Alaskan roll and shrimp tempura roll
    Rob L.

I have been a big fan of Wave for a while now. I started going to their location in Mt Dora but was so happy when they finally opened a Maitland location (much shorter drive for me). The food is always so good and fun! The service is good and the ambiance is casual but colorful! They have a ton of yummy rolls to choose from but my favorite thing on the entire menu is the sushi hotdog! If you haven't been to either location, you must give Wave a chance. They also have a cool instagram page, so follow along and see what they cook up next!

My first try of Wave Sushi, and I can honestly say I was not left disappointed. I will definitely be venturing back to try out more of their menu. On my first visit, I stuck with ordering my go-to shrimp tempura roll because I was not super hungry, but I knew I wanted something light to put on my stomach. The pricing was competitive with other local sushi eateries. The service was pretty good, considering it was fairly packed out for a Stranger Things Pop-Up Market. The overall space and ambiance were lively. As I didn't eat in the actual restaurant space (I took my food to go and ate at the bar next door), I cannot speak much to how the dining space is, but it looked as if there was a decent amount of indoor seating and some limited seating outdoors. As for the shrimp tempura roll, it was tasty. I definitely want to visit again to try one of their specialty rolls because they had a couple that caught my eye. They also serve alcoholic beverages, but I did not get the chance to try anything from their drink menu. However, pricing looked reasonable for those options as well. Nonetheless, my first experience was really good. So, I'll be back for sure!

My camera did not eat first this time, but WAVE did not disappoint. I never made it out to Mt.Dora to their original location, so I love that this is so closer! I ordered the ichiban roll, which I found to be inexpensive at $15 for the amount of sushi I got! Sushi was put freshhh and took about a 15 minute wait given not many people were there! Definitely have to come back to try some of their more popular items. Cute little spot with plenty of seating.

I tried the hand rolls at Wave Sushi and they were so good! The seaweed was perfectly crisp, the rice was well-seasoned, and the fish tasted fresh. Each roll was made to order and packed with flavor. Great option if you're craving something simple, fresh, and satisfying. I had the spicy tuna, salmon, & yellowtail.

Took a trip to Packwoods for a little Galentine's fun. I have visited the Wave in Mt. Dora and was excited to have a closer location. I love how they have all their signature options as well a Valentine's Day special. The facility is located in the back of the food hall. Just order at the counter and grab your number. Someone will bring you your order when it is ready.

My friend and I met up to try out the Wave location in Maitland! This location operates as fast casual so you're ordering at the front registers and then taking a number so they can deliver your food when it's ready. It was pretty quiet when I arrived which made it easy to sit and have conversation without having to yell over each other! The sushi fries were surprisingly really good! The spicy mayo really makes the dish, however unfortunately it is a LOT to have in one sitting even for two people lol! The Krab Rangoon fritters are so tasty! Idk how they have it crispy on the outside and so creamy inside but I was wowed! I will be dreaming of this food until I can make it back out here! Probably the best part about this place is there's significantly more parking available than the Mount Dora location!

This sushi burrito was very good. I opted to not have it deep fried so I could really taste the sushi. I added spicy mayo so I could dip the burrito in that. More than enough food for 1 person. I was starving and it was a satisfying meal! Service is pretty quick because you order at a counter and they bring it to you. I've been to wave a couple of times and would definitely come back and get the burrito again! Quality of the fish is pretty decent.

I have this odd and laughable obsession with food being shaped in the forms of different food. I visited the Wave in Mt Dora a few years ago and loved it! This Wave opened up way closer to my house so you know we had to try it. We placed our order online and took it to go. There is a decent sized parking lot as well as some seating inside and out. It's in a cute little plaza that has recently been popping (note to self to try other places in here). The krab rangoon mozzarella balls were delicious! It came with a great dipping sauce also. My poke taco and my fiancé's rainbow sushi burrito were both super fresh! It was clever how they made the outside of my taco crispy :) I'll definitely be back here especially since it's so close to my house. They have different daily deals during the week also which I snagged a picture of for anybody that loves a good deal.

I love finding great new sushi places in Orlando and this place is definitely at the top of the list. I wasn't sure how the sushi was going to taste as I've seen their videos on social media and wasn't sure if the great looking food was going to correlate to real life - and I can assure you they didn't disappoint. I was shocked at how fresh everything tasted. The crab Rangoon Fritz were my favorite and I could see myself coming here again just for those along. They're stuffed filled and have a great flavor. There's indoor and outdoor seating which is appreciated and staff was very nice. I can't wait to try more things on the menu.

This was my first time visiting there Maitland location. I was surprised how quiet it was for a Saturday lunch. We were one of three tables there. I love sushi and the the fish here is super fresh. It's definitely more of a gimmicky place because of how much rice there ends up being. However, it's definitely good to try at least once. If I went back I would absolutely get the crab rangoon fritters again and I think I would try there Wednesday hand roll special. The crab rangoon fritters had the perfect mix of cream cheese and regular cheese so they were gooey but you could still taste the crab. I like the graffiti on the wall and the fact that you can see the chef making the meals in the front window of the restaurant. Inside's not very big but they also have some outdoor seating as well.

