Vegetarian - Impossible Melt. The flipped buttered bun is a nice touch.
Ron R.

*** Vegetarian Review *** Saw them on Good Day Sac (May 28) promoting $5 National Burger Day. They had all their burgers displayed, including the Impossible. We changed our lunch plans only to get turned away at the counter. When we ordered, the counter staff said he didn't think it was included in promotion. He went back to talk to the manager and said ... "The promotion doesn't include Impossible because of the price difference." We explained we saw the promotion piece on Good Day Sac and all their burgers were showcased, never mentioning Impossible was excluded. "We can't do it" So, we left. I looked at the promotional poster on the way out and the small print doesn't show any exclusions either, but didn't feel in the National Burger Mood any longer. Taco Wednesday at the nearby Dos Coyote. As much as I want to support local businesses, the lack of simple communication between ownership/employees to anticipate vegetarians might want to participate really bugs the heck out of me so we won't be coming back. Plus, the last time we came here, they messed up our order. Fries instead of tater tots. And no side sauces. Wishing them well.

I was really excited to try Wayback Burgers, but the lack of taste and flavor in the food left me disappointed. The restaurant is located at the Marketplace in Davis and has a very nice exterior. The interior is also good with nice decorations and a clean eating area. The menu looks great with a number of different burgers to try as well as stuff like tots, fries, and milkshakes. I always love a tasty burger so I went with the cajun. Cajun burgers usually bring it with a nice little kick along with the savory burger ingredients. Service was pretty quick and I got my food in a relatively fast amount of time. Unfortunately this is where my disappointment began. The taste of the food overall was missing. The texture, the look, everything else was spot on but the meat just lacked flavor. If I were to rank my items by flavor it would be the burger in last place, the fries in the middle, and my Cherry Coke at the top and tasting as it should. A few friends of mine had actually mentioned to me that they felt this restaurant missed on some of its tastes, but it was shocking to me to experience it first hand. From this first experience, I'm not sure I'd return anytime soon.

This is a new burger spot that opened up in the Marketplace. I saw it while doing some shopping and came back to try it out. Cajun burger: C+ Burger is well put together and the textures are good, but the beef patty is under seasoned. There also isn't a strong Cajun flavor. Fries: B- Your standard fries, they taste fine but get a little soggy for takeout. Chicken tenders: B Honestly I enjoyed the chicken the most out of everything I tried so far. Good strips of chicken and the sauces are quality. Creole remoulade is fantastic. Only downside is the breading got very soggy for takeout. Cheese curds: B- I loved these cheese curds, but the portion is quite abysmal for the price. Clean interior, slow service, not really a good value for the price. Convenient ordering online though, hopefully there is some improvement as they get established here.

Summary: You see those Burger King or McDonald's commercials with those really beauitful looking burgers on TV? The burgers here actually look like those! Taste great too. Worth at least a visit to try it out if you like burgers! Pros: - Taste of the burgers is very solid. True to name of the restaurant, the burgers are very classic with no gimmicks. - Decent value for size of the burger, one burger + fries + drink was pretty filling. - Great service, everyone was very nice and answered all of our questions. - Very clean storefront! Cons: - Buns look a little sad? Taste was fine though. - Burger size is a little smaller than other Davis non-fastfood burger joints (value is still good as it's priced accordingly). - Although I think the patties taste great, I think some of the more "exotic" titled burgers like the Cajun could use a bit more spices. It tasted very similar to the Classic with just different toppings. NOTE - if you're signing up for the rewards program, don't use your Apple ID because it won't let you verify your email address.

I've been to Wayback Burgers a few times. The food is tasty and well cooked. Burgers were the perfect size for lunch. Fries are not overly salty. My favorite were the onion rings - crispy and delicious! My son enjoys the Oreo milkshake. Calm ambience inside the restaurant. It seems like most people are doing pick up orders so the inside is not overcrowded. Food was delivered hot and we waited a reasonable amount of time.

ZESTY CHIPOTLE CHICKEN WRAP

Wraps were decently priced and tasted pretty standard, but nothing too special. The establishment itself is kept well clean and offers a small student discount for university students, making it a decent place for catching a bite if you happen to be in the area. Service was very friendly and took a reasonable amount of time to prepare my food.

The classic burger was delicious and filling. Came with 2 patties, medium rare and you can add add'l fillings at no cost. The Cajun sauce was yummy! The fries are good, perfectly seasoned. The meat is not frozen, fresh. The fries with bacon cheese and. A bunch of goodness was packed! Service was fast. It gets full during lunch hour.

