There's a camp host that drives around to check you in. They give you guidelines as well. Rules to follow and such. Quiet time is 10pm to 6am. Well...some folks didn't care about quiet time and they were right next to us and were playing monopoly or some board game and were loud till about midnight. Totally was not cool. I felt like the sites were too close to each other. That's my only complaint. The lakes themselves are beautiful so make sure to check those out as there are many in the surrounding area.

The visitor center is next door to it for any outdoorsy related information needs that you may have. The campsites are fair big and roomy with enough space for multiple tents to set up . Limit of 6 people per site. A fire pit and table and bear resistant food locker. There are are flush toilets within walking distance. And should you need anything else that you forgot to pack, there nearby shopping.

Okay, the parking is terrible but if you're patient and parking lot pimpin', there will be an open spot for you! The water is freezing here in the summer but that is why I love it so much! I love being the 1 out of 3 people who swims here lol. If you want to fish here, I promise there's no fish here. We can never catch anything here! 10/10 will always visit again.

Campgrounds are very well maintained, the bathrooms are clean (no soap though when we were there), potable water spigots all arounds, and campsites have plenty of space. Car ports were a bit tight (he had 2 per parking space) but we managed. Hosts drive around all day and make sure things are going smoothly, some people may like that, others might find it a little annoying. Place is walking distance from a Starbucks and a short drive to the 2 main breweries but oddly does feels secluded enough. Enjoyed our stay and will be back!

The water is cool to cold (depending on the time of year) and refreshing. Highly recommended

I've reached the point in my life where a four-star hotel with no mini-fridge or…read morein-room dining counts as camping, but every year the extended family makes a boys-only trek to Convict Lake and this year, my sixteen-year-old wanted to go. made reservations at the earliest opportunity, first thing in the morning six months out. post Covid doesn't seem to be as crowded but wanted to make sure we had a place to pitch our tent. more than a dozen "boys," tequila, beer, and other party favors made for a marathon week of fireside chats and beer pong. I'm always looking for an excuse to cook for friends. BBQ'd ribs, seared ahi, double-cut pork chops, bone-in ribeyes, and heaping plates of Korean-style short ribs: nobody went to bed hungry (or sober). Convict Lake was base camp for lots of other adventures: trout fishing in the nearby lake and streams, day trips into Mammoth for Mexican food, jujitsu sessions, and restocking depleted supplies of ice and beer, and hikes to the high lakes that surround the campground for overnight sleepovers. we even had several party crashers including Bambi and, one particularly rowdy evening, a bear. maybe next year, I'll find a nearby four-star hotel and leave sleeping on the ground to younger folks with less grumpy backs.
