This was our first ski trip to Mammoth and our second day on the mountain. We drove from our hotel, since it would be easier to manage our ski gear, and because someone told us that there is free parking. We arrived early and ate our free hotel take-away breakfast in the car. The buildings at Eagle Lodge are large tents, the kind that were at LAX during construction. But inside, there is a cafe/restaurant, a few non-crowed restrooms, another tent had ski rentals and a ski instruction school. The beginner lift has a long ride to the top but the ski trip down is also long and gentle. We like Eagle because it's less crowded than Canyon, and the beginner run was long and fun!

It's certainly not the most impressive of the lodges around Mammoth, but it does the job. I really appreciated staying near Eagle Lodge because there are some good green runs for beginner skiers at this lift! It is also not super crowded which is nice. Holiday into Pumpkin run (both green) is a super scenic, pretty low key long run to really be able to enjoy the view and a stress free ski. And the views on a clear day are spectacular! Eagle Lodge's rentals and ski valet (for multi-day rentals) is super convenient. The folks at the rental spot are friendly and very helpful. I got boots put on for me with some great tips to prevent shin pain and they were actually comfortable all day! Getting our prepaid lift passes was easy at automated kiosks as well. The food and drink options at this lodge are kind of iffy, nothing special. Some grab and go sandwiches/salads, and a chicken sandwich spot. It's not the place to be if you're looking for good apres ski and vibes. But again, convenient for where we stayed - Juniper Springs - and had what we needed!

    Instructor Danny was awesome!

Shout out to Danny who instructed our 10 year old on his first snowboarding lesson. He had a great attitude when we first met him, so I instantly knew my son would be in good hands. The feedback I got from him was that Danny was very patient, informative and attentive. He had so much fun that we wanted to go back and ask for him again, but go on the big mountain with him this time. The lesson was a good 5 hour with lunch included. It's perfect for littles who are just learning and if you want to free up your on the mountain without worry about your kids. Danny even took a great pic of my son with Woolly, which I still plan to get from him. Lol! Overall, the experience for lessons here were wonderful! I highly recommend it!

To the RUDE EMPLOYEE January 10th at around 11 am who did not let my sister and I in today because she had a ADA SERVICE DOG IS UNACCEPTABLE. Check your employees and your local laws. YOU CAN NOT REFUSE SERVICE FOR A SERVICE DOG. AND U CAN NOT ASK WHAT SOMEONES DISABILITY IS. Unfortunately you'll be hearing from my representation about This DISCRIMINATION. According to the ADA, employees at a business "are not allowed to request any documentation" for a service dog. When returning to use the restroom SANS DOG the employee started making remarks to me even WITHOUT my dog. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION AND UNLAWFUL. Please train your employees. Beginning on March 15, 2011, only dogs are recognized as service animals under titles II and III of the ADA. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Generally, title II and title III entities must permit service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where members of the public are allowed to go. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person's disability. The American Disability Act (ADA) prohibits both public and private businesses from discriminating against people with disabilities. In so doing, these businesses are required to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto their premises wherever customers are allowed to go.

First time at Eagle Lodge Ski Area. Sort of glad we came to this side of the mountain, since the Main Lodge was fully booked for kids lessons this time around. Didn't stay at the nearby lodge, but location was easy to find (just parking is a headache like all ski areas, if you are late). Friendly service and staff. Children area was accommodating for beginners. Pricing...I could easily give a lower rating here, but let's say the friendly service helped us forget about the increased prices this time around.

Remember when this was "wooleys ski school"? It was very cute & fun for the kids. Now there's nothing about Woolley...instead there's a distinct Pride flag on the 3-4 year olds bunny hill. It's not LGBTQ+ week or month, it's February 25th. Parents are purchasing these lessons for their kids to learn to ski...it's inappropriate to have a Pride flag in the kids ski school area...especially when there are no other flags elsewhere on the mountain.

Second-smallest of Mammoth's four base lodges, it's a series of temporary tents that are effectively permanent at this point. It works out, but the parking area is small, the lodge area-- while growing-- isn't big-- and the food, while pretty decent with the BBQ outside when it's nice-- is otherwise meh. Mammoth Mountain has made extensive investments all over the mountain in recent years, particularly with Canyon Lodge. Hopefully the other main lodges-- the unsurprisingly-named Main Lodge, as well as this Eagle Lodge, will be next?

It's a semi permanent tent structure system with food services, restrooms, ski rentals and ski storage. There is an outside dining area as well as inside. It's right by a big chair lift (6 riders) that feeds to green & blue runs & runs that lead to other chairs & lodges. There is a children's learning area close by too. Good parking area.

