    Uni and toro
    John Z.

I stopped in knowing what I was going to get. Uni and Toro. Both were just "okay". The Uni had a little bite to it which I have not had in the past. The toro was much tougher to bite into and the taste was disappointing. I've added a picture so you can see the presentation was very nice Likely not return.

The atmosphere was wonderful. Our server Jimmy was wonderful! Their menu is big and he gave us plenty of time to look and ask questions! The specialty cocktails were delicious! I got a sampling of appetizers, my husband and daughter each got sushi! It was delicious! It was very busy and service was prompt! I can't wait to go back!

I ordered the Pink Lady Roll. We also enjoyed edamame and fried rice. All delicious. I highly recommend the Pink Lady Roll - especially if you like spicy. Unfortunately, they were out of green beans- one of my friends' favorite dim sum here.

One of my weekly regular spots. Usually fairly empty for lunch (my favorite time to go). Prices are pretty reasonable, and their dim sum menu is soooooo good. A great addition to south portland!!

This was a super fun place to come! Especially for lunch. We sat at the bar but there is plentiful seating. They have so much variety of food items. The service was great. We got to try drinks, an app, and a meal! They had so many options. Every drink you could think of. We got to witness the employees eating a "family meal" which was great. The space was beautiful with decorations and just an overall concept of an Asian menu. Such a great place to dine in. We will definitely be coming back!

Plenty of parking here, as Kume shares a large lot with neighboring businesses in the plaza. The interior has a very modern, clean, light colored design. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our drinks and foods were delivered quite promptly. The rolls were beautiful plated and my chicken dish was a generous size. Service here is top notch. Everyone seems to have a job and works collectively, rather than just by table assignment. Empty dishes are removed immediately, waters are filled often, and you are checked in on frequently. My son and I had a great lunch here and will be returning. He especially enjoyed taking pictures with the large red sumo wrestler that's affixed to the sidewalk near the entrance.

Sushi at Kume does not disappoint! Consistently good, inventive. The pan fried bao (on side menu) is sharable and also delicious.

So delicious, cannot believe it wasn't packed when we went at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. Everything was quick and delicious and inside is just so cute you can tell they really put some work into the space. Tried the clear soup, the dinosaur egg (fun to get once but a bit too much fried for my liking), and duck buns - will be back for the lobster Rangoon Had the Hawaii roll - probably top 10 rolls I've ever had the pineapple was such a unique touch and made the roll so good. Pink Lady roll was amazing as well and balance the slight sweetness of the Hawaii roll. I usually do not like avocado in my sushi but almost everything we ordered had avocado in it and I wouldn't hesitate to get it again. My husband and I were worried the two rolls wouldn't be enough but we were both stuffed. Fairly priced especially for quality and quantity.

Our first time to Kume and we were definitely impressed! Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a strip mall turn you away. Just look for the big red sumo wrestler out front! We walked into a beautifully decorated and bright space. The decor is lovely. There is a huge lit up bar to the left, which we chose to sit at. My husband and I each had a salad. Normally salads at sushi restaurants are tiny, but this one was bigger than normal. Fresh vegetables, and a great ginger dressing. My husband had the seaweed salad, which he also enjoyed. We ordered sushi which came on a lovely tray. I would have to say that this is some of the best sushi in the area! We had the dynamite roll, spicy tuna roll, beauty and the beast, and king of king roll. All were excellent. Highlight was the king of king roll. This was very large and rich, but delicious with real king crab, avocado, and cheese, topped with more avocado and king crab. The server was very friendly, and while there were a lot of people in there, our meals came out quickly. We also got to watch college football on the big TVs over the bar. We will definitely be back!

The food was so flavorful, quickly prepared, and very creative with its presentation. Local sourcing and very high-quality ingredients. The service was on point, the ambiance was warm and relaxing, and the value was more than reasonable. The same meal in Portland would have easily cost forty percent more. I wish I had taken pictures of the meal, but I was tired and hungry and just forgot. My burger and fries were spot on. The fries stayed crispy from the beginning to the end. The burger meat was fresh and very tasty. The dessert was next level, and I did get a picture before eating it, lol. Whether you stay at the hotel or not, City Farmhouse is always an excellent choice.

The lunch menu appeared interesting however it took so long to get our food and when it finally was served several items that supposedly came with the meal were "unavailable". Since we were the only people in the restaurant we could not understand why it took forever to get our food. Each of us was disappointed when it did come. My fish sandwich had very little fish in it and what there was was strangely "rubbery". What would normally be an hour's lunch took two hours by the time we got our food and ate. We could not understand what was going on in the kitchen. Our server was pleasant but it did not make up for the overall experience. Will not return.