Happy to try this new place! I ordered online and the food was ready when it said it would be (always appreciated)! Food was super hot - burgers are made fresh to order. I ordered a couple of single burgers (I had one that I customed with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onion and chipotle mayo). I also ordered two classic burgers (double patties) for my family- these were huge and had leftovers. Fries have skins on them. Vanilla shakes were creamy and rich, topped with whipped cream.

Was craving a burger today and I found this new spot. I was looking in DoorDash and I saw this place so I decided to drive down and check it out. The pictures on the website and DoorDash made it seem like the burgers were going to be big and juicy and that was not the case. This place is a little pricey, I got the bourbon cheese burger, a hotdog, order of regular cheese curds and a regular fountain drink and it came out to just over $30. The hotdog was decent, I fixed it up to be as close to a Chicago dog as I could, I was just missing the celery salt and chili peppers. They serve the hot dog cut right down the middle which was odd to me. The burger was mid. The burger patty is kind of dry and has no flavor. They don't season the burger with anything when they cook it. At least add some salt and pepper. Overall this place is okay.

Good size wings. Good flavor. We got ours with Ranch... note, the dressing was a bit on the watery side. Crispy onion ($6.99) - extremely crispy crust... cannot even taste the onion. If you like fried batter, this is for you. Goes well with the Ranch dressing. I got the chili onion burger ($11.99). Messy as heck...decided to go the civilized route... ate it with a knife and for...saving the top bun to mop up any leftover chili. Love the raw white onions and cheese on top. Good flavor, bean to beef ratio is pretty good. Bathrooms are located past the video games... mens room on the right and women's room to the left. Men's room had only 1 sink/ 2 urinals and 2 stalls. They were out of soap when we were there. Room was spacious and clean. The restrooms appeared to be shared by both the bar and restaurant.

We got there right at opening and the server/hostess, Aurora, greeted us with a warm smile and welcome. There are two choices of spots to sit at - low tables/booths or high top tables with stools. We opted for a low table. I ordered the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries and my friend ordered the Chinichurri Tri-Tip sandwich with a side salad. When our meals came out, we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes! I feel like I had a lot of fries on my plate and the sandwich was stuffed with meat! The side salad and tri-tip was pretty hefty too. My sandwich was DELICIOUS! I was only able to eat half so I left with half for lunch the next day. My friend was the same. I love when I can get two meals out of one!! The restaurant carries a very fun vibe. I can imagine it is so lively when it is packed! There is an area in the back that gives off a speakeasy vibe. The place itself is really nice. The scenery is cute, modern, and has a great vibe, especially for brunch or special occasions. It definitely feels like a spot you would want to celebrate at or take pictures in. However, the food did not live up to my expectations. My potatoes tasted pretty bland and could have used more seasoning. I also ordered pancakes, and they just were not cooked to perfection. They felt slightly overcooked and not as soft or buttery as I was hoping for. I really think they could have added more butter or richness to bring the dish together. The wait was also pretty long, and for me, it did not feel worth it in the end. The overall style reminds me a bit of Crepeville, but with a more modern look. That being said, I would personally rather spend my money at Crepeville and get better quality food. Overall, the atmosphere is really sweet and enjoyable, but the food just did not hit for me this time. Maybe I did not order the right thing, so I might be open to trying it again, but based on this visit, I was not fully impressed.

If you know, it is already incredibly hard taking an autistic child to a restaurant. The manager thought it was ok to tell my 13 year old to put on my autistic son's shoes..... As my son is screaming and heaving a full meltdown over shoes now, the manager continues to apologize because there were possibly glass shards on the ground in his restaurant. I will never eat here and will make sure to let all my friends with and without kids with disabilities to never eat here. What an unacceptable excuse this place made me and my family feel. You'll see the truck around Sacramento and Davis. I tried them out a few weeks ago. I asked the cashier what was their best seller. He mentioned that they are known for their lamb. Well they are called Smokin'Ewe BBQ. So I gave that a try. I have had lamb before but never smoked BBQ. My order came out quickly. All the hot items came out hot and the cold was cold as it should be. The lamb was sliced thin. All so tender, melt in your mouth texture and tenderness. Lamb in general is gamey tasting. This lamb had the typical gamey taste with a deep bbq smokiness. At first bite, my tastebuds were confused. After several bites, they connected to my brain and luvin it. Traditional lamb flavors melded with smoky BBQ goodness. The plate came with potato salad, baked beans, and a bread roll. I also received a container of what looked like sauce that resembled a herb seasoned sour cream. Being LI, I didn't eat it. The potato salad was traditional and served deliciously chilled. Luved it. I forgot to ask if the beans contained HFCS, so I passed on eating it. It looked and smelled good though. They had other menu items besides lamb such as tri tip, brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and hot links served as an entree plate $19 or a sandwich $14. 3 ribs $10. Mac n cheese $8-14. Sides $7.
