We each have our go to drinks but this time we decided to do the first round of the table all Mexican old fashions and we all agreed 10/10 and ended our last round with them as well. Appetizers included : chips and salsa and queso, birria tacos and a Vida bowl. My entree was the plaintain sushi with shrimp and oh my my my ! 1000/10! I ordered one to go lol. We discovered Vida Cocina and Tequila completely on a whim! We weren't even craving Mexican food that day... although, let's be honest, we're pretty much always up for Mexican or Tex-Mex! We ordered the enchiladas, which came with rice and a salad. And when I say salad, I mean WHO KNEW A SIDE SALAD COULD BE THAT GOOD?! Seriously, it was so fresh and delicious that I'd happily order it all by itself! The décor was lovely, the atmosphere was upbeat, everything was clean, and the food was FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! You can absolutely taste the difference, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Now, my only "complaint" -- and I hesitate to even call it that -- is more of a cultural shock to our Mexican-restaurant-loving souls. Apparently, the chips and salsa come with a $4 charge rather than being complimentary, as we've come to expect at pretty much every other Mexican restaurant we've visited in our lives. My wife and I met a friend here for dinner to celebrate his birthday. We had never set foot inside, but as we approached the restaurant, the exterior lights and decorations seemed festive and welcoming. I can understand that people have bad days, and she is another person, however, when working the service industry, I would expect a little more caring kindness. She was taking plates from our table while we were all still eating and reaching around people without even an "excuse me" or "can I take this from you?". My mom had stopped her and asked her what they do when it comes to singing happy birthday, as my daughter saw someone having happy birthday sang to them - and it's her fourth birthday. She gave my mom a snarky attitude telling her it would cost money - which my mom had no care about. She was just curious. My mom did proceed to ask her if she was inconveniencing her as the waitress had a very rude undertone and my she made it feel like my mom was as being inconveniencing. The waitress proceeded to come back over later and make it a point to tell my mom that she was just caught off guard. Her demeanor the entire time visit doesn't show that that was just the case at just that moment. She came back over and asked if we wanted it. We told her no thank you my four-year-old just really wanted to hear somebody's happy birthday to her. My only complaints would be that the music is a little loud, and with the restaurant being packed, there doesn't seem to be much acoustical treatment to help with the noise, so it can get a bit overwhelming.
