This is one of my favorite Kroger locations. It's tucked away in the shopping center, always feels clean and organized, and I consistently have good experiences here. During my visit, I was picking up a few specific items, including produce, fresh pasta, and Kroger's exclusive Banana Nut M&M's. I found my produce right away, but I had a little trouble locating the fresh pasta since it had been moved. After asking for assistance, I eventually found it in its new location. The highlight of my visit was the customer service. When I couldn't find the Banana Nut M&M's, another associate didn't just point me toward an aisle--he actually walked over with me, searched the shelves, and helped me find them. I really appreciated that extra effort. It's always nice when someone takes the time to make sure you find exactly what you're looking for. Checking out was just as pleasant. The cashier was friendly, and the two young men bagging my groceries did a fantastic job organizing everything. My produce was packed together, fragile items were handled with care, and everything was bagged thoughtfully. One of the reasons I keep coming back to Kroger is the quality of their produce and meat department. Even though I didn't shop the meat counter during this visit, it's one of my favorite departments in the store. I also love taking advantage of Kroger Delivery whenever they offer free delivery promotions--it's such a convenient option. Overall, this location continues to provide a great shopping experience with friendly employees who genuinely want to help. That's why it's one of my go-to grocery stores. read more

5 minutes from home and a great store to stop in for last minute items needed for a new recipe you are trying or for all of your grocery needs. Produce is fresh, store is clean and well stocked. There are several self checkout lanes. All of the Cashiers are nice and friendly. I'm not a fan of self checkout but will use it if the lines are long in Cashier lanes and I have just a few items. Fuel points are another reason I like Kroger. Right now with the cost of gas, every cent off per gallon is welcomed. read more

I am new the area and have been to this store twice this month. Both times it was dirty and smelled like rotting food when I walked in the entrance near the Pharmacy. It is very cluttered and doesn't have a great selection unfortunately. read more

A long overdue downgrade of my go to grocery store. A steady decline has occurred over the past year and I can no longer ignore, or leave up a glowing 5 star review. Leaving such a stellar review in place is a disservice to the yelp community. Almost five years ago the entire store underwent a pseudo remodel. No doubt a lot of money was put in the reworking of exterior sign, paint and interior. The whole store was reset and looked pretty fresh. Surprising at the time was used refrigerated equipment and other equipment not replaced. Over the past year especially the lipstick on a pig has vanished and the market looks downright rough! This is especially true of the refrigeration area that has doors broken, leaking etc. Today while visiting it looked like a war zone with water, signs and a ladder. In general the store looks dirty and over crowded with displays. The recent addition of Click List has been an expensive failure for Shore Drive's location. It's been in place over six months and is rarely used. Six to eight prime parking spaces are designated for it and sit empty. Let's get to the positive, because I will leave the review as an A-OK for three reasons. The fuel points are a good deal, especially when shopping them exclusively. The Kroger card absolutely is worth getting and saves our family on an average of $15 - $20 weekly on a $150-$175 bill. Finally the staff and customer service has continued to be above average. Especially Lotta in customer service who has went out of her way on several occasions to help. Checkout often using self checkout works flawlessly. Today I went out of my way to ask a staff person if the store is due up for a fresh makeover. She chuckled and said basically Kroger is broke after purchasing all of the local now closed Farm Fresh stores. I think they bit off more they they can chew obviously. Starting this week our family will begin to mix in a nearby Food Lion that had a fantastic renovation utilizing brand new equipment throughout the store. It's too bad it's come to this with the Shore Drive Kroger. 2.5, rounding up and for gosh sakes get your act together. read more

Big store. Huge parking lot. Kroger gas station in the parking lot. Very large section devoted to beer and wine. Grocery purchases allow for gas discounts. Something is always on sale. read more

