Come hungry. We had our sights to visit Baltimore and feast on blue crabs- because if you're coming to town (considering you aren't allergic to crustaceans) you gotta eat some crabs. I mean....why wouldn't you? This Charles St location popped up as one of those places where we knew we'd been here before and cracked our way into 2 dozen Maryland Blue Crabs the first time we visited Baltimore in the early 2000s- but weren't sure because they went through a remodeling phase some time ago. Currently, out of all the eateries at the Cross Street Market, the Watershed restaurant occupies the most space (I think). It has a big bar, plenty of booths and regular tables. Watershed's main entrance is on Charles St but you can also enter it from the back of the market(?) and for certain, from the side by Pizza di Joey. Maybe because everybody was celebrating the Orioles game on Good Friday, this place was packed to the gills- which hubs and I didn't want any part of it so moseyed on down to sit by the Atlas Fish Market. Atlas Mkt & Watershed are under the same company and despite the average rating for the restaurant, we sat on the Atlas side where we saw Shucker Guy gently manhandling clams and oysters in full frontal view. We could've sat at Atlas' bar- but decided on a table and get a bit nostalgic when this seafood market had that old-school 'brown paper table covering+start cracking blue crabs open' feel we experienced when my daughter was 10. All this to say.....The Atlas Market ran out of Maryland Blue Crabs on the Friday we came here. It was a downer but we had Plan B set. Nature has provided Baltimore with a seafood smorgasbord that I could never, ever resist. For one, we didn't want to go to tourist trap Phillips as I remembered when we first came to Baltimore ages ago- and even then, I didn't think the food was all that anyway. Watershed may not be premium-plating, but the food was very tasty. The Fried Calamari had an excellent batter that was neither overwhelmingly thick or too light that it falls apart- plus they were seasoned. What's more is that the fried calamari had green jalapeño rings fried with the calamari- so if you do not have hot pepper in your DNA like I do- just pull them out of your dish. Our cup of Cream of Crab was heavenly and crab-chunky; fried oysters were great too. The mayo dollop on the fried oysters was a turn-off because I don't eat mayo (unless it's in a Dominican potato salad). I actually removed the mayo and in they went. The Crab+Artichoke dip was sublime. Other places will overload it with artichoke and stretch the dish but not here. Not here. The crab takes center stage here with a nice cream mix and a yummy layer of Gruyère(?) or mozzarella(?). Our meal was fantastic. We had no issues- except they ran out of crabs- but other than that, stopping here to stretch our legs and head to DC afterwards was a nice venture that brought back some memories- even if they remodeled it I guess. read more

Omg.... Screw the seafood. Get the Nashville spicy fried chicken. I got a half chicken and it's absolutely UNREAL how good it was. The portion was absolutely massive too. The fries were fantastic, and the waitress was great and swapped in Mac n cheese instead of Cole slaw. The biggest downside, at least on this Saturday night, is that the music was annoyingly loud. This is a nice spot to grab drinks. Their orange crush was amazing! I also ordered a half dozen of oysters. The guy at the bar who helped us was really nice but it did take a long time for us to get out oysters. Once we did, we were left wanting more because of how fresh they were! They have an area where people play live music and there's a lot of televisions too so you can watch the games or whatnot. If you're going during the summer I'd recommend going in the evening because it gets really hot since it's an open area. I would also recommend that they have more seats at the high tables so people don't have to be standing for long periods of time. read more

My wife and I decided to check out Watershed after receiving a gift card as a birthday gift. We got there during happy hr and decided to sit at the bar to give that a shot. While prices are relatively high across the board, their happy hr prices are a bit more approachable. I started off with a 32oz lime crush for $14. Somehow I have managed to live in Baltimore for almost 6 years without ever having a crush before. This one was tasty AF and I would absolutely drink it again. The only downside was that for $14 there wasn't much drink to it. It was easily 3/4 ice, so I finished it about as quickly as I would finish a 4 or 8 oz cocktail. For food we started out with the happy hr fries. I don't remember the exact price but it was reasonable, maybe $8. They were pretty small, but the flavor was good. I should add we were sitting on the roof deck, and the excellence of the setting really offset any concerns with the price of the food. I don't think I can justify the cost very often, but really it is a very nice setting. In addition to the happy hr bites and drinks, we also ordered dinner off the menu. My wife got fish tacos and muscles, both fine/good. I got a burger which, given this is a seafood restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by. Live music started up just near the end of our meal. This was our first time visiting WaterShed but not our first Atlas experience ! Milly was our Server fad we chose the Roof top seating with the option of tabletops, picnic or bar. Shaded areas, sunny spots and an overall cool vibe! We came on Friday mid afternoon and the crowd was very calm and joyous!!! I have dropped by there on two occasions most recently. The first occasion i was craving a burger, that burger was good hot and great. I had some oysters as well, they were very fresh. Again, no complaints really. The slaw was kind of warm, but we loved the crab cake and fries. Loved, loved, loved the fries. Because if was so nice outside, it was a packed house. The bartenders were all over the place but attentive once you flagged them down. Nice crowd! Awesome experience. During my HH and