This review is for take-out only, I didn't get served in the restaurant (the restaurant itself felt cramped and uncomfortable - staff seemed hectic and it was overall not a nice experience waiting for my food inside) I really enjoy this pizza. The crust is great and fairly thin, the cheese is so oozy and gooey, and the sauce tastes semi-sweet! I had the walk the flank pizza sandwich - I don't know why anyone hasn't thought of it yet! Definitely my favorite steak sandwich ever. The yogurt sauce it comes with is delicious, the steak is actually cooked med-rare(ish) and tasted extremely quality, the romaine they use is super crunchy and fresh. My only complaint would be to please put half cut cherry tomatoes in it so you get more tomato, instead of having 3 regular slices that you have to cut. All in all super delicious and I cant wait to come back!! read more

Three stars for the pizza and grub, but if you are looking for a nice local place to host a pizza get together, then Waypoint Pizza could be considered a 4 star spot, with their large, colorful nautical backroom, which can be reserved for larger (about 20 people) parties. The beachy surf shop decor at this restaurant is adorable and the owner came back at the end of the function to thank us for our business, which is always nice. We came here for a pizza party, and found the backroom a good spot for a larger group (15-20) with a long planked picnic table, turquoise decor, clean, with a casual upscale feel. The one disconnect for me (and something I would seriously consider before hosting here) is that because we wanted separate family checks for several in our party, each family in our party was required to separately cue up and wait in the front of the restaurant in a long line, to order food and then retire to the backroom to wait for it to arrive at the table. As a result, when food arrived, the servers had a lot of confusion who to give the food to. And were they expecting us to stand again in that 20 minute line to get a second glass of wine? A business really doesn't benefit from making it hard for a customer to get a dessert or a second drink. Having hosted many private events, its always easier if a business sends the staff back to take orders for a larger party. Having to wait in a long line far away from your party takes you away from the action, the people you want to spend time with, and certainly takes away from the group party experience, let alone doing it twice in one evening. Overall, we'll probably be back. I do hope this business will consider how to make ordering easier for larger parties utilizing their back room, as that would make coming here more attractive to local groups who are bringing in considerable business and want to spend their time visiting, rather than standing in a line. read more

My favorite freshly baked pizza! I like the realness and simplicity of the environment.

Wandered in after a long day on Angel Island. Seemed cute at first. We were a group of six and bought a pitcher of beer. Then we stood in line and made our orders. The last person in our group to order got her slice ten minutes before anyone else. My food had yet to come out 15 minutes after everyone else had been served. The place was quiet so I went to ask about my food and the lady behind the counter rolled her eyes at me. Something I haven't experienced in a while... I guess in Oakland teenagers actually need their jobs tho. We had to remind them to serve us the desserts we had already paid for. The owner told the cook "uno mas dessert" Food was mediocre at best, their dough has no flavor and the pasta was greasy. The cookie was sad and burnt Owner was on hand but didn't seem to care about our poor experience. She should find a good general manager to get this place in shape. In my imagination she is a lonely Tiburon heiress with no management skills trying to make her dream of owning a pizza joint come true. You can't do it alone! It's hard to come across any pizza in the Bay Area that's not Neapolitan or mass trash pizza. I was looking for something fast and simply decent when I walked by here and decided to give it a try. I have grown up going to this place and have been ordering delivery least once a week since I was little. However this place has gone straight downhill after the new owners. They do not know how to properly run a restaurant! They are constantly messing up and have soggy pizza. Even when I call back and try to politely explain what happened the owner and employees argue with me and call the mistakes my fault... not appropriate. I have given them a number of chances because I work at a restaurant and know many of the difficulties, but it looks as if they do not care. An updated review is unfortunate. I was a local and regular customer for about 10 years when suddenly something changed. The last few months that I ordered pizzas here (1-2x per week) I received almost every pizza extremely burnt, a pizza with undercooked chicken, and noticed that the prices went up. Once I ordered a pizza with sausage and avocado and onion- I realized once I took it home that there were 2 half pieces of sausage and 3 small pieces of avocado. I paid extra for that? Upon speaking to people around town I heard that there was now new management. The new owners hiked up the prices, which sucks, but apparently, they also cut the wages of ALL employees- leaving some to have to look for jobs elsewhere. absurd. I do not plan on coming back. This was an unfortunate choice but I truly cannot eat these burnt pizzas anymore. The new owners of Waypoint ruined this restaurant for me. read more

