I refill my vehicle twice weekly at this gas Wawa. Every time I come in the staff is always friendly and exceptionally helpful. Mr. Drew and his team give 100% every time. I'm one time I couldn't open up a bag of sunflower seeds that I purchased and the sweet cashier behind the counter pulled out this tool specifically for opening bags and opened it for me. Another time I couldn't get my gas cap off and Mr. Drew came out to the gas pump and provided assistance. Th e store, parking lot and bathrooms are always clean. If you expect it to be correct as you ordered it, there's no quality assurance in the store multiple times I have ordered food and it was not placed in the bag and sent with the order or drinks not sent with the order or when the food comes the toppings that were requested are not on the order they don't care they don't pay attention to detail and they don't respond to emails to fix the problem. It's a shame because this used to be one of the best Wawa's in Tidewater pretty sad when you order a five item order, and you can't get five items. All the workers were very busy stocking shelves and food items but that didn't stop them from getting my food out to me in a short time. This place is an absolute train wreck of a place. Don't get me wrong, I like Wawa but this location is completely disorganized. The staff just completely ignore everyone and get mad when you persist because you've been waiting for 30 minutes. Then they'll say, "Oh well we're out of that item." Okay cool? A long overdue update for my local WaWa. The infrastructure had been looking a little worn, so the great news is they just completed a total remodel that looks great! For almost ten years I have frequented this WaWa more than any other and I do like the chain. When comparing others to this location it's not even close. It's that much better. The parking lot is more than large enough to accommodate a crowd. Nothing was compromised under the remodel. On this mornings visit it was clear of debris, sidewalk too! This is pretty norm and I love. The store has always been organized and clean. One thing that is a drawback at times is the back up to checkout. However, they are usually very quick. The food is not something I get. But the sandwiches have a strong reputation and this part with its update looks fantastic! I hit the coffee bar up early and it's always stocked. You can also get specialty coffee. This area is staffed on its own and has been overall strong! The only area of expansion was the beer. They added a walk-in Beer Cooler. This will be a big hit for Chicks Beach this Summer. Exterior has been freshly painted. The pumps got all new signage that looks spiffy. Paper is kept full for receipts too! Not once have I had to make that aggravating walk inside to ask for a receipt. Most of the time the pump areas are clean and trash is kept within their boundaries. This is HUGE!!! How happy was I when Wawa finally made it to Hampton Roads!! And even more wonderful was that they came to my neighborhood, then kept adding store after store after store. We love Wawa. But let's backtrack. I discovered Wawa many years ago on one of my quickie drives to DC/NoVA. An intermediate gas & rest stop was needed before joining the traffic fray of tourists & those who chose life in the burbs or exurbs. A Fredericksburg exit seemed perfect. Voila!! My first Wawa came into immediate sight. I quickly learned that this store always had the cheapest fuel that could be found on the drive. My very first Wawa still remains the only stop on my wild & rapid I-95 jaunts. But, back to my Shore Drive Wawa and the remainder of Wawa's Virginia Beach offerings. The fuel prices are consistently good. Their many gas islands are laid out for efficiency & ease. The mix of prepared food & grocery items is great. There is no doubt that those who want to eat fast but also healthy will be made happy. The prepared sandwiches are inviting as are the individual servings of fruit. Many offerings are nicely placed to add to your quickie food choices. Today in a mad dash through the store to choose several days of lunch choices for an elderly relative, I added cheeses and very appetizing and fresh yogurt choices. Yogurt topped with crushed Oreo cookies seemed a great choice to bring a smile to his face. But the very best food choices are in the deli/hot sandwich section that runs the length of one side of the store. Craft your sandwich, made completely to order, on one of a number of easy to use computer screens. When you have finalized the order a printer spits out a ticket. Go to the register to pay & have your ticket stamped, first having chosen a beverage if that is your desire. By the time you walk back to the deli, your sandwich is ready. And they are good. I actually had a Christmas dinner sandwich at this Wawa on the day of our Christmas Day blizzard a few years ago. It was to be a really fun & different Christmas based at a hotel in Center City Philly. But a nasty weather report, predicting a foot of snow in Norfolk, stopped that in mid stream. I packed my luggage & Uncle into the car, kissed my son & his wife goodbye, and headed for the Eastern Shore at a break neck speed. The snow started in Delaware, rapidly turning into blizzard conditions. The roads became treacherous but I was determined to persevere. Absolutely nothing was open except the large fuel/convenience stores. The one at which I stopped for a breather was giving away free coffee to anyone crazy enough to travel in the weather conditions we were experiencing. I thought a vanilla latte was going to be the sum of Christmas Dinner. Never was I happier to see the CBBT & amazingly there was no longer snow falling. Back in my comfort zone I pulled off on Shore Drive & was amazed to see the Wawa open. It was