We stayed in two rooms on a Friday night in September; arrived quite late. Good: easy, friendly check-in at the gas station. Convenient one floor hotel. On Main Street, an easy walk to everything in town. Not much truck noise at night. Hotel Wi-Fi speed near 10 Mbps, fast enough for general browsing. Good cellular signal, at least with AT&T. Good to see rooftop solar! Less convenient: there is a step up in front of each room, which would not work for a wheelchair user. Each fridge had a few inches of ice and could use defrosting. My family did not want one room because it had a large moth; the bathroom overhead light did not work. The other room had no shower gel. None of my vacation photos uploaded on the hotel Wi-Fi even after I switched my phone off and on.

No heat and grimy. Heater wouldn't turn on, and had to have staff come in to turn it on. It turned off in the middle of the night and we were unable to get it to come on again (again) despite setting the temperature, mode, and on/off. Bathroom was nice for a gas station, but lots of mildew in the shower. Toilet was loose to the floor (rocked). Shower had soap dispensers, but shower gel was empty -- other containers weren't sampled. Bed mattress had a mound in the middle, like the inverse of a sag. Very soft mattress in general, and far from flat. Padded desk chairs were heavily stained. We tolerated it since we were in a backpacking mode, but if you care about clean, then look elsewhere.

Nice place to crash on the way to the ancient Forrest. Rooms are clean and neat. Bathroom is huge enough to host the fridge, microwave and coffee pot. So it's like having a kitchen in your bath or a toilet in your kitchen. Take your pick! Check in is done at the gas station next door. The gas station has much more than a quickie market, it's like a mini Home Depot that sells snacks and gas and fishing licenses or motel rooms. Highly recommend staying at the Bristlecone!

I enjoy the nostalgia of a drive up motel and decided to stay here after a long trip heading south because the price was right. Well as happy Gilmore said the price was wrong Bob. On first glance the room was nice but as I used the kitchen sink I noticed a filthy microwave. While using the shower I also noticed the previous guest had left an uncapped bottle of a mysterious ointment or lotion on top of the shower. So I did what any guy who cant resist free stuff would do I quickly covered myself in the free mysterious liquid. While pulling the sheets back the sheets appeared dirty which came off with a quick sweeping of my hand. And then to top it off a small little bug crawled across my arm at night. I dont believe it was a bed bug but still was tressapassing anyway.

View from the room. Quiet for how busy this store is!people watchers dream

Inexpensive, clean, everything worked, including a bigger than average refrigerator (at least in my room). A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The AC absolutely cranks, which was heaven after being out in the heat all day. The owners have added so many thoughtful touches: toothbrushes, single-use toothpaste, makeup remover wipes, bath gels, plus a mini fridge and microwave in the room. When I checked in, I was greeted with bottled water, fruit, and cookies, such a kind welcome after a long day. There are also cute patios with hanging lights where you can sit and eat takeout, and there's even a homemade ice cream shop right next door with a really vibey outdoor patio. One of the owners mentioned a nearby trail just behind the motel, and I'm so glad I listened. I ended up walking through the beautiful Mary DeDecker native plant garden alongside a babbling creek with little bridges and an incredible sunset view over the mountain ridge. It turned into one of the highlights of my trip. This place may not look like much from the outside, but it has heart, kindness, and everything you actually need for a peaceful stay.

