Great place to camp! Clean restrooms and convenient location! Can't wait to visit again!

Frustrating service. Called to confirm my reservation for May 23 and was told they didn't have it. I confirmed with the persons name and what date I called. April 2nd. Now they said they only have a 4 day price of $160. It's not my fault that your employee didn't take the reservation correctly and you apparently don't care about honoring it either. We are returning customers and thank goodness I called to confirm or would show up this mess. Better customer service is needed especially when dealing with the manager. read more

This place use to be great until they changed staffs. Some staffs are friendly but there also one that gave people problem and hard time. When booking a camp site on the date and arrive then telling you that site you requested is not available. read more

Great place to camp... (except when we were there.. it was too hot..) The campsite is great, The Bathroom is extremely clean!..... the maintenance guy kept up pretty well to maintain the bathroom clean. The shower is clean and it's a good size shower. You do need to purchase their TOKEN... $2 for 1 Token for 7 minutes of hot water ... OR it's FREE cold water... The staff is also working very hard to keep the trash bins empty for us to use. The staff is friendly... they are a very young staff. Checking in and checking out was a breeze. You may want to make sure if you are using tents like us to camp there... ask for the shaded area and be sure to bring PLENTY of CANOPY and portable fans perhaps... The bottom line is we will come back but not in the summer time tho... Awesome place and highly recommended.... The staff person that cleans the bathroom needs to have his pay raised.. read more

Very family friendly campgrounds. Clean restrooms, clean showers, and plenty of amenities. It's borderline glamping but hey, the wife is happy and also the kids- they always want to come back! A great campground and I highly recommend. read more

The quality of any campground isn't just the services and amenities but the people running it. We were greeted with a smile at the front desk, all questions answered and requests handled. The grounds are clean, RV spots level on dirt with water and electricity at each space and a dump station at the front of the property. The park is tree covered with clean bathrooms and showers. It was $40 a night at the writing of this with an additional $5 for the dump station if you stay the night and $20 if you're just passing through. The views of the snow covered Sierra mountains are breathtaking wnd the wind through the Aspen trees are very relaxing. There is also a little general store with homemade pie, ice cream, fire wood, laundry machines, a horse shoe pit with horse shoes, green grass for your dog to walk around on and kids to play. Over all, we had a great stay. Thank you to the staff for working so hard to keep this park clean. Would definitely return. read more

What's the point of reserving a spot for pull through or not if u guys just give them away ? This is not the first time it has happen

I would absolutely recommend this place. They have grassy campsites that are comfortable and have full hook ups for your RV. I stayed with just my pickup and tent and was very comfortable on the grass. Not all sites have fire pits so ask them to drive around and look at open sites before you choose. They are old school and you have to reserve either in person or over the phone - which I think adds to the overall experience. That system insists that you interact with the staff which I think is a plus. I will absolutely try to stay at all 5 of their locations read more

We've camped here for years and love the beautiful green grass and big trees. We stay for 1 night on our way up the 395. The staff members in the store/cafe are friendly and patient but the issues is with the electric power. We have a trailer and have parked in many sites here through the years. This time (& last year) we haven't been able to run our A/C without it overloading the system and shutting everything off. This has been happening in the water/electric sites along the golf course side. Last year they seemed to deny they were having issues, yet this year it's been the same and I even overheard another person complaining that his site wasn't being powered correctly either and it ruined his outlet/cord. They acted surprised but gave him a free replacement. The issue here is that we are paying for a hook up site AND if you're traveling in the summer, are heat sensitive and expect to have electric, it's definitely unacceptable to have this happen. Someone needs to work on upgrading their electrical system or stop charging for services/amenities that aren't available. read more

