I attended the weekend Apres Party at the Lodge for the first time and I had so much fun! I went on a Friday and Saturday. It's only from 2:30pm-5pm but it went a little later on both days. It was much more crowded on Saturday. It's free to attend and there is a large parking lot. The bar line for drinks moved much more quickly on Friday. I had to wait about 30 minutes to buy a drink on Saturday but you can still enjoy the music and view while waiting in line. Wldcat was the DJ both days and he was so good! I loved every song he played. Awesome energy and vibes! I'll be back to party for sure.

This Is our first trip to Mammoth and we started at Canyon lodge. The Schoolyard lift is great for beginners! We started at 9:00 and got in five runs before 11:30 before it got crowded. The staff is great the snow conditions were hard despite some light snow yesterday. Nice place!

Canyon lodge is something else for snowboarding, love it here. You can just get an air bnb for a couple of days near by and just walk over then catch the gondola. They have many options for food, nice bar lounge, store etc. many many many runs. Will definitely be back.

Surprised Yelp didn't have Canyon Lodge listed already. I've been going to Mammoth across the better part of 2 decades and this is the newer and nicer lodge, by far. Higher ceilings, large sunny windows, escalators friendly for boots and gear, a bigger Mammoth shop, rental shop, ski school, lockers, cafeteria, rooftop seating and a hopping outdoor bar where a DJ hosts a million young dancers still in snow gear. The parking, though still terrible, is much better laid out in a larger expanse. As it was built more recently, they perhaps had more foresight in making the lot larger than Main Lodge. But still not big enough... You'll still trek uphill for a long walk even when you get here before the slopes open. Take the bus or gondola... The Canyon Lodge is one of the main entry points onto the mountain, the better route if you want to avoid the slow traffic winding down the wee little forest road of Main Lodge. You won't want to need the bathroom while stuck in this line at the end of the day. 7 lifts and the Village Gondola originate from Canyon Lodge. The Village Gondola operated from the lodge through a scenic ride to the town's village (shopping and restaurant area). The area surrounding includes quite the selection of short-term rentals, condos, airbnb, etc. The shuttle will take you to the shops (including grocery store, pharmacy, hotels) further out the main drag of the town. The town is little so the shuttle doubles back soon enough.

The selection of food is not super healthy. All they really had was a salad bar in terms of healthiness. It seems to be carb heavy which is not necessarily the only thing you want to be consuming when skiing or snowboarding. They had chili, chicken tenders, fries, Mexican food, grilled cheese, clam chowder, taco soup, etc. I saw that there were a lot of people drinking too who had come with ski and snowboarding gear. I find it concerning that they'd motivate drinking and ski/snowboarding (like drinking and driving) by making it so accessible. That's definitely more of a money grab than a care-for-the-general public kind of move. I tried the $18 chicken tenders and fries, and the $11 beef chili. The chili was repetitive in flavor and didn't entice you to finish the whole bowl but it was decent. There was nothing special to it. Depending on when you order it, you might get a more water-y chili. You get to add your own toppings, however much you want, build your own style. The toppings selection included crackers, red onions, cheese, pickled jalapeño slices and sour cream. There were two lines when ordering food. The left line has food packaged to be taken to-go so it's soggier. The right line has the food served for you to eat there. My sister got her food from the left line on accident so her tenders and fries were soggy. There were plenty of tables and seating for people wanting to rest or wanting to eat something. They had a hydration station which was nice for filling bottles but it showed red for the filter status and the water gushed out in a way that would get your hand wet. The water from it was ice cold and the stickers on the machine seemed to be melting off. There's an escalator that takes you from the parking lot level to the ground level for the lifts. The rest of the four stories is accessible mainly because stairs. I'm sure they have an elevator but I don't think I saw it. The restrooms are good, multiple people, big enough. The women's restroom always seems to have a line. I found a stranger's iKon pass when boarding schoolyard and I came to the ticket desk to return it. The lady there was nice about receiving the pass I had found and had informed me that the guy who had lost it had already come by earlier to print a new one. I appreciated the explanation she gave me and how nicely she responded to me.

