Chicken katsu ramen
Amy M.

My partner and I came here for dinner and it was busy! This is great and the host was diligent. She let us know a wait time or we could eat at the bar. We decided to eat at the bar which doesn't bother us. The dragon bowl drink was good, nothing to shake a stick at other than the size. Our food came out a little later which was hot and tasty. The beef was well seasoned and so was the broth. The chicken katsu bowl was also tasty and my partner enjoyed it. There was good music and plenty of people who seemed satisfied. The reason I'm not giving a higher rating is because of a lack of intervention. There were 3 people ( 2 male presenting, and 1 female presenting) at the bar next to us. They were a little too drunk and began speaking very loudly about some inappropriate sexual topics/ fantasies about children. It truly made our night unpleasant which we acknowledge is not the restaurant's fault. However, multiple staff members had made faces at the conversation yet never stopped serving them or asked them to stop. Having comments about "she looked barely legal" followed by "not even sure if she was, but I'd totally hit again" while eating made me want to never come back. Especially since the bartender or any other staff who heard these comments did nothing. I hope that something in staff training changes so that no one else may experience this.

Edamame - salty and hot!

We had heard good things about Ichiban and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! Michigan took over the old Dizzy Birds location and is a super addition to the expanding food scene in Biddeford. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. The fried items were light and didn't taste at all oily. The restaurant was really busy, but didn't sound too noisy. The decor is classic and neat. Our server was attentive and quick to take our orders. The kitchen filled our orders quickly too. We'll be back soon!

Vegetable lomein $14. hot and spicy chicken with fried rice $16.75. I ordered it four stars out of five for spiciness -very good.

A friend of mine and I went to this restaurant on a recommendation from another friend. It had previously been a rotisserie chicken buffet place. It has been totally remodeled apparently with high-quality floors, walls, furniture, etc. The service was amazing, the food/menu was amazing, the price was very reasonable. I would definitely go back again 10 times.

Steak and Salmon

The food here is very good. Their salad is the best-the only salad I want to eat everyday really. The salmon/steak/ bento box always hits the spot. Very good customer service. There's a reason why there's some wait times during rush hour but it's worth the wait.

12 piece Sashimi & Rice with an octopus topping

I love that Japanese restaurants are popping up all over Biddeford and South Portland. Ichiban is a delight. We went for lunch and got the 12 piece sashimi lunch special. It comes with rice & miso soup. I added the salad. It was all fresh & delicious. The only thing I did not like was the octopus on the rice but my date happily gobbled it up. All this for about $20. Great deal! I will be back often.

I have gotten togo and have dined in the restaurant. Both times the food was delicious and served quickly. The restaurant is clean and staff was friendly. Only negative I experienced while there was my waitress wasn't very present and never checked in on me. It wasn't very busy and she appeared to be busy in the back or something. I had to go to front to request my check. Besides that, the food was wonderful and the space was clean and comfortable. I would definitely dine there again. Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Tuna sashimi

One of my favorite spots! The crab rangoon's are amazing. The sushi is top tier and the hibachi is as well! The staff are great and it's a great spot for lunch or dinner!

Sashimi lunch special.

The service was very good and she was extremely accommodating with any requests. The Kobe Punch was yummy and we had no complaints about the food. Although we don't like sushi, it's very cool to have the sushi bar available for people to watch the chefs make it! Kobe is a good option for food and there's nothing wrong with it, but I don't think this is our top pick for hibachi.

Pro Tip: Do not be seated after 8:15…read more To start, we are go here often for sushi, it's local and delicious. Tonight's experience was however different and super disappointing. We came in for a little celebration with our daughter. We were greeted at the door and promptly sat, party of 8. We ordered our food and drinks, some alcoholic. Soon after, we noticed staff was starting to mop and clean the floors. After finishing our first round of drinks they cut us off 9:17, because they said they close at 9:30. No heads up. We also didn't get soup that was supposed to go with our meals because ' they weren't available ' !? Anyways, I suggested that if they have no intention on giving a good service, to just not seat people. It's disappointing to spend a lot of money in this economy for meh service. The waitress however was super nice and tried her hardest given the circumstances she was given by management.

We had such an incredible time at James Beard finalist for 2026: Izakaya Minato…read more We decided to head up to Maine for my birthday and this was the place I was the most excited to try the entire weekend. Given that my wife and I are from Los Angeles, we have always been craving great sushi on the East Coast so we decided to go with the nine course Omakase at Izakaya Minato. It was such a special experience, ranging from the bar seating which allow us to see everything that was happening behind the scenes in the kitchen, to the incredible service from the multitude of servers who served us throughout the night, to the incredible food for a great price. I could see why Izakaya Minato got the credit it deserved as a James Beard finalist this year. Make sure you stop and give it a try!

This spot was recommended by a friend, so we said why not? Izakaya Minato is a tapas style…read morerestaurant, where everything are small bites and meant to be shared amongst the table, or you can order the omakase, where they decide what to give the entire table 5 different dishes for $45. We decided to do a la carte to try out a handful of dishes, while also making sure we were substantially full between the four of us. Probably the most expensive bite available here is the Uni Spoon ($7), which features a Maine sea urchin, raw quail egg yolk, with a dash of ponzu and tobiko, all served on a spoon. Well worth the splurge IMO. Other dishes that stood out to me included the Razor Clam Motoyaki ($11), Toro Zuke ($22), and the Beef Yukke ($15), which had a nice slight spicy kick. If you're looking for a more filling dish, I'd get the Kimchi Cha-han ($9), which is their kimchi fried rice dish, or their Okonomiyaki ($13), which is a cabbage pancake.
