I placed a deli catering order for my daughter's birthday party that included hot "Popcorn Chicken Bites" and a "Pizza Roll-Up" platter from their kid-friendly menu. The initial pickup didn't match what was advertised: kids' tray wasn't as advertised with the smiley face presentation making it part of the kid-friendly menu and the chicken was *barely* lukewarm and packed in a thin, flimsy cardboard box (which had no chance of holding in any kind of warmth) instead of the foil catering pans shown online. With the party starting in 45 minutes, it was a stressful moment because my whole setup was planned around keeping the food warm with a buffet warmer. What turned this into a 5-star experience was the stellar customer service. When I called, the Assistant Grocery Manager, Gregory S., was calm, kind, and immediately took ownership of the situation. Rather than just offering a refund, he asked for the chance to fix it so I wouldn't have to scramble for last-minute food for the party. Within minutes he called back to confirm they could remake the order and he would personally deliver it on time. He arrived with everything *exactly* as advertised. The chicken was hot and in proper foil catering pans, so it could be put on my warmer, and the kids' tray was arranged with a fun smiley face that the children loved, and wanted to eat. He was professional, apologetic, and genuinely focused on making sure my daughter's party went smoothly. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but the way this manager and his store handled it was exceptional and went well above and beyond. They completely turned a stressful situation into a positive one, and because of that level of care and follow-through, I would absolutely recommend them for catering. If you have specific setup needs, it may be helpful to call ahead to confirm packaging but based on this experience I have a lot of confidence in how they take care of their customers. We came into Publix and my husband bee-lined it to the bakery section to get a carrot cake slice as an early birthday treat! He also had banana pudding in mind but didn't see it. Katie helped us out and told us where to look for the banana pudding. She also told us a good local restaurant to check out that has good burgers and desserts. We also got a chicken tender sub from the deli made by Don. Don did a great job with our sub. He was very personable and conscientious about changing his gloves. We really appreciated this. It was 9:30pm and there was 30 minutes left until closing time (which is when some people can get antsy about wanting to leave and wanting to be done with work) but Don and Katie engaged in conversation with us and provided great customer service. I had to try the Nashville hot honey salad from Publix after hearing about it. They've been sold out of the hot honey every time I've went. So this time they finally had it. There wasn't anyone in line when we got there so that was great. They sell subs, but any sub can be made into a salad and the prices are reasonable. The lady making the salad had a bit of an attitude because I wanted my dressing on the side. I mean who wants a soggy salad drenched in dressing and honey sauce?! So the young man on the line was nice enough to go find us a few condiment cups. The lady didn't want to use them because they were from a different section. But she just gave in after complaining and did it. I'm sorry but this should be a necessity to have condiment cups on hand always. They were also out of lids for the soup. I don't get it. Whose going to carry hot open soup around a grocery store to spill or for something to fall into it. So I couldn't get the soup. The salad was good! It was fresh ingredients and a good portion. The only downside is you get more dressing if you let them put it on the salad instead of on the side. My daughter did hers that way and I side eyed her the whole time because mines was dry. Lol. I'm a big fan of Publix but lately there are some things they could tweak to improve. Expired foods being one of them. Every time I go I find something expired. A few days is one thing but months is a problem!! They should refund you double for having to bring back spoiled foods. The store is 25-30 minutes away from me, so I'm tired of wasting gas to take things back. So check those dates before you leave. The store is always clean and they're really good about letting you sample the meats and cheeses, which is awesome. They have a good selection including Boar's head. They have a wide variety of dips as well, so you can definitely find charcuterie items here. Check them out!! read more

I finally had a chance to visit the Publix in Virginia Beach. It's about a 30 minute drive from me, so it's definitely not my go to spot for weekly grocery shopping, butI had a hair appointment nearby and decided to stop by! Honestly, I was starving and I've heard so many people rave about the infamous pub subs, so I figured this was my chance to see what all the hype was about and check out the store in general. First impressions were great. Publix is super clean and feels welcoming as soon as you walk in. The aisles are tidy and well organized, which made browsing really easy even though I wasn't familiar with the layout. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, smiling, and happy to help. I made a beeline for the deli to order the Italian pub sub, which I've heard about for years. It was honestly one of the best deli subs I've had from a grocery store! I didn't do a full grocery haul, but I did browse a few aisles while I was there. All in all, if you're curious about Publix or happen to be in the area, stop in! Especially for a pub sub. I'm on the fence about my feelings towards our first Publix in the area. Having lived here so long with really great grocery options I'm a bit picky. I feel like the prices are better in other places but I see more options available for dietary restrictions at Publix. The staff are always really helpful and polite too. My recent visit was for a free bouquet for my 1 year anniversary of being a card member. I grabbed a 4 dollar batch of babys breath to go with it. This is such a nice reward and other places don't do that. If I'm looking for something hard to find other places I will be back but for everyday groceries it's not my first choice unfortunately. read more