Most places on Main Street are overpriced, but we actually found things here to be fairly priced. It's a nice family spot - after all, everyone loves a good slice of pizza. We had the shrimp and pesto pizza and penne pasta. While the thin crust pizza was pretty good, the penne pasta was extremely bland and boring. Honestly, so bland that it escapes my memory what was in it. I only remember having nothing but pepper to season it. Trust me, don't get that penne pasta, whatever it was. Someone here mentioned that the carrot soup is amazing. I think I'll have to try that next time, and maybe that might just up my rating. read more

I took my kids to see The Lego Movie (great movie BTW!) across the street at the Tiburon Playhouse (love the seats there!) We got out of the movie around dinner time and we all wanted pizza. We're all hungry and I'm thinking it would be quick to grab a pizza at Waypoint and go home. Bad idea. Walked in when the place was half empty, ordered a large pizza to go and sat at the bar with the kids watching the Olympics. I've worked at pizza joints so I know exactly how long it should take to crank out a to-go pizza when you're not busy. 20 minutes later it stats getting busy and I ask one of kids working there if he can check on my order and after a blank stare and awkward pause he says he says 'yes' and disappears. Fast forward to 45 minutes after I ordered. I'm not sure if they never made my pizza after I first ordered it or if it's been done for a halfhour and is sitting on the counter getting cold. Either way they've now had time to recover and when I ask again to check on the pizza I get another blank stare. We finally get our pizza. It's cold. After taking it home and warming it up it turns out to be pretty average which makes me wish I'd gone to the store, bought fixings and made my own pizza. This was a one-star experience but I'm giving two stars here in an effort to be encouraging. I live nearby and would love for this place to improve and become a functional place to get a bite to eat. read more

Delivery SCAM ALERT!!!! I would not have written this review if Waypoint would have done the right thing... they didn't. We ordered ONE Pizza and four cans of Coke for delivery. All in all $27.50 incl tax. Guy shows up 50 minutes later, my wife (ASIAN) opens the door and he is asking for $44,-- not even blinking an eye. I come down the stairs and ask "HOW MUCH????". He tells me less convincing that the pizza is 15.50 and one Coke is $2.50 plus tax = $44,-- I told him that that's not going to happened and I want to see a receipt. He'd to go to the car to get it and it showed $41,-- Now my alarm is up and I check: 2 gourmet pizza $31,-- 4 coke ($2.00) 8,-- tax 41,-- He wanted to charge me $2.50 for a coke and Waypoint wanted to charge me twice for the pizza!!!! So he is embarrassed because he has been caught and tells me to just take off 15.50. Where did the guy graduate??? SO I call Waypoint to figure out how much I REALLY owe, $27,50 NOT $44 or $41 or something close to something. The guy on the phone apologized. Here is the point, both of them try to screw the wrong guy. Hell, it's Tiburon. How many order for delivery and do not check or even care how much they pay. Looks like you ARE GETTING SCREWED BY WAYPOINT PIZZA. My take on this is, I will have my kid get a job there and pay that way for his school. I called in again, and the same guy who takes the order took my complaint and told me he will "talk to the guy". NO MY FRIEND, THAT'S"S NOT THE WAY IT WORKS. YOU GUYS WILL CONTINUE THIS PRACTICE WITHOUT EVEN TAKE A BREAK. The pizza was "OK" BTW. Waypoint, don't call me or offer free pizza for the rest of the year. I don't like to get the flu,, mmmkey? Shrimp pasta with garlic and basil (~$9): A+ YES WOW I was surprised at how good it was since I've rarely had a good plain pasta. The shrimp and sauce had lots of butter but well seasoned. Not cheap with shrimp either. Came with 2 pieces of bread. Vegetarian pizza bread thing ($10.75): A. Huge ass sandwich with broccoli, eggplant, spinach, squash. You have to eat it like a really big taco. Sauce was vinegar-y. My bf liked it a lot, but I thought it could've used a bit more salt. Nice hostess person. What a sweetie read more