This has always been my grocery store of choice, regardless of it's failings, because I am loyal to Kroger & this is the closest one to my house. That said, the other two Kroger's where I periodically shop (Republic Drive & Virginia Beach Boulevard) are so, so so much better. Today was the worst experience ever. I didn't feel well at all, but forced myself to go to Kroger because I was out of everything, not having gone grocery shopping in three weeks. It was all I could manage to make it through the store, picking up the essentials as quickly as possible. Check out requires one to put all the items on a conveyor belt & I had a lot of things. So I was very relieved when that task was over. When the cashier finished, he kept hitting keys in the computer & finally summoned a supervisor. She looked at me & abruptly said, "The computer is frozen up. You'll have to check out again." Without a second look she rebooted the computer & walked off. I dejectedly made my way to the last checkout counter, expecting someone to at least take the groceries out of the bags & put them on the conveyor. But no one in the store offered help. The cashier just looked at me, waiting for me to start. I always bring reusable bags from customer friendly Whole Foods & Trader Joe's. I had 6 of those bags, each filled to the brim. I had to lift each to the conveyor belt & take every item out. The cashier let each emptied bag slide down the conveyor & into the groceries. It's a wonder any of them are still intact. Then he haphazardly rebagged my purchases, mixing items that should have been separated. One was so heavy I could barely get it into the car. Yes, it was a struggle to get the bags into my hour, then my house. I've put the now half frozen items into the freezer and have left the non perishables to put up later. Was the trip worth it? With the exception of having nothing I wanted for breakfast, I would say no. As usual they were out of many items. A few of my regular purchases no longer had a shelf space. Have they stopped carrying them? The hot food bar, as usual, was half filled. The items there were dry & unappetizing from lack of care. The hot food bars at the Republic Drive & Virginia Beach Boulevard stores are yummy & well stocked. Why is this store so different? Certainly it's very busy, especially on the weekend. But it doesn't meet the standards I expect from my Kroger shopping days in Atlanta & Cincinnati. I think I'll rest now. read more

I often go there to buy organic vegetables. They have much cheaper organic products than other stores. Much cheaper than the little creek commisary. And much fresher. Not only vegetables and fruits but also eggs, meat, soy milk and etc... The staffs are friendly and helpful. I've shopped there for almost two years and I didn't know a thing. Their gas is sometimes cheaper than military bases. Every time you use your code, minus 3cents. How come I didn't know this for this long?!?!?!? Little creek base 2.1499 Kroger's sign 2.1599 W/ value customer code 2.1299 I know it's a small difference but think about it for a long run. A big difference eventually! Also I remember one more good thing. They sometimes sell the wine Josh at a pretty good deal. If you buy six, you get an extra discount. Much cheaper than Nex exchange. read more

There is a food lion closer but this Kroger makes me go the extra mile, literally. It isn't a huge store, but they typically have the items I want, sometimes more often a better stock than the Wal-Mart superstore I frequent sometimes. The store is always clean and bright and the staff is super friendly. Also, the deli area always has some fresh made pre-packaged sushi rolls that make my dinners an easy pick when I'm close by. read more

I wrote a review a couple of years ago after getting tired of avoiding pallets on the floor (restocking). I was told they do restock over night but not sure it's true. I shop on the weekends as most people do. Today I literally left my cart in an out of the way place and walked through isles to get items. Please get rid of displays in the isles!! I understand you have companies wanting to advertise but it's too crowded! I attempted to buy a birthday card and could barely get to the area. And I blocked others from trying to buy cards because only one cart could fit. It's awful. If I had another store closer to me, I would stop buying from Kroger. Love the deals, gas points etc.. but I DRED shopping here. Please, we know where to find our favorite products. I don't need giant displays everywhere taking up room, making shopping unbearable. Produce, same. I cannot reach any vegetables because stockers are taking up the entire isle. There has to be another way. Everyone is nice and helpful. Your employees are not the problem. It's your vendor displays!! read more

