This was our first time at the maitland location and we loved it! Definitely a different vibe in comparison to the mt Dora one but we admired the change. The entire building is an awesome little plaza with different areas and the wave location here is a standard quick service kitchen. There are a couple food items that aren't on the menu in comparison to the mt Dora location but the alternatives they had are just as good. We got the kani salad bao buns, the Crunchwrap and krab rangoon fritters and everything was fire. We don't come this way often but if we are back that way we will come back! read more

I came in for national hand roll day where they offered $5 handrolls. I got the salmon, yellowtail, and bagel handrolls they were huge! I would reccommend to dip in soy sauce or asking for a side of spicy mayo as there isn't sauce/seasoning in the roll itself. I tried some of their non-sushi items and loved them. Their pork belly bao buns were stunning. The pork melted in your mouth and had incredible flavor. I was going to rate this place 5 stars. The staff was super kind and gave great suggestions. The restaurant was clean, well maintained. And the food was DELICIOUS. Loved the crab rangoon fritters. Full of flavor and super light at the same time. I ordered the Poke Pizza. And I was genuinely enjoying it! I got it tempura'd on the bottom due to the worker saying it would help the pizza hold better. I was loving the flavors and freshness of everything so I brought it home to finish. My issue has come when I decided to finish the poke pizza. Once I got towards the back end of my pizza I noticed a long fine brown hair that does not belong to me. The hair was deeply stuck in the sticky rice and ran through the rest of the sushi base. My hair is black and curly also I currently have dreads so there is no way this hair is mine. Unfortunately due to this hair being in my food I'm knocking off stars because it's truly unsettling not only to see how long the hair is but knowing I already consumed half of this pizza so I have no idea if I consumed some of the hair as well. read more

Good food first time to this location and been twice to there Mt Dora spot. Service absolutely abysmal! Came at 7:25 ordered. Only to be rushed out at 8:10 people coming constantly (at least 3-4 times) to the table to ask if we're don't with plates. The drink dispenser was off so couldn't refill a $3 soda. So essentially paid $3 for one clear plastic cup of soda and couldn't refill at 8pm cause they're cleaning. Won't be back. You order at the counter instead of table service. It's a smaller location in a little food hall. The service is still amazing though! The staff is friendly as always! They brought out my food, but they usually text to alert you. I ordered to go the sushi burrito. It was okay, good, not a lot of flavor. Be careful, eating the lettuce garnish, that you don't eat the small clump of potent wasabi. Watch out for it. When I heard they opened a second location in Maitland I knew I needed to go try them out. This place has been on my "to-eat" list for so long and I'm very happy I got to try the sushi burger or specifically the "SOFLOFOOODIE Burger" which has large slices of salmon covered in krab salad and seaweed salad in between toe ginormous rice "buns" coated in flamin hot Cheetos. Sounds like a dream and it sure looked like one. The salmon was fresh and the other ingredients complemented each bite. I was hoping for more heat from the flamin hot Cheeto rice buns but I couldn't taste much of those delicious chips unfortunately. Otherwise this would've been a solid sushi burger. The service at this location is more fast casual where you order at the register, pay, and they'll bring it to you when it's ready. They're fairly quick and the presentation of the food is amazing as you can tell from the picture. This particular location is nestled within a building with a few other shops inside. The seating area is not the biggest but they do have outside seating. Overall, I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the menu items and the sushi burger was worth the try, but for $26 I think I would try something else on their menu next time I'm there. read more

I got the Slammin' Salmon Burrito at Wave Sushi, and it was very refreshing! The fish and vegetables were fresh and the service was accommodating and nice. The only thing was that I wasn't full afterwards and opted not to get additional items since the burrito itself was already pretty expensive. Came a few months ago and it was fantastic. Back again and had been really looking forward to this (we live 70 miles away) for a while. Took 20 minutes for waitress to come back to take our order after she brought us water. She looked us and asked if she had taken our order yet to which we had to say no. We then waited about 30 minutes for the first of our 4 items (sushi taco), and another 15 minutes for the other 3 things (2 rolls and a poke pizza slice.) We saw several tables who came in after us get served their food first. Another waitress brought half of our food instead of our waitress. She never came back until we were done eating to check on us. Multiple instances she was just standing around and inserting herself into people's conversations while the other wait staff were actively bringing food out and cleaning tables. This is a pretty small restaurant and she appeared to only have 4 tables in her section so I'm not sure why it took so long for everything. The food was good and portion size is great but this time I felt like the salmon wasn't as good as a quality of last time. This may be due to the fact that it was cut in such large pieces and noticeably warmer than the tuna on the same dish. We may try again but likely won't go out of our way to come here with so many other great sushi spots in the Orlando area. read more

