Personally, I don't think this hotel is worth over $300 a night. The room price varies depending upon the day of week or weekend. I've heard the rates on the weekend are $400 to $700 a night. RIDICULOUS prices in my opinion. I found the beds and pillows very soft and uncomfortable. The rooms are very dark due to the hotels theme of a hunting lodge. My room's window screen was missing so we couldn't ventilate our room with fresh Bishop air. The television in this room was old and the picture was grainy, in addition to the lack of cable tv stations. The MAIN reason why I gave TWO stars was due to the exorbitant pricing of their carbonated water at the front desk. $5.44 for a 16 ounce bottle. My son wanted one too, so $10.88 for carbonated water?!UNBELIEVABLE!!! I must say the swimming pool was very nice. The pool towels are located in the top dresser drawer in the room and PLEASE don't accidentally take one home, otherwise they'll charge you $20 for the towel!!! The breakfast in the morning was very tasty and there were so many items to choose from. I'm truly sorry my review can't be more positive. There are so many items that need attention. Wayfinder Bishop has officially become part of my family's annual spring break WORKATION tradition. I come out to Bishop for work every spring, and over time this has become our go-to stay when I bring the family along. It's the perfect mix of work trip during the day and family getaway after hours. The property itself is beautiful. The lobby has a warm upscale mountain lodge feel with high ceilings, rich wood finishes, cozy lighting, and a really inviting atmosphere the moment you walk in. It feels much nicer and more thoughtfully designed than your typical hotel stop in a small mountain town. The courtyard with the pond and fire pit is such a nice touch and makes the whole place feel peaceful and relaxing after a long day. The breakfast/lounge area was clean and well kept, and overall the property feels family-friendly, comfortable, and well maintained. Location is also excellent if you're using Bishop as a base for Mammoth, the Eastern Sierra, or just exploring with the family after work. At this point, Wayfinder Bishop has become more than just a hotel for us -- it's part of our annual spring break memories. Would definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed here passing through while the pass was closed due to snow. Picked this place for the theme. Yes it's more expensive, but what a great stay we had. I hate boring hotels that all look the same. This one had a warm welcome to it. We stayed on Christmas Day, wasn't too busy. After a long drive we got hungry and decided to try the food. We ordered the bbq chicken pizza and it was AMAZING! We were shocked! Best pizza I've honestly ever had. The staff here was so friendly and welcoming, Raven at the front checked us in. Gave us all the tips we needed for our stay. The lady working the bar/food was also so amazing, can't remember her name but she was on top of how many people were in the lounge area. Overall would definitely stay here again, in fact we are planning on making this our go to for the area. Well worth the money. read more

Wayfinder is a great little hotel in Bishop. It has a woodsy mountain decor. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The laundry room on the second floor is very nice with ample space and comfortable chairs to sit and wait for the clothes to finish. (See pic) We pulled into town at midnight as we were passing through and were happy to find this gem! We had a room that overlooked the stream that runs through the property. They offer a continental breakfast in the morning. It looked ok, but we opted for steak and eggs down the road. I bet this place is packed during the summer with all the outdoor activities in the area. We would definitely plan on staying here again. Cheers! read more

This was such a gem! Located right on the main road through town(395). The property is absolutely beautiful. It comes off as a resort rather than a rural town hotel. Everything is very clearly planned out and intentional. I loved all the details. The halls are lined with local photographers photos. The leather bound guide book provided in the room was perfect - clean layout, very concise relevant info. All of the lamps were on theme. The room itself was very comfortable. I highly appreciated the charging block on the bedside which had room for 4+ usb as well as standard plugs. The shower was glorious with incredible water pressure. The provided soap/shampoo/conditioner were quality. The towels were thicker than standard hotels. The rooms come with a sliding patio door. This worked out so well for us being on the first floor we could very easily load items in and out - considering all the hiking and schlepping we had done before our stay here made this very very nice. Perhaps the best part - the creek running through the property! This for me was such a standout. There are ample chairs (which are very comfortable) with fire pits. The surrounding lavender bushes add to the beauty and resort style setting. The pool, hot tub, and sauna are located across the bridge over the creek. I really appreciated that this was more of a standard pool size rather than a 3-4 foot small pool. We really enjoyed cooling off in the pool followed by a session in the hot tub with the jets. This is truly just what we needed after some extensive hikes in the sierras. They serve a hot breakfast in the dining area to the left of the lobby, which was quite good. I appreciated the fresh fruit available and the very comfortable dining room seating. Can't wait to stay here again on another trip! read more

If I could give 0 Stars I would . After last night we will never say here again . First time was great experience came back got a room that had a stench so bad it was worse in our room but extended to the back hall of the hotel . The floors were dirty my kids feet turned black within a few minutes of walking around. Overall disappointing in the service and the staff care . Also tried to call front desk multiple times no answer had to walk back out to the front desk just to express how unhappy we were. Maid staff said she smelt what we did in the hall. The most they could do is give us $25 dollars off. Mind you my son woke up sick and throwing up made them aware and yet they did nothing else for us. Not to mention parking accommodations for towing or bigger vehicles isn't easy. read more