I have complained before. They advertise something on sale with card.Nowhere on the sales sign or their flyer does it say digital coupon required. They ring you up and when you show them the flyer, they just shrug and say Sorry.I made them take off 8 sodas, holding up the line.I told them, this was false advertising.I like their store but get your act together.I just wonder how many people were cheated this way.I used to do this for a living so I am aware of all the gimmicks.I might go back for other things but if they pull this again, I will go elsewhere. read more

The fact that I see Kroger hire such amazing people is so heart warming. They certainly don't have to do that, but they do and that makes me feel like there is still hope for humanity. Food: Love the Sushi at Kroger! GLUTEN: This is a general recommendation for all grocery stores really... I wish it was easier to Identify food that was not made with Gluten. I don't mean Gluten Free, I mean it's not in the ingredients. For those of us with just sensitivity (Who don't have Ciliacs) it would be nice to have a big Ol sign that said "Does not contain Gluten!" That way I don't have to spend 3 hours looking at ingredients of anything I'm not familiar with. read more

I am glad that I get paid $17 an hour minimum wage in the state of California. I don't know how these people here can get paid so little when there's a lot of hard work being done. I am a hospitality liaison in San Diego. When I walk around this place, it makes me sad because it looks like there's only one person in the deli working one person in the meat department working, and one in the seafood department when there should be two. It's not fair for one worker to have to do all of it so I would recheck your scheduling with your works so you always have two people at the meat department, the deli department and the seafood department. Just remember managers and store store managers that you were once working from the bottom up to management. And you sometimes felt you were being taken advantage by the management. When you were beginning your job there .Or you weren't being heard as an employee or you have your hours and then your hours would get cut without you even knowing it when you're trying to survive living a life. I personally think all your workers should get a raise because of the hard work that they do. And I think there should be a huddle time like we do with the restaurants so everybody can be on the same page. It's teamwork as a dream work not one person working that does it all. Please give them all a raise. They all deserve it their hard workers. They all need pay raise. I think if you were the floor manager or the store manager check in with your workers. And see if they need some help instead of just sitting in your office or at the service desk chipper jab when you can be with your employees and helping them out. read more

I know, I know.. "All Kroger locations are the same." But are they? For some reason, this location seems to be the winner of Krogers. I'm not even a big fan of Krogers in general, but if around this area, I'll def stop by. It all started because of my love affair with Blue Bell ice cream (banana pudding, come back to me!) - but eventually developed as they have a few Portuguese sausages and chouriços (yes, that is the correct spelling) that I can't seem to find anywhere else. Oh, did I say I can't wait for them to bring back Blue Bell ice cream? read more

Today I went to the store with my husband to pick up just a few quick things. There was a sign above their produce that advertised a sale price for cucumbers and green bell peppers at 2 for $1. My husband and I thought it was a great price for bell peppers so we grabbed a couple and went about our shopping. However, while we were at the produce, we also noticed that there was another tag directly on the green bells that said 89cents each. Now, having worked in a grocery store, I know that with other posted signage with the company logo, we were guaranteed the lower price and then after the transaction the company could do away with the sign if the sign was wrong. So I wasn't worried. (Keep in mind it would have been a total savings of a whopping 78 cents so either way it wouldn't break the bank.) During our total trip we only gathered a few items so we went to a self checkout hoping that the bells would scan at the correct price. Of course they didn't. So we asked for assistance and the lady came to help us. She went to price check the item and even though I mentioned the two different and conflicting signs, mentioned that she only saw the one sign for 89 cents each. I explained again that yes, the item is marked for that, and that there was, however, a different sign above the produce that mentioned a weekly add sale sign with the price of 2 for $1. She said she would grab the manager. She then left to page a manager and then I noticed she was on the phone with, I assume the manager, and came back to let me know that it was indeed, 89 cents. I mentioned that it wasn't a problem but that they should look into removing the conflicting information. Unfortunately, I think she may have taken this a little personally because her response was... "hey, it's not me. I'm not the manager." To which I replied, still not angry or upset, that yes. I know. But that she should bring it to the managers attention. We gathered our things and left. Now, I have a much higher tolerance than my husband does for people with poor customer service. But seeing how upset he was, I decided to look up the add. Printed paper. And on the website. It is indeed - 2 for $1. Wow. I'm so disappointed. Now it's not only the customer service rep that I'm saddened by, but the management as well. I will try my hardest not to return to this Kroger. Although I'm sure the business won't be hurt by the lack of my business, it's the principle that matters. Not the minimal business. read more