I've been to the Mt Dora location a couple of times, with the Maitland location being closer we decided to try it out! Parking was easy on site, and located in a social house with some other options to try for you'd please. Got the spicy tuna taco and tuna nachos. Service was quick and efficient. Loved the tuna nachos- the chips were fresh, loaded with tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, and crab. The spicy tuna taco- was good, but I was not a huge fan of the taco. It was filled high with tuna and the tuna was fresh, could have been a little spicier. Looking forward to coming back and trying some more options!

I ordered food from Wave while at Packwoods and I was pleased with the service and quality of the food. I walked over to order at the counter and liked the open concept of the restaurant as you can watch them make sushi if you wish. The decor is very clean, eclectic, and fun. After ordering I was able to take my table number back to Packwoods and my food was brought to me with all of the fixings. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. Give Wave a try, you won't be disappointed!

Had some down time in between movies while I was attending the Florida Film Festival, so we popped over here to the new Maitland Social for a bite to eat. We wanted to get something from here and from Pizza Bruno, but Pizza Bruno was too formal and inaccessible. Not fast casual like the Wave was, so that settled that, an entire dinner from Wave Sushi. That was actually a blessing in disguise. There are so many delicious menu options at the Wave, I'm glad I didn't have to limit myself. So we ordered, we found a nice seat outside, and we got ready to chow down. It was counter service, and the folks at the counter were very nice. They walked me through all my questions about the menu. There were a few different ways to go. We started off with the Krab Rangoon Fritters (a smaller, round version of our viral krab rangoon mozzarella sticks served with a size of sweet chili sauce (4 per order)). These were fun. Fried little crispy balls with that sweet goon goo inside. Go ahead and ask for one of every dipping sauce so you can experience a variety. Very good. Then onto the Soft Shell Crab Taco (Tempura fried nori shell filled with fried soft shell crab, seaweed salad, sushi rice, scallion, sesame seeds, eel sauce, and masago). Insanely good. Very crispy, not greasy at all, nori shell. The crab itself was smaller, which was good, because it limited the amount of crab guts you have to eat on this delicate taco. Very good stuff. One of our mains was the Spicy Salmon Burger (Cucumber, seaweed salad, spicy mayo & eel sauce between two rice ''buns'' sprinkled with sesame seeds). Very fun. The buns were crispy and held together well, but they were bland, so back to ordering a lot of sauces. The fresh fish inside was very high quality. But it will fall out all over the plate, this thing is impossible to hold together, but that's ok. Grab a fork! On to the main event. The best food item of the evening. The Tuna Supreme Pizza (Salmon roll "crust" with spicy tuna base, topped with cucumber, edamame, avocado, red cabbage, spicy mayo, eel sauce, sesame seeds, and scallion). Wowww, what a good slice of pizza. The salmon roll crust was great. It actually gave you a good place to hold onto. The fried nori bottom of the crust held up remarkably well, and it added a nice crisp every bite. Topped with tons of delicious tuna, that creamy mayo, that deep umami eel sauce, and some other veg keeps every bite interesting. I loved this, and I will be back for it again one day soon. Overall, this place really wowed me. Really quality food items hidden under trendy, outlandish designs. Everyone should come try this place.

There wasn't anything too extraordinary about this dish, but I was happy that the gyoza didn't taste stale. What really struck me was the delicious, nicely presented, tasty combination of flavors that I found in the Drama Queen roll. This roll contains spicy tuna, avocado, tempura flakes, yellowtail, jalepeno, black tobiko and spicy kimchee sauce. It was so delicious. And fresh! Way to go, Boku! I also ordered a Shrimp Tempura roll that contained avocado, butter lettuce, shrimp tempura, eel sauce and masago. I don't think I've had makimono with lettuce, but I was pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture. The interior seemed modern and had varying tones of gray. There's also a patio and you'll find a selection of beers and wine, including sake.