I checked them out just after opening, I'm a fan of Publix, but this is a smaller floor plan that does not offer as much. There is a larger store in Suffolk. Parking is plentiful, so forget about it. You can locate a great spot. The location is super for the expanding area. Although there is a Harris Teeter across the street. The store is new and beautiful, make no mistake it's really nice. But the scaled down floor plan may not offer things that Publix shoppers are accustomed to. The Pub Sub is there, that a big hit. The pizza station is not. I likely would not return due to distance. 3.5 rounding up. read more

This Publix is located in Hickman Place. This shopping center seems to continue to grow. There is plenty of parking available at this location. I've been to other Publix locations further south, but this one was a smaller version of their bigger stores. You can turn into the shopping center from General Booth Blvd. (no traffic light) or Nimmo Pkwy. (traffic light). My most recent visit here was on March 8, 2025. There are two entrances/exits for the business. Next to the entrance on the right side when looking toward the business from the parking lot, there are recycling containers for several items. They have the same ones as other places, but they also have one for foam recycling. There are very few carts in the cart return as they are collecting them constantly. Every time I have come inside, it's been clean and bright. They have a Fresh Food area where you can order Subs, Sandwiches, and such. I did have the While Italian Sub from one of my visits here and that was really good too. Surprisingly, it didn't cause a spike in my blood sugars too. Behind the fresh food there, your typical items such as fruits, vegetables, dips, etc. are in that area of the store. Towards the back on that side, the meats and poultry are there. Other cold items are at the back of the store, such as cheeses, bacon, etc. Although the store is small compared to others I have visited in the past, I have been able to find most of the items I am looking for. They also have several items that I have gotten here that I haven't found at any other grocery store in the area. They have the brand items, but some varieties I have only found at this store. Everything has been fully stocked on each of my visits. For the most part, prices were in line with what I have seen at other grocery stores, but there are some items that are higher in cost when compared to those other grocery stores. They do have weekly BOGO offers which you can find on their app. You just need to be strategic at what you get. They accept coupons from other grocery stores too, so be sure to bring them if you end up purchasing that item here. Overall, I have had favorable experiences here. I don't do all of my shopping here, but I do come in to get some items that aren't found elsewhere. Staff have always been friendly when interacting with them from questions to getting a sub. If this is your first time coming to a Publix and you aren't a member of Club Publix, be sure to join and you can also get an additional $5 off a purchase of $20 or more. If you ever want to send comments to them, there are comment cards by the customer service desk. This place is definitely worth checking out, even if it's just for some items. read more

Have you heard the tales of the famous PUB SUB? Have you heard how good they are? Have you been told to get a sub because they are really that good? Did you hear they even have vegan and vegetarian options too? Well, don't get all giddy with excitement because they only ADVERTISE vegan sandwiches--they don't ACTUALLY make them. I intended to get the meatless turkey and bacon sub only to see a temporary sign affixed to the glass in front of sandwich station advertising a meatless Philly for $8.49--also all vegan! I got ready to order that only to be told they don't have the items to make the on sale sandwich, but the meatless turkey and bacon was an alternate option. It was my first choice so why not? Fine, give me the meatless turkey and bacon sandwich. "We don't have all the ingredients to make that either. You can get turkey, but not the bacon." You want to charge me full price for a sandwich that only has 50% of the meat? The sandwich makers response? Yes. She assured me I could raise my concerns to the manager. The manager was the one that told me that meatless Philly ingredients were not on hand, not in the warehouse, and they did not know if or when they will ever get those ingredients back. To me, the solution is simple; take down the TEMPORARY sign that advertises this sandwich. Somehow, Publix stance is since the 1300 other Publix might offer this sandwich and have the supplies to make them, they too, should advertise it as well. And since they have an alternative sandwich (the meatless turkey and bacon) that somehow makes it acceptable to keep the sign up for the meatless Philly. Don't worry, it didn't make any sense to me either. Needless to say, I left with NO sandwich. read more

