I saw the sushi chef making them by hand when I came in. His name is EZ and he's the new sushi chef. He was friendly and answered all my questions about the ingredients, particularly which rolls were dairy free so I could get some for my wife too. I bought the Crunchy CA roll and ate it an hour later at work. It was good quality, pretty close to restaurant quality in my opinion. Very tasty and with the $6. They also had a great deal on Nature's Own Honeywheat bread ($1.49) going on through the weekend. Overall the location is very clean, the staff is nice, and I'll be back soon!

The space has had a number of occupants over the years. When we moved to Virginia Beach, it was an A&P. That gave water to a Farm Fresh. Both were long term grocers who eventually went out of business. The space was emptied for a while as Haygood Shopping Center underwent a massive face lift in anticipation of Harris Teeter. Having previously shopped at their store near Sam's Club on Virginia Beach Boulevard I anticipated the opening. But the reality brought a lack of customer service in the spacious store with wide aisles. For years I never considered shopping at Harris Teeter. Lately I've reevaluated that choice. I've found they have my favorite flavor of high protein yogurt. Their produce is fresh & full of flavor. A big plus is their distilled water in the type of container that's easy to maneuver. It's also priced right. Harris Teeter is definitely is a step above a number of the chain grocers in Coastal Virginia. But it's a step below others, lacking the prepared or ready to prepare entrees that make life so much easier. I'm happy I rediscovered Harris Teeter. It's nice to add another store to my shopping mix.

No debris in sight. A staff person is in the nearby building if assistance is needed. The best part is saving with your Harris Teeter rewards card. I saved 50 cents today. If you shop Harris Teeter at Haygood check them out. You do not have to be a member of their loyalty program to use. However it's a breeze to sign up and save more.

I pull up to the gas station and I notice the attendant sitting down and watching tv or her phone in the back which I don't see as a problem with because she got up as soon as she seen me step up to the window. I advised her I wanted $25 dollars on pump 17 and I put in my telephone number which lets the attendant know how many gas points I have that I could use to pay for my fuel,as soon as I gave her my credit card she swiped it ( here I am standing waiting for her to tell me how much I had available( referring to the gas points you receive for shopping at Kroger and Harris Teeter, most of us if not all know what I'm talking about ) she returned my card and my receipt without even asking me about the points. I was kind of disappointed because when I got fuel this past Monday I had .20 off so I knew I had more available to redeem. I don't want to put her name out there because I don't want to cause any problems but I want Kroger to enlighten their employees so this doesn't happen to anyone else,we all want the option to save money so that's my point I'm trying to get across. I didn't give 5 stars only because this is the first time this has happened to me!. No big deal but I just wanted to put this matter out in the open.

During my visit, I was picking up a few specific items, including produce, fresh pasta, and Kroger's exclusive Banana Nut M&M's. I found my produce right away, but I had a little trouble locating the fresh pasta since it had been moved. After asking for assistance, I eventually found it in its new location. The highlight of my visit was the customer service. When I couldn't find the Banana Nut M&M's, another associate didn't just point me toward an aisle--he actually walked over with me, searched the shelves, and helped me find them. I really appreciated that extra effort. It's always nice when someone takes the time to make sure you find exactly what you're looking for. Checking out was just as pleasant. The cashier was friendly, and the two young men bagging my groceries did a fantastic job organizing everything. My produce was packed together, fragile items were handled with care, and everything was bagged thoughtfully. One of the reasons I keep coming back to Kroger is the quality of their produce and meat department. Even though I didn't shop the meat counter during this visit, it's one of my favorite departments in the store. I also love taking advantage of Kroger Delivery whenever they offer free delivery promotions--it's such a convenient option. Overall, this location continues to provide a great shopping experience with friendly employees who genuinely want to help. That's why it's one of my go-to grocery stores.

My wife and I have been ordering pickup through Instacart at this location for two years (picking…read moreup our own groceries, I am not an Instacart Shopper) and EVERY TIME, we wait for a long period of time and then have to go inside to track someone down to get our order. This happens on a weekly basis. And I learned yesterday that this happens because they prioritize Food Lion app orders over Instacart orders and treat Instacart customers like an inconvenience. After I had waited ten minutes without anyone collecting my groceries, they instantly brought an order out to someone who pulled up ten minutes after me. Yesterday was ridiculous. I waited for ten minutes because the Instacart app said that someone was gathering our groceries. I was the only car waiting until about the ten minute mark when another car arrived. I went inside to ask the Food Lion To Go employee how much longer it would be, and she said she was grabbing my order. I went and shopped for an item that I left off my order and then circled back around to the To Go area where I saw they had a cart full, which I thought was surely mine, so I went back out to my car. It wasn't my order. They rolled the cart out to the lady who had pulled up ten minutes after me! When I asked how she got her order before I did when I had been waiting ten minutes longer, the employee said "it doesn't work that way, you two ordered from different apps." How does that matter? I went back inside to make sure that my order was being worked and got an attitude from the attendant for being irritated by this ridiculously poor experience. So I guess what I learned is that if you want your order to be treated with urgency, you must use the Food Lion app. I don't use the Food Lion app because they charge a fee per order. It is less expensive to use Instacart+ at $100 a year than pay Food Lion's per order fee for the weekly orders I place. And I can use Instacart at many other stores. And that is exactly what I will do. Take my business to a store that doesn't treat me like an inconvenience.