Since my fiancé and I stayed at the Juniper Springs Resort, the Eagle Lodge was our go to lodge. We came here to get our rentals and lift tickets. Since we were excited to hit slopes on the first day and arrived earlier than expected, we got free lift tickets for our first day with our Alaska Airlines boarding passes. The staff was very helpful making sure our boots fit comfortably. Signing up for a snowboard lesson was quick and easy. This lodge is not as busy as Canyon and Main, which is why I liked it the most. The bathrooms are clean and there is hydration station. There is also Talon Restaurant and Bar if you need lunch or a drink. It's a great starting point to get to the other chair lifts and trails.

Vacasa Charlie Batsch 5 reviews US Rated 1 out of 5 stars Updated just now TWTMC dont ever Use VACASA TWTMC, Over all our experience this last week at #29 Hidden Valley Condos Mammoth Lakes California was fun (outside.) It's just that when you spend this much money, (6 nights@ $1332) you expect everything to be in working order. The first day we were there, we looked at the fireplace. It turned out to be a wood pellet stove. Of which I was told a week before we arrived to bring my own wood for a fireplace which I packed a large heavy trash can in my van which took alot of room. (First inconvenience). After reading directions on how to work it, we got the pellet stove working a loud noise emitted from it, which I assumed was the auger moving the pellets into the fire box. So loud you couldn't hear the television even when the volume was turned way up. We immediately turned it off and tried again from the beginning of the directions with the same effect. Same the next morning also. I called Vacasa and reported the experience and the representative listened to it by which they said they would get someone to fix it. After 2 days of reporting it to Vacasa, they said a repair man would contact us. He contacted us on the 4th day of our 5 day vacation and said he would come by. Upon hearing me coughing from a cold I developed on the way to Mammoth, he said he would be by to fix it after we departed. Bummer. No stove the whole vacation, an amenity of great loss. Oh, well. 3rd day in, we had accumulated a few dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I decided to run the load, and the dishwasher ran without water. I checked the water supply, under the sink to see it was turned on. Being a California general building contractor, I knew where to look. I reported it to the repair man at the same time as reporting the stove. He wouldn't come for the same reason even though I told him I was better and over the cold. He heard me coughing and said he had been very sick 2 weeks before and was scared to get sick from me. 2nd bummer, no dishwasher for vacation. The 3rd day, the coffee maker broke down. Thankfully, I had brought an expresso machine with us. We sucked it up and had fun skiing anyway. I, as a contractor, have to have a finished home in order and inspect the said property to make sure all is in working order. Apparently, no one has inspected this unit in a while, and you need to run all appliances to make sure they work. Needless to say, we were unimpressed. We left yesterday. And now I'm seeking a 50% refund or same appropriate reduction for a future stay at one of the same units in Hidden Valley in the future. A Supervisor Sarah called me a week later and said she'd call back and never called back. Ever.... Please respond ASAP. Signed, Charlie Batsch Recap: Vacasa has refunded pittance of partial refund of $138 Never again will I use VACASA it was a 10% refund and I asked for 50% I should have got at least 25% I will never use VACASA again and advise others to do the same. I'm so glad we stayed here. We were two adults and one child and stayed in a private family room with one bed and a bunk bed. The bunk beds have little curtains which our kiddo liked. I didn't totally trust that the barrier on the top bunk was high enough to prevent my kiddo from falling off so I had her sleep in the bottom bunk. The room was small but we knew that and it was enough space for three of us. We loved how it was decorated down to the individually wrapped towels in the bathroom. No TV which I also liked and forced us to hang out together! We were on the second floor and there were comfy rocking chairs on the deck where we sat at night and enjoyed our wine. We were able to borrow the wine glasses in the community kitchen which was very convenient. We also spent time on the couches outside the kitchen and the Adirondack chairs in the yard - just a lot of open places to hang out which was nice. The airstream store is super cute. We didn't get a chance to try their coffee but did buy one of the treats and also some gifts from the gift shop and played yard games in front. Schatt's bakery is next door which was a nice bonus and we grabbed breakfast there in the morning and brought it back. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Walking distance to the bowling alley where we went for a couple hours to play and also get a delicious steak (yes from the bowling alley cafe - no joke!). We'd definitely stay here again when passing through Bishop.