Highly recommended: salt cod, foie gras truffles, pasta with guanciale. I had a smash burger (special) which was a bit too much -- needed one fewer item from the rich salty umami family of flavors, every bite good on its own but a LOT as a dish. Service was wonderful; my friend mentioned that she loved chocolate mousse but was too full for dessert, and our server brought us a to go portion as a bonus with the check. And it was awesome (topped with hazelnuts, sea salt, and a drizzle of olive oil, very good idea well executed).

We got a text reminder as well as phone call reminder leading up to our reservation. On the day of our reservation we were greeted with a warm smiled and directed to our seats. What I can say is that the soup was my favorite and the turkey breast was not in the slightest dry. The short ribs were my friends favorite and we both loved the pumpkin budin. Service was polite and efficient and te music was upbeat and lively, despite the restaurant emiting a dark romantic vibe. I'm really thankful that they had reservations available and that the food was delicious since many restaurants in the area were already booked out. Thank you Wayside Tavern for a delicious meal!

Before I rip them a new one, let me be totally up front and say the service was very good. Like many places in the Portland area, they're short staffed, and the people who work there are doing the best they can. Friendly, like genuinely friendly and nice waitstaff. They're doing the best they can with too few people. So, to be clear if any management read this? Your staff is fantastic. The food? That's another story. They used to have things on the menu like roasted Brussels Sprouts with all kinds of delicious. There was a pot roast, cooked over three days, which melted in your mouth, with truffle oil and parsnips and carrots. The cocktails? WAY above par. Now you may as well go to Applebees. Over seasoned, boring, and generally NOT worth the money by a long shot. It just tastes like all the other places who use Sysco or Gordon foods. I had the burger, which was so average. I mean REMARKABLY average. Yes, the lettuce on it was actually not just boring iceberg, but that doesn't make up for serving someone a mass produced, firmly packed slab with way too much salt. It says it's some fancy farm beef, but it sure as heck didn't taste like it. The dish my wife had was similar. Some decent ingredients but for the most part it was literally no better than what you'd get in something in a mall. WAY too much salt, way too little flavor. I also ordered a Manhattan. In a Manhattan, the forward flavor should be the whiskey (rye or bourbon or whatever). All I could taste was vermouth. AND it was served in a highball glass with a massive ice cube, and it was warm. The ingredients should go in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, with ice, then stirred for at least 15 seconds while stirring. It should be served in a cocktail glass like a coup or a martini glass which has been chilled. Mine was in a highball glass. Not sure what happened, but I'm sure profits had something to do with it. You've got dozens of better choices in easy walking distance.

We also enjoyed the hand cut fries - can add truffle powder to it - and the spelt bread. For cocktails I had the dirty moon martini, which was just the right amount of dirt. My guest and I shared the country bread to start, and it immediately set the tone. It had a subtle sweetness against a beautifully salty texture, which made it far more memorable than bread service usually is, comforting and refined at once. I had the steak tartare temaki and the tagliatelle, and both were outstanding. The tartare was clean, balanced, and quietly confident, with excellent texture and flavor. The tagliatelle was just as impressive, rich and satisfying without ever feeling heavy. Both dishes felt composed rather than overworked, which made them all the more memorable. My guest had the salad and the salmon, and those were equally well executed. Everything that came to the table felt thoughtful, polished, and deeply appealing without trying too hard. The dulce at the end was a lovely finish, understated but exactly right. The only small note is that the room was a bit robustly noisy, especially for an early reservation. Even so, the quality of the food and the assurance of the kitchen carried the experience. What stood out most was the consistency. Every dish felt considered, every flavor felt intentional, and the entire meal had a calm sense of confidence that is harder to find than it should be. We ordered the Texas Tonion against our better judgment - you know fried foods, don't need the extra calories, etc. and split the Outlaw Ribeye. The bone-in ribeye is 20 oz, although it looked larger than that, and the bone was small. We definitely made the right decision to share because after we finished, we were way too full. The Tonion came with its own sauce (couldn't figure out what any of the ingredients were), and it was well seasoned, so a little too salty for me. I love that the Caesar salad was ice cold on a frozen plate - that's the type of detail I expect from every restaurant but rarely get. It was a good thing that bread was a honey wheat loaf; I only eat sourdough or white enriched flour, so I only had a couple of bites (that's a good thing!). We asked for the ribeye to be medium rare, and that's the way it came. While several bites were slightly chewy, in all, it tasted very good. The potato was baked perfectly, very fluffy! Samantha was a very attentive server. She was very professional; she didn't flinch when we shared a dinner and didn't order drinks (due more to dietary reasons rather than monetary). She checked up on us multiple times, and even when there was a misunderstanding, she quickly fixed the issue before I could explain what I thought might have happened. The only improvement I would suggest is actually in their bathroom... that soap is way watered down, so it took multiple tries to clean my hands from eating those Tonions. I try not to go to chains, but this was a very positive experience, and I also thought the prices were of good value. I would suggest giving this place a try and use their waitlist so that you can cut down on wait time.
