Table for 1 Pai Men Miyake is one of those places where you can't help but over order, EVERYTHING here is hypnotically delicious. It's like I go into a trance when ordering and don't realize what I've done until the plates start rolling in. And I regret nothing. I regrettably haven't been in a while so I ordered, almost, all my favorites. The pork buns, the heavenly pork braised to perfection and crisped before being nestled in chewy house made buns with a gochujang mayo and pepper relish. It's the first thing I ever ordered here, my love bite and I've been hooked since. "EAT YOUR BRUSSELS SPROUTS!!" Is never something demanded inside these walls, but the echo of ordering them is. Fries to perfecting and dressed with fish sauce, lime, mint, cilantro and scallion. It is in this chaos you will find perfection. For the love of.....hamayaki?! What's not to love about crab and scallops covered in kewpie mayo and broiled? NOTHING, the answer is nothing. If no one was looking I'd eat this with my hands. It's basically dessert with a hint of truffle oil. Tantanmen Ramen is dripping with homey comfort with its rich pork and chicken broth perfectly seasoned. Its light spice hits the spot on chilly fall nights just enough to warm you up and just make you feel good inside. Trying to reheat this one is tricky so e sure to save room to finish most of it. And now, a nap.

Not a thing to mention. It's just as good as everyone says it is. The noodles and broth in the ramen are genuinely in their own lane in Portland. The lobster buns are a must if you can get them. I'm pretty sure it's 10 for one but that's worth it in my opinion. I always opt for the Shojin Ramen and it is always a hit. Their outdoor seating section is wonderful in the summer. Unfortunately I have never dined inside but the interior is nice and always full but the staff is always pleasant.

Food was delish !! I got the beef short rib ramen and the beef was fall apart melt in your mouth yumminess!! the perfect dish for a chilly day, and the pricing wasn't bad either next time i'll be trying the chicken shio ramen! 5/5

I had a random craving for ramen and luckily found this cozy little spot just around the corner from where we were staying. We both ordered ramen and shared a pork bun, which was hands down, the BEST bun I've ever had. The portions were generous (we could barely finish), and while the service was quick, we never felt rushed. If the weather's cool, grab a seat outside, there's something extra comforting about enjoying a hot bowl of ramen in the fresh air. Highly recommend and would eat here again.

Came to Pai Men Miyake on a rainy day for ramen and it did not disappoint. I love love love miso ramen so I ordered that (and subbed the pork belly for tofu, which was so flavorful). They don't skimp on the broth or contents here, so I had plenty to take home. We also tried their sushi for the first time which also hit the spot.

I cannot stop thinking about the katsudon rice bowl for real! The mushrooms were life changing. I have no clue how they cooked them but they were so meaty, umami and sweet at the same time. Genuinely the best mushroom I have ever had! The pork was perfectly cooked, not chewy and very crispy and the egg 'noodles' were a really nice component in the bowl. My friend got the tokyo abura ramen and also enjoyed! But we agreed the mushrooms were the star of the show. Definitely will be making a return trip for them!!

Gave it three visits before leaving a review, and I'm not buying into this bandwagon, guys. Yes, the ramen is okay... but it's not the best I've ever had. Call it an unfair comparison, but the ramen I had in Japantown in San Fran... now *that's* a fantastic bowl of ramen. My second visit to Pai Men was the best experience, having tried three times and three varieties. The miso was the best, imo. The broth is great and the chashu is also great. The Tantanmen was not like a soup at all, more like a spaghetti ragu with an entire diced white onion on top. The pork bun is the highlight. One of the best small bites I've had of anything anywhere. If you go for a lunch special, you can get a bowl plus one bun (or other app) for about $24. At these absurd prices, I'm more than content with microwave ramen over this.

I've come here twice within the past couple weeks and so far, very consistent service and food quality. It's a cozy little spot probably better suited for smaller groups and they offer delicious food and great cocktails! It's a bit pricey, however the portion sizes are perfect. If you are looking for a nice Japanese restaurant, this is good place to start. Can't wait to try the rest of their menu!

Cute ramen place to stop on a hot day in Portland. We were in town visiting and were craving ramen. The place was clean and service was attentive and helpful. The ramen was kinda on the salty side even for ramen. The Brussels sprouts were delicious and a little too salty as well. Would have been nice if there was a light sweetest to them. Overall it meant the craving and we had a great time.

Chicken Karaage

My husband and I visited this cozy little restaurant in Portland a few weeks ago. It was well kept and felt clean. The staff were respectful and the service was fairly quick. I got the grapefruit honey spritz and I was so happy with it. It was the perfect fruity drink that wasn't overly sweet. The pork buns were also incredible! We really enjoyed these and they were the perfect app to our meal. We also got the chicken Karaage and it was a great flavor and very light and crispy. Sadly, neither of us were huge fans of the ramen we got. The flavors were off in both of them and we left a lot of it untouched. For a ramen restaurant, we were expecting to love the ramen especially after everything else was so great! I do think we'd come back again for the amazing small plates and drinks but we'd probably skip the Ramen.

We were here for dinner on a Saturday night. The wait were about an hour. The staff took our name and number then we decided to walk around the area. When we finally seated, our waitress took our order pretty quickly. She was polite and friendly. The ramen were just decent. It was not bad but nothing special. We love the yuzu kosho chicken karaage. It was really good. This place is worth visiting but definitely not worth waiting an hour.

