Awesome. Came for Mother's Day (with reservation) and it was great all around. It's coastal, cool, breezy, a little upscale but not snooty, chill. Good food and strong drinks. Yours truly had a Bodega Boy; mezcal cocktail with sort of a horchata vibe. I also had the double double burger and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and amply portioned. Btw: get the butterscotch pudding. You're welcome. I left stuffed and slightly wobbly. Fun place, good service. I'd go back.
Stopped by this place on a whim! Was a really good choice for a casual but nice dinner on a Wednesday. Very friendly staff--Zach or Zack (unsure of his spelling) was great!!! He took care of us. The orange wine was funky, just how I like it. The cocktails were not too strong, and very flavorful and refreshing. Apps especially the ceviche (not pictured) were unique, light, and so tasty. The braised beef dish was so tender. The Cesar salad was good, and the fluffy big baked croutons w/cheese inside was unique but a little too rich for my taste. It could've used a little more salad dressing too. And the chicken added to it was quite dry and not flavorful. We would come back. :)
First visit and loved everything about this place! Location is so good, indoor/outdoor seating, cute ambiance, and delicious food. The cesar salad is a must!!! The double double was also so good! Server was very friendly and attentive to us. He found out it was my birthday and brought me a little dessert too!
The ambiance at Waverly is unmatched. It's very laid back and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. We have always done walk in and usually get seated even though we do not have a reservation. Come early though (before 11AM)! For brunch I ended up ordering the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. It has a sunny side eye on top along with prosciutto and creamy Gruyère cheese sauce. Looks like an art piece! Super yummy and decently priced. Service is tentative and waitress was super friendly and enjoyed our conversation. We will have to come back for their lunch hours as a few items caught my eye.
Very Beautiful and relaxing place First time visiting from LA and I would definitely consider coming back every time I visit La Jolla. The service is quick and fast. They are absolutely professional, not like the type of servers who come to your table with weird body language and very high tones." BTW this is something I always pay attention to" The food was delicious! I got the avocado toast with sunny side up and my husband got the turkish poached eggs and he also loved it. The beverages were fantastic as well. My matcha Latte was very warm and lovely. The red drink is on the healthy shot list, sorry I can't recall the name at this moment but it was very refreshing. Waverly in Cardiff is a great brunch spot with a lively vibe and beautiful interior decor. The menu is nicely curated, offering everything from savory options like the Sonoma lamb shawarma wrap and sausage egg sandwiches to fun dishes like funfetti pancakes and crème brûlée French toast. Visited on Easter Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The live DJ spinning vinyl added a fun touch--starting with upbeat tunes and later switching to soulful oldies, which felt a bit unexpected but still enjoyable. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking, next to an açaí spot and a pizza place. Ordered the lamb shawarma wrap and an Aplós Ume Spritz--the drink was refreshing, and while the wrap was a good size, it leaned a bit bland. The crispy potatoes on the side were a highlight. Food took about 20 minutes but came out well-prepared overall.
Had a great brunch experience here! The food here is great and the vibe is even better. Love the laidback feel and was very surprised that they had a DJ playing live. SHAKSHOUKA * 18 This was super yummy. They use San Marzano tomatoes, which are the best tomatoes for any type of tomato sauces (not to mention marinara). The poached egg on top was also cooked perfectly, and the sourdough bread was the right balance of crispy and chewy. CREME BRULEE FRENCH TOAST * 16 This was better than I expected. Not sure what I was imagining for a creme brulee french toast, but they really captured the creme brulee flavor and texture. The french toast did't come with syrup, so if you're big on that, this might not be one for you. The sweetness was perfect in my opinion, and the fruits were very fresh. BREAKFAST RICE BOWL * 18 My friend got this one, so I can't quite speak for him, but he seemed to really enjoy it. The scrambled eggs looked fluffy and the greens looked fresh. Great macro options if you're looking to not crash after brunch. DARK HORSE * 19 This was a great drink! Well mixed and the flavors were good, I'm not surprised that it's a staple on the drinks menu (they have seasonal cocktails). My friend who comes here often recommended it and I agree with him. I would definitely get this again. THE WAVERLY * 19 If you're a gin fan, this is a great option. Another staple on their cocktail menu. Gin isn't my go-to, but I decided to give this a try, seeing that it was at the top of the menu. I'm glad I did because it was good. The service was great here, even though it's quite busy on weekends. I think it would be best to make a reservation and arrive early since parking can be an issue. The decor inside is very nice and the booth seats are super comfy. Not sure if the DJ is always there, but it can be a bit loud if you are looking for some place quiet for conversation, but if you aren't it's a really great vibe.
Very cute brunch spot. I loved the decor and the ambiance. They even had a live DJ! There were plenty of food options, including classic brunch items, rice bowls, and unique food dishes as well. It was very packed in the restaurant, so unfortunately service was a bit slow and it was hard to flag somebody down for water refills as the glass was very small. I tried the baja rice bowls. I liked how healthy it tasted, but it was lacking in flavor as there was barely any sauce. Wish I got one of the sandwiches or burgers as those looked tasty. Definitely seems like a cute brunch spot to drink at and hang with the girls.
Waverly has a nice vibe and we were seated quickly, which was a good start. Service was mixed: the staff were polite enough, but we had to ask four different people for a highchair before one finally appeared. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, yet it took nearly an hour from ordering to getting our food - a long wait for what arrived. Portions are tiny and the prices are on the high side, so value felt off. My burger was just average - nothing special, though my husband enjoyed his dish more. It's OK if you're not in a rush and don't mind paying premium for modest plates, but it didn't wow us.
Just stopped in for a relaxing Sunday night meal on Super Bowl Sunday and it was pleasantly spacious and relaxed with some old-school R&B playing while the sun was setting. That alone is worth a review. But then we dive into the trout ceviche with shrimp chips that are fantastic, and all the flavors are lined up and perfect. After that, I'll do a Beef Rioja before either the butterscotch pudding or the sticky toffee date cake. I love this place!
Had a great time at Waverly in Encinitas thanks to our server Michael. Recommendations were spot on and ended up being some of our favorite parts of the meal. Thanks to his attentiveness our service experience was smooth and thoughtful the whole time. Lovely location and cozy interior! Will be back