If you expect luxury and being pampered this is not for you. This is rustic charm in an adorable very clean fishing cabin. The bed linens and towels were like brand new. Beds all comfortable! The food in the restaurant was simple but good and there is no where else to go on the mountain for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. It is in the tree's with water running thru it which my dog loved, Yes they are pet friendly. It is nestled against the mountain, simple and quiet, at least after we left (there were 12 of us). Convict Lake and Mammoth Lakes were on my bucket list for so many years. Living in the Bay Area means it's a rough 5-6 hours of driving through windy mountainous roads. Thus, we wanted to pick a place to stay that could provide us the comfort of home we needed. And Convict Lake Resort delivered! From the booking process to checking in and later checking out, everything was a breeze! We received emails reminder from staff detailing easy steps needed to check in. When it looked like we might arrive late, they promptly sent us instructions for self check in. Luckily we arrived on time before the gift shop close. Each cabin has 1 parking spot for your car. However, there are many parking spaces within walking distance to your cabin if you and your party happen to have more than 1 car. As soon as we opened the door into our cabin, our stress and exhaustion of the long drive melted away! We love the high vaulted ceiling, the warm woody interior and how spacious and clean the inside of our cabin was! It was so welcoming and smells so good! You could tell that the staff did a wonderful job cleaning and preparing for your stay! Thank you ! The kitchen area was another highlights of the cabin! It was big with full amenities! We used it so many times during our stay to cook our meals and everything in between! Microwaves, fridges, freezer, chopping board, plate wares, forks and spoons, etc. You name it, they have it! There's a door by the kitchen area which gave you access to the mini wood behind your cabin. We once spotted some deers here during twilight times . And the BATHROOM!!! We LOVE IT!! Super spacious with nice rain-forest shower head! After a long day being active outside like hiking, kayaking and other stuff, we came home to the cabin, hopped into the shower and let all our fatigue washed away! I swear this shower had some acupuncture magic as it soothed my tired body so well! The sliding door to the bathroom was so modern and chic itself. We love the tiny windows looking out to the wood beside our cabin. We joked to each other that "Number 2 with a great view !" Not only the inside was amazing, the outside porch area with the gas grill was another bonus! Never had we ever seen such a clean grill like this! Kudos again to the staff ! We utilized the grill many times during our visits and enjoyed a dinner or breakfast outdoor with our pup :) And first time in our life, we saw such a dog friendly place! Every cabin seemed to have at least one dog. My puppy Butter had such a wonderful socializing with all his furry friends and neighbors. We enjoyed walking around and checking out the resort on the lovely trails surrounding the resort and looked at all the amazing mountains. Convict Lake Resort is just 10 minutes of walking and 5 minutes of driving from Convict Lake. Location! Location! Location!! There's a lovely restaurant onsite that I'll review in details in another review :) Overall, AMAZING place and words cannot describe how satisfied we were! We'll definitely come back and recommend this place with all our family and friends :)

As a city-dweller, flat-lander, or however else one might refer to us "city folks"- I'll preface this review with- I am a reasonably intelligent person with reasonable expectations. I did my homework, and I knew what I was signing up for when booking our cabin. All cabins are different here so be aware of what floorpan you're booking and what the cabin offers. We booked a cabin for 4 people. It appeared that for our stay, you will receive 1 towel "set" per person based on cabin occupancy. With this, if your stay is more than a couple days, you may consider bringing additional towels. This isn't the Hyatt, folks. We brought our own toiletries, as well as an ice chest with our meals and snacks. Our cabin had a mini fridge, small oven, range, dishes, percolator, cooking utensils, tongs, and mixing bowl. We still prepared as though we were dry camping though so we brought a tote full of items/equipment we figured we may need including 1G of water per person per day. Cabins, in my opinion, are a tad run down- fishing/camping cabins. Again, not the Hyatt. They are cute, but ours was NOT clean. The mixing bowl was filthy, the bed skirt on one of the beds was soiled, the dining chairs were sticky, etc. I am glad that I brought a canister of cleaning wipes because I had to scour the floors myself, scrub behind the toilet, and wipe down the whole cabin. Again- absolutely FILTHY! I get that this is a camping cabin- I am a reasonable person, but to the person(s) cleaning the cabins- show a little effort! The previous guests' shower towel was also left behind on our towel bar. Yuck! Kitchenette also smelled fishy. For $295+ per night, I thought this was a bit much considering the Palazzo (a 5-star hotel in Vegas) is about the same rate depending on time of year. Apples and oranges comparison, yes- but Parcher's rates are a bit much for what you get. Just my opinion. And you are given departure instructions for stripping your own bed, washing dishes, etc. Insects/mosquitos were not an issue for us, however, one of the screens was in disrepair and so we had to deal with a lot of flies. Very quaint stream and pack-trail behind our cabin. Loved it! Ambiance here is awesome- lush, green, and mostly quiet. Guests seemed very respectful and observant of quiet hours which are 10PM to 7AM. One night we did hear faint music- which was we thought was a bit outlandish. I mean, it's ok to enjoy music but keep the volume to your own ears. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here and guests appeared very respectful with keeping barking at a minimum, keeping dogs on leash (yes, it's CA state law, folks), and picking up after them. Nice fire pit that we used each evening AND cooked on- we brought our own wood and charcoal briquets but remember to "buy it where you burn it" so that you don't transport invasive pests from another area. Bring a grill basket too if you're going to cook over the fire. I was also pleased that most guests seemed to be very respectful and observant of "light pollution." In other words, when you retire for the evening, turn off your outside/porch lights! It was nice that most guests were sensitive to this "unspoken rule." My only suggestion to the resort would be is to GET WI-FI! Offering Starlink to your guests would be a huge plus. I get that most of us are enjoying an off-grid experience but it should be our discretion (as adults and paying guests) whether or not we choose to be off-grid. Some of us have health issues, allergies, business, or other things requiring attention back home. Wifi and cell service is not a luxury anymore, rather a necessity for safety. With the resort currently being offered for sale, I have made the inference that perhaps staff is "backing off" a bit on the attention to detail that was perhaps applied in years past. Would we come back? Offer Starlink, clean the cabins well, and re-visit your rates and perhaps we will! You've got a wonderful resort- give it the love it deserves!