We stay there 1-2/year and love it every time. The rooms are large and have everything. Beds comfortable. Sitting by the river during the morning or at night is added bonus. Close to everything (I mean bishop isn't big anyway!). Perfect place to stay while 4wheeling or heading out on long hikes in the sierras. Gwen at the front desk was so great as was each person that worked at the front. She was really helpful mailing back something to me that I left behind. I'm going to break this place down and then build it back up (kind of like the fire pit that wouldn't stay lit). The Bad (Where Do We Start?): The walls are so thin you don't need to people-watch--you can just people-hear. You'll know when your neighbors came back from fishing, how many beers they had, and exactly what time they set their alarms for a 5 a.m. checkout. Who needs white noise when you've got the elevator serenade? At the pool, there's no shower to rinse off before hopping in, which is a bold move considering there's a sauna right there. Nothing says "relaxing swim" like watching six sweaty dudes, dripping head to toe like human sprinklers, cannonball into the pool. The TVs? Locked down harder than Area 51. Forget your Fire Stick--you'll be lucky if you can find The Weather Channel. It's like they want to remind you of a simpler time when tv had 13 channels or Netflix was just DVDs in the mail. The "mini-fridge" deserves quotes, because it's basically a lukewarm storage box. Perfect if you like your drinks "slightly cooler than the room." And the fire pit... oh, the fire pit. The crown jewel that wasn't. We tried to enjoy it, but it kept shutting off every 5-6 minutes. The staff came out like fire pit paramedics, relighting it until eventually we gave up and retreated inside, smelling faintly of propane and disappointment. For the price of these rooms, I expected comfort, not a nightly battle with an unreliable campfire. The Good (Why You Might Still Stay Anyway): Here's the kicker: this is probably the nicest property in Bishop. It's got rustic charm, a sweet little stream running through the grounds, and when the fire pit actually works, it's Instagram gold. There's a small bar inside, breakfast is included, with self waffle maker and the whole place has that rustic vibe that tricks you into forgiving half the nonsense. The Verdict: Wayfinder is like that friend who looks amazing on Instagram but in real life forgets to bring snacks, loses the car keys, and then makes you sleep on an air mattress. The bones are good. The vibe is there. But until they fix the fire pit, unchain the TVs, install a pool shower, get some real fridges, and--please--add some soundproofing, it's rustic in theory, it for the price maybe expect a little more. Set thermostat anywhere from 60-67, room stayed at 71 even in 30-degree winter weather. Too warm to sleep comfortably. Breakfast downgraded significantly--only scrambled eggs were decent. Everything else tasted like reheated frozen mush. Watered-down coffee. Eat elsewhere. TV locked on low-def coaxial input. To switch to HDMI requires borrowing one of 5 special remotes from front desk (tracked on clipboard). Sandpaper towels. Too-dark lighting with dark painted walls and ceilings. Overall the hotel is lovely - my wife and I will stay again for the creek and comfy bed alone. That said, they charge well above market rates for Bishop so I will hold them to the standards I've come to expect from the Hyatt hotels I normally stay in. Staffing was a persistent issue. (1) At check in I walked in to find a lady also waiting at the front desk with nobody around. We waited 10-15 minutes for someone to show up..because another guest had a request that required the front desk to step away? What?? At check out, yet again there was nobody at the desk. (2) My wife and I were so excited to have dinner and drinks at your bar/restaurant. Except how could we when nobody was there? We got to the bar and only one lady was sitting there waiting on her food. 15 minutes go by and 3-4 other couples join us in waiting. Lady at the bar mentions the bartender is also the cook so we're waiting on the bartender to make her pizzas? WTF. Really disappointed as we were excited to have many beers and a pizza creekside but not if it meant waiting absurd amounts of time between orders. Ended up ordering Chinese takeout and having drinks in the room. Breakfast could be improved. Eggs were lukewarm, other patrons were taking so long to select a plate I was confused until I went to get one myself and realized a decent number of them had egg residue on them. Why no fruit? Coffee was good though. Lastly, if I'm already paying near $500 for a room...just add the $25 to the room rate. A "resort fee" at a non-resort property comes across as a "f-you because I can" fee. I hope you guys can improve the staffing, breakfast quality and at the very least consider changing your "resort" fee policy to bundle it in the room rate. It's a cute property and my wife and I will stay again...just know that there's potential for Wayfinder Bishop to do even better. read more

