The newest Thai restaurant to open up in Westbrook with their first day open being today. Parking is easy since they have a lot for businesses nearby. Greeted as soon as we stepped inside and chose a table to sit at. They offer a lot of Thai favorites and have an extensive sushi menu available as well!. After my wife and I placed our orders one of the owners came over and gave us each a fried dumpling and spring roll on the house. Both were cooked perfectly crispy and had great taste including the sauce they gave with them! It took no time at all for our meals to show up which I got Pad Thai and added duck and my wife got Pad See Ew with duck. Both were large portions and came out hot and tasted delicious. Both of us would like to return and either get these dishes again or try new things! This is a spot I think deserves attention and can't wait to return. Very friendly staff and owner who made us feel welcome! If you want sushi or Thai add this to your list of places to check out.

New Thai restaurant in Westbrook. Service was quick and friendly. They have a few tables inside. I got the pad see ew and the flavor was delicious. The portion was large too for the price. Overall I would dine in or get take out here again!

Everything was great including the service/staff. You can tell they really care about the customers satisfaction. We had Takoyaki, Pork Larb, Papaya Salad, as well as the complimentary spring rolls they gave us. The Takoyaki was perfection! Crispy, fluffy, savory, and creamy. Love the Benito flakes on top. The Larb was very flavorful and tastes traditional/authentic. We loved it. The Papaya salad was also on point. Perfect amount of acidity and spice. And lastly their complimentary spring rolls were Great. Light and super crunchy with fresh thinly sliced vegetable inside. We really enjoyed all aspects of this establishment, a plan on returning, as well as recommending to others.

Such a great experience! I tried the drunken noodles and a spicy tuna roll and both were incredible. The noodles were flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the spicy tuna roll was fresh and perfectly made. Everything tasted authentic and the service was great. Highly recommend!

The food was great! Didn't eat at the restaurant so I cannot comment on service or cleanliness. I will order from there again. Loved it

One of the biggest changes has been the complete turnover of the staff. All of the original people who made the place welcoming and enjoyable seem to be gone, and the difference has absolutely shown in both the service and overall experience. The food quality has become inconsistent and, at times, marginal compared to what originally brought us in. We've also dealt with repeated order mistakes, inattentive service, and an overall lack of attention to detail during several recent visits. Everyone understands that restaurants can have an off night, but this has become a pattern rather than an exception. What was especially disappointing was that we took the time to privately contact ownership about these concerns and never received any response at all. We weren't looking for compensation or special treatment, just acknowledgment and some indication that customer feedback mattered. Kume had a lot of promise when it first opened, which makes this frustrating to write. Unfortunately, based on our recent experiences, the quality control, consistency, and customer service are no longer close to where they once were.

Delightful, truly authentic Japanese dining in Portland…read more We were visiting for an overnight mini vacation and stopped in for a nice lunch before heading back home. What caught my eye the chalkboard listing fish that one sees at high-end sushi restaurants. Fresh fish flown in from all over but not ignoring the amazing local farm to table items (or in this case, net to table). Our dishes were prepared expertly and amazingly good. I haven't had a Japanese dining experience like this since we were in New York. The wait staff are absolutely amazing. The ladies there were chatting with our kids, teaching and correcting their Japanese, and clearly tickled by the conversation. The decor is nicely subdued, but comfortable. This would be a great place for a first date, or to celebrate a nice event like a new job or an outing with someone special. Highly recommended.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken, which was absolutely delicious and a surprisingly large portion. The rice that came with it was perfect--light, fluffy, and exactly how Japanese rice should be. I also tried the tempura udon, which was light, refreshing, and hit the spot. The shrimp and vegetable tempura on the side were spot on: crisp, golden, and not greasy at all. The portions are generous and the quality is top-notch. Clean, modern and in a tastefully designed space where the owner is warm and welcoming. If you need a change of pace from seafood, or just want excellent Japanese food in Portland, Benkay is a must.

My boyfriend and I went for hibachi on Valentine's Day. We did have to wait about 20-30 mins for hibachi to start since we got paired with strangers. Once the service started, it was fantastic. We had a reservation so were seated immediately. We each got water and then a scorpion bowl for two. They light the center which is cool and it comes with super long straws which is a fun touch. We got gyoza for the appetizer which is always so good. The dipping sauce is delicious. Hibachi is always so fun. Dinner and a show. The chef loves including everyone. Saki shots, getting the vegetables launched into your mouth, and the onion volcano are all so fun. I always get filet mignon. Hibachi comes with the mini salad and soup to start. Everyone gets two shrimp, rice, noodles, and vegetables, in addition to the chosen protein. It's like dinner theater. It's always a great experience and the food is amazing. I will continue to keep coming back to Kon!

The hibachi grill "show" is exactly what you would expect. The flames, the spinning egg, the spatula banging/drumming, the onion flaming volcano, the tossing pieces of food so the customers can catch it in their mouth, and squirting sake directly into your mouth. I haven't been to hibachi grill in at least 15 years...nothing has changed. Exactly the same. The grill guy was very enthusiastic, funny, and gave my daughter a balloon when he was finished cooking. The food portions are generous. We both brought about half our meal. The food was fresh. The flavors were average...like they intentionally made them basic for the most common denominator. I did like each portion included both rice and noodles. The meal also comes with a small salad (very basic) and a clear broth soup which was better than I expected. The price is reasonable.
