Lots of options and good sized portions, a range of budget options too. Came in at 7pm, very busy place for dinner! Obviously popular with the local college kids. We had chicken karrage and the shrimp shumai. The shumai were alright but the karrage was delicious! My fiancé and I split a tonkatsu ramen which was the perfect amount of food for us (and we were super hungry coming in!). The ramen was great, lots of bamboo shoots, seaweed, corn, pork jowl. Good broth, really warmed us up after sitting right next to the air conditioner unit. Had never been there but live nearby and saw the excellent reviews. I got an order of Tonkotsu Ramen to go. It's delicious, with a wonderful broth and a big portion for the price. It could have used a little more pork. It came with a side salad that was good. I wish it had been something other than Iceberg lettuce, but guess that's the norm with the side salads you get at Japanese restaurants. Service was OK, neither unpleasant nor pleasant. What a gem to find in Brunswick! My sister and I stopped in because I can't resist the siren song of ramen. Service was friendly and fast, and when the wrong thing was accidentally brought out, it was corrected right away. I got the lunch-sized spicy miso ramen and it left me so full-- I can't imagine what the full sized is like! The pork was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth, the noodles chewy, and the broth was amazing-- just the right amount of spicy. This is a new hidden gem in Brunswick. Located under Richard's tavern, Watami is a breath of fresh air. The decor is peaceful and the even simple chicken with my udon soba thick noodles was incredible. They also have great sushi! It is easy to tell that they really care about their ingredients. I have been looking for a great boba place in Maine too. This is the first place that has soft, delicious boba pearls too. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu so far! read more

So glad we found this "new hidden gem" as Sammi W. puts it. We were a bit skeptical as it's an underground place... downstairs, no windows. But we aren't eating in yet so we got take out wondering how it'd hold up. This is just crazy to say, but we were actually slap happy high after eating this food! It's soooooo delicious! A simple spicy salmon roll, melts in your mouth and leaves an incredible taste, really better than I've had in a long time. The tonkatsu ramen, DELICIOUS! Even the pork slices had a beautiful taste. And it's so clever the way the take out ramen bowl is constructed, a piece of plastic is resting on top of the broth to keep the noodles in a separate compartment so they don't get soggy. (we didn't discover this until 10 min in). This food is wonderful. Kudos to the chefs. Can't wait to go back and try other things. Yay Brunswick has a great new place! read more

This place won't be easy to find if you're driving Main Street in Brunswick,you'll have to drive slowly because it is attached to a German restaurant called Richard's but their dining room is in the lower level. If I remember this place is used to be a Mexican restaurant but they did a pretty good job of transforming it to a nice looking Japanese restaurant. I am familiar to this place so I use the back door of the restaurant,out there you'll find plenty of parking space because it is so close to the public parking. As you go down the stairs you'll see a cute,clean and well decorated dining area but be careful of your steps because of unleveled floor. I liked their menu, it was nice and unlike the other Japanese restaurant in the area that served almost the same type of food they also serve poke and boba tea. Me and my wife both ordered the ramen and a salmon roll,I had the tonkotsu and hers is tofu and veggies and they were both delicious and tasty. The roll is also very good. Before we get our food they served us a small salad to start and that is included with the meal. I would say that I am happy with my first experience in this restaurant but they're a bit pricey though. read more

I'm reluctant to leave this review because the service was excellent, definitely 5 Star service. Unfortunately we drove almost an hour to eat lunch here after hearing they had good Ramen. However when the Ramen arrived it was served with spaghetti noodles and not ramen noodles... ruined the entire dish and experience. I've never been served ramen with spaghetti noodles. The price was also hard to swallow. We paid the same price we pay for Ramen in San Francisco only the portion here was half the size with half the amount of protein. Broth was good and the pork was exceptional, but to pay as much as we do in California for half the portion and to have it served with spaghetti left so much to be desired. read more

Cool place in the basement of a brick building. I come here often for bubble tea and ramen. Their boba is super fresh and there are many flavors to choose from. I love the spicy miso ramen and I always get 2 meals out of it. They have one of the best sweet potato tempura sushi rolls I've ever had too. Go here and you won't be disappointed!! read more

I would say that this was a hidden gem except they were busy when we got there and were still busy when we left. The restaurant is down the stairs from another restaurant and I might have missed it if I hadn't looked closer. What a pleasant surprize. We started with a couple appetizers. I have had both of these in restaurants literally around the country. The first was hamachi with jalapeno lighly dressed with ponzu. It came out looking like a flower. The pieces of fish were arranged in a circle and in the middle was rice noodles with an actual flower on top. It was as good as anything I've ever had and was about half the price I've paid for the same dish. Then we had an order of fried dumplings that were fresh and crispy and served with a delicious dipping sauce. For our entrees we both ordered Ramen. There was a nice selection and we both ordered one with a mushroom and pork broth that had the thin noodles, nice sized pieces of pork along with mushrooms, bean sprouts, corn and, of course, the seasoned egg. Absolutely delicious. We were going to the Maine State Music Theater and I told our waitress that we were in a little hurry and she got us out in plenty of time. I spend the summer about a 50 minute drive from there but I'll go back again. It's worth the drive. read more

Literally the best in town. The food is amazing, the drinks are epic, and it is adorable here. They have milk tea, chai tea, and oolong specialty teas, that you can add stuff like boba, toppings, and milk. The building itself is pretty neat as well. The food is amazing but the service is not all that great.. they seem to only have one waiter for the whole place. I've been several times, really love the food but the service needs work. Recently my husband, our two children and I went for his birthday dinner. We ordered noodles for the children which never came and my husbands favorite sushi roll was put in as a different role. At the end of the meal our waiter finally came to check in us and said he never put in the order for the noodles, was not apologetic about the wrong sushi role, charged us for everything and we went home to cook more food because we were all still hungry. Have tried Watami a couple of times and each time I find them to be tasty and consistent. I think they really shine with their Udon and bowls. I have tried their sushi and I do not care for it. AhhhhhhMAZING!!! What a refreshing place to eat after this crazy covid lull - where so many other eateries are lacking, huge. Not this eatery! First, it's CLEAN, inviting, and the staff are friendly. The food is FRESH! And soooooo tasty, mostly healthy too! Do NOT be afraid of the fruit slushees that say "cheese"! I had a "cheese mango" fruit slushee (which had the consistency of a smoothie, not too watery) and it was SO good that I can't stop craving another. If I could describe the cheese that's they put on the top layer of the slushees, it's like a whipped cream cheese blended with whipped cream. It compliments the fruit flavor slushee perfectly. Mine definitely had real mango in it, not mango flavor. I also had the avocado salad, so perfect! I had a fried shrimp and mango roll, mmmm!!! The miso soup is rich in flavor, unlike some other places that serve it also. Their noodle stir fry was super delicious, perfectly balanced flavors. My husband had one of the ramen bowls, gorgeous and huge! It was better than the ramen we had at a popular NYC place. My father-in-law had the pork stir fried rice, it was the best looking I've ever seen. He enjoyed it. Our picky toddler was NOT a picky eater here, he gobbled everything up too! Even the way the kids' water cups were served was thoughtful. I never saw our toddler look so excited to see a cup of water! We live a little over an hour away but we will always come here when in town!