This is the only retail store (food, auto parts, hardware ect) that the customer must bring in a shopping cart on the way into the store. The majority of the time there are no carts at all in the store ( except for a few that are hopelessly stuck together ) forcing the customer to go back to the parking lot to find a shopping cart. True, some may think that this is no big deal... but for the handicapped, it is and bad weather just compounds things. Quite often I get in the store and find that there are no carts, I then return to the parking lot, where all of the carts are, get in my car and go to the market just down the street...plenty of carts there. I like the staff at Kroger, the prices are ok, the gas points are helpful, but in my (humble) opinion, if the management can't be trusted to handle something as basic as shopping carts, then how can I trust him/her with more serious areas like general cleanliness off the store including areas like the deli, meats / seafood, produce, or any other area which can possibly affect the health and safety of not only the customers but that of the employees as well. I have mentioned this several times but no one listens. Once as I was trying to "unstick" the only two carts in the store, I received a small cut on my arm. Just a boo-boo and I never mentioned it, but what if someone receives a serous cut or crushes a finger.Hmmmmmmmmm To sum it all up this is and has been for years a management problem or the (lack thereof) and no doubt will continue. read more

Kroger - Grocery Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

Great location! One of my offices is located right down the road on Shore drive, so I visit this location frequently on my lunch breaks and after work for a quick trip to grab things for dinner. The store is always clean and the staff is generally pleasant. The selection is great. My one complaint with this store is that they have so much packed in to a small space. Maybe I am used to the Kroger off of Holland that has ample space. I always just feel like I am rubbing elbows with the people around me in this section. It doesn't matter if I am in an isle, checking out, or in produce. I feel so cramped here! That is why I only shop here for short trips and not the big haul. The prices are competitive with the other stores in the area. read more

I came in here for a few items. I did stop by the deli for some cheese. When I got home, I noticed that my cheese had other types of food (I.e. meat) on it! My cheese was white American, and it had brown pieces on it! It was on majority of my cheese, so I threw away half of the cheese that I ordered. I'm disappointed that the deli clerk did not clean the slicing machine before slicing my cheese. Also, this is an older Kroger. It seems run down and cramped. I'll just stick to the newer Kroger Market Place. read more

VERY impressed with the staff here during this pandemic. Everybody is working very hard while masked and are very friendly to boot. I understand now that Kroger has gone 100% masks required now and that is just fine. But the day prior to this requirement I went in and my mask had broken. I was looking in the aisles for a replacement one when I overheard the staff in a sort of meeting complaining about "people like me" not wearing one. I had to interrupt the meeting to actually ask for help in finding one to purchase and was severely glared at by most of the group. However, the manager was more than friendly and pointed me to where I could purchase a new one. Just a little advice...please don't judge everyone who may not have a mask on. Like myself, mine had just broken. I do appreciate that your store does offer free ones now at the door. Very good!! read more

I like Kroger. They always have a great selection of produce. Their organic section is growing that's a plus. I always make it my first stop and it's often the only stop I need to make. This is a smaller Kroger compared to others I've seen. It's very clean and same great prices. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it felt really cramped. Just because it's smaller doesn't mean they should try and put everything in there. I kept knocking over displays and running into people; more often then not, backing my cart up to let someone come out of an aisle and make a turn. I also didn't like that you could only get shopping carts on one side of the store, but there are two entrances...? read more

