My son and I love to walk around Bishop Creek Lodge!

Bishop Creek Lodge is the ultimate getaway!! I've been visiting this area since I was born and 32 years later I look forward to more and more trips to Bishop Creek Lodge and the Eastern Sierra. The crew at BCL has always been super friendly and so inviting like family. So many memories have been made there over the years and I can't wait to make more with my growing family. After a long day of driving, we bring in our bags, light up a fire in the pit, and crack open a cold one. I write this review from my living room couch hundreds of miles away feeling bittersweet that I am not at Bishop Creek Lodge. Until next time!

My son's family and I just stayed for a few nights in the Golden cabin. It was a great experience we all had. Making s'mores by the fire pit was a hit with my grandson. Our cabin was clean, comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. The staff were great and helped us with everything we needed like extra towels and what not. It's a great place to go if you want to get away from the city and just enjoy Mother Nature!

My husband and I stopped here after a great hike up to Lookout Mountain. We ordered the chili cheese fries, a beer, and a lemonade and we're not disappointed! Portion size was large enough for both of us to share, just what we needed after a long hike on a hot day. Beer was local and very reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back! Very polite, attentive, and friendly staff.

This place is awesome. For those of you that think it's expensive, look where you are. Everything has to he brought up the hill. You are pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I think the prices are close to what they are at home. Enjoy the views and the great food. Mostly burgers and pizza. I took pictures of the menu since I wasn't able to find on line. I do agree with most that this used to be more of a dinner steakhouse but you can do that at home. Very casual. Bar is a nice place to hang out and tell fish stories from your day. Enjoy

    The dirty bed

Staying here for 4 nights and it feels like I am staying at a campsite with running water. For the price you pay each night, it feels like this place hasn't been cleaned in years!!! There's cobwebs in every corner, gaps under the front and back door they don't even feel secure, awful odor in the heater, and tiolet with cracks in it. This place is beat down they don't put any money or care into these cabins. Would NEVER stay here again. So unclean and overall a horrible experience. Paying $300 a night for what??! Edit: Day 2 pulled back the blanket on the bed to see if there was an outlet on that side of the wall and it was filled with crumbs and dead flies! Meaning they did not wash the blankets of the bed since who knows when! This is out of hand. Edit: Man does it just get worse there are mice living in the cabin! This was the final straw so we cut our stay short and got a refund for the remaining days. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

This review is written with mixed feelings, as I have been visiting for the last 28 years for a dinner while on vacation, fishing, hiking, or hunting. I have seen this place at one time with an extensive menu, excellent service, and a comfortable warm place to grab an excellent dinner in the mountains. I could get a steak here, with all the fixings, a cold glass of beer, and a warm fire burning after a long day of playing outdoors. This trip, what I found was nothing that looked like years past. Other than the decor, many things have changed. It still appears quite appropriate, however there are other very noticeable changes. 1. The menu features burgers and bar food ONLY. No steaks or adult food anymore. 2. Even though the outdoor temp was 30 degrees and snow was flying at 4:45 pm on a Thursday night in October, there was no fire, no heat. 3. Should I be willing to pay 50+ bucks to eat and continue to be cold after playing outside? 4. Did I mention I was really cold? 5. Hey, there is pizza on the menu, and pizza is good. We were happy with the pizza. 6. The service was very attentive. But, my wife asked for a side of pizza sauce, and was served a side of cold pizza sauce. She was told that is how it comes. It makes sense now somehow as it was cold inside. 7. We witnessed us, plus another couple and a group of 6 inquire about heat/fire within a 30 minute period between 4:45 and 5:15pm. All of us were told that they don't light a fire since they have to close by 8pm. 8. I have pictures of all the staff and patrons on this evening dressed in their jackets and beanies, because it was so cold that even the servers were frozen, even while working hard. 9. This place needs to realize who pays the bills. No fire or heat on a 30 degree night, a clientele that is requesting heat, well that clientele is who pays the bills. 10. Service was really attentive. Food was good, but menu very disappointing. It was just too cold inside to overlook, and the 8pm closing is not an excuse not to light a fire at 5pm. Even the wait staff was cold. Poor management, and not a chance we come back even though we will drive by at least 10 or 15 times in the coming year.