We had a great stay and the location was worth the cost. Major plus that they are pet friendly, it is an extra $50 for the pet fee. It's right next to Schats bakery, across the street from the park and walking distance into town with the other shops. Room was nice, we liked the balcony so it was great to have my dog be able to sit outside and we got some crisp fresh air into the room. We stayed at the Wayfinder Hotel in Bishop for one night and really enjoyed our experience. The location is excellent--convenient and scenic--and the property itself is quiet and peaceful, which made for a restful stay. The amenities were great, and the bed was very comfortable, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. Everything felt clean and thoughtfully designed. The only small downside was the water pressure in the shower, which could have been stronger. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something to note. This is an excellent hotel. This is our 2nd visit. Our first visit was a couple of years ago was when it was Creekside. I'm not sure why the reviews were complaining of ownership change. Our recent vist was even more pleasant then the first time. The beds are super comfy. We had a great Kung size room on the bottom floor with sliding glass door making unloading our belongings from car parked right outside room super easy. The staff were very kind and accommodating. We enjoyed the fireside room at night with the fireplace and ambience. The breakfast is above average for hotel. Restaurants are an easy walk. The creek views walking over bridge and pathways are so relaxing and enjoyable. I would stay here everytime in Bishop. read more

I liked this place a lot better when it was Creekside Inn however they are making improvements with the new ownership change. There is also a bar with food in the evenings. The little creek they have here is a good place to sit and read your book or also to sit and have one of the fire pits going while you sip your wine and kick up your feet. The rooms are nice and the creek is beautiful, but we will likely not be back. I wrote this to the management in the survey they sent after our stay. "I have been staying at this property for about 25 years. The previous owners ran a much better, and reasonably priced establishment. Your prices are the highest in the Owens Valley. While there appears to be an effort to run a high class establishment, several things done are very low class. $50 charge for charging an EV? Really. Previous management encouraged this at no charge. $250 threat in case a robe is taken? How about "you may purchase this robe if you like". Additional charge for early check in, additional charge for late checkout, inability to reserve patio rooms, breakfast that rivals holiday inn, etc.... While there appears to be an effort to have a bougie establishment, the only thing that is bougie are the prices. The rest is low class. We will be investigating all other options in the area before staying here again." read more

We drove 8 hours from home expecting to swim, soak in the hot tub and even had reservations for the sauna. However after checking in and heading to the pool we discovered nothing works! The pool is ice cold! The hot tub is barely warm and the sauna doesn't work. When we asked the front desk about it we were told "sorry we don't have a maintenance worker on grounds." What a great find! On way to Mammoth and had to stop due to Crowley fire. Wanted something unique, more than basic budget in type place and found this on Hotel.com. So glad we took a chance. Really nicely decorated and seems fairly newer, has this wonderful creek that runs through the property, nice rooms, decent basic buffet breakfast included. Has a quaint lounge with small beer and wine bar and pizzas (not gourmet selection of anything). Has a small hot tub and pool and pretty small stand alone outdoor sauna. Person at front desk check in was really nice too. All in all solid experience. I only took a star off for no smart TV in room. That should be a given these days. read more

Adorable Creekside Hotel right next to Shat's bakery in Bishop. Your stay includes a token for half off wine or beer in the bar, plus complementary sauna for one hour. The spa was nice and hot and we enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning. The decor is beautiful throughout, with lots of rustic touches, including a real woodburning fireplace in the lobby. I had stayed here back when it was the Creekside Inn. I was anxious about staying here again under the new management/name but we gave it a shot and we were very content with our stay. I still miss the old name because the creek is the big draw for me. I had accidentally misspelled my name on my reservation so I had to try calling for days until someone picked up, but as soon as I got a hold of someone they were super helpful and able to update my reservation easily. Check-in was a breeze, the hotel is clean, and your room rate includes parking and breakfast. The beds feel like you're sleeping in a marshmallow. The rooms are dark and the lighting isn't the best, but we managed. We also noticed that the heater kicked on in the room when it was almost 90 degrees outside and we couldn't get it to turn off. We called the front desk and they helped us trouble shoot the system over the phone. I do agree with other reviewers about the price being a bit much but since our stay was so comfortable and seamless I don't mind paying for that peace of mind and comfort. We had our small dog with us and while there were a number of other dogs staying at the hotel we barely noticed them. This hotel is conveniently located across the street from City Park so it was convenient for walking our dog and of course you can't beat the landscaping, the areas by the creek and the proximity to Schat's bakery. read more

I finally hung up. The employees used to be far more accommodating when it was Creekside. .Now they don't even answer the phone. The outside of the hotel is beautiful especially with the creek and pool area and the rooms are clean. After spending $300 for a room it was very disappointing to find one of the fire pits not working. In the evening there were not enough pool towels available. The food for the morning breakfast is gross!!! The only thing edible is the waffle that you make yourself. The eggs were gross, the country gravy is way to runny, the "cooked" potatoes were not fully cooked they were still hard and a muffin wasn't completely cooked all the way through.