I know that theft is not the fault of the resort but they should have cameras setup outside especially in the area where people put their equipment on the rack. My 11 year old son's brand new Atomic racing skis was stolen when he went in to the lodge to use the restroom and meet up with me for a hot beverage. Only his ski poles were left behind. Both skis has a big white label at the top indicating his name, my cell phone number and Snow Summit Race Team logo (because he is on the team and was at Mammoth for practice) so it's not a case of someone thinking it was theirs. I don't know what anyone can do to protect their equipment except to bring it into the restroom with them. I reported the theft to Lost and Found and local police but I doubt there is anything they can do except to note my report was filed and add to the statistic of reported theft at Canyon Lodge.

My favorite of the lodge/lift areas I visited during my ski trip to Mammoth! (Out of Eagle, Canyon, Mill, and Main.) It looks the most updated and modern from the outside, with multiple floors, big windows, and balconies. A plethora of food and drink options for lunch. We came here two days for lunch and got Asian food one day and Mexican the next. (Will say that the food wasn't amazing, but it was certainly decent and I was impressed with the variety of options they had.) While here for lunch, I had a view looking out over the mountain (Cloverleaf/Downhill run). Was beautiful! On Saturday, they had a DJ starting at 2pm and while I didn't partake in the dance party, it did look like people were having a really good time and getting into the apres ski. In terms of lifts and run, there are a wide variety here for skiers of every level. There are some nice greens for beginners like me off the Schoolyard Express lift, or you can take Chair 8 to ski the longer and more scenic Holiday/Pumpkin green runs to Eagle Lodge. Canyon Express is a fancier lift, probably the most updated, with a "magic carpet" boarding area and a safety bar that automatically locks if you pull it down (and then automatically lifts before then dismount area). Lot of blue/black options at the top, but also Easy Rider green to head over to The Mill area. Does seem like it's one of the busier/more popular areas, likely because it does have something for everyone here.

We arrived the night of firework. We missed it. But it is awesome to see the ma management decided to do fireworks in highwind and snowy night on 12/14/24. A lot of people packed in the building and outside the building. Everyone had a great time.

Managing a group of kids with very different skill levels is no small task, but Drew handled it with patience, enthusiasm, and impressive skill. He quickly assessed where each child was at and tailored his guidance so everyone felt challenged while still having fun and building confidence on the mountain. Over the two days, Drew took the kids all over the mountain, helping them explore new terrain while always keeping safety front and center. His clear instructions and practical tips made a noticeable difference in their skiing, and it was great to see their progress even within a short time. Drew has a great way of explaining technique in a way kids understand, which helped them improve without feeling overwhelmed. One of the highlights for the kids was spending time in the ski park, where Drew showed them some fun tricks and helped them try new things safely. He struck the perfect balance between encouraging them to push their limits and making sure they stayed in control and confident. By the end of the lessons, all four kids were excited about how much they had learned and couldn't stop talking about their favorite runs. We're incredibly grateful for the experience and would highly recommend Drew Harris to other families looking for a fantastic ski instructor. His ability to manage multiple levels, keep kids engaged, and make learning fun made these two days on the mountain truly memorable.