Absolutely fell in love with this place. That ricotta spread was just divine with the gorgeous olive oil drip my steak was perfectly with rosemary and I had a salad which was absolutely delicious. Brooks bacon and she ate half of the steak. She was so full afterwards and that pork bowl was just made to perfection. The service was great I love The cute very floral place with gorgeous vistas of the Pacific Ocean will definitely drive here again. read more

Waverly is such a gem of a restaurant! We love coming for brunch! The vibe and ambiance are perfection! It's also the perfect spot to celebrate special occasions! The menu is always so good!! We have not had one bad thing on the menu. Their cocktails are also amazing! For the price I expect a solid cocktail and they never disappoint. The service is always spot on. Enjoyed a solid dinner at Waverly. We sat outside which was nice to enjoy the sunset. The server was very attentive for our whole meal which was nice. I started off with a glass of red that was recommended to me by the server. I asked for something less on the dry and tannin-y side and he made a good choice that fit what I wanted (I believe it was a Syrah or Syrah blend). We enjoyed the burrata donuts (not pictured) and they were delicious but particularly nothing outstanding. I ordered the cavatelli as my main which was very good in flavor and the portion was perfect. I did feel that it could do with a bit less saltiness but I enjoyed it nonetheless and would definitely get it again. The parking lot is a plus! read more

I've been here many times before & have LOVED it each time -- especially when there's live music! Always a good time with a group of friends! But the food never disappoints -- their Caesar salad with their croutons is literally the BEST Caesar salad any of us have EVER had in our lives! We all ordered something different & we were all happy with what we got. Sounds like the winning dishes were the Braised Beef Rioja and the Seared Bristol Scallops. Unfortunately my salmon dish came out quite dry this time around :( The Butterscotch Pudding and the Chocolate Cake took... the cake! ;) when it came to the desserts! I was a bit bummed on their selection of red wines -- taste-tested two and we all didn't like them. Their white wine selection was a bit better. Waverly is the place for any occasion and the food is amazing. I've come for brunch, lunch and dinner and am always shocked at the amazing dishes and drinks they have here. Also the staff are such a good vibe. Michael P as our waiter is the cherry on top!! He's got class, he has great presence and he is so good at recommending and painting a picture on what flavors to expect in both the drinks and main courses. Waverly has the perfect menu and atmosphere for most get-togethers and is a great go-to for date night, girls brunch, family lunch...you name it. We sat on the patio with a friend's dog and were very impressed at how dog-friendly this restaurant was. Waverly-branded water bowls, a dedicated dog menu (we got the cheddar bacon treats), and lots of other happy pups at other tables. We started with the funfetti pancakes which were delicious, but I would not recommend this item based on the portion size. This $13 pancake stack was gone in three bites, and marketed as a shareable starter- and also barely had maple syrup...I wish it came with a small side of syrup to pour over. I had the Turkish poached eggs which was good, but would have been better if the yogurt had herbs and bread was more of a charred, buttered sourdough vs an almost-stale white bread. My friend had the Caesar salad which she liked. Overall, I think the food here is good and I would come back, but little adjustments could make this a 5 star establishment! Small note about the parking- the lot is right next to the beach and they have lot attendants walking around, ticketing cars that are parked for longer than an hour to dissuade people from parking in the lot and spending all day at the beach. The restaurant reassured us that if we do get ticketed for parking over an hour, they would pay the ticket. read more

We came here on Father's day around 12:30 (without a reservation) and were still able to be seated at the bar with full service. Each menu item we tried was thoroughly enjoyed, however I think the breakfast rice bowl was the best bang for your buck. It had rice, avocado, broccolini, curry sauce, and eggs. It was healthy, fresh, and so filling! I would definitely go back and get this same thing. There was also a live DJ, great ambiance, and solid service! read more