I've been following wave sushi for years, but have never been to Mt. Dora to try them. I'm so happy they opened a place in Maitland! It's located in a building that I suppose is like a food hall, but each vendors has its own enclosed space (not open like other food halls I've visited). You walk into a main door and then enter from the inside of the building. My party grabbed menus, walked to a table (self seating) and decided what to order. You do walk up to the counter to order, though someone did come back to the tables to check in on us and ask if we had any questions about the menu. My favorite dish was the wave nachos. It's a plate of fresh, crispy fried wonton chips with a big pile of delicious sushi in the middle. The wonton chips and sushi combo were fantastic. I ordered the pizza, which can be fried or not fried. I opted for not fried. It is a little awkward to eat because of its size and shape. It was great. We ordered a few standard rolls (spider and MD) and they were really good. The sushi hotdog and sushi burrito were good, but it was messy and difficult to eat. I felt like those fried specialty shapes are a little too oily. Though I liked the flavors in the burrito, the ratio of rice to stuff inside of a little off. It was delicious--we loved it all-but there's something perfect about a regular sushi roll's rice to ingredient ratio and size for chewing that we all take for granted. We did see an order of a sushi hamburger and it is absurdly huge. Many of their fun-shaped dishes are huge and meant to be shared. I can't say enough good things about Wave. My husband and I came in for a date night a few weeks ago. I have been following their social media for years now and have always wanted to try it. Mt. Dora is a bit of a drive for us, so I was excited to see a new location pop up right next to us! My husband got the sushi burrito and I got the sushi pizza. We also got the crab fritter appetizer to split. Everything was amazing. I was the most impressed by their customer service. The staff realized they made a small error with the appetizer and they ended up replacing it, giving us a free gift card for the price of the app. and the chef came out to apologize. We told them it wasn't a huge deal, but they insisted on fixing it because they are so committed to the quality of their food. I visited for lunch during my workday. I ordered the Crab Ragoons recommended by the cashier, the Horatio Roll, and a drink for a total of $33. Not exactly workday lunchtime pricing. I stopped by the drink machine. The six Coke product choices are underwhelming. Would it be too much to offer a green or black tea? Also, the individual Kikoman packets are a no for me dawg. The interior is small but laid out well. Good music is playing and I left with a couple of Shazams to listen to on the way back to work The uncomfortable metal chairs need to be banned from any restaurant. The outside seating area looks nice with plush synthetic grass and tables with umbrellas. When my food arrived I could better understand the menu pricing. The portions are massive! I could've easily split my meal with another person. The plastic container provided for the soy sauce is far too small to comfortably dip the XL rolls. The crab rangoons and Horatio roll were good. Nothing mind-blowing or hype-worthy. I would be interested in trying one of the sushi hamburgers on another visit. Possibly after it cools down and I can sit outside. We were really excited to try the new location because we love the original location in Mount Dora. The menu is very much limited compared to the original location, so just be aware of that. My visit may be an anomaly, but my boyfriend and I went for dinner and there was a line of people waiting in front of us to order which took about 15 minutes, then when I was next to order - two to-go pickups cut in front of me and the worker happily gave them their meals before attending to me. I was the last in line, with no one behind me. I placed my order and my boyfriend went to Pizza Bruno to grab his meal, and I changed my order after placing to to-go so I could sit with him over there. No joke, it took 20 minutes for me to get my order, and even several people before me hadn't gotten their meals. I found the prices very expensive, but worth a one-time visit for the gimmick of the shape of the sushi. The quality was average, there was nothing special about the taste. There are not many tables for seating, so if the dining room is fun you'll be waiting for a seat.