I love the fact that they carry a wide variety of organic items from produce, to frozen/cooler items, to an entire row of packaged items. This is my go-to stop when I can't make it to Whole Foods. Their prices are fair, but they stopped doubling coupons so that's a thumbs down in my book. As for the people that frequent this place: watch out. Literally every single time I come here there are zombies and trolls walking around, along with probably the grumpiest old men and women you will ever encounter. I always leave and question why I went there in the first place. read more

We started going to this grocery store right after we got married 4 years ago. Our apartment was not that far away and they we just preferred them over gross Food Lion. We ended up moving a little further away 3 years ago and still come here for our shopping. It may not be the fanciest of grocery stores, but the selection is great, the store is always clean and the staff are super nice. Plus I find the prices very reasonable. On a few occasions, we have ventured to other stores and just have not been able to leave Kroger. I love them. Plus now they have a great fuel station. We earn so many points by shopping that I save a lot on gas. Download the app for iPhone and you can customized your Kroger coupons! read more

It's an ok store with some good selections. The only thing I have negative to say is that every single time I don't go through self checkout I end up coming home without all my items. They just go missing. I pay for them, but they never make it into the shopping cart. It's not a money issue. It's having to go all the way back (20 mins one way) to go get items I have already paid for because they got lost in the sauce. read more

This grocery store makes me want to change neighborhoods. Their produce shortages occasionally remind me of being in a third-world country (yes, I'm an arugula-lover; it's the one thing I share in common with America's current President). Both the selection and the quality is subpar and yet expensive. Don't get me started on the state of the bathroom. It won't be pretty. I always suit up for even the quickest trip through Kroger, which is like a Navy Seal-level obstacle course of ill-placed displays, stockboys and customers. No matter what time of day I visit, no matter what aisle I'm in, no matter what I'm reaching for... there is always an army of employees there to body-check me; stocking, blocking and always in the way. Added to that are the double-wide "kiddie" carts and the fleet of walkers and hoverounds from the retirement home next store, with whom Kroger shares a parking lot. If you're surprised that I even gave this store two stars, here are some positives: lightning-fast self-checkout machines (NOTE: the "lightning-fast" applies only to the machines... not necessarily the people using them), a fairly decent olive bar, and the wine expert who makes excellent recommendations. read more

I shop here often and I like the Kroger brand a lot. They've got stuff I like. During the day I come in and staff is usually rude as hell, it's weird. For example I was in line waiting for a cashier and there was only one person in front of me with one item and the sour faced woman who does the self checkout registers during the day barked out "use these!" like it annoyed her I was waiting in line and she gets to tell me what the heck I do. I said no because I think self check out is stupid and she told me to go to another line with more people in it! I think she just enjoys barking orders at people, she has anger wrinkles in her face, probably from a life of talking rudely to people. There was another time a cashier saw me walking up and when I started putting my groceries on the conveyor belt she pulled out some spray and started spraying it down for an impromptu cleaning. She told me to go to another line, she was now busy with her cleaning. So I had to put my groceries back in my basket and go to another line. Just ridiculous. I've had plenty of run of the mill experiences and the staff in the afternoon is polite I just recommend you come in after 4 or so, not sure when the shifts change officially lol. read more

They were extremely pleasant and did a great job at making sure Kroger shoppers feel completely happy and satisfied with every visit. I totally agree with the last reviewer. As you can see by my profile pick, that I know a good Kroger when I see one. But this store is the Kroger that Corporate forgot. I even tried e-mailing them, noting how much I loved the Kroger Marketplace we used to shop at years ago. What?!?! Virginia Beach has never experienced the awesomeness of a Kroger Marketplace? Oh,shoot, that's right, Kroger,Inc. doesn't think that VB is profitable enough for a Marketplace. That's o.k., I can hold out until the Target gets here. I am at a loss to understand why Kroger would spend all that money and time to upgrade the fuel center and NOT do a darned thing to the store! Oh, and the front door broken for three weeks? That's just messed up. But it is better than when I moved back here. Two years ago there was a huge RAT trap at the front door. I love my fuel points, but your store makes me retch. read more