I have celiac disease. The so-called gluten-free pizza made me very ill. Because waypoint advertises gluten-free pizza, I walked in. I ordered a gluten-free pizza from the chalkboard. I was never told that it isn't actually 100% gluten-free, nor were there any such advisories on the board. This is a very irresponsible business practice that is harmful to customers with serious allergies or Celiac disease. My husband had the pizza tested in a lab. It came back with a reading of "High Positive" for gluten. The pizza here is NOT gluten-free. I will be getting in touch with the owners to discuss responsible marketing and labeling. read more

Do not recommend! Came here for the first time tonight because there were so few choices in Tiburon. Came in at the time they specified, then waited another 15 minutes for my food. Got my pizza and dough sticks back to my house and low and behold...it was ALL RAW! Literally, I could have rolled the dough and made a new pizza and breadsticks from it. Called to tell them I want a new pizza and dough sticks and the kid asked me if I wanted him to just cook my current pizza and dough sticks longer.... You know, the ones we already chewed and spit out after we realized it was RAW. Then we kept telling me how busy they are. I understand that, but it doesn't make it ok to undercook people's food to get things done faster. Went back and got cooked food, but was not impressed. Flavorless and boring. Pleasantly surprised I am picky with pizza and live in NYC where I find most of the pizza to be awful and when I was taken here because it is my niece's favorite place I was prepared to have some pretty bad pizza. Tuned out to be pretty good. I loved the way they cut the pie into small narrow slices. We got a large regular. I thought the crust was pretty delicious - soft, tasty and cooked to perfection. Now if they had a real flavorful sauce and added A LOT more of it and used a higher quality cheese this would have been an excellent pie. My guess is they do so much business here with all the kids that they don't really care to add more of a flavorful sauce or cheese. This pie gets them by and it's priced high! read more

This place is a treasure! Friendly and prompt service, reasonable prices, a comfortable casual setting, and DELICIOUS food! The pizza is excellent: perfect crust, well seasoned sauce and fresh toppings cooked just right. I love their salads, they have terrific beverage options and fabulous desserts. ( My favorite: the Strauss Creamery organic soft-serve cone. This is a single visit review. We wanted pizza, and our local Round Table closed down a while back, so we decided to give Waypoint a try. Very good pie! Thin and tasty crust , nicely blistered, with tasty toppings. Also like the sailing themed photos and art, which was genuine and local (example: great action shot from America's Cup here in 2013 showing Luna Rosa flying with both hulls of of the water.) Mediocre service, but I'm not terribly bothered by that. I'll be back for sure when the pizza urge strikes again. read more

I've only been to Tiburon maybe four times and this place definitely wasn't here the last time. We were glad to see it because the vicinity was crowded due to a car show going on and we were happy to be able to get a table for 6. We ordered two large pizzas, one pepperoni and one pepperoni and sausage, along with a pitcher of beer. I think the total tab was something like $60, pretty good for all of us to eat considering the neighborhood and proximity to multi-million dollar homes, not to mention the water (no outdoor seating or view, by the way, but it is *right there*). Oh, and the pizza was pretty good, too. Bottom line: A good place to grab a casual meal if you're in the neighborhood. If I lived here, I'd probably be a regular. Although I might also be a rich snob and look down on people who have pizza and beer for lunch. read more

This is some of the worst pizza I've ever had. I know this and yet I still came here. I walk by this place several times a week and avoid it religiously. I went there today because I was hungry, with slight trepidation but hoping against hope that it had gotten better. It hasn't. I think it's gotten worse. Bland bland and more bland. The soggy crust is only enhanced by its cardboard-like edges. The cheese is a goo that might, maybe, possibly be real. The sauce: void of taste. I think there's tomato in there... And the toppings....I had sausage and mushrooms. I've no idea what the sausage could possibly be. I'm not even sure it's meat. The most boring of mushrooms, if there is such a thing. I think the problem is that these people have been here for years and because they are a family run operation in a small insular and protective town, nobody has ever told them how horrid their food is. And they are the only pizza place in town. And now because Round Table is no longer in Strawberry, there is literally no competition within 10 miles. If the proprietor reads this, do us all a favor and take a good close look at your operation. It is arrogance and laziness that keeps mediocrity, or worse, abhorrence as a standard. read more