Katsudon

Don't know why it took me so long to try out Pai Men Miyake.. what a cozy spot with that Congress St energy! My friend had the Lobster Miso Ramen, and I opted for the Katsudon. Wowow. I was craving donburi, and I cleaned that bowl up. It was exactly what I needed -- perfect comfort food with the right amount of tonkatsu sauce and steamed egg delight. Nothing crazy special but everything just right. My friend enjoyed her ramen but the lobster was a bit of work to get the meat out of the tail with chopsticks. I had a cocktail but it wasn't that memorable. It's nice that there is an "Asian twist" on their cocktails but about half are pretty simple. The service staff did their best, while attending to 2DineIn orders, etc.

Almost definitely the best ramen in Maine. The lobster miso is also one of the best lobster dishes I've had in a restaurant.

There's records being thrown down, cool lighting, nice decor and even super friendly folks. The employees here are beyond nice and welcoming. Like they know what they are doing here and they are offering you an experience that is fun and funky. We started off with two drinks. One was called a salad of some sort (sorry, blacked out) and it was delicious. The other was just as good. Ordered the eggplant app - do not leave without this. Absolutely amazing. For food, we ordered a rice bowl with pork sausage and a noodle bowl (with lobster and clams). Don't remember the names. Both were absolutely fantastic. The flavor profiles are just incredible. The rice bowl had so many things happening. Just terrific. The noodle bowl has a broth that you would drink daily. There wasn't one thing that could have made these dishes any better. Do not leave without dessert. Read that again!!! Get the honey sundae. This is what dreams are made of. You will question reality. No matter how stuffed you think you are, order this. Service: Great Food: We started off with soft serve and the seasonal earl gray outshined the house honey. The earl gray had a great flavor topped with an excellent syrup while the honey was mild and the chocolate shell didn't add anything, although the 'honeycomb' bits were delic. Crispy eggplant special - good, very small portion Pork katsu sandwich - pretty solid, interesting pickle Pad mee korat - good, small portion Value: Aside from the soft serve, the portions were very small for ~$17 price point, and the food was good but aside from the earl gray soft serve, didn't amaze to the point of paying a higher price point. Overall I did like this meal but portions were small for prices. I hope they keep the earl gray soft serve around!

Great flavor, nice crisp wonton, just a wonderful rangoon experience! Pork pot stickers: mmm, love me some pot stickers, and these lived up to my expectations, great flavor and texture! Sa cha chicken skewers: so very tender, great flavor, would gladly eat again! Garlic meatball skewers: good flavor, nice dipping sauce, happy we added these to our selection. Shanghai soup dumplings: in general a fun food item, great flavor and they were highly recommended by the everyone who suggested we eat here. Mongolian beef: the beef had great flavor, the broccoli was cooked properly, not mushy, the onions were well caramelized; delicious! Har gow: good flavor, nice steamed dumplings, glad we tried them! Their last day of service is 8/31/25 announced recently on their social media accounts. My wife and I knew we needed to make one more trip here and glad to say we got one more visit in! The vibes have been similar over the past couple years during our visits. They have a tropical/island vibe with Asian inspired menu items along with some late night bites. They also do a phenomenal job with cocktails, and I would add mocktails as well which my wife and I each tried one tonight. Looks wise you would not even be able to tell it was non-alcoholic and the flavors were great too. I got their Platonic Best Friend which had a good spice to it, while my wife got the Lack of Meow that she loved. Food wise we each got a Double Patty Burger and split an order of the house fries. Both were just as good as all our other visits and the fries were even more seasoned than normal. We will miss both burgers and fries and especially the dipping sauce that comes with the fries. Lastly we had never tried their dessert and the Maine Blueberry Cake they had sounded so tempting, my wife's favorite fruit is blueberries. Every bite was amazing and my wife even said it was the fastest she has ever eaten a dessert. Was the perfect end cap to our final visit to Paper Tiger! We will miss this being a late night spot for us to grab a burger while people watching the madness of Fore Street bars closing. Service was fantastic with no complaints. The only negative I could mention is that talking to our server about being sad about them closing and they let us know the staff only found out about it one day before the social media post went out. Leaving them with minimal time to find another job. Hope they all can find a new job right away. If you have the chance before they close get over here for one last drink or bite!

They lean heavy into the Tiger theme here. The place is totally decked out in knick knacks, artwork, and more. It's cozy but chic, with huge booths on the other side of the bar, good for big drunken outings I imagine, considering how they are known for their late night scene. We chose the small but comfy wicker chairs at the bar and got glasses of wine - $2 off on happy hour! Our bartender was super sweet and helped us with our order. We got the double smash burger and Szechuan wings with Thai chili sauce on the side. Food came out hella quick. The wings were little but they were so *crispy* and the Szechuan seasoning was tasty and not too overpowering. It was rated as 3 chili peppers on the menu but I didn't really detect any spice. Thai chili was sweet, tangy, solid. Our burger was good. I imagine it's modeled after a Big Mac - had all similar ingredients - just better beef, pickles, etc. It went down easy. I think I was just missing more flavor, maybe a little greasier, something cravable. But hey, if you've been out drinking and you need a late night snack, I guarantee that puppy will hit the spot. Their cocktail menu is an attraction in and of itself. The more you read through it, the more hilarious and charming it is. We will definitely be back to try some of them, especially one of their "party" bowls meant for multiple guests. Love the innovation and playfulness here! Can't wait to return!