Brown's Town is amazing every single time. The grounds themselves are immaculate. Dozens of dry tent camp sites, many RV sites as well, water and electric. South side of Bishop, just before you enter town. An old west feel with a museum of sorts. Plenty of space for extra curricular activities. Horse shoe pit at the west end (bring your own shoes). Bathrooms and showers. Tokens needed and can be purchased at the store. Store has some basic necessities, including firewood charcoal and the like.. Even more important, pie, ice cream and beer. Butts up against a golf course, which has a driving range as well as putting and chipping. Makes for a nice activity while camping. Of course there's tons of hiking every where and even just walking around the streets behind is nice. A drive to Bristlecone makes for a great day trip and if you've never been, I highly recommend it. Lots of grass and shade. Everyone is pretty well behaved and the employees are very nice and very responsive. I'll drive past hundreds of campgrounds from LA just to come here. Bishop is amazing and has a theater and bowling alley fairly close which adds to the experience. Great spot for biking as well. It's my Disneyland and I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Great place and plenty to around the camp. If you like fishing, you can fish at the pond near the camp or go out to Crowley Lake, Bishop Lake, Erwin River, ... If you like off road activities, there are plenty of dirt road area around the camp for mountain biking, dirt biking, arc, ... Also there are plenty of hot springs around too. Do your research before you go on a trip because there are plenty more to do around that I yet to explore. Happy camping!!! read more

Overall a decently maintained campground. Staff is friendly. Campsites come in various sizes with the options of Dry Camping, Water/Electricity and Pull-Thru (mostly dirt) sites. Lots of trees with plenty of shade (not all sites) during this time of year (spring). Bathrooms and Showers are as expected and clean enough for being a privately owned campground. Attempted to take a shower (front building) but NO HOT WATER was coming out. Called the office and the girl that came out said it should be working. She mentioned each shower works off a timer and sometimes you have to wait for it to cycle through. After spending about 40 mins going from one shower stall to another and still no hot water. Gave up and just took a bird bath in the bathroom sink. Went to the office and got a refund for the shower tokens. Convict Lake Resort has a more reliable shower system. There is NO Secure Online-Reservation system. You have to call the office and read your Personal and Credit Card Info over the phone to who knows who in order to reserve. There is plenty of Firewood available to purchase at the office for about $8 a bundle. If you are a light sleeper, the street (Schober Lane) that runs along the outside of the campground has all kinds of loud vehicles that will on occasion go up and down the street throughout the night. read more

Came to camping over the weekend nice clean spot. It's more of a RV parking type spot but you can also camp to. They got clean restrooms with clean showers. Showers are with tokens which are 25 cents for 7 minutes has hit water. The bad thing is there is no lake or river or anything in the camp site you gotta drive min 10 mins to go close by water or to even fish. Overall nice place to camp or bring a RV. read more

Beautiful campground with a golf course next-door, they water quite a bit so there is a lot of green grass; the only drawback is the water pressure for your RV is so low because of them watering. and they do forget to turn it off. Wonderful Campground to spend time with family and friends. Very close to all the essential amenities.

We absolutely loved this campground. We stopped here on the way to Mammoth after sitting in major LA traffic. The office was closed when we pulled in but I had called ahead and there were plenty of spots available. We chose a nice grassy spot on the middle that was shaded by some giant trees. Several sites have water and electric for $35 a night. Dry camping is $30 per night. Bathrooms were clean. $2 shower tokens you purchase at the office. Dump station up front for a small fee. We ended up coming back 2 days later because every campground was full near Silver Lake and surrounding areas. We will be back and stay here for sure! read more

A stop over spot at best. The good things are nice people and grass! Quiet even for a Saturday. The OK is right on highway so road noise all night. The bad were bathrooms and showers. One star rating because the girls working behind the counter are argumentive with customers. One star rating because the camp employees did not contact 2 separate groups who allowed their dogs to bark at people walking by. I was woke up by barking dogs in the morning and disrupted by barking dogs in the evening and after dark. I will never go back to this unfriendly and noisy park. read more

Nobody seems to be mentioning these extremely cursed toilet stalls with NO LATCHES?!?!? Come on guys it's like a buck at a hardware store! Unforgivable! Campground has trees and shade. Staff were lovely and nice. My site was just a corner with no picnic table which I could overlook but I really shouldn't need to get creative with a flip flop to prevent random people walking in on my private business. read more

Ou family has been coming here for over 30 years and still do an annual gathering with 4 generations. Love the trees as they rustle in the slight breeze. Campground bathrooms are always very clean. We are usually able to get all of our clan together in the same area, RV's, Trailers and tents. Great ice cream, store is pretty well stocked with essentials. Firewood also available on site. This place is a rip off. You have to pay for 7 minutes forvwarm water to shower, they know their cable doesn't work, but they still advertise that it does, you have to pay for the dump station as well. The bathrooms stink. We normally stay at Highlands RV you get full hook ups, nice clean showers. This place could be nice but they are greedy. read more