the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I ever had. Just as we pulled away, the snow started falling. The food offerings at Wawa are vast & varied. At the back of the check-out counter in the mornings you will find an array of assorted hot breakfast sandwiches. Sharing their space are amazingly good soft pretzels. The cream cheese stuffed pretzel is awesome. The quality of the food, display cases, layout, store decor, offering assortment and pretty much everything about Wawa is a giant step above other fuel/convenience centers. You won't find motor oil, road maps or tacky mirror hangers. What you will find is a nice selection of convenience grocery items, prepared & made to order food, a plethora of beverages, both case and fountain, and reasonably priced fuel. The grand finale of this overly long review is the icing on the cake. Wawa's made to order food deli is a spot one should consider for a take-out lunch. When I go into an establishment and the employees act like they don't give a fuck, I can't help but feel that perhaps they should be fired so they don't have to be upset that they're at work. The blonde young lady at the counter was very rude. Her attitude is nasty and she is very standoffish. The only good thing about this place is how quickly the folks at the sandwich bar work. We love this Wawa. It's the 2nd closest one to our house. On Thursdays we like to come in for their subs. This Wawa is super neat and always clean. I've ever been in here and anything looked out of place.The cashiers and the folks who prepare the food are always pleasant. I love their drinks too. Yum!! They have great chicken quesedillas too. I get screwed over at this location every time I come. Order a meatball sub pay for it and then they tell me they're out of meat balls. WTF! ‍ this happens regularly. The staff sucked. Waited 15 minutes for them to call my number and tell me they're out of meatballs. Said they could fill it with steak instead. It would be the same. It's not. Today is one of the biggest travel day in all of the land....Thanksgiving Day! I usually wouldn't write a review for a gas station but need to give credit where it is due. Came in this morning to the Shore Dr. Location to order my usual custom made Sizzli (1/2 English muffin + egg + Ham + Cheese) If you've never had one I highly recommend! Not only low carb but high in protein. My review is not about food or the coffee but about the people working this morning. As you know most of us are off today, except for a few in the service industry. When I entered the store today everyone was smiling and exuberated this positive vibe that can't me faked. When I say everyone, I mean everyone: from the cashier to the coffee attendant... Most would think that employees would be a little bitter to be working on turkey day. Seriously, I wouldn't be shocked to walk into a WaWa some day in need of dress socks and find out that they are tucked away at the end of Aisle 2, right next to the Cool Ranch Doritos and the Tidy Cat Cat litter. My excuse to stop in today was to get some chocolate. A giant double sized Snickers to be precise (because I'm just not myself without boatloads of chocolate on a Saturday). Sadly, WaWa seems to have ripped off a page from Best Buy in that I had someone walk past and ask if I needed any help! What, finding the chocolate stash? Really? You wanna think about that question again? Then, while that experience was just sinking in, another one comes past with a tray full of drink samples in glasses the size of communion glasses, asking me if I want a sample of the coffee! Really? I ordered a sausage, egg & cheese breakfast burrito and my wife grabbed a pepperoni & provolone bagel. No problems with the food. They have a really good selection at this location as well. Fresh fruit cups, sandwiches & snacks as well as what you can get to order. They also have a nice selection of coffee and it was fresh. If you are in the area and you gotta have a Wawa, then go get some. This place has a better selection than the neighboring 7-Eleven. read more

There is plenty to like about WaWa. The gas is usually among the cheapest and the coffee isn't bad most days. Once in a while I'll grab a pot that has been sitting on the burner too long. When this happens all I want to do is go make out with a chain smoker so I can get the burnt taste out of my mouth. But that doesn't happen very often. For food, they have a surprising array of options. You can go for the made to order gut bombs all laden with meat and melted cheese or you can choose something from their pre-made selection of wraps and salads. Combine one of these healthier options with an apple, a small bag of pre-cut carrots or a yogurt and you can actually convince yourself you are eating healthy. That way I don't feel bad when I stop at Judy's Sichuan on the way home and pick up a dinner conisting of her chicken and chili or braised pork belly with pickled cabbage. Success in life is all about properly planning your day. And by the way...I'm only giving it four stars because it's a freaking gas station! read more

Wawa is my favorite convenient store to go to! It is the epitome of convenience!! While I leave the gas pump to fill up my car, I go in the store, and use their touch screen to order a delish hot sandwich. I then grab the ticket order and then shop around the store for drinks or other snacks. By the time I pay for everything, my sandwich is ready for me and I can either eat it in the store at one of their tables or take it with me. They even have fresh bananas that are pricey, but hey, they sure are convenient! I also love their smart food island full of fruit, veggies, cheese, yogurt, etc. You can even make your own blend of non-alcoholic frozen drinks! Wawas are always well lighted, clean and safe.