Stopped in to Publix to grab some lunch and I was blown away by how nicely organized the store was. I actually visited the store on the grand opening and everyone was very welcoming and extremely helpful. Publix has a large selection of food items such as fried chicken, fish and shrimp. Along with rice bowls, sushi and deli items like sandwiches, salads and wraps. Everything looked fresh and delicious. I decided on the 'Ultimate' sub sandwich which included ham, turkey and roast beef. I added cheddar cheese and all the veggies for $10, which was a great price. I walked around the store and noticed their amazing baked goods along with their extensive wine selection. Publix has it all! With this location being 10 mins away, I plan on stopping in quite often to try their other hot food and deli options along with their wines and other grocery items. read more

We ordered a cake for our coworker's birthday online, I went into the store to pick it up. Publix reminded me of a labyrinth (lol), I needed help finding the bakery. All of the employees were very kind and directed me to the correct location. The bakery employee was very friendly and I was able to immediately pick up the cake. One thing I really loved about this location was the service. All employees made eye contact with me and addressed me. I was excited a Publix was opening near Red Mill and it's been anticipated for years. I was running errands and was meeting a friend nearby for lunch when she cancelled bc her little one was sick so I dropped in here for essentials and decided to try some of their sushi since I wasn't meeting my friend so I could eat it quickly and keep running errands. I bought their standard spicy California rolls and ate them quickly in the car. Queue 3am and I'm feeling really bad - wake up and just can't get back to sleep. By 7am I am violently vomiting. So badly for the next three hours that I burst blood vessels around my eyes. I can't think of anything else I ate that could've given me food poisoning but this sushi. A quick google shows Publix is known for this sort of thing. Ugh. I've literally never felt so bad in my life! I'm out! I went on 2nd day of opening at 930am the new Publix if you go early it has plenty of parking. I went in and the sub deli line was a few I got in line and after me came a lot of people lining up right after. The service was great although when you cut the half of the sub there is one right by this person on their left side but than ask to borrow the cutter knife from the person who is beside you. I mean what if the person ordered a sub and was allergic and use the knife to something else?? Other than that it was quick for making subs. Inside is spacious, clean and comfortable to walk and find things that I wanted. The hot Asian bar or something is nice they got hot ramen which is something different for an American grocery store but I did forget to go up to the 2nd floor. Forgot all about the 2nd floor. I got the philly sub which has roast beef. usually i get steak beef or beef steak so that is a bit different too. I will have to go back to get the other subs and Publix drinks. read more

My wife and I ordered a sub from the deli at Publix online. However when we arrived we discovered that for some unknown reason, the sub ( the only sandwich we ordered) wasn't ready. The service desk contacted the deli and either my order was lost in the mix of the massive crowd at the deli or was they were running that far behind. In either case, the deli manager insisted that I receive a full refund and also offered my wife and I a free soda while we wait for our sandwich to be made. The sandwich was delivered to us personally and they all were so apologetic. The sub we ordered was their Chicken Tender Bacon Ranch sub. It was stuffed with chicken and had a heaping pile of fresh lettuce and freshly cut tomato's! We both agreed that it was very tasty and filling as we each had half of a full sided sub. Although we ended up waiting almost 30 extra minutes for the Publix deli to make my sub as ordered fresh and give me a full refund, our experience was not terrible. It was a Saturday afternoon.. the warm weather.. excessively large crowds..Publix made this right and made easily to over look the inconvenience of waiting the extra time. read more

Finally visited the new Publix and I was not disappointed! The first thing I noticed when I went in was that everything is stocked up! No empty spots, everything pulled to the front, it looked flawless and super clean. We waited in line for the deli and it was pretty busy, but we anticipated that given it's only been a little since it first opened. We waited in line probably for about 20 minutes and ordered just 1 chicken tenders sandwich between my husband and I. For only about $13, I can say with confidence that the 1 sandwich filled us both! They put so much chicken in the sandwich that when it was time to put any toppings, they couldn't fit and just fell right off lol. The sandwich was so big and filled that the people working the deli had to cut it in half and stuff them in 2 separate bags. I forgot to take a picture of the upstairs area but that was super clean too. The staff was super friendly. I can't wait to try their other things on their menu like their poke or sushi. I tried one of their international toffee chocolate candies too and it was amazing. Definitely looking forward to my next visit! read more