This place had cute decor and some interesting pizza flavors. Our service was pretty good, and the ingredients were fresh and ripe. Prices are pretty good, especially for the sandwiches and the mini pizzas. Everyone was happy with their food. I thought the sauce was a little bland, but I spiced it up with some dried pepper. I had the Southwestern pizza; thought they could have jazzed it up a bit, but the smoked sausage was a great and somewhat unexpected addition. We were all happy when we left. I was on my bike and wanted a casual light meal. They had a sign saying "slices" so I went in. I saw the special pizza was butternut squash, arugula, goat cheese, and parmesan. I asked if I could get a slice of the special and the guy was a little flummoxed and had to consult with the other guy (who was on his lunch break). So I asked, "what kind of slices do you have" and they explained that you can order almost anything as a slice except for some things like chicken and meatballs. It's explained on the back of the menu but I only saw the large menu. Being thoroughly overwhelmed by the choices, I was relieved when they said I could get the special as a slice but it would have tomato sauce. Cost was $5. I pretty much expected a warmed up slice of withered and leathery pizza since that's what you get when you order slices, and moreover this was in a tourist town on the main tourist drag. And it was in the middle of the day. Imagine my surprise when this guy comes out with a box big enough to accommodate a "personal" pizza, and inside the pizza is fresh and tasty and obviously made to order. It was very delicious and kept me going the rest of the way around the Paradise loop. If I was not headed back out on the bike, I would have tried the pizza sandwich, which looks very tasty. read more

Downtown Tiburon is absolutely adorable, but what really makes it a true enjoyable experience is their locally owned restaurants such as Waypoint Pizza. I'll cut to the chase: BETWEEN THE SHEETS. Seriously. This great "fold over your pizza to form a modern taco" totally reminds me of East Coast pizza food faire. What my friends and I did: We ordered each of the "Between The Sheets" food offerings and split each one into 4's. This way we could share and taste a range of items. If there was one thing that disappointed though it was their pesto pasta, which I was shocked because the flavors were so clear and tasty for their BTS but unbelievably bland for their pesto pasta. Maybe next time I'll opt for their shrimp pasta instead! My suggestions: The Thai and BBQ Between The Sheets (BTS) stylings. Absolutely delicious. The peanut sauce in the Thai BTS was spicy and had a great creamy peanut kick. The BBQ BTS flavoring was on point but made more special with the addition of corn! Random note: Their bathroom with the automatic sliding door is pretty cool. Because of the decorations in the retaurant it gives you the feeling you are on a boat! =) read more

I am a fan of Waypoint. I grew up in Tiburon, but when I was a kid we had to go out to Strawberry to get Round Table (and we thought that was good). I just moved back to Tibs with my girlfriend and our 3 kids, and we LOVE Waypoint. Good toppings, and the crust is thin and tasty. I recommend it. read more

Service not the greatest, but maybe because I came in right before they were going to close. I tried ordering a Thai Chicken, but I guess they were out?! Then the girl at the front informed me that they only had pesto sauce, no tomato. That was okay so I got a Veggie slice, but I guess she quickly decided that they didn't have pesto either, just tomato sauce. I just went with that and ordered a Veggie slice w/ tomato sauce. I sat down and the pizza was brought to my table. It was a huge slice, the veggies looked fresh, consisted of zucchini, tomatoes, onions, & eggplants. I had to add a good amount of red pepper flakes & parmesan cheese for additional flavor, but it was a healthy slice for sure. read more

A great spot when you get off the boat in Tiburon. As a matter of fact, I would go here right off the boat, grab a beer or two (they have good stuff), and if you are looking for an inexpensive bite, grab a slice of pizza, which is NY style and really good. Would have to think that I will return. A quick lunch for two, with one slice, a salad, two beers and a soft drink was $30. An excellent value, and again, a good beer selection. read more