Quite frankly, we were nightmare guests for this wonderful couple! First, we were all going to stay in one cottage, but upon arrival, Neil observed us trying to get my 88-year-old handicapped mother up the stairs inside. He consulted privately with Carol and very kindly offered us the unit below theirs that had the bathroom, bedroom, and living room on one floor. What a life saver! Mom and I stayed there--at no extra charge! I don't know what we would have done otherwise. Then when our car broke down in Yosemite Village, Neil drove us the almost 20 miles back to the village the next day, waited while we sorted out the car and a place to stay in the village, drove us to our next place, then helped us unload the bags into our lodging!! OMG. We were really astounded at Neil's graciousness, as well as Carol's. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We strongly recommend anyone who wants reasonable rates close to Yosemite Village check out Cozy Bear. She explained the fees and terms clearly and sent all the details by mail. She also very kindly allowed us to arrive before the 4pm check-in time when I explained we would be driving 4 hours from home with a cooler full of perishable groceries and wanted to drop them off in the refrigerator before proceeding on to the Valley for some site-seeing. Location was easy to find because I used Google maps prior to setting out. Good thing because our GPS got us to the road, but not to the specific address. Also helpful is that the entire Yosemite West neighborhood is on Google street view. Neal greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive. He and Carol live next door and invited us to call them if we needed anything and said they would come right over, but we never needed to call them. Location is the closest you can get without being in Yosemite Valley itself. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the Valley Visitor Center, but is very near destinations such as Glacier Point, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, and Wawona. The kitchen had cooking and baking implements, and a few ingredients, such as cooking oil, coffee, tea, sugar, and condiments, but these are apparently left from previous guests, but looked usable. We brought most of our groceries from home, and bought a few items each day at the Market in Yosemite Valley. There is no place to buy food or gas in Yosemite West. There is a gas fireplace and games and VCR/DVD in the living room, and an outdoor patio with a BBQ grill, but we didn't use any of these much because we were out all day enjoying nature. Beds were comfortable, there was ample storage, and the 3 kids fit perfectly in their own room with 1 double and 1 twin bed. Only slight inconveniences were having 1 bathroom, a dining table that only fits 4, and the many bear-themed decorations which crowded the space on bedroom dressers, counters, and beds. Also be aware that there are 4 separate levels to the house, so you will be going up and down stairs constantly. This is a Duplex, so occasionally we could hear the Cozy Bear South guests moving about or speaking, but it wasn't a problem because they were not overly loud. The neighborhood was quiet at night while we were there. We cleaned the kitchen and took out the garbage as instructed and Carol and Neal refunded our full cleaning deposit before we even got home from our trip. Overall, this is a very comfortable and conveniently located place to stay. It is very good for families with kids and if you like saving money by cooking your own food and don't mind washing dishes while on vacation.

Managing a group of kids with very different skill levels is no small task, but Drew handled it with patience, enthusiasm, and impressive skill. He quickly assessed where each child was at and tailored his guidance so everyone felt challenged while still having fun and building confidence on the mountain. Over the two days, Drew took the kids all over the mountain, helping them explore new terrain while always keeping safety front and center. His clear instructions and practical tips made a noticeable difference in their skiing, and it was great to see their progress even within a short time. Drew has a great way of explaining technique in a way kids understand, which helped them improve without feeling overwhelmed. One of the highlights for the kids was spending time in the ski park, where Drew showed them some fun tricks and helped them try new things safely. He struck the perfect balance between encouraging them to push their limits and making sure they stayed in control and confident. By the end of the lessons, all four kids were excited about how much they had learned and couldn't stop talking about their favorite runs. We're incredibly grateful for the experience and would highly recommend Drew Harris to other families looking for a fantastic ski instructor. This is the only place I've ever seen Disneyland long lines to take the bus at the end of the day at 4pm, while buses are stuck, stopped in a gridlock traffic jam. The line for a chairlift on a Monday wasn't even that long, yet somehow took almost 1.5 hours due to a conglomeration of factors. People either don't know or pretend they don't know how the chairlift lines merge and they have to wait their turn and merge 1,2,1,2, so whole families trying to cut in front of each other ended up yelling at each other, causing a scene. Everyone's frustrated and impatient with the chairlift lines and how slow they move. Yet then you'll randomly find another chairlift on the mountain with no line, and can stick to it all day and it will never grow a line as people's brains don't work too well at these high altitudes and they'll just keep flocking to the same Disneyland long line ones like sheep. The people here are really nice, like surprisingly nice and helpful. People will stop and make sure you're okay if you fall. One guy/simp even spent an hour helping my girlfriend slowly down the mountain after we got on a run too steep for her and got separated. There's a few outliers as always though, with the 3 degenerates in the car parked next to us bragging/joking about all the people they ran down that day, as it was early season and crowded. I saw one teenage snowboarder run down some little kid, and then take off as the kid's dad was screaming at him. As for the employees here, they're extremely nice and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back later this season after the crowds subside.