Friday night out with the ladies we sat inside, downstairs at the bar. On a Friday night around 7pm, there wasn't that many people there. Nice! The bartender was super attentive and accommodating. Jordan was his name. It was 4 of us. I ordered an Old Fashioned - Top Tier. Two friends ordered Strawberry Lemon Drops (Cocktails they saw on Tik Tok). Jordan made them and they were perfect! My other friend stuck with Margaritas - bomb! We ordered quite a bit of food. We tried the Mussels with tomato broth, crab fries, an order of buffalo wings, half order of steamed shrimp and fish tacos. We loved everything - except for the fish tacos. We didn't like the batter or the seasoning. Everything else - Score! The mussels - double score! Overall, 5-star review, 5-star experience on both visits. The restaurant was great! We opted to sit on the rooftop, and enjoyed the views and fresh air. The bar was big and kept the drinks coming! We were seated at a hightop, mid day, so the sun was beaming on us. We were moved to a picnic table after asking. I had the soft shell crab platter which was good! It came with a Ceasar salad and fries. The crab was cooked perfectly, the right amount of "soft and crispy", the salad was a Ceasar salad (can't go wrong there), and the fried were crispy and seasoned. My son tried their steak and cheese, and he said it was so good, but not big enough (lol). The atmosphere was such a vibe! They had a live performer and he was great! I ventured to here as part One of the birthday celebration of my bf's cousin. This place has an upstairs rooftop bar scene & when you look out you see cars or other establishments. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, the wings are delicious the Vibe is so cool calm and collected on a nice day the breeze is love!! . This might have been the worst dining experience I've ever had. The table got branzino, ribeye steak, crab cake, salmon, and lobster. All of the food was unseasoned and bland. The lobster was the worst part; it was undercooked, still had all its insides, and tasted awful, so I returned it. The waiter said they would take it off my check. When the end of the meal came, and the checks came, they still charged me for the lobster but with a 20% discount. You really can not make up how unprofessional they were. Came here a for a business lunch. On the raw bar menu, the oysters - Hammersly, Well Fleet, Pink Moon. All were very good especially Pink Moon. The mignonette was a nice add to oysters. Giving this place 5 stars because I feel like Watershed is underrated. I took my best friend here, who is visiting me from New York to give her a glimpse of the Fed Hill Area and a taste of Maryland seafood. The crushes are so refreshing and not watered down, the crab dip has the perfect crab to cream cheese ratio, and the mussels were the star of the show. They informed us on a Sunday evening that to be seated at a table required the purchase of an entree. Thus, we sat at the bar, and waited patiently for our drinks, which took a long time probably due to short staffing. The oyster list came and listed a whopping $4/ea. We ordered a few and their "mignonette" was a watery liquid with maybe 3 or 4 onion pieces. We mentioned this to the server and he insisted "that's how they do it." So I'll be very honest here -- we found this place on TikTok. 3 friends and I wanted to go to brunch at some place we hadn't been before, one of my friends searched TikTok and BOOM we ended up here. Well, lesson learned. This may look good on TikTok, but in person -- not all that great. So I'll go ahead and say the positive, the esthetic of this place is cute. We sat on the rooftop, which was very nice. The tables are picnic table style, and they have umbrellas to offer shade on the hot days. Because of where it's located, there isn't really a view of anything special; personally, we had a view of the The Charles and Bandito's. Now on to the food. Plain and simple, I would not eat here again. The food does not taste that good, and it is overpriced: The crab fries had very little crab, and the serving size was small compared to other comparable restaurants in the area. Additionally, I was not a fan of the corn thrown onto the crab fries, because I felt like they added nothing to it. The Oysters Rockafella were drowning in avocado so much so you struggled to find the oyster. The crab dip was purely okay -- but you definitely can find much better crab dip in this area. The crab cake egg rolls -- not great. If you're in Baltimore and looking for crab cake eggs rolls how they should be done I suggest trying Papi's Cuisine. The Nashville Chicken sandwich, in true fashion with everything else we tried, we not great. The only decent food is the wings, which I could not even go out of my way to get. Other interesting things to note, they do sell whole MD Blue Crabs -- which I appreciated as a crab lover. Their crab prices were pretty on par with other spots in the area. However, the whole 2/3 hours I spent there, I did not see a single person get the crabs. I've heard folks rave about Watershed so I was very excited that this was the spot chosen for lunch. The summer vibes at the Cross Street Market down in Federal Hill are always a great vibe. We made reservations for the rooftop deck, the place was bustling but not overcrowded. Our waiter was friendly and took his time to answer all our questions as first-timers. The drinks were DE-LISH, mine wasn't as sweet as I anticipated but he brought me out a shot of simple syrup and that made it perfect. All the food that we tried was good and fresh, my favorite, surprisingly was the truffle fries. I made reservations via Open Table and asked for upstairs seating since it was nice outside. I was told since I did not put outdoor seating in the Notes section we could not have outdoor seating. I told the hostess that there wasn't a choice for outdoor seating on Open Table, only standard or bar. I seriously did not think they even checked my reservation since Open Table emailed me as a no show. The food was mediocre at best. There was nothing to rave about the food.