We stopped by and found it to be a nice little spot with good value and a welcoming vibe. The truffle fries arrived looking impressive with a crispy exterior, but fell short on flavor. They tasted more like premium fries than truffle fries, which was a letdown given what we were expecting. That said, they're still a solid appetizer if you're hungry. The real draw here is the happy hour. Three sushi rolls for around $18 is a pretty solid deal, and we appreciated that the happy hour menu keeps things simple with rolls featuring just one or two ingredients. Nothing fancy, but executed well. The sushi itself was good, fresh, and satisfying without being exceptional. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service was not noticeable (which sometimes is a very good thing), making it an easy place to grab dinner with friends. Would I make a special trip? Probably not. Only like 3 diners were there when we arrived (it was mid afternoon), so lots of open seating. We were able to sit at the bar. Greeted right way. Will say they have a very extensive menu. Decent selection of sushi & other types of dishes. Our server was pleasant. We started with their daily deal which was Crispy Tuna and edamame as well. Came out pretty quickly after we ordered. The Crispy Tuna was served not as we expected. It was more rice cakes (pancake style shape if you will) not what we are accustomed to which generally is a Square Musubi Press. They were good, but would have preferred them the way we generally order it. Edamame was tasty, but hard to mess that up. Rolls: they are pretty small to be honest and squeezed so tightly (with not enough of outer rice) they sat up high and didn't take on the plump desirable shape. When a sushi roll (maki) is rolled and pressed incorrectly with a bamboo mat, the cylindrical shape gets squished and inevitably turns into a aesthetic effect that looks off, which in my opinion shows here. Plus, very thinly sliced rolls. 4 rolls we ordered: Naruto Roll, it was refreshing & liked the cucumber in place of the seaweed wrap. Beauty & Beast Roll, came together well with the black tobiko & masago. Waterfall Roll was good, but would have liked some more heat (heaver on the jalapeños) and finally the Black Pearl Roll which was decent with the black tobiko on top! Throughout of dining experience the sushi chefs were preparing other dishes on the menu to fill orders, but also pleasant & engaging as we watched them make our orders and those others too. Leo and Micah were friendly, not so much the only female employee. She gave off some negative vibes. Never said a word to us & acted like we were not even there! Believe her role may have been in the kitchen, but she was out on the floor (for most of our time there) talking to Leo primarily. Kitchen cleanliness is key and by looking thru the open space (to the backs of sushi chefs) she really needed to focus more of her attention there instead of projecting conversations out front to the busy staff. Meaning that sanitation and environmental hygiene is a mandatory practice that needs constant attention & customers may observe or question those things when not tending to the task. I'm addressing this in the most important and nicest way possible! Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Not the best sushi restaurant we've been to, but definitely sufficed for our craving. Ended our meal with their fried ice cream which was delicious. Note- Do not believe they have any happy hour specials. No Kizami Wasabi available here. They feature a few lower costs options for lunch. Additionally, they have hibachi, teriyaki and ramen also!

Everyone received their starters, the blonde waitress asked if I wanted one as well. When I said yes, she responded with "bro, it's not going to be free," which made the interaction very awkward for everyone at the table since I never even asked for the starter in the first place and was just very unprofessional. Later, one of my friends received shrimp tempura that was translucent, raw, and slimy in the middle. When we politely mentioned it, both the waitress and host repeatedly questioned whether we were sure it was raw. At one point the waitress even asked something along the lines of "so do you want this for free or something?" which felt accusatory and uncomfortable. We're familiar with tempura/sushi dishes in general and understand that something can be fried on the outside but still undercooked inside. The repeated doubt came across as dismissive and a bit condescending. She also said she would "pray" for one of my friends which was a very strange and off-putting comment in that situation. It just felt like she was doubting us and in general it made us feel bad for even bringing it up in the first place. The item did end up being comped, which we appreciated, but that didn't change the interaction we had or the comments that were made. We weren't there trying to get free items, so the assumptions and tone from our server made the whole situation feel uncomfortable and strange. Overall, we did enjoy the food, but the service made the dinner uncomfortable and left us feeling judged rather than welcomed. Since I've had good experiences here in the past, I hope this feedback is taken constructively so future guests have a better experience.

So the restaurant had a super nice atmosphere but was very booked out. There were heart balloons at every table. So the decor was absolutely in the room with us lol. The service was very nice and I feel that they were very attentive and almost felt like maybe they had been trained to provide a certain feeling to customers. I'm sure they had been. Getting into the food, I'm not sure what the bill was. I wasn't allowed to look at it. I will say that I'm sure it was at least $100. I did leave feeling very full, but I do feel like that's a lot of money for me to feel full. We ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish, which was a Miso-glazed Chilean sea bass on a plate with ginger-sake eggplant, butter garlic sautéed spinach, and Japanese potato purée. It's a large plate and we did share, but it was not the whole fish. I think if I pay $45 for a fish, I want the whole fish. My rating is 8.5/10. It was incredibly delicious, but I want the rest of my fish. We also got the Kanpungi, which was fried Korean style boneless chicken bites smothered in a spicy soy sauce glaze. My rating of this is 9/10. I think it was great and was very filling for an appetizer. We accidentally ran into our friends at the restaurant, who had sent us a bottle of sake. The sake was great. We sent back a non-alcoholic cocktail they had and a sake based cocktail. I couldn't tell you what it tasted like, but the service presented and delivered back and forth between our table in a manner I can only describe as carrier pigeon-esque. They did great. I love fanfare. I think for a first date, this is a great place to bring someone you have been talking to for a little bit and want to show that you have a good stable job in this economy and like foods outside of American food. I wasn't on a first date as a note lol. My overall rating is 7.5/10. I mean I think everything was great, but that price stabbed me a little. My boyfriend did suggest to me that it would have been a higher rating if we had gotten one of the rolls. So that's on me. It is in a great walkable neighborhood though. So you are getting charged for ambiance.
