Best campground I've been in, as it was very quiet! I usually hate regular campgrounds because of inconsiderate people playing music, screaming kids, and drunk loud people talking at night, but this campground was different. It was dead quiet by 10 pm, which was great. I'm an avid backpacker who likes solitude and waking up in nature, but often I have to spend a night at a regular campground. I hated the Old Shady Rest Campground, but again, New Shady Rest campground is my favorite. Also liked the trail to the park down the way. Very nice! Great Location! Camp Hosts were nice!

We really enjoyed camping at New Shady Rest Campground. The campground is close to all the amenities and restaurants and shops in Mammoth Lakes. We were walking distance from Starbucks. As for the campground it is a lovely family style campground surrounded by lots of trees and easily accessible by vehicle. Bathrooms are cleaned daily and near the campsites. The campsite fits two vehicles and your able to have up to 6 people per site. You cannot go wrong with choosing this campground If you wanna be close to town.

Tent camping this time.

Tried to get a camp site on the lake but all were full.... must be because 3 campsites were closed! Seriously stupid! However, we did manage to get a site here at New Shady Rest. What I love is, there is plenty of room between campsites, there ate lots of trees to hang your hammock, its very clean and we are so close to town! Seriously, we can ride our bikes, take the shuttle or even walk into town yet you feel like you are miles away in the forest! The bathrooms are clean but small and they don't have showers. That really is my only complaint about the campsite.

This place is nice, plenty of trees. Close to town but not a big deal. Made it easier to buy things we forgot. Sites were nice and bathrooms clean, just no showers. I would come back again.

Our favorite "base of operations" in the Sierras. Quiet, clean restrooms, friendly park hosts, beautiful sites in the trees, close to town, no bugs. It doesn't get any better than that!

This was a very adequate car camping location. We stayed here for a night before a backpacking trip. They have decent bathroom facilities and bear lockers for food. The campsites are pretty close to one another and there are lots of RV's. I saw a bear walking through a campsite on my way to the bathrooms at dusk so be sure to lock up all your food. I would stay here again if I was doing another backpacking trip i. The area but wouldn't choose it as a final destination.

Love this Campground great amenities and businesses nearby for all your forgotten needs and more

Great amenities, restaurants, Gas stations and. Rite aid down the street, perfect location with a few miles close to Mammoth Lakes and Devils Post Pile unfortunately there is so much snow right now those roads are closed now and will not be opening till mid or late June, Fortunately there is going to be year round skiing this year . They also have a camp keeper on sight in spot #69 for assistance and firewood for sale Happy Camping to y'all

First time here, didn't realize how close it was off the road. Amazing gift shop. Very clean…read morerestrooms, they offer rooms to rent as well as a wedding venue. Kid and animal friendly, trout stocked lake. Breathtaking views. Easy access for someone with disabilities, can drive almost all the way around the lake. Very clean, quiet, and felt very safe. Picnic tables available as well. Highly recommend and would return. Camping spaces available as well but did not see any campers.

I'm always looking for an excuse to cook for friends. BBQ'd ribs, seared ahi, double-cut pork chops, bone-in ribeyes, and heaping plates of Korean-style short ribs: nobody went to bed hungry (or sober). Convict Lake was base camp for lots of other adventures: trout fishing in the nearby lake and streams, day trips into Mammoth for Mexican food, jujitsu sessions, and restocking depleted supplies of ice and beer, and hikes to the high lakes that surround the campground for overnight sleepovers. we even had several party crashers including Bambi and, one particularly rowdy evening, a bear. maybe next year, I'll find a nearby four-star hotel and leave sleeping on the ground to younger folks with less grumpy backs.

Loved our stay at Sherwin creek campground! Very beautiful…read morecampgrounds, close to town but yet you feel like you're in the middle of no where. Our campsite was clean and pretty level, we stayed at 052. Camp host made her rounds to tell everyone about the rules and bears, and to give out parking passes. She was very nice! We would definitely stay here again. Bathrooms were very very smelly... maybe the worst camping bathrooms I've experienced ha but everything else was perfect and I can't wait to be back!

The spot was a walk up camp ground but the parking was essentially right at our campground which was nice. The campgrounds are close together but not super close. A large portion of the campgrounds were rented to trailers many of whom appeared to be there for a dirt biking event but they were all very nice and where not too loud. The sites get very dusty so I'd definitely recommend having baby wipes as there is no showers on site and the creek although beautiful is very very cold snow melt that even washing your feet in will make them numb.(I still got in but it was cold!) it's close to the sherwin lake/valentine lake trailhead which was what we came for and the hike seriously outdid itself I was not expecting such beauty along the way 10/10 would hike to lake valentine again especially on a hotter day as it was not very hot while we were there. Also the camp host was very very nice the only thing I'd say would say that could make the campgrounds a perfect 5 stars would be some sort of on site shower even if it was by payment because just being at camp it gets quite dusty other then that it was a great experience