We had a lovely brunch at Waverly with the family! Between the shakshuka, crème brûlée French toast, fried egg sandwich, and farm eggs Benedict, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. While the portion sizes leaned a bit small, the quality made up for it--each bite was delicious. The vibe of the café is immaculate--think Southern California boho chic with a trendy twist. It's a beautiful space that feels both relaxed and stylish. A major bonus: Waverly is super dog-friendly. They let us dine indoors with our pups, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Service was warm and welcoming, though a bit on the slower side. Still, we'd happily return. Highly recommend if you're looking for a charming, dog-friendly brunch spot with great food and great vibes. read more
I've been to Waverly many times now and each time I have a great experience. The ambiance itself is fun, bright, and casual during the day, and a bit more sultry and moody at night but still energetic. The food is always delicious and portion sizes are decent as well. My recent favorites are the whipped ricotta and focaccia appetizer which is so flavorful and beautifully presented (though I do wish they provided more bread, its $3 charge for extra), and the salted caramel pudding which is my boyfriend's favorite dessert ever. The flaky sea salt on top really makes it a stand out dessert. Prices are a bit on the high side but to be expected in Cardiff. The service is always friendly and prompt as well. I often like to come for drinks at night and they have great cocktails and wine selections. Overall, love the Waverly for brunch, dinner, or even just drinks! We came here for a colleague's going away lunch because it's right across the street from the office. This is my second time here and I loved it both times! I ordered the blackened chicken. It was cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. We ordered the confetti pancake for the table. That was a lot smaller than we thought. It was almost little bigger than the dollar pancakes. A bit disappointing. The flavor was good though, so there's that! The rest of the meals were also on point. Highly recommend. read more

We went to the waverly for their happy hour menu and our anniversary which was a great experience. Their HH menu has some of the more popular drinks for half off! We had the horchata cold brew and Bodega Boy. They happily swapped regular tequila for the mezcal and both were great. The ocean trout ceviche was amazing! Super fresh and flavorful. We also had the pickled potatoes which were good and unique. We also had the braised beef which was the perfect amount for us both to split. It was another great visit! read more

We walked in and at first they said it could be a 90 minute wait, but then they called back 10 minutes later saying that a table had cancelled! Staff is beyond nice and friendly! Our waitress was a sweetheart. And gave great recs! They have a patio where dogs can sit and they have dog menu! What we got: - eggs Benedict. Customer favorite and was great. The potato's sooo good! - avocado toast - amazing. Some of the best we've had in a while. Lemony deliciousness. - breakfast rice bowl (I forget the exact name!) - healthy, light, and delish. 4.5 stars! It would be 5 stars if it had a better parking situation and location. Breakfast at Waverly Cardiff. What fun! Well, it was probably 1pm, so brunch. The ladies need to brunch here! My gf and I enjoyed brunch. My friend had the highly rated and recommended Caesar Salad with Shrimp. She ate it all. The flavors are perfectly balanced. Sometimes I don't like some Caesar salad dressings but Waverly has perfected it. I had the Breakfast Rice Bowl. I did like the flavors. This restaurant seems to perfect their recipes. The flavor combination and high quality ingredients make this a great restaurant. Enjoy! read more

We're big fans of The Waverly! It's such a beautiful restaurant with a warm, friendly staff and consistently great food and cocktails. Some weeknights they even have live music, which adds a nice vibe. It's also dog-friendly, which we really appreciate. The desserts are always a highlight too. We always leave happy -- you can never go wrong coming here for a casual date night. Highly recommend! read more
Had a pleasant lunch experience here recently, after having had dinner here once before. We sat outside on a sunny midweek afternoon and it was lovely. Our server was very friendly and helpful with assisting us with menu and drink choices, bringing my spouse a sample of an ale that he was curious about trying. We ordered the Kale Salad which was absolutely scrumptious (yes, I'm a weirdo). For my lunch I ordered the burger. Since two patties were too much for me, I requested one on the side, which was graciously accommodated. My spouse ordered the Filet O' Fish sandwich. Man, I wished I had gotten this instead. It was amazingly delicious, fresh and very tasty. After lunch we shared the Butterscotch Pudding...yowza. I had ordered this the last time I visited and it didn't disappoint this time either. It has to be one of the most luxurious & decadent desserts out there. Very enjoyable. Though lunch at Waverly was nice, the portions are a bit on the skimpy side and I prefer the dinner time selections instead. Can't wait until the next time we visit again. read more

Yes! Vinyl Sundays! From 11am - 2pm every Sunday.

It'd be a good sunset view, but no direct ocean view.
What days/times do you have a dj or live music?
Hi Renee, we offer live Jazz music every other Wednesday. Our next Jazz night is tomorrow May 11th. As for DJs they play every Thursday-Saturday at 8pm and during Sunday brunch starting at 12pm.
Do they accept walk ins for a party of 6 brunch time?
Hi Marissa! On Saturday and Sunday brunch it is difficult to take large party walk-ins, however, on weekdays we can usually make it work! It wouldn't hurt to call ahead and speak with a host.
