I visited Jin Sushi for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant seems to be oriented primarily towards takeaway. I wanted to dine in, which was fine, though my food was still served in takeout containers. I ordered the "cauliflower pop" appetizer, tekka maki (tuna sushi), and tombo (a sushi roll containing cold albacore tuna, shiso, scallion, and ginger). The cauliflower app was fried and battered and covered in a sweet/spicy sauce very much like a General Tso sauce. Unfortunately I think what should have been a crispy texture was very soft and mushy, probably due to the sauce, and maybe how it was packed in a closed plastic container (despite it being served to a customer only a few feet away in the small dining room). The sushi was much better, both rolls being very tasty. The tombo roll had a particularly interesting and fresh taste to it. Yelp asks that a reviewer cover food, service, and ambiance. There was zero ambiance. Negative ambiance. I don't know what to say about that lol. read more

Jin Sushi and Ramen is a great spot with an excellent pedigree, growing from roots in Japan and from Pai Men Miyaki in Portland. The decor is simple but nice. It's not the fanciest place you'll find, but it d9ssnt affect the food at all. We enjoyed veggie Gyoza and edamame to start, as well as a Beef Bulgogi bowl, veggie Ramen (excellent homemade noodles!), a Veggie Poke bowl, and some spicy tuna rolls. Everything was really tasty! Jin's has continued to be a small, cozy treasure in Saco. I have an autistic daughter in love with Japanese culture, so it's a great place for her to explore and experiment with food. Some of the staff have become very familiar with us, so the friendliness pushes things to another level. read more

Hidden little sushi gem right here in the heart of Saco! The menu has a delightful mix of Asian dishes - I recently tried the Korean fried chicken which was quite tasty! You can tell the chef cares about quality as everything that came out of the kitchen or from the sushi bar was visually appealing, plated immaculately & tasted wonderful! The staff is friendly & knowledgeable. I look forward to going back! My only complaint is the brightness in the dining area - I really wish the lights were a smidge dimmer! This spot is dangerously unsafe for celiacs. I ordered off the supposed special gluten free menu, only to be told "oh...but there is a LITTLE gluten in that soup". As if this would not still give me migraines, heart palpitations, and painful....well, guess. The single working bathroom was dirty, with peeling paint and cracked tiles. Came here with my sister when I was up visiting her and I have to say everything was exceptional. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by both our server and the sushi chefs. We sat and were given water as we looked over the menu. Our server came over and asked if we had any questions and we did. All our questions were answered and recommendations were given. We ordered the gyoza, bao buns, and cauliflower pop to start. Everything was amazing! For our entrees we had the shrimp tempura roll, yummy roll, beef bulgogi ramen, and my sister got a pork ramen again everything was tasty, fresh, and a good portion. All of their wonton wrappers and noodles are made homemade in house and they are incredible. Would highly recommended Jin to anyone. read more

I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Jin's sushi. Sometimes with smaller sushi shops like this, you can roll the dice on quality. However, I found their sushi to be better than most small or chain sushi restaurants. Both the fish and the rice were fresh, which basically are the two most important things. I got the Boston roll (basic salmon and avocado) and the Mexican roll. To me, the Mexican roll was the biggest gamble because sometimes rolls that come with spicy sauce and tobiko on top can be over powering, or they use sauce because the roll/fish isn't fresh and the tobiko can end up fishy. But in this case everything was well balanced, fresh, and delicious. I added avocado to the roll which was an amazing add because who doesn't like avocado? The best part was the little pops of tobiko in my mouth. The miso soup was a little salty and the edamame seemed a little over steamed, but to me the sushi is the star of the show and what really determines the success of a restaurant. I got take out so i can't speak to the service but I can tell you the take out service was fast, easy, and operated smoothly. read more