Get a hotel in Mammoth or Bishop and drive to a hot spring. Any bad review is obviously from some city snob expecting room service and an on-site michelin rated dining option. Yes it's cold in the Sierra, even when it's sweltering during the day it's cold at night. Yes it's remote with zero options for walking distance food. Yes there are bugs when you go outside (sometimes even inside). Yes there is no cell service, gasp, you have to bring a book or games or heaven forbid talk to the people you came with. I can't understand how anyone has it in them to come to the middle of nowhere and then complain about being in the middle of nowhere! Or to complain about the temps when we all have a weather app on our phone. Plan people!! Gather up your best survival skills and bring food, water, warm clothes, bug spray, books, games and a desire to bring it back to the days this place was founded. It's not even that drastic folks. There is running water, flushing toilets, food and gas within a couple miles. There is potable water, all the kitchen and bathroom amenities, extra blankets, heated floors, fans and hot spring tubs!! There is even wifi, satellite dishes and TV's if you are a screen junky. What more can you ask for?! Now that that's out of the way. We really enjoyed our stay at the Conway house. Had absolutely everything we needed and some. Very clean and well decorated. We brought games and books expecting to be totally old school for the length of our stay. But were pleasantly surprised when we were able to stream on our laptop in bed one evening. The tub may be too hot when it's hot outside and too cold in the morning if you don't turn up the stream overnight. Plan accordingly. Test it first and adjust the inlet to your liking. It doesn't take long to cool or heat. Don't dive in like a schmuck without testing the water....sound advice for life! Certain times of the year there are more bugs than others. Close the doors behind you and bring bug spray or citronella candles. Don't be a schmuck and complain about bugs outdoors, that's where they live! Do your part in keeping them outside by closing the doors and checking that the window screens don't have tears. Let someone know if you find a compromised screen. We didn't encounter one rude person. Neither staff nor guest. If you are courteous, quiet and respectful you will most likely receive the same treatment. The only complaint is the bed in the Conway house is old, stiff and loud, could use an upgrade. Don't come here looking for some fancy schmancy lively boom town. It's far from that. It's quant, quiet, rich in historical value and a great place for a little quality time with loved ones. Can be extremely romantic too if you aren't a snob. We will definitely be back! Thank you to the family for sharing this wonderfully rich slice of history with us. Absolutely appalled by some of these reviews.