Knowing how the bus system works is a must as you'll probably inevitably have to take them. This is the only place I've ever seen Disneyland long lines to take the bus at the end of the day at 4pm, while buses are stuck, stopped in a gridlock traffic jam. The line for a chairlift on a Monday wasn't even that long, yet somehow took almost 1.5 hours due to a conglomeration of factors. People either don't know or pretend they don't know how the chairlift lines merge and they have to wait their turn and merge 1,2,1,2, so whole families trying to cut in front of each other ended up yelling at each other, causing a scene. Everyone's frustrated and impatient with the chairlift lines and how slow they move. Yet then you'll randomly find another chairlift on the mountain with no line, and can stick to it all day and it will never grow a line as people's brains don't work too well at these high altitudes and they'll just keep flocking to the same Disneyland long line ones like sheep. The people here are really nice, like surprisingly nice and helpful. People will stop and make sure you're okay if you fall. One guy/simp even spent an hour helping my girlfriend slowly down the mountain after we got on a run too steep for her and got separated. There's a few outliers as always though, with the 3 degenerates in the car parked next to us bragging/joking about all the people they ran down that day, as it was early season and crowded. I saw one teenage snowboarder run down some little kid, and then take off as the kid's dad was screaming at him. As for the employees here, they're extremely nice and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back later this season after the crowds subside.

I planned this trip with a group of friends, and they could not stop commenting about how the chalets was the best stay they've been in at Mammoth. We stayed at chalet #9 which was not a ski out, but a very short walk to the main lodge/lifts and definitely a ski in from lower road runner. The chalet itself was cozy with plentiful seating, and even extra foldable chairs for our group. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms came equipped with hotel sized toiletries, which was a nice touch. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped with all the necessities, along with a fridge/freezer that was the perfect size to fit all of our weekend groceries. I also appreciated that they even had a huge pot to make group meals like pho, even though I had already brought my own instant pot. I…read moremean, if you're a skiier, you probably already know about it, but in the off season (before the snows), you can get a room for a low rate, and still have the whole of Mammoth Lakes at your doorstep to explore! Tons of shops, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, etc. await! For amenities, Juniper Springs Resort boasts a pool, an exercise room, a jacuzzi, and beautiful lounging areas. The rooms all have small balconies where you can get some fresh air and admire the scenery. And (we learned mid-trip) the resort is one of four regular stops for the local free shuttle/trolley that comes by every 30 minutes or so and is free to use. On top of that, the resort is adjacent to one of Mammoth Lakes' many ski lifts, so at least some of the runs are available literally right at your doorstep. The room we rented was comfortable and spacious, with a full kitchen, nice comfy living room with gas fireplace, and a separate bedroom, and there were TVs in both rooms. Parking, by the way, is underground, which is assuredly a huge perk during the winter snows. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and would definitely consider staying there again. Couple of things they could have done better: 1. Guests should be made aware at check-in of the availability of the shuttle/trolley. My sweetheart was stuck at the hotel for a day until we figured this out for ourselves, as even when asked about Uber/Lyft, the front desk never mentioned the shuttle. 2. The ice machine on the 4th floor was perpetually empty. Not sure if it was just being regularly raided by other guests, or if it was in need of service. 3. A blender we attempted to use (provided as one of the in-room amenities) leaked its contents out through the bottom seal like a seive. When I disassembled it to check the gasket, I found black mold. The front desk was unable to help, but offered to remove it for us. 4. The televisions in the room were not "smart" in the sense that we could not "cast" to them from our phones. We do this a lot, so it's not a user error thing. Just beware you will be limited to whatever viewing options the TV/cable service provides. PRO TIP 1: Hinging off of #3 above, the rooms in the resort are potentially privately owned. Apparently ours was, and was rented out as a sort of Air-BnB. This was the reason the hotel couldn't help with the blender, as it is not an item the resort provides, but was provided by the owner. PRO TIP 2: BEWARE THE ELEVATOR DOORS! They close VERY quickly after opening, and we were struck by them several times. Open the door, stick your hand in, and once everyone has gone in or out, then remove your hand. I'll end with a funny/silly observation. In the elevators was posted a list of the hotel regulations, among which were the parking requirements. The advisement ended with a warning that vehicles parked inappropriately, and not corrected within 24 hours, would have a "boot" affixed to their vehicle. In a nutshell, if your vehicle is parked in such a way that it is causing a problem, their "fix" will be to make that situation permanent. Totally makes sense.

Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury.
