enjoyable. And that gravy... I was literally sucking on the lobster shell trying to get every last bit. So, so good. We also had a stir-fried green vegetable--possibly watercress--and it was delicious. Simple, savory, and cooked just right. I loved having something fresh and green alongside all the richer dishes. Great food, warm service, and such a fun meal to share with a group. I'll definitely be back.

The service is still great, the restaurant itself is decently clean and spacious. Sadly, the food just wasn't up to the standards I remember. Salt & Pepper Shrimp 3/10 - Poorly seasoned and lacking the crispiness I was expecting. The shrimp just didn't have much going for it. Mongolian Beef 4/10 - This was basically steamed beef with green onions. The dish lacked the caramelized, savory flavor I typically associate with Mongolian beef. Clams with Basil 5/10 - The flavor was decent, but the clams did not taste particularly fresh, which really took away from the dish. Pan-Fried Pork 2/10 - Unfortunately, this was my least favorite. The pork didn't taste fresh, and the texture made it feel like it had been fried twice. The normally flavorful sauce it came with was also extremely bland. I'm actually very glad I came during lunch and paid lunch prices for these dishes. If I had paid dinner prices, I would have been extremely disappointed. The food from my previous visits weren't extraordinary, but at least it was "okay". However, after this visit, I have officially taken this restaurant off my rotation. I won't be returning.

They were perfectly crispy on the outside, had lots of filling inside, and came with 6 big pieces. It also had a side of veggies and fish sauce, which I love using to wrap my egg rolls. The golden delight pho had rare meat and noodles to the side, while the other toppings came inside the sizzling pot of broth. It had lots of noodles and toppings: tripe, rare beef, tendon, meat balls, and brisket. Pho was really rich in flavor. I also loved that the sizzling pots kept the broth hot the whole time. Noodles were also very bouncy, loved the texture. Beef short ribs were also very tender and full of flavor. Although it was very busy during a Tuesday lunch hour, the waiters sat us asap. The restaurant was pretty full but the food still came out really quick. Servers were really nice and attentive. They checked on us a few times. The restaurant has lots of tables and it was clean. Okay so I'll be the first to admit -- this place has been sitting right under my nose for who knows…read morehow long and somehow I never made it in. Honestly? Embarrassing. Moving on. So yeah, it's another Vietnamese spot in Rosemead. And before you say anything -- yes, it's a pho review. Again. Look, I don't make the rules, I just eat the soup. This place does something a little different though. Their thing is the earth stone bowl -- basically a heated stone bowl that keeps your broth stupid hot while all your toppings come on the side in separate little dishes. Cool concept, very extra, I respect the commitment. But here's the thing -- it was hot outside. Like uncomfortably, aggressively, why-am-I-outside hot. So sweating over a volcanic bowl of soup wasn't exactly on my agenda. I went with the regular bowl, picked two types of beef and tendon, and called it a day. First sip of the broth and I genuinely had to put the spoon down for a second. Not in a dramatic way -- just in a "okay, this is actually really good" kind of way. It holds up against every other spot I've been to, no question. But what got me was the flavor -- there's something subtle going on in there that's hard to put your finger on but impossible to ignore. The kind of broth that just works and doesn't need to explain itself. The toppings were solid, but the tendon was lowkey the highlight. Soft, chewy, not rubbery -- exactly what you want. Some places fumble the tendon. These guys didn't. Iced tea on the side, Saturday afternoon, nothing else going on -- honestly doesn't get much better than that. Should've come here sooner. My loss.