I was not impressed and surprised that I was not impressed. I have been to Publix before and loved it. I probably wouldn't return but I also live/work near Aldi, Trader Joes, Kroger, Whole Foods and Fresh Market. All within 1/2 mile. I will say that the store was bright, clean, organized and well stocked. It really did look good. I don't think I saw or talked to any employees except the person giving out Acai Bowl Tasters.....which were delicious. I found it to be more expensive than other stores. This particular store also seemed so much smaller. They did have a lot of prepared foods which seem to be a huge hit. Sushi, subs, soups......I might come back and try some of the prepared foods and also bring some to my mom who is an assisted living nearby. They had a weekly soup schedule which I liked. There was plenty of parking. I wouldn't go back for my regular weekly shopping but I will check out the subs and soups in the prepared food section. read more

Excited that VA beach finally has a publix. Publix always has the best tasting fruit, I like their chicken and lamb so fresh and the packaging isnreally nice. I needed a tres leches and there weren't any, the kind lady working that day made me one on the spot I appreciated that great service! People are very nice and helpful and friendly. I also absolutely love publix fried spicy wings and at most publix stores you can go and pick up a bucket but I have been in the store 3 times and they never have it. In Suffolk at least they have an estimated wait time but nothing here. I really hope you correct that and make it convenient to stop and pick it up for dinner or to take for a get together etc. read more

Nothing like the Publix in Florida. The customer service and PRICES are crazy. 1) Came for a second time for essentials. 6:45 pm kids wanted tender and we wanted subs. Was told they don't make tenders after 6pm. WTF? It's FRIDAY and most people get off work after 5pm with hungry KIDS to tow. What supermarket does this? The manager I am assuming was oblivious to customer frowns and just let his people continue to clean up amidst the RUSH. 2) ordered two subs. They had no provolone cheese. I had to after being told the lunch meat counter was too busy had to opt for Orange cheese. They were out of Jerk Turkey and NO ONIONS. No apologies nothing. Manager NEVER tried to smooth frowns and the servers looked like they could care less. I went to counter and ordered my own provolone to add on our sandwiches took 5 minutes. So we left with no tenders two subs and a half pound of provolone cheese on the side to fix the sandwiches ordered. I really wanted to leave them there but did not want to be "that" person. Who the hell is NOT ready for a food rush on a FRIDAY night? Tell me? I won't be back anytime soon. I will go to the one we love when I visit Florida. This was my first time visiting a Publix. I have heard for a long time that they are famous for pub subs but I was told at 11:30 am that they ran out of chicken tenders. Another employee said they didn't actually run out, they just decided to stop offering them during the lunch rush bc they sell so fast, and that in order to get a pub sub with tenders, I need to come back before lunch time. My guess is they are either understaffed or have not properly trained people yet. Otherwise, the store was very clean and nice, and the employees in the bakery section were exceptionally nice. read more

Ordered a cake a week early for my daughter's high school graduation party. The lady said what time I said anytime after 1:30p on Friday 6/13. She said 2p okay? I said yes. Got there at 2p she said oh it said 230p (the time was written with a highlighter on the copy) I went to shop for other things. The line for the subs is insane but honestly, you have not lived until you've tried one! The bakery always has cakes and treats! The kids get a free cookie. I want to start this review with saying I have shopped at Publix my entire life. The one in Jacksonville and North Augusta are amazing. As for the one that just opened in VA beach.... Not nearly up to par. I have convinced a friend about pub subs and how good they are. We have gone 4 times in order to get a chicken tender subs. The first two times they were out. The third time we wait for 45 minutes and got the driest tenders I have ever had. Not to mention the guy making my friends sub gutted it by spilling tenders everywhere and throwing them away. Today I told him to give Publix a second chance. We go in they are out of tenders. They are out of all chicken wings. They didn't even have tops that fit the soup cups. Whoever is doing the ordering management wise is doing an absolute horrible job. I will not be giving Publix a 5th chance and will be taking my business to Harris Teeter and Kroger. read more