Overall it was a clean quiet campground. Only reason for not scoring higher was because our ice chest was stolen from our camp ground. After talking to a couple other people, their ice chests were also stolen for a total of 5 that we knew of. Just make sure you lock & put away all items & ice chests. read more

I love this place for what it is; simplicity. I stay here anytime I'm coming to, or through, for that matter, Bishop. Booking is straightforward and reliable, and the camp site plots are generous, by my standards. I should note I've only stayed here with a Subaru or motorcycle, never a camper or some large caravan, but the place seems to accommodate such. There are a good number of large trees that offer the aire of being slightly woodsy, but they're not giving much privacy. Still better than an open field or dirt spot. As for amenities, there's plenty. From a general store that hosts a micro restaurant, sells beer, has showers, restrooms.. well your satisfaction is going to scale with how little/ how much you like to rough it. For me, beer and a soft piece of grass is all I need after dinner. And speaking of, there are some truly decent places in town. You can grab a burger, bbq, sandwhich shop, etc. Just a note here, remember to respect the town, I don't speed over 5mph, and don't even think of risking a dui, I've seen checkpoints. I tented one night only, on my way to Yosemite. I liked it The only thing I suggest that I'll do next time, is to stay farther back, away from the entrance/exit but mostly the highway! I was about 100 yards from it, but some if the big rigs were very loud. People are nice, seems clean to me... quite dated, but for the area, dated works. read more

We have stayed at Brown's Town Campground two years now and this year (July 2-6, 2020) we were greatly disappointed. In fact, we were disgusted. The campground was busy, many more campers than last year, but in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, when they should have taken extra precautions, the restrooms were essentially unattended. NO toilet paper, morning, noon, or night. NO paper towels, morning, noon or night. Toilets FULL of excrement that would not flush! When we complained to the front office, we were dismissively thanked, but no action was taken. Dangerous, thoughtless, and careless. DO NOT STAY HERE until they take action to maintain adequate, if not minimum, health standards. read more

Browns Town is not fancy, not frilly, and not big, but I LOVE this place!! Gorgeous views, nice size spots, huge trees, and eclectic group of campers. Enjoy the tour companies bringing European tent campers in, check out the bikers that camp off their bike, or check out out the nice rigs that pull in. Close to town but far enough out to feel like you're in the country, cool store with souvenirs and a great staff. Grab a beer, an ice cream, or a piece of their famous pie and just enjoy! We stayed here for two days in our popup trailer. At first we got to our spot and had to complain about our site. It seems our neighbors, who weren't there, left their dog in their trailer and it was barking nonstop. Our new site was great and backed up against the golf course. The staff was great in taking care of us. My only complaint are the spots are jammed too close together and because of trees we couldn't use our awning. I also swore it had wi-fi, but didn't and not sure why. I can live with that. Overall it's very nice and we'd stay here again. We paid only $22 a night I think because we didn't need cable TV. Also you get tokens for the showers and that gives you 7 minutes which is enough to shower and shave. read more

Had to get out of the wind on hwy 395 and read all the positive posts for Brown's Town ! They took us in and we were very Thankful. Until I got really sick and had to go to hospital. The staff said they would move us to a site with no hookups, and we couldn't use the generator! The wind was blowing 50-80 mph! The campground was almost empty, and if the site was already reserved and nobody could drive through the wind, the campground had the campers pay up front so they lost nothing! Also we had water and electricity. The Cable didn't work! And if you have to dump it's $5.00 extra when you drive to the dump! I think they only post positive reviews so no one will ever see this, but I'll spread the word on a Facebook, and any blog I find read more

Very disappointed. We took our four grandchildren out to Brown's to get ice cream, we were celebrating the end of school, kindergarten graduation, beginning of summer etc. They have a very strict mask rule. She wouldn't even let the grandkids order ice cream without a mask, while we, the non-maskers waited outside. I can't wait until everyone is on the same page as far as the CDC guidelines.