Trust me, I really want to like this place. I've tried their ramen on three different occasions, and now recently their sushi. The ramen is nothing to write to mom and dad about and certainly doesn't bring home the taste of Osaka, Japan, and New York where Chef Hwansoo studied. It also failed to reflect the art from his experience and time with Pai Men Miyake. Just bland and it's one of those dishes that your order if you're in Saco, you're craving Ramen, and close to "I don't care let me have it" Then few bites and slurps in, you're an already bummed and should have sucked it up and drive 20 minutes to Portland. Today I gave it my fourth shot. I finally tried their sushi. Boy howdy. I was legit disappointed in the presentation. Granted I ordered delivery. Delivery other than Pizza and Chinese always seems to fail presentation. I ordered the Miso soup, Maine roll, and Crunchy spicy tuna roll. Miso broth was right there, and probably the best out of the whole ordeal. Maine and crunchy spicy tuna roll arrived with eggs smashed, and rice on both rolls stuck to each other making each bit fall apart. Rice was also very out of place and not in a perfect roll. Overall, it was a hot mess of an unintended deconstructed roll. So I ended up looking very forward to this meal coming from a spot where Chef Hwansoo takes great pride in his background, was nothing but being led on by another designer portfolio where it looks great, but when you hire them, they weren't as advertised. Do better. Double-check your work. Hell. Even double-check your staff's work. You're in a great area where the food scene is blowing up in Biddeford. Be the first one in Saco to lead that. We initially went to another Sushi Restaurant that is closer to home, but the line was too long to wait. We got in right away and ended up eating at the bar. The miso soup was complex and yet comforting. The black sesame dressing on the Avocado Salad was sublime and brought out the texture and flavors of the greens and avocado. We each had a salmon poke bowl and it was as close to perfect as you can imagine. The flavors were distinct but also complemented one another. The Salmon was buttery and smooth and just the right temperature. The rice was sticky but not gummy. The spicy kewpie mayo added interest and yet did not blow out the flavors. The selection of Saki was small but distinguished. My partner had plum wine and it was fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was full but not overly so. It seemed like most of their business was take out and they seemed a bit overwhelmed but that did not manifest in frustration or anger. Been 3 times in the last month, everything is always fresh and delicious. Full bar, beer on draft. Some favorites - Edamame, because we always go after the gym & it's quick and delicious. Could use a tad of salt but great with a little soy sauce on top. Ramen - the Jin ramen is our favorite so far Yummy - not a classic pick, but these yam rolls are really delicious! First time in a sushi restaurant, not our usual dining experience but we're on vacation and our younger family it's their norm. Our order consisted in two Red Sox rolls , a veggie poke bowl and asked for chicken to be added to it , one veggie salad for my wife( not willing to try sushi ) an order of steamed edamame and sushi rolls with shrimp for myself (or not sushi eater either). But when in Rome or Saco as the case may be...join in! The rolls were accompanied by thinly sliced pickled ginger and wasabi. The former which I found mildly tangy , I used the zing from the wasabi , I wished more accompanied the rolls . I was able to use the chopsticks but did have some difficulty due the fact they were stainless steel and a bit tricky to use. Our other family enjoyed the meal saying it was on par what they enjoyed in other similar restaurants around the country. So I am differing to their judgment and give it 4 stars. The bill was under $75 for the five of us . It's a small restaurant off Main St (Rte1) . Several tables and helpful friendly staff and chef .Street parking in front and across the street , take out is available, prices are affordable and similar to others . My girlfriend can eat sushi every day of the week, whereas I'm more once a month so I was excited to see some different, interesting apps and dishes on their menu. We had seen positive reviews pop up for it lately and made plans to order takeout after a long day of working. The good: The sushi and maki rolls were pretty good and the presentation was very nice, compared to other local places. One roll was a tad fishy, but overall they were good. The mixed: I was imagining the Korean Fried Chicken to be like some of the Japanese Fried Chicken I've had in Portland at sushi restaurants but this was pieces of breast meat covered in a starchy coating and then mixed with sauce. I wouldn't call it fried chicken, but it was pretty good anyways. The "spicy" was just a tad spicy. The fails: Cauliflower pop was rough. They had used such huge clumps of cauliflower that they didn't cook through so they were raw in the middle. At least fry it a little longer if you're going to use enormous pieces of cauli. And the bulgogi, that poor bulgogi. It looked like it had been steamed and then maybe microwaved? It was so dry and even the rice wasn't good. I don't know what happened. We ordered at what we thought was an off time. If you go, definitely stick to sushi. Maybe their ramen is good? We live 5 minutes away and wanted to make this our new go-to, but considering that half of what I ordered was borderline inedible and I ended up making a sandwich an hour after getting our food, probably going to be while. read more