    Perfect management!

I've been lucky enough to hang at the Bishop Creek Lodge annually since 2006. Our group goes up to camp and fish and hike and drink beer (lots of beer). Bishop Creek Lodge is ALWAYS a stop (usually multiple times during a trip) for ice, grocery, bait, wood, maybe a shower, sometimes to eat but ALWAYS to drink in the bar or on the patio (weather permitting). They are also an official site to weigh your catch! The service is friendly and seems genuinely happy to see us return. The food is good-burgers, grilled cheese and even steak! It's not cheap, but worth it! The stories in the bar are always tall. I can't wait to visit in 2012! I love Bishop Creek Lodge (I even bought a purple sweatshirt there last week cuz I needed one one morning for about a minute)!

I believe this place is recently under new ownership & the new family is doing a GREAT job - took over like pros. We just returned from a weekend stay in Cabin #1 and had a blast! The cabins are rustic and charming, and very clean. It's not fancy, so if that's what you're looking for, motor on. But the bed was super comfy, the water in the shower got super hot and the room, kitchen and bathroom were all very clean and cozy! There was no shortage of fun stuff to do, and the owner was great about giving advice on where to hike and where to fish. We love staying in the cabin, so we can cook our own meals, but if you're up there and get a chance to dine in the lodge, I highly recommend it. We just grabbed a pizza in there, but it was OVER THE TOP delicious! You can tell the crust was from scratch, and the amount of cheese was just to die for! The general store is well stocked, so if you forget to pack something (like I did) - no worries, they have it there and are open early and stay open late! What else can I say? The property is very well maintained and very quiet. I'm attaching a picture from the front porch of Cabin #1- which speaks for itself. We will absolutely be back to this place... and SOON!

I'm so glad we stayed here. We were two adults and one child and stayed in a private family room with one bed and a bunk bed. The bunk beds have little curtains which our kiddo liked. I didn't totally trust that the barrier on the top bunk was high enough to prevent my kiddo from falling off so I had her sleep in the bottom bunk. The room was small but we knew that and it was enough space for three of us. We loved how it was decorated down to the individually wrapped towels in the bathroom. No TV which I also liked and forced us to hang out together! We were on the second floor and there were comfy rocking chairs on the deck where we sat at night and enjoyed our wine. We were able to borrow the wine glasses in the community kitchen which was very convenient. We also spent time on the couches outside the kitchen and the Adirondack chairs in the yard - just a lot of open places to hang out which was nice. The airstream store is super cute. We didn't get a chance to try their coffee but did buy one of the treats and also some gifts from the gift shop and played yard games in front. Schatt's bakery is next door which was a nice bonus and we grabbed breakfast there in the morning and brought it back. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Walking distance to the bowling alley where we went for a couple hours to play and also get a delicious steak (yes from the bowling alley cafe - no joke!). We'd definitely stay here again when passing through Bishop.

Front desk attendant was friendly and welcoming, helpful with orientation and greeted everyone good morning walking in for breakfast. At check-in, we had the option to choose between an upstairs or downstairs room. Downstairs made it convenient for loading boards, right next to FREE parking spaces. Staff was accommodating to provide additional amenities, such as extra towels and lotion. House keeping only upon request the night before. Complimentary breakfast starting at 6:00 AM. The breakfast area was packed with snowboarders on the dot, added to the vibe. Hot omelette and sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, and hard-boiled eggs. Great to fuel up for the mountain. Lady was quick to refill hot foods. There's also refreshing citrus water to quench your thirst in the lobby. That said, few things to be aware of. While the main room itself was clean, the shower area showed some wear, especially around the caulking where you could see mold. The showerhead also sits low - if you're over 6 feet tall, it's going to feel tight. The biggest downside is the thin walls & floors. You don't hear much street noise, but you absolutely hear people... every footstep, every toilet flush, rolling suitcases, and late-night arrivals. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Can hear people coming in around 11 PM pretty clearly. 3.5 stars: Great if you value convenience, affordability, and friendly staff. Place delivers the basics, but noticeable drawbacks of worn shower & thin walls keep it from being a solid 4 or 5 star stay.
