The camp hosts and managers were absolutely wonderful. The restrooms were kept very clean and the camp overall was well tended to. We enjoyed our stay from 5/28-5/31. We even got to grab a spot by the creek. Huge thank you to the camp manager that helped us jump start our truck!

The spots near the creek and shade have many mosquitos and some hornets. Made it hard to relax. Many spots are tiny and uneven, just be aware. Overall beautiful. E stayed in 002. Huge, shady, and many many mosquitos.

Great campground minus the hornets! We had so many at our campsite and unfortunately I don't remember which site we stayed at but they were everywhere. I like nature more than the next person & this definitely wasn't my first rodeo camping, however there were so many! They would swarm our food anytime we tried to cook anything. I ended up being stung by one on my temple and ended up swelling pretty bad from it, one antibiotic shot in the butt later all was good but I'd be aware for smaller children or doggos. I was just happy it was me rather than my pup. Park ranger said it was due to the heavy snowfall they had received last winter before the spring, so I can't speak on how it is now just wanted to make everyone aware of how it was last year. Other than that it was a gorgeous campground with lots of hiking and fishing! Happy camping y'all!

East Fork Campground. #44, stayed solo this time, 3 nights, had a great stay. I always stay in that loop of the campground... the sites in this are could use more visual separation if possible, but it's not usually crowded up there, so not a huge issue....The camp managers in that loop are really nice, welcoming people. I feel like they have an eye out for me and my family every time I go up there. They also do an amazing job of keeping the grounds and bathrooms clean and operational, and that is no simple task with the amount of campers rolling through there every year. Will of course try to get back up there next year! Bears in the area, keep all food (actually anything with a scent), LOCKED in the bear box--even if you leave for a short bathroom visit--they apparently eat candles, colored pencils, those tumbleweed fire starters...(and of course bags of trash sitting for too long will draw them in)....and they are even curious about bottled water... (evident from the teeth punctures)... They spook off easily so don't be afraid if you see one, just make some noise and they will jiggle their little butts out of there--just be smarter than them. They DON'T seem to eat stoves, wood, chairs, tools or pans though (haha) so I think you are safe to leave those type of things out overnight if it doesn't all fit in bear box.

One of the resident bald eagles fishing with me at Rock Creek lake. Got lucky with a cheap camera :)

East Fork campground is a welcome respite from camping at lower elevations in the Eastern Sierra where there are no trees! While our boys trips to the area for fishing, horseshoes, drinking beer, cooking dead animals over fire, and more fishing are ably facilitated at those lake-side treeless spots like Crowley and Pleasant Valley reservoir, the wifenkids seem to enjoy a more riparian, forest campsite; hence, we camp up here when I bring the brood. Backing a 19' tent trailer into some of these spots is challenging. Some of the driveways are anything but level, and on one trip, one pull out bed was practically at ground level while the opposite was 6 feet in the air. No matter-- we chocked the wheels really well, lowered the stabilizers, and once you were inside, you wouldn't know we were on a slopes driveway. Rock Creek is pretty, with a beautiful canopy of pines, and lots of alpine wildflowers in season. Nights are cool, and the wind can howl something fierce here. The drive up to the campsite is windy but beautiful. Continue up the road to arrive at Rock Creek lake, Mosquito flats, and an entry to the Ansel Adams wilderness. Elevation is pretty high, so drink lots of water, and watch the littlest campers for signs of altitude sickness. Oh, and at times, there are some local black bears that can be pretty pesky. Lock up the food, and don't keep Fritos in your tent. Trust me on this one.

Campsite 30. Some closer to the road have less obstructed view.

Fantastic little campground. I had wanted to stay closer to Mammoth Lakes, but I was really happy with this spot. I had wanted to stay closer to a lake but it turned out there was less wind here, nicely sheltered by Red Mountain. Firewood available from campsite manager. My site, 30, was nicely sheltered by little Aspens, but a little closer to the entrance many sites have a nice view of Red Mountain. Mammoth Lakes is about a 30-minute, very nice, drive. In some ways maybe better than being closer to town.

Site 23 picnic bench in poor condition.

Ask the Community - East Fork Campgrounds

Are the sites big enough for at least two tents? Also if you get a site not on the water is it still possible to walk to the creek and swim?

Some sites you can fit 2 tents. Sites near the road on enough space for 1. All sites are close enough to the creek to fish and wade. I don't know what you expect when you say "swim", but it is deep enough to get wet.

How do you make reservations here?

Some are reserved through Recreation.gov others are walk-ins first come first serve

Hi! Do each of the tent only campsites have picnic tables/fire pit/bear boxes? I'm trying to get an idea of what I need to bring with me for our trip. Thanks!

I remember every site has a bear box and picnic table. Bathrooms are clean and the hosts are really nice.

September 6-10, 2026 - Mammoth Lakes, CA…read more What would you like to do? Fish, hike, cycle, kayak, paddle board? You can do all that right from this campground. Book early, and choose your site carefully. A few sites are private with lots of room, most are in a more open camping area with sites fairly close together. And with generator hours 6AM - 10PM, it can be a bit noisy if you have a neighbor who came to watch TV in their RV and run the generator all day. We were lucky. We reserved a great site near the lake. The camp hosts Ralph and Virginia are great, very present and helpful. There's plenty to do right from the campground. You can access a waterfall hike, the 5-mile paved Lakes Basin Path for walking or cycling, and the lake for fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. There are also plenty of other lakes nearby if you want to explore a little farther. The general store (currently for sale) is an easy walk from the campground, as is Tamarack Lodge & Resort, where you can grab food and drinks if you're willing to pay resort prices. The general store has a good selection of supplies and also offers a dump station for a $20 fee. You can also catch the FREE trolley here that will take you into town. One downside: the showers weren't working during our stay because of low water pressure. Overall, a great location if you want to spend your time outside actually enjoying the outdoors rather than driving somewhere to find it.

We typically do not order off of the happy hour menu, but we decided what the heck prices seem to be better, Let's give it a shot. Keep in mind we've done this a few times here and there's never been an issue substitution wise for ordering tacos, however on this visit, we were told we could not do any substitutions which I thought was kind of odd as I'm not a seafood fan so I simply requested to have one of the other whether it be Asada or Pollo instead of a trio and not the seafood. After many discussions with our server, and then the manager that was on duty, I was told they're absolutely was no substitutions which I thought was unreasonable ,so after a long time customerI decided we would just not order and close out our bill and this put a sour taste in my mouth about LaCosina. They continue to raise their prices and now not offer choices, and not cater to those who do not like seafood. I am saddened to say, but we will no longer be a customer at La Cosina.

It's located right next to the Village and there's everything you need in town if you forget anything you can walk to the Mammoth visitor center. You have to take a shower in the RV park located across the street which was $8 when we went but they are nice granite bathrooms with individual stalls and men and women showers are separate with no time limit. The bathroom by our camp site didn't have any lighting at night though our campsite #24 was perfect we had 2 cars and we only brought 4 chairs but there was 5 of us so luckily the table was located right next to the campfire so we had enough seating. There was a water spout and bear box and trash can located pretty close to our site. It was a little weird driving in without having to check in though but they eventually come by and ask for fees if you have an extra car or anything. We bought firewood at Vons for around $7 a bundle. The ski resort is located only 14 minutes away and we went to wild willys hot springs. At night there were a lot of moths so be prepared for that but other than that everyone was super nice up there and it was a chill spot to camp at I'd go there again for sure only $22 a night $78 for 3 nights after fees. Also the weather we thought it would be freezing at night it said it would drop to the low 40s high 30s but we only slept with 1 blanket and we're fine.