I don't understand any of the negative reviews for this place. In my opinion it is just people karening out. This is by far some of the best sushi in Maine. I go here pretty regularly, like once a week regularly. I have eaten everything on the menu and not single complaint about anything. My favorites include but are not limited to: The Jin Ramen, Tombo Roll, House Salad (I want to bottle their dressing), Spicy Scallop Roll (This is the sort of roll you want to share as it is very rich and delicious.) The smoked salmon is done in house and is perfect, not too smokey. I get that people are in this new norm of ordering out, but they need to keep in mind that a lot of these restaurants did not sign up to do door dash or delivery in general. Those apps force themselves on businesses such as this and over charge, don't show up sometimes and the burden falls on the restaurants. My advice, don't order take out. Go in and enjoy the food and the atmosphere, the way it was intended. read more

Very disappointed. Got the pork ramen bowl. Supposed to come with bean sprouts, cabbage, potato, and pulled pork. Hardly had any sprouts, there was corn instead of potatoes, and there was only one large piece of cabbage. The pulled pork had multiple pieces covered with gelatinous fat. I ended up tossing the whole thing out. My husband who is not usually bothered by (and will eat) fatty pieces of meet lost his appetite. We also got the pork buns and the pork there had the same issue. The only reason this has 2 stars instead of 1 is because the sushi was good but was more expansive than what it's worth. It wasn't authentic from what I have experienced in the past eating at Ramen noodle restaurants.

A bit of a disappointment, I'm sorry to say. For some reason I've been hesitant to go to Jin Sushi and I didn't know why. Now I know. The atmosphere is ok, not very welcoming, kind of cold & boring. Whenever I use a restaurant bathroom and it's run down & dirty it's not a good sign, and this bathroom needs an update & a good cleaning. We started with the Miso Soup which was lackluster. It had little to no flavor as well as 1 itty piece of tofu. I got the Poke bowl. Again, lackluster. It had all the usual ingredients, tuna, salmon, avocado, edamame, a bit of seaweed salad & rice. The sauce did have a bit of a kick and some nice flavor but it just never came together. I also got an app of the Unagi, which was good. My mom got a Maki Roll and enjoyed it. All in all, I don't think I'll be back. read more

We got take out in Jan/Feb 2022. Not great. Fried cauliflower was soggy (they get a pass as it was take out). However, the maki rolls were bland and didn't have much substance to them besides rice (very little shrimp, scallop, etc. The bun was good. I'm happy to see the changes that have taken place as Hanabi has turned into Jin Sushi and Ramen. The interior was due for an overhaul and it's gotten a good one. Everything is bright and clean, and I think they may have added some seating. A ramen place is a great idea, Saco/Biddeford needs a place like this. The food was all good and hopefully will get even better. The size of the ramen seems a bit smaller than other places I've been and the noodles themselves don't have quite the texture that I'm used to, but it was really tasty. The teriyaki dinners looked really good too. I also ordered a Negihama roll which really wasn't rolled very well & fell apart more easily than a roll should. It tasted fresh, but I wonder if it was made by someone who hasn't had enough practice. I had seen the Bonfire roll on Jin's website and probably would have ordered that instead, but I didn't see it on the menu in the restaurant and forgot about it. One thing I liked about Jin was that unlike many other ramen restaurants, there was no deafening music. People could talk and laugh, and that was happening all around us as the place filled up. I look forward to visiting Jin again in a few months and watching it get better and better. read more

His sushi is fantastic! Such a wide variety and it's always fresh! His Ramen is also insanely addictive! The portion sizes are large, and well worth the price. Wow!!!! This is an update from my last review and I have been to this location three more times since. Each time the chef seems to make it even more decadent. We went tonight with the expectation that we would thoroughly enjoy our meal and he, again, exceeded this expectation. His in-house smoked salmon melts in your mouth and the fish is the freshest I've tasted. This is an experience you don't want to pass up.
